Hi Tom's, I just have a question, I have tried to drill a hole as the video shows but now the coffee is even worse than before. I have order a no presurized basket and I am waiting to receive it. Is it possible that I'm not getting the same results as yours because I'm using a bad coffe? I use a grounded coffe because I don't have the machine to ground it my self. I use the lavazza italian brand. Sorry for my bad English and thanks for your reply
If you don't have a drill bit to make a hole likes what Tom did professionally, you can also do that by hammering a nail through. But to make the job easier, a smaller diameter nail should be used first, then making the hole bigger by using a bigger diameter one. Placing the cup on a piece of wood with the bowl facing upwards, then hammer the nail down (This is to prevent the cup from being dented if bowl facing downwards) and any protruding burrs outside the bowl can be smoothed out easily by using a simple file or a dremel (if you have one).

Howdy! The baskets are pretty affordable, and allow larger doses, so I would recommend picking up an aftermarket, non-pressurized one. Cheers!
This looks interesting. Thanks for sharing!
great videos bro! keep up the good work
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
My question is: Why do manufactures made pressurized baskets in first place?
ita for corser coffee like store bought pre ground coffee
I think because a lot of people use preground Lavazza coffee...
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Thanks !
Would this be compatible with the portafilter provided by Delonghi?
You betcha!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Nice! I've been looking for a solution that didn't involve buying an entire new portafilter.
I did it , now no problems with clogged hole
I will used the port filter thanks
Interesting... Does that work also on a ECP 3420?
Sure. It should work to depressurize any baskets like this.
hace you tried to make the hole 2 o 3 cm wider ?
Nope, I don't have an ideal drill bit for that.
This is just cool, looking forward to some DiY. Thanks!
Very nice, Martin! Have at it! 😉
thanks for sharing this nice explanation ...
can we not make the hole bigger, like thrice or four times bigger
Hmm, yes I don't see why not. It will just be a little harder to drill through the metal, but should be doable.
Tom is a great idea 😄 Ребята, просверлили, результаты есть?
I think if I made a bigger circle than that, it would be better? what do you think؟
Sure, it could work as well.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thx alot
Hello! Helpful video! Related to the coffee machine EC685, the machine is newly bought yet for single shot and double shot, it barely produces any coffee and stops after 3-5 sec max. Is it due to grind size or is there something wrong with the filter?
Try grinding coarser, especially if you're using the included presurized filter baskets. Cheers!
Couldnt you just cut off the second wall with the hole in it? As to make it an actual bottomless basket?
It's not really easy to do. I have done it with a Dremel, but it was a pain in the butt.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner wow, thanks for the quick reply! Does it work properly tho? I will do it then but didnt know if the little screen would leak on the sides or something.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Does it work properly? Does the little rubber seal properly seat?
One question, I bought a non pressurised filter but no matter how fine coffee is, extraction time is always the same and always too fast. How can I change that?
Hey David, check out this video for extraction tips. If it is still too fast, normally it has to do with beans that have not been freshly roasted. What kind of beans do you use? You'd be surprised just how much difference freshly roasted beans make, if you haven't tried them yet.

Thank You very much Tom! This tiny little hole, make espresso great!
Great video .
Thank you 👍
That is an awesome idea
Tnx for this it happened to me no water coming out to this baskets
This is genius!!! Try it!!!!
Hey! That’s a nice idea. Especially now, when I finally bought eureka mignon specialita. (Mostly because of you using it, heh). Now it would be great to have a depressurised basket because the grinder is capable for it.
Nice vid! Thanks!
Yes, actually I got the idea from a commenter on a forum I believe. Cool experiment, I agree! Should I jot you down for the giveaway?
@@TomsCoffeeCorner I am thinking of buying a depressurized basket right now, but I don’t have any ideas… I doubt whether there are good portafters on aliexpress, so I would really love you to write me down)
@@chekauk7596 Sure, you are noted. But, I would suggest to everyone to just go with Amazon, not Aliexpress. I have included Amazon links in the description box. With Amazon, you get quicker delivery, a rated product, and you can return it if it doesn't fit. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner oh, ok. I’ll watch through those links you attached! Thanks!
Would be a great motivation to buy that new grinder xD
Why do you do that? Pressure gives espresso quality for your coffe.
So I can use freshly ground coffee, from a good grinder. The coffee should provide the pressure.
I think the coffe let some gap in the container so I dont think it can give you the necessary 7+ bar pressure.
I would love to have them pls
Oh I’m sorry Elie, but the winner has already been drawn. Thank you for watching! 😉
Nice tip...! Im in too!
not too bad bro..can try it
i cant resist a good coffee giveaway. im in
thanks my friend
Thanks
More safe way to do the hole a bit bigger is to use dentist drill bits
I tried depressurise the basket on my Delinghi ECO310 and it definitely made the coffee taste worse!!!
Well, beware that if you depressurize your basket, that you have to grind finer.
i tried this method and managed to cut both my arms off and both my legs ,i also breathed in metal shaving ,and had to have my lung removed . not only that .one of the metal shaving got into my eye and snap ,had to have to eye removed . stay safe everyone .im using mind control to write this comment . 😂🤣😅

I’m in for the giveaway ! Thanks for your videos
But why?
I did same and it ruined my coffee, I just discovered that I must grind fine, I am sad
Do you have a grinder yourself? If not, the Kingrinder K4 is the best for the price.
Great video series, love the porn music overlay (haha), just got a new Dedica and it's already struggling to produce expresso, had to run it like 8 times to get enough to call it a double so obviously there is an issue with the filter, will try some of your troubleshooting ideas, thanks
!
I did it and now not crema in my espresso be careful if you don't know what you doing
Well now you need to grind finer, and use fresher beans. Cheers!
It took me 5 seconds with a hammer. No workshop/dremel needed.
should have watched this earlier..... 🥳
Whats the purpose of depressing??
Id say better extraction and smoother better looking flow
That's nonsense, a sieve costs 8 euros.
Soooo the obvious....WHY ?would you depressurize
To make americano

What do volcanoes mean? Is that good?
these is a disastre is better buy a new canaste
Please don’t wear gloves while drilling
Why not? Do you mean if the gloves got caught in the drill?
A mask for drilling a small hole into a sheet metal? Sorry, glasses ok. Can make sense, gloves not so much. You don't wear gloves when handling power tools. But a dust protection mask? Really not nessecary. Even for the deburring afterwards this is overkill.
You also have to consider that protection also disturbs and can interfere with your vision thus an accident is more likely to happen especially if the person is unskilled
