Caroline Williams reprises her role as Stretch from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) in a cameo as a news reporter. Director Jeff Burr said he imagined Stretch becoming a reporter following the trauma she experienced in the second movie in an attempt to hunt down Leatherface. Director Jeff Burr was fired at the beginning of production. When nobody else accepted the job, he was rehired. He claims that he was probably the 50th director offered the job, as names like John McNaughton, Peter Jackson, Sam Raimi, Tom Savini, Scott Spiegel, Renny Harlin, and many others had all turned it down. He also claimed that New Line forbade him from talking to Tobe Hooper but never found out why. Film trailer was done before they even had a director and before the production started. Submitted 11 times to the MPAA. On each submission, more and more footage was cut out, some of which was lost forever. The original script was much more brutal with explicit gore sequences. The producers objected to many of the scenes (one of which had a nude man being split down the middle while hung upside down) and demanded extensive changes to the script to reduce gore and violence. Further cuts had to be made to avoid an X-rating after the film was finished. This was the final movie to be given an "X" certificate by the MPAA before the rating was replaced with "NC-17". The house from this movie was also used in Alice Cooper's "House of Fire" music video. New Line picked up the rights to the series, hoping that if successful, Leatherface would replace their soon to be completed "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series. The box-office disappointment of this film caused New Line to let their option on the material expire. Kane Hodder - whose best-known role is that of another horror icon, Jason Voorhees - was the stunt coordinator for this movie. He was also R.A. Mihailoff's stunt double and played Leatherface in the trailer. There was also supposed to be a brutal "unmasking" scene, which would reveal Leatherface as horribly disfigured. That scene was scrapped (despite an obvious buildup during the opening credits) and saved because New Line wanted to use it in the next sequel, which never materialised. It was eventually used in the remake The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003). Property master Paul Byers designed the chromium Excalibur chainsaws for the film and was paid $3,000 for each. Three chainsaws were used for the movie, each of which had a plastic dummy replica. The opening scene, in which Leatherface creates his new flesh mask, is a homage to A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). Freddy is seen creating his razor-blade glove in the opening scene of NOES. This is due to New Line Cinema making TCM III after obtaining the rights to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre title and characters. Director Jeff Burr wanted to shoot the film in Texas using 16 mm film just like the original, but New Line rejected the idea because they had already built the house in California. Tom Savini was offered the job of directing this film The chainsaw in the movie weighed approximately 80 pounds. The ranch where most of the filming was done is so close to the Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park that director Jeff Burr swears you can hear screams from the rollercoaster during some takes. Leatherface is never referred to as Leatherface he's always referred to by his family simply as "Junior". Director Jeff Burr wanted Gunnar Hansen to return to the role of Leatherface, but neither party could come to an agreement on salary. Burr eventually settled on R.A. Mihailoff. Among others, one of New Line's first choices for director was Peter Jackson. The only Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie not filmed in Texas (it was filmed outside Los Angeles, California). Farmhouse and gas station were sets built for the film. obe Hooper, director of the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), was originally going to be involved in the film. He had submitted a treatment to New Line execs, but bowed out of the project due to scheduling conflicts concerning his film Spontaneous Combustion (1989). The armadillo hit by Michelle and the coyote thrown on the Mercedes both have earrings, the same as worn by Tinker. The song that plays when Leatherface jumps in his pickup truck and bears down on his victims in the pond is "Bored" by San Francisco thrashers, Death Angel. In the teaser trailer, Leatherface is portrayed by actor Kane Hodder, who would eventually be the stunt co-ordinator and R.A. Mihailoff's (Leatherface) stunt double for the movie itself. This isn't Hodder's first time playing an iconic horror villain; he played Jason Voorhees from 1988 to 2001, and even donned Freddy Krueger's iconic bladed glove for a scene in Jason Goes to Hell (1993). When Tex points out that the road map was printed in 1973, this is a reference to the first film, which was filmed in and is based on events that supposedly took place in summer 1973. Jon Hess lobbied to direct the movie, but New Line felt his ideas were too dark and gruesome. Leatherface's speaking toy is a PC Pal, made by Texas Instruments. The film was originally going to have Grandpa Sawyer to not only survive, but speak for the first time in the series' history, turning out to be quite talkative when in the mood and tending to ramble on about the good old days. For unknown reasons, it was decided to have him be a real corpse in this entry. There was actually a series of forest fires in Valencia, California, during filming. This prompted the crew to scramble and work hard to get the burnt forest out of the shots during filming. They even went to the extreme of not lighting the background so that the burnt-out trees would not be visible. Viggo Mortensen played Tex as though he were secretly gay. Originally slated for a November 3rd, 1989 release, the release date was soon pushed to January 12th of the following year. Tinker's death by bleeding out from his bullet wounds was cut from the film, leaving his fate a mystery. Leatherfaces chainsaw is a Stihl 066 magnum. This saw was built and cromed out by a dealer in Ca. It had a custom built 36" bar. these saws were built from 1987 to 1996. William Butler and Jennifer Banko were both in Friday The 13th 7: The New Blood. Ken Foree was in Rob Zombie's Halloween (2007). Duane Whitaker and Caroline Williams were both in Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 (2009). William Butler was in the remake of The Night of the Living Dead (1990), Ken Foree was in the sequel to the original 1968 classic Dawn of the Dead (1978). Initially refused any classification by the British Board of Film Censors, thereby killing off any prospects of a cinematic release. It has since been reclassified to 18 for home video and DVD release. The poorest performing film in the series up until the release of Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994). R.A. Milhailoff is the first left-handed actor to portray Leatherface. William Butler (Ryan) was in Friday the 13th part VII: The New Blood (1988) in which his character gets killed by Jason Voorhees, Joe Unger was in the original Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) in which he played a small role as a cop both Freddy and Jason would come together in Freddy vs Jason (2003). Jeff Burr wanted his name removed from the film, but was told that the first reel of the film had already been printed, so there were already 1,500 prints of the beginning of the film with his name on them. Burr also said there was never a "director's cut" of the film because it was constantly being submitted to the MPAA and so was always being re-edited to try to get an R rating. While filming the fight scene between Benny and Tex at the truck, Ken Foree accidentally broke Viggo Mortensen's ribs. The shot was seemingly left in the movie (you can see Mortensen suddenly clutch after being thrown to the ground). It was decided that Ken Foree's character Benny should live after he gained high favorable responses during early test screenings. The new ending was subsequently shot, in which somehow Benny pops up in the final scene, with a tiny flesh wound on his head (even though his death at the hands of Leatherface is strongly implied). Originally, Benny and Leatherface both succumbed to their injuries at the end of the movie, but New Line decided to shoot a new ending with editor Michael N. Knue in which both characters survive. Jeff Burr was very surprised when he saw the movie in the cinema for the first time; the new ending was shot without his knowledge. Ken Foree has an ending similar to his character in "Dawn of the Dead", the only survivor along with a white girl whose partner was killed by the threat.
The hand is "The Lady of the Lake" from Arthurian Legend. So it's like how she presented King Arthur with Excalibur. I do remember that trailer - pretty funny.
My take on the 'speak and spell' scene was leatherface sees the clown as a person, and therefore 'food' as hes a cannibal. So when asked what is this...its dinner
When you do your country impersonations I fall out every time 😂 I freaking love it. You need to give us a compilation or short film of all of your country characters please?!!!!
The Cook’s name in the original films script was W.E. Slaughter. That’s probably why they probably called him W.E. here, but to make things even more confusing, there is a completely new character named W.E. Slaughter in TCM4.
@@TheRealBGregz It’s a joke because the name of their restaurant in the first movie was “We Slaughter Barbecue”. It’s a little on the nose, but Hooper always insisted that Texas Chainsaw Massacre was a dark comedy. The Sawyer name wasn’t actually given to them until Part 2, which is something I never even realized for a long time because of how synonymous it is with the characters nowadays.
Honestly, I think this film was pretty decent and is very underrated, of course nothing tops the original but I don't think this was a bad TCM, it has its flaws but it's very entertaining as a standalone in my opinion, if you watch this film without attaching it to the others it is actually pretty good, the cast was great, Viggo Mortensen nailed his role as well as the others, don't understand why It got such a low rating, once again, it has its flaws but it's definitely a decent horror film.
agreed! i also think that 3 has one of the most badass Leatherface interpretations in the series. if the MPAA and New Line execs hadn’t meddled so much, if they had let Jeff Burr make the movie he wanted to, i think people would remember this one more fondly. i still love it, nevertheless. gotta watch the Unrated cut though!
great review as always man! as far as the speak and spell scene with leatherface though, i didnt really get the idea that "food" is the only word he knows how to spell. But ive always had the idea that when it shows a picture of a clown, leatherface doesnt see it as clown, but just as a human figure, and to them they view humans as food. just my idea anyways lol
I remember reading about this movie and they were talking about the slimy bodies being pulled out of those body pits. the decomposing bodies turn into dark sludge and of course it's hazardous. if any of it gets on you, you need to get to the hospital right away. you might end up dying. they said they got this idea from the real life incident that happened in Matamoros, Mexico. A college student vanished during Spring Break. His body, among many others, was found on a farm in mass graves. many of the bodies were found just like in this movie. Covered in sludge. the people that killed them were using them in voodoo like rituals and believed that the devil was going to protect them from the law. Crazy shit. As for that King Arthur/Lady in the Lake trailer....best thing I've ever seen as a kid. Up to that point, I had only see the TCM movies on home video. Then one day my dad took me and my friends to see some already forgotten movie at our local theater. when this trailer popped up, the audience went quiet. no one knew what it was about. I think everyone though it was just going to be some kind of artsy movie, or something that would end up one day winning an academy award. then we saw the hand come out and the chainsaw and then leatherface and everyone in the theater lost their minds. I couldn't wait. sadly when we went to see it, the movie was so dark that everyone in the theater complained. they told us that's how the movie was. it was total darkness with chainsaw noise everywhere.
Great review also I think the girl calls her doll "Sally" which is a nod to Sally Hardesty also that Michael Myers eating chips clip, was hilarious. The chainsaw is iconic too "The saw is family"
@WeWatchedAMovie I actually managed to snag the OG script and let me tell you? HELL OF A LOT OF DIFFERENCES man and I mean a lot! Leatherface chainsaws that one girl vertically from stomach to head, Alfredo uses hunting dogs, Tinker is a surrogate father to Leatherface who watches MTV and.... videos on the internet.
Hey Mike how are you , there he is again Leathetface! The man of the hour! Say hi to J and hope your all well! Hope you enjoyed the Superbowel Game, Quite an interesting game … luv you both Linda ❤️🔪🪓 looking fwd. to Wednesday night live chat! Can’t wait for NOPE!
I found this movie recently on DVD, but still havent watched it yet. When you showed the picture of the guy who looks like Billy from the OG Power Rangers I thought he looked familiar right away and then it hit me, he was Tom in the remake of Night of the Living Dead. After this review series I'm interested in seeing all of them now, after only watching the OG from 73, the remake, and The Beginning movie with the girl from Fast and the Furious and Matt Bomer, yet owning all of them.
TCM3 is actually my favorite out of the original series, crazy I know haha but it’s a mean, nasty, unforgiving film, and that’s what I want out of a TCM film. I also think this is the best Leatherface has looked to date (excluding the upcoming movie because from what they showed in the trailer, that may very well be the coolest looking Leatherface). Great reviews homie!
I actually really love this one. It kept me engaged all the way through. People told me this was one of the worst and the 2nd was the best....and no. LOL
@@DesiSJ goofy, perverted Leatherface from 2 (Bubba) never did it for me. the one thing i hold onto from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is Chop Top-he’s an awesome character and Bill Moseley rules. otherwise, TCM3 is waaaaay better for me.
@@DesiSJ if it didn’t have the same tone as The Next Generation i think i would enjoy it more, but 2 is just too ridiculous for me. i prefer my Leatherface to be more intimidating than goofy, definitely. i think this one would be my favorite, with Gunnar Hansen as a close second.
Out of the "original 4" this is my 2nd favorite. I go back and forth between this and part 2, but this feels more like a texas chainsaw movie than part 2 does.
Lmfao you’d fuck up mac n cheese … loved it and yes a Freddy vs leatherface cross over would’ve been ok…oh btw any of you guys remember the Jason vs ash comics? and leatherface as well ? They were pretty badass
There’s an episode of the Nickelodeon ninja turtles that features bill Moseley as a crazed store owner. Behind the counter is a chainsaw with engraved words the saw is family. The episode is about mutant dream beavers.
Best thing about this movie is the pervert gas station guy... I love his dialogue through the whole movie he's waked as shit, anyway great review actually looking forward to Friday's premier.🤘
I watched this movie after a blunt while drinking a mojito and I concluded that it was super hot trash. A total deficit of its original essence from the 1974 movie. I hated how this was a soft reboot yet marketed as Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3. The family could've simply been another set of Sawyers in a another part of Texas who were inspired by the Sawyers from the previous films
Love the review...one issue...if youbwatch the see n say scene again....itbkeeps landing on a person....and he types food....because that's how he sees people....they are food!!!
Great Review Mike. Leatherface Texas Chainsaw Massacre III Was Ok Not My Favorite. I Like The Original And The Sequel. I Love The Remake. Hope You Have A Wonderful Day Mike And Happy Anniversary To You And Your Wife.
Agree with you on this one. This film isn't nearly as bad as some fans make it out to be. Not the classic that the original is and not as batshit crazy fun as the second, but an OK watch by all means.
No J for Scream and no J for TCM. What the hell is going on here? Honestly, I’m starting to feel really bad for Mike… it sucks being left by yourself. Especially when the other person is still profiting off of said videos 😕
This is Mike - Not how it is AT ALL dude. It's really hard for us and our schedules right now, living an hour apart....constant covid close contacts....weather. I wanted to be able to do more content. So the stuff that J wants to do and can do he does. Just like tomm night we're doing the TCM remake. I always would rather have J shooting the videos with me but sometimes we can't do it. This was all actually my idea so it's not like that and absolutely nothing is wrong between us.
Great review Mike! This one is definitely my favorite of the series after the first one, without a doubt the best of the sequels and the remake and prequel. Lol absolutely cannot wait to see you review Texas Chainsaw Next Generation, that movie is freaking insanely awful, almost so awful you can enjoy it for being so awful.
@Free Thinker I've loved this movie since renting it back in the 90's from my old video rental store, always had a soft spot for this one. Theres alot that don't appreciate this movie, which i don't get, but to each their own. And The Saw Is Family Chainsaw is without a doubt the coolest weapon ever in a horror movie.
Leatherface TCM 3. Such a poor butchered movie. It had so much potential. I was 8 when it came out. My sister who is ten years older than me went to see it in the theater. I remember when it was released on video and she rented all three that were out at the time. She bitched up a storm saying that wasn't what she saw in theaters which all makes sense now. You have a bunch of former Friday the 13th actors in it. Like William Butler played a whinny bitch in this movie must still be pissed he never made it to his party in the new blood. Alfredo who was the cop at the beginning of the final chapter who directs the ambulance to the barn. This Leatherface was aggressive and kinda child like. Hard to tell whether he is slow or just has multiple personalities. I always liked what they did with what they had. I just wish they let this movie be it's self. Today this movie would be released without a cut. I believe Greg Nicotero did the effects too. Potential wasted but I still watch it. It is actually in my blu Ray player now... Lol
It's worth watching I guess because of Viggo :) In general this movie makes no sense really, unless we treat it as a remake/reboot? I guess in Next Generation they try to explain this in a some silly almost X Files way that this families are some government project? Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III is fine, nothing special though
Haha I thought you meant Ken F. was a doomsday prepper IRL. You segwayed from you smoking cigs with him right back into how his character acts in the movie lmao!!! I could see him out in his bunker buckling down for the zombie apocalypse.
No I didn't. Didn't see it. My guess is J saw it and deleted it bc he probably thought that was a dick move. We're friends who have fun together we aren't competing for who's better. Doesn't have to be that way. But hey that's cool man.
Here's our NOPE Trailer reaction on our patreon (Free for everyone) ruclips.net/video/DFETOEkSR_Q/видео.html
Sweet, by the way? Looking at TCM3? You know Bill Moseley has an idea for a third film that had the family surviving and moving to MANHATTAN!
“Slipknot cover band from West Virginia” bro had me dying 😂😂

We're both gonna review it!
I enjoy this one but it would've been a lot better if the studio and MPAA had fucked off.
My almonds are so active right now.
The little girl that's in the vague subplot is the sister to the girl killed in the opening.
The guy that played Alfredo was in dances with wolves
I found this movie recently on DVD, but still havent watched it yet. When you showed the picture of the guy who looks like Billy from the OG Power Rangers I thought he looked familiar right away and then it hit me, he was Tom in the remake of Night of the Living Dead. After this review series I'm interested in seeing all of them now, after only watching the OG from 73, the remake, and The Beginning movie with the girl from Fast and the Furious and Matt Bomer, yet owning all of them.
We are deep in the hole buddy!! great review Mike buddy hope the Texas Chainsaw Massacre that is coming to Netflix this Friday turns out good 👍!!
Saw that chainsaw from the trailer in Bass Pro Shop
I actually really love this one. It kept me engaged all the way through. People told me this was one of the worst and the 2nd was the best....and no. LOL
i would watch this one over 2 any time, any day.
@@lucasgrezaud6582 Same!
@@lucasgrezaud6582 Bill Mosley is so good but yeah even he couldn't save TCM2 for me.
One of my favorites....90's horror beauty....
Mike you met Ken Foree? That's wild. I wish I could go to scare fest man!
Just Like Zack Snyder Give Us The Jeff Burr Cut
Out of the "original 4" this is my 2nd favorite. I go back and forth between this and part 2, but this feels more like a texas chainsaw movie than part 2 does.
I always wanted to see Leatherface vs. Jason or Micheal Myers.
Lmfao you’d fuck up mac n cheese … loved it and yes a Freddy vs leatherface cross over would’ve been ok…oh btw any of you guys remember the Jason vs ash comics? and leatherface as well ? They were pretty badass
The good thing is making a good leatherface sequel shouldn’t be hard😂
Mike u need to come to Wisconsin next year. I got season tix for packers. Let an awesome subscriber treat you bro!!
Mike your description of the male lead fucking had me dying!!!!!!
This is one of my top 3 of the franchise. Prob because I watched it so much as a kid
Benny is literally the reason I liked this film. Leatherface is pretty cool in this one as well
First: The chainsaw of that movie is too damn! big and second: Yes, youre right would be awesome to see Freddy Krueger VS. Leatherface in a movie.
Your channel and your videos are so awesome and cool 😎 😀 👌
You need an Oscar for your Leatherface
Hey guys I love you guys videos soon are you guys going to bring back Loomis in Michael
I love the cuts with you as leatherface, cracks me the fuck up.
The little girl in this movie also played young tina in friday the 13th the new blood. I got this movie on dvd and cant find it for s**t!
Leather face dreams would probably creep Freddy out lol.
This was the first one I ever saw,I knew who Leatherface was but hadn't seen any of the movies , I remember the trailer playing on tv
I liked this flick( the uncut version of course), and I loved Benny!!
Dude. The blue ranger dude is Tom from Night of the living dead 1990
@Free Thinker 😂😂😂
The Texas Benny Massacre. This was an action movie to me 😂
Agree with you on this one.
Lol
You guys crack me up. Salford England. Sawyer is a well saw you. Chopped in original Sawyer was not mentioned but !!!!!
Definitely have an appreciation for this sequel
grandpa in this movie was already dead
Jennifer Banko plays Leatherfaces daughter not Vigos
When they do full " vs movies" I feel it cheapens the villains a bit . Makes them lose there edge. But a subtle nod or cameo might have been cool
It's worth watching I guess because of Viggo :)
In general this movie makes no sense really, unless we treat it as a remake/reboot?
I guess in Next Generation they try to explain this in a some silly almost X Files way that this families are some government project?
Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III is fine, nothing special though
A Slipknot cover band from West Virginia.... well, I have a new entry on my bucket list.
Yeah that guy was a douche in Night of the Living Dead with Tony Todd as well. 🤣
early 90's BatShit Crazy Goodness and leatherface Pot-Holder!!! You Need a Pot-Holder for handleing thi soup;)
I think this is the best Texas chainsaw sequel but that isn't saying much
I want that golden chainsaw. 😀👍
Great review. Imo this is the most forgettable Texas Chainsaw Massacre film.
Not long to new teaxs chainsaw
Haha I thought you meant Ken F. was a doomsday prepper IRL. You segwayed from you smoking cigs with him right back into how his character acts in the movie lmao!!! I could see him out in his bunker buckling down for the zombie apocalypse.
*segued
Is it soup yet… lol me an my buddy’s would always say tht all the time the movie has its moments.
I just watched TCM 95 absolutely dreadful.
Mike deleted my comment saying jay is better 😂
No I didn't. Didn't see it. My guess is J saw it and deleted it bc he probably thought that was a dick move. We're friends who have fun together we aren't competing for who's better. Doesn't have to be that way. But hey that's cool man.
This is definitely not my favorite this movie is meh.
This movie... LOL
