      For me....
Scream (2022) was on the same level as Scream 4.... totally disappointing. Scream (2022) felt like an extended episode of the Scream TV series. They didnt do anything new or fresh and regurgitated pretty much the same from every scream movie. The movie also relied too heavy on nastolgia bate and couldn't find its own grounding or originality. It was pretty much a copy and paste of the first movie.
Also the fact that they had an un-experineced scrawny teenager that took on certain legacy characters with tons of experience in this field is an insult to scream fans.
The twist was so predictable, the acting was very corny and the killers motives were probably the weakest in the franchise.
Also too many people survived and everything just felt forced with the main characters.
The only thing it had going for it, was the kills, especially Judy's death. It was quite emotional seeing her trying to save her son, but then getting savagely stabbed by Ritchie.
I am never putting my faith into a Scream movie ever again. God knows why people are giving this a higher rating than the original.... come on now.
      I felt soo let down.
      2/5

I was more excited to see that Kirby did survive. I think she should headline a new version of the scream tv show. She's become kind of a serial killer expert after what happened and she's in a wheelchair. She never lets herself meet the suspects, cops in person. Kind of like Oracle. First season ties up the Emma Duvall/Brandon James story.

Mike, you absolutely nailed the review. First off, let me say I did enjoy the movie, although I have a few nit picks, but you pretty much covered them. Along with ghost face behind more brutal, my favorite part of the movie was definitely seeing Billy Loomis being incorporated into the film, in such a twist of a way. With that being said, my main problem with the movie was Stu not being in it. I was hoping that the killer was somehow involved with Stu, making it a complete circle. I really enjoyed all the mentions to previous installments and other horror movies, which was one of the coolest things the movie offered. Now to the original characters: They we're amazingly portrayed, and definitely took some of the best scenes throughout. Scenes between Dewey and Gale really tugged at the viewers heart in a way we probably not expecting. I cannot believe they killed off Dewey, he is one of my favorite horror movie franchise characters, but he went out like a badass... although Amber killed him and that's honestly BS. Totally didn't cry in the theaters. Anyways, great review, and can't wait for the movie rankings, and when you and J both get to sit down and talk about it!

I have an idea for scream 6
2 years later. Gale visits Dewey's grave and laments on the past. She goes home. Gale lights up a cigarette and steps outside. She comes back in and we see a shadow dart around in the background. Gale is watching TV when her head slammed into the coffee table several times. Gale attempts to fight back but is promptly stabbed in the chest. Sidney comes back when she learns that Gale was attacked.
Few twists: Dewey has a son and a daughter that he never knew about. From a relationship he had in the early 90's. His children come to learn about their father from Gail. Dewey's son has a son of his own.
Sidney has a half sister who is Sam's psychiatrist. Given up for adoption by a teenage Maureen. She has no idea that Sidney is her half sister. She is a psychiatrist and mother of two.
Stu is alive but has been locked up in a psychiatric hospital. Stu is heavily scarred from events of the first movie. He is legitimately sorry for Dewey's death. Stu is bald and has grizzled beard and sunken eyes.
Tara returns. But Sam is struggling and is undergoing therapy.
The big twist : Gale has become Ghostface. Years of trauma and losing Dewey caused her psyche to shatter. Her second personality is Ghostface.
Stu offers to help Sidney and save Gale . Stu tells Sidney he has cancer and he wants to make amends before the end.
Gail accidentally kills Dewey's daughter and it causes her to snap back to normal. Gail looks around and sees a dead stu and others and begs Sideny to kill her.
In the end Sidney kills Gale. Sidney cradles gales body in her arms and begins sobbing as the police show up.
Sidney helps them conceal gales murder spree and say that stu was responsible for the murders.
And we meet sidneys son who becomes a cop along with Deweys son. An unstable Sam is last seen talking with Billy Loomis as we see Tara in the background. Sam glares at Tara and the last sound we hear is Billy laughing.
An idea for scream 7 : Samantha is Ghostface. Sidney is an alcoholic who is at her lowest. Years of loss and trauma have finally broken her. She is just as ruthless as Ghostface.
The twist of scream 7 : The first supernatural moment occurs when Dewey seemingly returns to help Sidney one last time. Sidney succumbs to her injuries and a heavily injured Samantha gets away. Samantha is last seen driving away with her face bloodied and missing a few fingers. She asks billy if she did alright and he says yes. Sidneys funeral happens and her sister and family is present. Kirby meets with the injured Tara and they plan on stopping Ghostface.

I already knew he was going to die because I purposely spoiled the movie for myself, but I didn’t expect that I would ball my eyes out that much. I love how they gave his character some depth and that beautiful scene between him and Gale is super emotional. It really amplified the sentimentality we have for these characters. They gave the killers away far too easy. Especially him saying I'll be right back. It's a Meta "Requel" so first he's "long distance" yeah right, then arm cut (like Mark, nod) with the killer not fatally wounding him? And Ambers house is Stus, (although her filmed from outside in the first ten mins was the dead giveaway for me). The killers were the weakest part, the concept for Billy's daughter and returning cast was fire though! Amber being the one to kill Dewey, meh, we knew there were 2 killers for sure. Randy summed up this movie back in Scream 96 - "There's always some stupid bullshit reason to kill your girlfriend. That's the beauty of it all! Simplicity! Besides, if it gets too complicated, you lose your target audience."
The biggest twist with this movie, was the fact that they made you overthink it. They made you say "No, that would be too simple", but thats what Wes was always about. He was about the story, the characters, the little things that gave away the movie that you'd pick up as the movie went on. And because of that, I had no problem with who the killers were because it was so obvious (at least with Amber), that you thought it had to be someone else.
All in all, they did fantastic with this movie. They made you care about the characters, they hit you with the gut punches, and they left you excited and once again with questions about where it goes from here.
Also, small theory... I think Tara knew about it all. Survived basically three attacks in a Scream movie? Only kills Amber at the end when Richie is already dead.

Just saw the film for a second time today and I have to say that’s it’s watchable. I was still on the edge of seat and getting chills. I did loose it when Dewy’s theme came on and his death. He was also one of my favorite characters of the franchise. The moment that had me laughing was the sanitizer scene. It was funny for me. I definitely enjoyed this entry and would watch again when it comes out on Paramount+ soon. Great video!

If they would have kept the Dewey scene in the hospital as a faceoff between him and ghostface just like the trailer made it seem, that would have been amazing. And you’re telling me that little girl tossed Dewey around like that? A grown ass man….come on. And ghostface is clearly taller than Dewey which would add up either. Disappointing score. No Marco beltrami. Poorly paced death. No suspense. Just….typical

It worked in the trilogy cause Billy, Stu, and Mickey were strong dudes and Mrs Loomis, and Roman were actual adults so it's more believable. Jill, Charlie, and Amber were not even believable and Ritchie was a wimp physically despite his height.

I’m glad he went out a hero.
But I do think it should of been Gail who died.

Not to mention this was aged Dewey WITH A BEARD. It was a very specific setup for an original character dying, to raise the stakes.
Not to mention they brought his theme from Scream 2 back in that scene where he's "Back in the saddle one last time" to help the kids.

Gale would of made more sense to kill off legacy wise. Would of made Dewy more vulnerable and make us feel more for him when he would of obviously died eventually in 6. Gale wrote Stab and always had a shady side for fame and greed of the buck so as fans we never fully embraced her like Randy, Sydney or Dewy.
Imagine The originals was the building of a Hero tho and this set of trilogy looks to be the orgin story of a Villain which Sydney the Legacy Hero will have to Ripley the Fugg out of in the third film. This Sam chick is one Bad day from going Green Goblin and letting her Dead dad tell her how it's done right. Watch Stu show up and mastermind her ass into a new Chapter. The opening and middle-act makes this my favorite sequel since the third-acts in Scream 4 then 3 (Best third acts by sequel definition. None are as good as the original, but Scream 4's is close in my opinion.) The death scenes in this new Scream film were probably not the most gruesome of the franchise, but they felt very violent because we cared about the characters that died here like Dewey and Deputy Judy (Even though I hated her in Scream 4, I felt bad for her here.) Wes's death was the most shocking and most brutal to me, because he was just a good kid who was smart and then murdered all of a sudden, almost like how Casey's death impacted me, but not exactly as melancholy. Never saw Wes's death coming that early on in the film.
The third act was the weakest part in the film and has a plot hole with Sam Carpenter killing her boyfriend by herself, while Gale and Sidney are safe in the kitchen right next to them and the reveal of the killers themselves is my least favorite since Scream 2. It felt too obvious that Richie and Amber were the 2 killers, because there was barely anything backing that they were not, like the killers in Scream 2. I also felt like the phone calls from Ghostface were not as good here with creativity in dialogue like the lines Kevin Williamson came up with for Ghostface to use to scare the characters.

Just got out of the theater saw this for my birthday. I was kinda with it halfway through until the horrible 3rd act at the house. Killer reveal came out of nowhere in a bad way. You know which I speak of the first one. I was so mad by it that it made me knew who the other was. Sam wasn't a good lead either honestly. Killer motive was terrible and the killer choices were not good either for me. The Mickey knock offs. Yes no chases, costume reveal, killer motive. Trailer unfortunately showed everything in this movie even the killers.
