The only sequel in the franchise that isn't basically just a fucking remake of the original. It's my favorite of the series lol Didn't work for me when I first saw it but I came to love it upon rewatch.
The corpse that Chop-Top and Leatherface carry around with them and affectionately call 'Nubbins' (also appearing on the original cover art) is that of the hitchhiker from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), Nubbins Sawyer. Director, Tobe Hooper and co-writer of the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), Kim Henkel originally had an idea for a sequel that would feature an entire town of cannibals, and also be a satire of the film Motel Hell (1980), which itself was a satire of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The title of that sequel was to be 'Beyond The Valley Of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre', but the studio forced considerable changes to be made to the screenplay, even hiring a new screenwriter, and the result of those changes are what became Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 2. The "family group shot," as seen in the advertisements, posters, and video covers, uses the same positioning as the promotional group shot for the movie The Breakfast Club (1985). Dennis Hopper thought this was the worst movie he'd ever been in. He later said the same thing about Super Mario Bros. (1993). Bill Moseley created a short film parody entitled "The Texas Chainsaw Manicure" where he played a small role as The Hitchhiker and showed it to a screenwriter, who was able to show it to Tobe Hooper. Hooper loved it and kept Moseley in mind for a part should he ever make a sequel. When the time came to cast "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2", Moseley was contacted for the role of Chop-Top, The Hitchhiker's twin brother. Lefty finds the skeleton of Franklin sitting in his wheelchair from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Lefty is Franklin and Sally's uncle. Bill Moseley has said that his role as Chop-Top is his favorite of his own. Caroline Williams wanted to make a strong impression at her audition. When she was called in, she went to the end of the hallway and ran screaming into the room, where she pulled Tobe Hooper and L.M. Kit Carson out of their seats and used the chairs to barricade the door before she began her scene. Tom Savini once stated that the makeup effects that he created for Grandpa is his most proud accomplishment, which he compares to the makeup for the aged Dustin Hoffman in Little Big Man (1970). Final film of Jim Siedow Primus sampled Chop-Top's line "Dog will hunt!" for their song 'Jerry Was a Race Car Driver Many fans of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) disliked this movie due to its emphasis on gore and wacky humor. Tobe Hooper has argued that black humor was also present in the original film, but viewers did not acknowledge it because of its shocking content. Tobe Hooper was originally just going to produce this movie. He eventually took over directorial duties as the film's low budget meant that they were unable to hire an affordable director. A lengthy scene in which the Sawyer family goes out hunting for prime meat was cut for pacing but is present on the Gruesome Edition DVD. A fire erupted one night in the downtown Austin building where much of the movie took place. When firemen arrived, they found bodies and thought they'd stumbled upon the lair of a psychopathic murderer interview, Tobe Hooper said that cutting the film down to 90 to 100 minutes was a major priority for Cannon so they could have more screenings per day and potentially make more money. The chainsaw used in this film belongs to Tobe Hooper and it rests in a glass display case. The name of the hitchhiker from the first film is revealed at the end of this film when Drayton Sawyer gets a grenade off of his corpse and says "Come here, Nubbins". When originally submitted to the MPAA, it received an "X" certificate, prompting the filmmakers to release it as "unrated". Tobe Hooper consciously concentrated on the black comedy element of the film as he felt that had been overlooked in the original movie. The controversial "butcher cover" of The Beatles' album "Yesterday and Today" can be seen hanging in the radio station. Chop-Top asks Stretch if the tape of the opening scene murders is from "the Rambo III (1988) soundtrack". 'Rambo III' had not yet been written at the time 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2' came out. It was released two years later, by Carolco. In the Sawyer clan's lair, there hangs a skeleton from the ceiling, riding a bomb and waving a cowboy hat over its head. This is an homage to the end scene in Stanley Kubrick's "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" from 1964. When Lefty is in the Cut-Rite store picking chainsaws off the wall, the same model saw used by Leatherface in the first film can be seen - a Poulan 245A. The silver saw that Lefty used was a Dolmar chainsaw. It was made for only two years and the model is unknown. Gunnar Hansen was approached to reprise his role as Leatherface, but he claimed to have been offered "scale plus 10 percent" with the 10 percent going to his agent. When he replied that he had no agent, they offered him scale without the additional 10 percent. Hansen found the offer too low. Unit publicist Scott Holton offered an alternate story, claiming Hansen vacillated about the part and the offer was rescinded. Holton didn't believe the average viewer was even aware of who the original actors were, claiming, "Who are Neal, Hansen, or Burns?" Edwin Neal, who played Chop-Top's twin brother The Hitchhiker in the first film, was actually a Vietnam veteran in real life. A poster can be seen on the wall in the radio station for the band Fine Young Cannibals. John Bloom was cast and his name is listed in the closing credits, but his scenes were edited out of the final version Whereas the first film has an undeserved reputation for being extremely gory (it's not), this sequel dispenses with that notion and ups the splatter content. Right after Stretch plays the tape of the chainsaw killing, she puts on the same Star Spangled Banner theme that played in Poltergeist (1982) - another Tobe Hooper movie. (at around 30 mins) After L.G. leaves the radio station, Stretch plays The Lords of the New Church's 'Mind Warp'. The song is uncredited, though it was included in the soundtrack LP. Grandma's chainsaw, at the end of the movie, was a Poulan 361. The chainsaw used by Leatherface is a Craftsman 4300. In contrast to the majority of horror films, all the victims who die are men. Body count: 8 The Sawyers all end up being chainsawed to death (Leatherface and Chop-Top are impaled through the guts, while Drayton is stabbed/hacked through the back) as a result of one of their latest victims and a relative of their victims from the first film. Executive producers Golan and Globus initially signaled they would seek no less than an 'R' from the Motion Picture Association of America's Classification and Rating Administration; The Cannon Group later announced that they planned to release 'Massacre 2' unrated, having failed to get an 'R' from the MPAA; Only after the picture had been screened twice in Los Angeles and failed on both occasions to get an 'R', despite trimming off some of the 'bloodier scenes'. This is why, even though the film was released, in America, Unrated; it was neither Tobe Hooper's preferred director's assembly, much less, uncut, by any means.
TCM2 was so much fun and I get they tried to do something different and I appreciate that. For good or bad the TCM franchise always tries something different. Great review even though I disagree with you.
TCM 2 is definitely an acquired taste. It is one of my favorites. I have been able to speak to Tom Saving, Bill Mosley and Bill Johnson about it. Alot of pressure from Cannon on Tobe Hooper and a budget which allowed him to go over the top. Bill Johnson actually didn't do as much of the Leatherface character as people think. You can tell during the movie. Savini said it was a great time and alot of basic gags with money to make them totally awesome. Chop Top is annoying but how he goes from goofy to psycho makes up for it. As a whole it certainly has its flaws but I would rather have this than what others feel Leatherface is. Most other sequels loose Leatherface for an unstoppable killing machine. I will comment more on the Leatherface character and how the differ from each movie compared to the original as you keep going. Anyway I will agree to disagree but we all have our taste.
Did you ever hear about the sequel/spinoff movie that was never finished? It was supposed to be called "All American Massacre" and was supposed to be a direct sequel to TCM 2 and also partially a prequel covering Chop Tops backstory. You should react to the teaser and trailer footage they have.
Part 2 is my fav chainsaw film , I enjoy it more then the OG. I own Leatherface’s jacket from the fight with Dennis Hopper scene I actually own. I’ve got a video of it on my channel
great review man! really looking forward to your tcm 3 review! 3 has always been my favorite since the original. so seeing your take is going to be fun. to me the cast is really entertaining in 3, plus 3's leatherface was closer to the original film, and intimidating again. while there is some corny scenes in it, i still love it lol
Micheal Myers and dr loomis I had my tumours removed twelve hours went home thinking I was ok and got on with life I had a mini stroke 🤦🏽♀️ but terminator 2 is back now I can watch all your re runs again thank you for making me laugh again love you guys ❤️
It's so weird because I used to hate this movie when I first watched it but over the years I grew to love it and it's one of my favorites now, I had to completely detach it from the Original and it eventually worked.
the music playing while leatherface kills the two guys in the car is actually "oingo boingo - no one lives forever" the 80's rock band of danny elfman !!!
I watched this movie for the first time back in 2005, I was 15, a friend of mine lend me the remake dvd with Jessica Biel but when I put the movie it was TCM 2, it took me by surprise, but as the big 80s cinema fan that I am, I really enjoyed this one, the soundtrack is perfect, the color palette in every scene is perfect, the cast is perfect, Stretch is the coolest final girl, and I love the little details like the way they cut off all the madness at the end with a very chill song like "strange things happen" you have to love it for what it is, a crazy beautiful 80's flick. too bad you didn't like it Mike...
I actually LOVE this movie... It's just so damn zany!!! But I appreciate your opinion, Mike... Good luck with the rest of the series. I also happen to love The Next Generation, which again, is so damn zany!
Agree on everything, especially how truly irritating Chop Top is. Nothing against Bill Moseley, who I’m sure was just following direction, but that character is one of the most overrated in horror.
lol I remember when I watched your review for this back and the day and it convinced me to watch it. Needless to say we’re on the same page about this movie now lol.
I started laughing when i heard your new score. You've become more critical in your old age Mike. I haven't seen this so i was a teen. I don't remember a lot.
Mike - This movie is such a fun movie and a fun sequel to watch unlike the rest of the sequels. The 2003 Remake and the prequel The Beginning are the last great movies in this franchise.
This movie was pretty fun to watch I don't agree with your thoughts about it but I do respect it. Also shout-out to Bill Moseley playing chomp top and the effects were pretty great. Also the poster was them parodying the breakfast club. Plus how many movies you have left are TCM 3 & 4, The remake and the remake's prequel, 3D and Leatherface
Same here. I just watched The Next Generation about a week ago, and I actually found it quite disturbing, funny, but VERY disturbing. Matthew McConaughey's performance is so unhinged, it's scary. He even says "Alright, alright, alright" in the movie.
I can totally relate with what Mike's saying. I remember being so amazed when I'd seen the first years ago. Last year, I'd planned to binge watch the franchise as a whole, and coming straight outta rewatching the first- seeing the second one made me go, "What in the actual fuck is this FRANCHISE SLAUGHTERING BULLSHIT!?" Never made it all the way through not cause it was messed up, but cause I felt they disrespected and ruined what was so great and horrifying bout the first film. I decided to actually commit to watching the franchise again this year, with an open mind. There are no more amazing TCM movies after the original, but I'll admit... I personally think most of them are more "ENTERTAINING BAD", rather than "DOWNRIGHT UNWATCHABLE BAD", aside from Next Generation. I ended up enjoying TCM2 a lot more the second time around, not cause I thought it was good, rather for its sheer campiness. I look at the franchise the same way I look at Halloween. While on one hand, you have these clearly made sequels to either hate or enjoy. Meanwhile, in my headcannon, there's an alternate universe where none of the movies exist after the first, and it stands as an all-time classic, as always. Either way, it works out for me lol 😆
@@WeWatchedAMovie HOO--LYY SHIIIT!!! I've been following your guys' channel for nearly 5 years now, and the fact that I not only got a like from you... but also a reply, AND getting my name acknowledged: shit sorry dude, it genuinely feels like I'm chatting with one of my celebrities/heroes right now lol. Thanks Mike... LOVE Y'ALL FUCKIN' FACES!!! 🤣🙌🤙
I don't think the movie is complete crap. Dennis Hopper is so over the top it's funny, the main girl i found very likeable (and hot), the gore is good, choptop was a great replacement for the hitchhiker. But leatherface is a joke, wtf was with all those stupid ass faces he pulled and that crappy dance he did!? And the tone is all over the place. It truly baffles me that Hooper decided to turn the scariest, most fucked up horror movie ever into a parody. He should have just tried to make it in the same tone and style if he really wanted to make a sequel
😢 I wish you liked the movie even just as friends but at least you liked the log cutting scene! I love this one but I understand why some don’t. The leatherface stuff was great lol. I was a late bloomer on this vid ❤
Tcm 2 is a wild and zany ride. Cool special effects but it's not my taste either, I definitely prefer a more serious take. Love Mike as leatherface. Really rivaling J as Loomis. Hot take 🔥
I always liked TCM 2 because it was fun to watch, not a great movie overall and I get what your saying could of been if they took more care of the sequel.
Mike you’re doing a great job! Is J ok? It’s weird not seeing him help out with scream and now this. I get that he doesn’t like them but if he needs some love and support or even motivation I’ll create an only fans and you both can have free subscriptions! 🧡 no but seriously they announced Scream is dropping on digital on March 1st!
Yeah he's fine dude we're just allowing each other to do or not do the content we want is all. All is greatskies. Plus we're doing all the Batman movies this month too so it works out. We're getting a lot more out this way.
Mike, your portrayal of Leatherfacw was hilarious man. I completely agree with your opinion on the movie. I never liked it with it’s annoying characters and the new laiir was ridiculous. An underground bunker. I was expecting Jason from the Friday remake to show up. Keep up the great work guys
This movie is Oscar award caliber compared to Next Generation...There is no universe where Next Generation is anything remotely resembling a "fun" watch....
So, what you’re saying is... this movie is obnoxious? Yes, it most certainly is! But yeah, Leatherface using that hitchhiker’s dead body was fucking scary as shit! On the plus side if it wasn’t for Bill Mosley’s Choptop we wouldn’t have Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice.
The dude that played LG in this film got brutally axed to death by some nutcase in real life. Pretty much like Joey died in Friday the 13th part 5 just saying!
I’m looking forward to seeing the review for part 4. I know it’s considered the worst but honestly out of all of them, it’s my favourite. It’s so stupidly insane. Liked it even more once I’d learned about Illuminati 😂
@@WeWatchedAMovie it’s that one. With Bridget jones too. It’s terrible but it’s funny. I’ve seen all of them and they are all terrible. except the 1st.
I would agree. It’s not one of my favorites, but watching it in my late 20s I appreciated it a bit more than when I was a teen. On the other hand I also liked the 2nd more in my teens than now. The original is a great film that is always a Halloween must for me. The other ones including the new ones it depends what mood I am in.
I'm glad I'm not the only one lol I can't stand this one either. Hated the complete change in tone from the very first time I watched it. Such a waste to me, just a pointless sequel lol I couldn't agree more in regards to your point about them completely not understanding what people liked about the first film. Think that is the best way to explain it.
You really misunderstood the point of the film I think. I appreciate you being honest to your beliefs though! As for them getting Dennis Hopper, it came out before Blue Velvet. Before then, the only time he's been of note was his short part in Apocalypse Now.
Hey Mike… great live stream …. Texas Chainsaw, again not so much….but I will check it out for the real gore…. the music in the film drives me nuts… yeah irritating characters drive me nuts to…I understand!! Luv you as Leathetface….hilarious.. Take care Luv Linda xx A big hello to J ! ❤️🪓💀
I love Part 2 one of the best sequel's ever. Only flaw i have is the lack Of funds to have Dennis Hopper being in every scene of the movie. Hopper so good in it.
I don't think a straight horror sequel would've worked - I liked the off-the-wall direction they went with but there were fucking annoying parts. Can't wait for the new one 🤘
I love parts of this movie but the last 15%-20% is fuckin TERRIBLE!!! Showed this once in my college dorm room, it felt like 40 people was in there. They all seemed to enjoy it, a GREAT time. Watching everybody when Leather face came out of the records room was damn delightful. And yes Mike, she had some AWESOME legs.
Yeah... this one was odd. It threw me off the franchise when I was young. Although I'm one of those rare Tina fans from Halloween so my taste is all over the place.
Mike buddy do you need a Hug? after re-watching TCM2 again... sounds like you need a Hug...(I wanted to Mike that the Texas chainsaw movies go better as they when't along i really did but they didn't...they didn't)
Just released a trailer reaction to TCM3 on the patreon! Here: www.patreon.com/wewatchedamovie
Before you watch the 3rd sequel apparently there are 2 cuts of it and one of them is the more intended version of it, I think it's the producers cut
The back n forth with leatherface and Mike telling their sides of the film is dope
Thanks dude! It was a surprising amount of work actually lol

Plus how many movies you have left are
TCM 3 & 4, The remake and the remake's prequel, 3D and Leatherface
Love you guys!
Love you too Dylan!
Sees mike turn into Leatherface
Mysteriously wants Arby's roast beef sandwiches
We got the meats.
2 is a lot of dumb fun. But I feel the dark fart In the night that is 3D creeping up on you.
lmao oh man it's gonna hurt
@@WeWatchedAMovie
Do yer thing, cuz!
😂🔫
I agree with you Mike them 2 boneheads were so annoying really like your Leatherface he's funny as hell awesome review man 🤘
Thanks Anthony!
Nice shirt, dude!
Why thank you lol
Mike isn't holding back. I SAID GODDAM, how you really feel Mike?
Just imagine if leatherface stayed a legit killer in this movie and we still had the dark comedy. Dog will hunt!
Chainsaw foreplay is all you need to know when going into this one lol...
Itll getcha!
TCM 2 is a guilty pleasure, but I agree with everything you said here.
Part 2 and new generation is strangely my favorites out the series
Same here. I just watched The Next Generation about a week ago, and I actually found it quite disturbing, funny, but VERY disturbing. Matthew McConaughey's performance is so unhinged, it's scary. He even says "Alright, alright, alright" in the movie.
@@TranzparentMethods if you watch the movie as a commentary on the state of horror at the time, it’s a lot of fun lol
This movie rules. Don't hate. It's funny as shit
I can totally relate with what Mike's saying. I remember being so amazed when I'd seen the first years ago. Last year, I'd planned to binge watch the franchise as a whole, and coming straight outta rewatching the first- seeing the second one made me go, "What in the actual fuck is this FRANCHISE SLAUGHTERING BULLSHIT!?"
Never made it all the way through not cause it was messed up, but cause I felt they disrespected and ruined what was so great and horrifying bout the first film.
Totally get it James! It's weird I had the opposite reaction, I liked it way more the 1st time lol
TCM 2003 remake was my favorite Mike
I don't think the movie is complete crap. Dennis Hopper is so over the top it's funny, the main girl i found very likeable (and hot), the gore is good, choptop was a great replacement for the hitchhiker. But leatherface is a joke, wtf was with all those stupid ass faces he pulled and that crappy dance he did!? And the tone is all over the place. It truly baffles me that Hooper decided to turn the scariest, most fucked up horror movie ever into a parody. He should have just tried to make it in the same tone and style if he really wanted to make a sequel
Part 2 Is the best
Tht review was better than the movie!!! Hilarious man!!!
What was the Leatherface that was Australian or whatever about the RV trip? It was made in around 2017. It’s not the origin story one.
I don't know I'll have to look that up.
Mike you’re Perfect timing is leather face was awesome
This franchise is really strange
I agree, Mike! And for me, there are only two movies that matter in the franchise: the original and the 2003 remake.
J agrees as well those are the two he's gonna do with me! lol
😢 I wish you liked the movie even just as friends but at least you liked the log cutting scene! I love this one but I understand why some don’t.
The leatherface stuff was great lol. I was a late bloomer on this vid ❤
The old man in the chainsaw store was in JFK as one of the witnesses
Someone woke up today and decided to choose violence 🙄
Tcm 2 is a wild and zany ride. Cool special effects but it's not my taste either, I definitely prefer a more serious take. Love Mike as leatherface. Really rivaling J as Loomis. Hot take 🔥
Omg the mask with the hillbilly accent is brillant
I always liked TCM 2 because it was fun to watch, not a great movie overall and I get what your saying could of been if they took more care of the sequel.
I disagree man its so much fun. But hey still loves this review and love u guys!! Love ur honesty
I wish I shared your enthusiasm my good man but thank you for being rad about it!
@@WeWatchedAMovie u guys are rad!!
@@WeWatchedAMovie good cause you two are the best around! Your chemistry is perfect like a regular Abbot and Costello 😂
That mean you want to smack their heads together and I'll beat your backup❤❤❤
WWAM FAM 💪🏼 🤘🏼
After the original.....#3 Leatherface is my 2nd favorite....well thats a lie after typing that.. the 2003 remake is my 2nd. Leatherface is 3rd
Great review Mike! I personally enjoy TCM2 but I can totally see your points. The film is kinda hit & miss with people.
Thanks for understanding! Im glad you like it!
It’s worth watching the original trailer for chainsaw 3. It’s way better than the movie! Features nothing from the film. (No spoilers)
T h e S a w I s F a m i l y
Holy shit I did not know that.
The scene where LG helps stretch after he is skinned grossed out my brother!!!!
Leatherface looks like a cartoon. Movie is silly it's good but would of been better if it was creepy and serious as the first one
I’m looking forward to seeing the review for part 4. I know it’s considered the worst but honestly out of all of them, it’s my favourite. It’s so stupidly insane. Liked it even more once I’d learned about Illuminati 😂
Honestly if that's the Mcconaghey one I kinda remember digging it too lol
@@WeWatchedAMovie it’s that one. With Bridget jones too. It’s terrible but it’s funny. I’ve seen all of them and they are all terrible. except the 1st.
I would agree. It’s not one of my favorites, but watching it in my late 20s I appreciated it a bit more than when I was a teen. On the other hand I also liked the 2nd more in my teens than now. The original is a great film that is always a Halloween must for me. The other ones including the new ones it depends what mood I am in.
Can’t agree with u on chop top! I love this movie!
I'm in good company with you pal
You really misunderstood the point of the film I think. I appreciate you being honest to your beliefs though! As for them getting Dennis Hopper, it came out before Blue Velvet. Before then, the only time he's been of note was his short part in Apocalypse Now.

Hey Mike… great live stream …. Texas Chainsaw, again not so much….but I will check it out for the real gore…. the music in the film drives me nuts… yeah irritating characters drive me nuts to…I understand!! Luv you as Leathetface….hilarious.. Take care Luv Linda xx A big hello to J ! ❤️🪓💀
Have a great one Linda!
So glad I’m not the only one who didn’t like this movie.
I love Part 2 one of the best sequel's ever. Only flaw i have is the lack Of funds to have Dennis Hopper being in every scene of the movie. Hopper so good in it.
17:34 This part lol
Totally had to change clothes after this lol
I don't think a straight horror sequel would've worked - I liked the off-the-wall direction they went with but there were fucking annoying parts. Can't wait for the new one 🤘
I'm psyched too my man
Finally, someone else who doesn't like it. For a long time, I thought I was the only one
People do love it! I wish I did, lol.
I really luv this movie!!!!! 💪🏼🤙🏼💪🏼🤙🏼
I read this movie was supposed to be funny and that Chop Top was some iconic character. I don't get it. It was such a loud frenetic irritating movie.
Felt the same dude!
Get Jay to do the 2003 review with u
He said he's going to
Yeah... this one was odd. It threw me off the franchise when I was young. Although I'm one of those rare Tina fans from Halloween so my taste is all over the place.
J was the smart one here. Hehehe.
Mike buddy do you need a Hug? after re-watching TCM2 again... sounds like you need a Hug...(I wanted to Mike that the Texas chainsaw movies go better as they when't along i really did but they didn't...they didn't)
I am literally 3 minutes in and lmao😂
Thanks Johnny!
2 wasnt that bad def not my preffered tone the og and 2003 will always be top tier
Mike next to Gunnar Hanson your the best Leatherface
lmao thanks my friend
