I'm really looking forward to buying a new PCVR headset to replace the index ones, but you guys make it difficult!!
How do you put Fresnel lenses almost in 2025!!??
I had hopes because of the importance of a company like HTC... But it doesn't make sense even for companies.
Is it so difficult to have a headset with pancake lenses like a bigscreen beyond, pico 4 ultra or Quest pro or Quest 3??? or aspherical crystal lenses like the pimax crystal light? Or the somnium VR1? or varjo aero?
And then the weight.... You don't put it anywhere because it's sure to be a ton, the crystal lenses weigh quite a bit ok... But what less than pancake lenses???
And then LCD pufff seriously??? What less than a Qled with local dimming, not to mention OLEd or microOLED. There are HTC HMD from years ago with AMOLED or OLED with their problems that we already know, but we need the blacks and colors, it solves those screen/lens problems without resorting to the easy-to-use LCD solution...
And PCVR❤ displayport, you don't need a processor for PCVR which is also a lot of extra weight... And if you put it in, let it be a current version not one like the one that Quest 2 have because it already limits you to not being able to have wifi 7 or more cameras, it's just a no-brainer!!
The FOV is sufficient and inside-out tracking ok
Anyway, keep waiting for another HMD from you or from the competition. It seems that you don't want to sell the product, with Fresnel lenses and LCD it will be dead in 2025 and more at that price... having for less than half the pico 3 link, the PSVR2 (with OLED) that go through displayport and Fresnel
*If you change those lenses for pancake lenses and QLED paneles with local dimming maintaining that resolution or more. You sell this headset like hotcakes even if It were for those 1200€. There are a lot of PCVR people Who want to upgrade their headset, you just have to read the general community on reddit, Telegram,discords....*
Thank you for continuing to believe in PCVR and its displayport/tracking inside-out ❤
@@Boss_VR totally agree! You cannot even compete with Quest 3 just by adding eye/face tracking (I suspect the face tracking will be another paid module) and displayport , or even the new quest 3s, which will have fresnel and LCD, yes, but they will sell that for 300€, not 1200€.
Then delay this headset, replace the lenses with oled or micro oled if you’re gonna go fresnel, or use pancake WITH LOCAL DIMMING. I’d prefer oled. And Jesus Christ include the damn adapter wtf vive. You made a lossless headset with fresnel lcd. What kind of 100 year old suits are running this company. Have you guys ever used vr??
it can be, but not with the screen/lens/Chip combo
可以使用後再評論嗎?也許他們有完美的配置調整,體驗完全不同。當然,我也希望HTC VIVE能夠主動、大方地解釋大家的疑問,避免一直被誤解。
Stunning LCD screens and fresnel lenses! Welcome to 2019!
they probably forgot to release the headset 4 years ago idk
Seriously.
What were they thinking?!

Fresnel lenses and XR2 Gen 1 chip on a $1000 headset in 2024 is crazy. If it had pancake lenses and the Gen 2 chip, i bet this headset would fly off the shelves. Im worried about the success of this headset.
The only positive is the 120° fov and eyetracking and for some the DP-altmode cable option.
Yes I'm never buying any headset with fresnel lenses after trying the PSVR2, those lenses are trash. I tried the pancakes lenses on the Quest 3 and they are way better. I'm not a fanboy of any of these brands, but I bought both headsets and I know which one looks better. I care more about clarity, and easy to find the sweet spot.
Why worry? You can just not buy it.
@@sociallyresponsiblexenomor7608most people in niche ecosystems want everything that comes out to succeed. Thats how we get VR AR to grow.
@@sociallyresponsiblexenomor7608 Because we want more consumer vive headsets in the future
literally delay the release of this headset, update the price to be higher or lower and replace the lenses and displays vive. I genuinely think you would gain back so much respect and people will be actually more willing to buy the headset. Like this post if you agree so vive can see it!
You forgot to ask to make the heads trap swappable soo we can use another that feels more comfortable.
@@sorkoatbot7792 Thats going to be too much work for them to do and the delay would last much longer. Already asking for a lot to do basically a redesign on the front of the headset to add in slimmer or more clearer lenses and better display pannels. If they manage to fix that I’m positive a lot more people would buy this headset, I would argue that it would be one of the best headsets in the market for pcvr if they incorporate better lenses and displays. I really hope they consider doing a delay, put in some hard work, and come back with the best all rounder headset to come out in years. A lot of the vr community already dislikes vive a lot but them doing that would up their sales, respect, and reputation I don’t see the negative in doing a delay to add in better displays and lenses..
Exactly my opinion. Basicially I really like what HTC did here but they missed the crucial point to swap the lenses. The old ones from Pro 2 / Focus 3 pull the experience of the entire headset down...
@@Crimson_201 i mean they’re already in the process of doing mass production so it would be really foolish to assume rolling all that back to add in better lenses and displays AND keep the same price point it just isn’t realistic. Unless they come up with something that makes the price the same or lower even which i doubt but who knows thats why i added the “lower” part in that sentence.
Or at least put in the XR2 gen2 chipset, not the 'ancient' gen1 which the Quest 2 had.
No OLED and it has Fresnel Lenses.... in 2024. Dead on arrival. I want a new PCVR headset so bad, but it`s painful to watch these companies miss the target over and over again.
Exactly! OLED with pancake lenses please! It would also be nice for a VR gloves option, with finger tracking and forcefeedback, as an optional upgrade rather than clunky outdated console style game controllers.
THE HTC Vive XR Elite " had" pancake lens. Why are they going backward? 😂 and mine broke...because it's straps were cheaply made.
Snapdragon xr2 "GEN 1" in 2024, are you kidding me HTC?
Isn't that quest 2 performance?

HERE IS THE FIRST HONEST REVIEW :
PICO 4 ultra ( $631 ) is better than VIVE Focus Vision ( $1000 )
Key Differences:
Wi-Fi: Pico 4 Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, whereas the Vive Focus Vision supports Wi-Fi.
Weight: Pico 4 Ultra is lighter than the Vive Focus Vision.
Storage: Pico 4 Ultra offers more internal storage (512GB) compared to the Vive Focus Vision (256GB).
Given the prices:
Pico 4 Ultra: €599.00 (~$631.00 USD)
Vive Focus Vision: ~$1,099 USD
The Vive Focus Vision is $468.00 USD more expensive than the Pico 4 Ultra.
I thought today is 2024 not 2016
Everything is wonderful BUT where is pancake lenses !? 😢
and oled screen
Everything is wonderful ??
a 4 years old chip is wonderful !!
LCD panels that only go up to 90Hz is wonderful !!
$1000 for this thing is wonderful !!!!
no wonder crappy companies like this aren't bankrupt yet with people praising every failure they release.
Not here
all in quest 3
@@Crimson_201actually the displays can go up to 120hz, but for now(future) only when using DP-altmode through cable.
If you don’t delay and update the lenses to pancake I will not buy button
it's a VR headset, not a button
I was getting excited about it, and then the specs hit right through.... Fresnel lenses and LCD for such prices? That's crazy who is managing this company...
No pancake = old gen
Pancake lenses have abysmal optical efficiency.
They are not simply "next gen" - they bring tradoffs.
Fresnel is a totally valid choice.
The fact it can't be mains powered or even charged while in use isn't though 🤦
Fresnel Lense?🤣High end?
What a joke!
Low end 😂
Quest 3s will definitely outsell it due to the upgraded specs 😂
No pancakes lenses? Pff, you failed us again HTC
90Hz LCD in that price that's a bit painfull, will it atleast work with already existing vive 3.0 trackers if i have base stations? Or do i HAVE TO buy the ultimate trackers also?
Bruh....
It can update to 120hz.
@@justacooldudeuknow28 headset is 90hz, eyetracking is 120hz, it says it on the "Specs" tab on the website :/

LCD?! Fresnel?!
No oled + tiny mediocre FOV + expensive price = DOA. Who is in charge of this company anyway? He should be fired
“Tiny mediocre FOV” compared to what…
The Vive company is stupid, completely stupid. The reason why the Quest 2 did so well is because it was so cheap and they're trying to replicate that success with a £1000 product.
No consumers are buying this
You know the reason the Quest 2 was cheap was because it cost $600 to manufacture and Meta ate the $300 loss on every kit, costing them billions. Not everyone is willing to do that to gain market dominance.
Luckily for them the focus line is primarily targeted at prosumers and businesses. And HTC has to make a profit on every sold headset, whereas Meta subsidizes the headset a little and selling it at cost of the hardware, excluding cost R&D.
@@SuperDre74how can they EVER make a profit with a Headset as HORRIBLE and bulky as this???? This looks so uncomfortable. You would think after the AVP these companies would take some notes on how to make their headset slimmer. And btw the AVP could have been more slimmer if they removed the front screen glass.
@@powerhouse884sorry, but bulky doesn't need to be uncomfortable. I hear that the Focus 3 is one of the most comfortable headsets out of the box, just like the previous Vive Pro's were. Hell, even though my very old Forte VFX-1 VR helmet is very big, it's still one of the most comfortable headsets I've ever had, and it certainly has room enough to house whatever hardware needed.
Love the idea of a standalone PCVR type headset but why the old style controllers with the tracking rings and the clunky fresnel lenses!? Learn from the modern VR market trends and stop pushing out headsets that are new but still feel old... And please make a budget friendly headset that casual gamers can afford!
Does it use glass lenses? Fresnel lenses are terrible.
don't talk out of your arse, bet you haven't even got a vr headset

@@shaunmorrissey7313 lmao, as a Quest 1 user, i can tell you that the Fresnel lenses are truly terrible.
@@shaunmorrissey7313 I got a VR and Fresnel lenses are trash. Deal with it
Dear HTC, you lost the cellphone market because you didn't follow the trends, now you're doing it again.
It has amazing capabilities, but do not follow the new trend with pancake lences and it has a old APU.
I'm afraid this might be a reason you will loose marketshare again.
So you basically get a Quest 3 but with better FOV and eye tracking, at the cost of better lenses, the meta game library access, all at like three times the price.
Yeah, this is might be good for like, a few youtubers- but I am going to continue recommending the Quest 3 to my friends honestly; or a PSVR2 for PS5 owners who primarily play on console.
No way, finally trailer with vrchat clips but with no furries. :D
Because it was not public world xd
True XD
I was about to say 😂
Damn the furry hate is so forced 😂 Just say you hate people expressing themselves
Damn the furry hate is so forced 😂 Just say you hate people expressing themselves
Why is it that everytime they release a HMD over the last 3 yrs they always go one or two steps below the competition and still want to sell you it at a rediculas price. I Hope this isnt a calab with Valve and it being Decard... If it is, I am very disappointed.
fresnel lens and no OLED....
just the lenses itself are the reason ppl wont upgrade from Q3.
Make it more expensive and add Pancake and OLED and im replacing my Q3 with this.
@@TheMindEssence you mean axe the Fresnel lenses? I am curious about this headset tbh if it was the same price as Q3 I would get it. Pancake lenses are undeniably better than Fresnel however my rift s has far superior stereoscopy than my quest 3 (I'm not saying that's lense related just something meta dropped the ball on for Q3) I may just take inferior lenses for a better sense of depth although not sure. Ain't no way I'm paying 1k for this headset though
@@ModerateDev yes, i fixed it, i ment Pancake
And hdr
@@danielkissgremsperger3242 not sure my eyes could handle HDR in VR quest 3 is already pretty bright as it is. I think the better black levels of OLED would be sufficient for the perceived increased contrast
I agree 100%! I spent over £2,000 on my Asus Rog Strix RTX4090 graphics card alone, and everything else in my PC is top of the range, so I, like anyone else willing to spend money in this range, am willing to pay more for current OLED and pancake lenses, but why would anyone choose this headset with 2016 technology when the Meta Quest 3 is around half the price? They should change the display and charge more! And a VR gloves option rather than clunky game controllers would be a welcome upgrade!
What kind of "store front" does the VIVE have as a standalone for someone without a PC VR to run it on? Can it connect to the Meta Horizon / Quest store or the PICO store or have its own?
Also, will there be a Pro version that uses Micro-OLED Pancake Lens?
@@cusman Meta are opening their store to all so if not at first at least in the future it will have full access to Metas library
@@ModerateDevonly if the headset supports HorizonOS, which they probably won't.
Uh...... Vive has its own store and all that too, always has. lol
It's loaded with just as much as Meta and so on. Same things too for the most part.
My self? Id buy it on sale. Not $999
Why?
Well, I dislike Meta software, the loops to go through to use it on PC, the capturing methods so its just right using their dumb mirror tool, I can go on and on.
I sold the quest 3.
I'd rather of kept my Vive pro 2.
For PC this one is a solid deal. Display port cable is my go to anyway.

I concur but that likely necessitates finding ways to make cheaper pancake lenses.
Is It oled?

Why not xr2 gen 2? Why only 2 hours battery life? WHY 1300$?? Its 3 times more expensive than the quest 3 or pico 4 ultra, but they both have more advanced processor.
Quest and pico are subsidised and don’t make any profit off the headset sales. They also sell your data so they can be cheaper.
@@damanilewis200 Pico selling data ?
@@damanilewis200 Yeah, but if 400$ is price without any profit, than why the hell htc decide to take 900$ profit? Ok, i know its a bit undair to compair, but price difference isnt even 2 times, its 3 times. Even if real cost of headset 600 dollars, due to small amount to produce, they still make 700$ profit. awesome! always getting closer to the perfect device! the images give the impression that this is using pancake lenses, but with no mention of the type of lenses on the spec page, are they pancake or fresnel?
fresnel, these companies do not learn, it's like they never go outside and see what other companies do great.
@@elmaxlife where did you find this out?
@@RipleyD_ott It couldn't be pancake due to the form factor.
That said, it's possible they could be aspheric lenses like Varjo Aero, Pimax Crystal etc and that would be amazing BUT they never mentioned anything so it's almost certainly fresnel lenses. Fresnel lenses wouldn't be so bad though, except these are the worst fresnel lenses on the market. Even HTC's older fresnel lenses were better, it's madness.

That's exactly his point. Pancake lenses are way more compact compared to fresnel lenses@@Kabi71o1
The fact that this doesn't have Base Station Support but can be used for PCVR kind of upsets me. It's not a true hybrid on paper, what about users who would love to upgrade their indexes and keep their original FBT and Knuckles controllers?! This headset would be the perfect Index upgrade if it had that
Times change
If it copies as much over from the Focus 3 as it seems, it won't be possible to mains power it. Even when used tethered to a PC, you will still be limited to 2 hours of use - and that's when new - it will of course degrade over time. It absolutely fails as a "hybrid" on everything except the Display Port.
@@zig131 This was never a limitation of the devices, but a limitation of non thunderbolt USB-C ports on PCs. Like with quest headsets, you just need a cable that splits data and power, or use a thunderbolt port.
@@cheapcrackers4772 Nope. I just watched a review of the Focus 3, and it cannot be charged by it's USB port. The battery is a separate, replaceable unit mounted at the back. It is charged by a small barrel type charger, and the charging port is not accessible while the battery is docked in the HMD.
@@cheapcrackers4772 And the inability of Standalone HMDs to be mains-powered is totally a failure of the devices. They use a smartphone-like design, and smartphones have the same flaw. When the integrated battery dies, the device becomes e-waste. Generally laptops are the only battery powered devices these days with the ability to be mains powered (instead of just charging the battery while the battery powers the device).
The XR Elite solved the problem smartly by having the HMD just run off USB power, and the battery is simply a USB power bank.
Chat do you think its worth if if i sell my quest pro and get this headset instead?
Here is translation of your question.
Can I sell my 2024 BMW and get 2016 KIA instead?
Good to have more competition again. Overall, it looks very good in design, features but the lenses and the built hardware could be better.

INTRODUCING: A PRODUCT THAT DOESN’T WORK, wait.. that’s all of our other products
theres so many issues with VIVE XR your previous headset which is still fairly new, especially for facetracking…. yall didnt even bother fixing that, just released a whole new headset instead???
FBT in one headset?
The headset alone is inside out head/hand/controller/eye tracking. With add-on face and body trackers you can have all your mocap sensors in one platform made to work together with no external base stations. Their universal trackers I imagine are not cheap because they are not just IMUs, they also have inside out tracking cameras for more precision and less IMU drift. Some game studios use them to make video game animations with mocap actors and VRTubers are a thing now too. It appears they are targeting casuals that want plug and play and the VRChat, VTuber, and Resonite metaverse crowd which is even bigger in Asia than the US.
Are these using the same fresnel lenses again? If so then 0:51 is misleading as it looks like those are clear lenses. If this has aspheric lenses then you have an AMAZING headset that I can't wait to buy, if these have the same fresnel lenses as the Vive focus 3 then you have a headset that you couldn't pay me to use. Please HTC, replace the lenses. At this stage, after so many years of doing this, it honestly seems like you might be trolling because it just doesn't make sense to keep releasing product after product that comes so close to being good but has one glaring (literally) deal breaker that any random tester off the street could tell you is a deal breaker.
Fresnel Isnt that terrible but i understand
@@UnpopularFeed I am guessing you haven't tried the fresnel in the focus 3/vive pro 2. If this headset had fresnel similar to Quest 2, pico 3, dpvr e4 etc then I would be totally fine with it but honestly these are the worst fresnel lenses.
I like a lot about this, is it virtual link compatible?
Bro i just got my vive XR elite..

Is this the Apple Vision Pro competitor it looks way better! Does this act like a stand alone vr headset and spatial computer?
you literally have no idea what you are talking about, go study some more and come back
It has standalone VR/AR and can optionally be used as a PC VR headset too. While it has similar sounding features it's more like a Quest Pro than an Apple Pro. Apples spatial computing is a bit of a marketing misnomer.
everyone wants quest 3 style pancake lenses and OLED. It's not possible guys. Pancake lenses eat a lot of light, OLED is just too dark. Micro OLED is a thing but that's a whole different style of headset.
I have never owned a PCVR headset, now might be the time to get one lol!
that price must be a typo
Fresnel lenses and only a 5K display? Is that 5K per eye? If not this headset is already looking dated...
Its 6MP per eye
It's just a very small dot somewhere in the middle that is high res, the rest is blurred thanks to the lenses.
if not for the lenses and maybe that $200 uplift in price I would buy it. Snapdragon gen 1 isnt as big of a deal, at least for me.
I have owned many vr headsets, and the Quest Pro is my favorite thus far for pcvr using virtual desktop rtx 4080 i9 13th gen GODLIKE settings pancake lens Quantum dot local dimming pretty large glass lens ect... I currently have the Q3 while its great the lenes are smaller and the quality of the LCDs are not as good and the Pro version as far as contrast and colors!

I like that you can connect the headset to PC via display port for maximum uncompressed fidelity with those 5K displays could have been somthing amazing but the OLD Fresnel lens kill it! As a consumer i want a headset thats pcvr great oled screens, base station tracking, eye tracking, face tracking, pancake lenses. Is that too much to ask for?😂
I don't want basestation tracking, tracking of headsets itself through inside-out camera tracking are already excellent, and now we also have controllers with inside-out cameratracking, and the new Vive trackers also have inside-out tracking. So no need for the old basestation based tracking anymore.

Everything about this sounds great EXCEPT the fresnel lenses and older chip. That is my only real gripe to be honest. Otherwise it could beat the quest 3.
Y displayport ❤ no hace falta procesador...

ok, so wot's new?
FINNALLY
The only positive comments I've seen on here are clearly bot accounts. Sad for HTC
Okay look, frankly I don’t care about it not having the latest processor, not having pancake lenses, not having oled screens, or whatever else people are complaining about but man I just do not see how this justifies the price. Like there’s definitely some good aspects of it but I just don’t see how they’re going to be super relevant to the average user. Especially the AR passthrough stuff. Like I get that’s supposed to be “the future” or whatever but it makes me wonder how much of the price of this thing is going into some feature most people barely use.
This is the regular price for a VR headset the cheaper ones which are obviously from meta are sold at a loss so that they could get market dominance this is just how much this technology costs
i like htc ! i had htc vive pro eye , htc vive pro 2 and vive XR ! i think htc need to reconsider about relesing this headset with 2022 tech ! fix it pls
Pancake Lenses, please.
Where's face tracking ?
Add on module that attaches to the outer edge of the nose gap. It was flashed for less than a second in that vid lol.
it looks even bigger than the quest 2 wtf
