As someone who just bought a Dedica as recently as a couple of weeks ago - this video is a GODSENT. Thank you so much for putting all of your gadgets/aftermarket mods and advice into one single video, Tom! Much love.
Tom has been a Dedica godsend for me. I'm in the process of modifying mine to use the "Gaggiunio" modification. Everything is pretty much straighforward except for the pressure release valve, which the Dedica doesn't have. If you decide you want to "hack" your Dedica to a whole new level of control (pressure, temperature and profiling), check out the "Gaggiuino" project.
@@jasonng5194 I'm just going in blind. The first thing I did was build the version for an actual Gaggia Classic. I followed Tom's lead on where to install the pressure sensor. I had originally placed the thermocouple next to the pressure sender, but it wasn't very accurate. I found a nice spot on the boiler. The whole thing can be placed where the stock circuit board fits. Tom..if me providing these links rubs you the wrong way, let me know. I bought a DL2TH26E pressure less basket and it didn’t fit the tamper and the leveler. It was too narrow. I sent it back to Amazon. Are there any high quality baskets that fit the 51mm tamper or should I be satisfied with my cheap baskets? In what way doe’s expensive baskets make a better espresso?
I don't own any coffee machines, don't plan on buying a Delonghi, but enjoyed every single point you've made. I'm sticking around your channel, subbed. Thanks a lot!
Just a quick update from me. After watching your videos, I upgraded and invested in the Normcore bottomless portafilter, and the IMS 16-18 basket. Once I’d done this, it revealed my existing grinder was rubbish so I went for the Baratza ESP. Wow is all I can say. I know I’m using very high quality beans and I honestly think I’m making flat whites that are better than most commercial outlets. Not arrogant, just a bit of a tribute to the education I received here.
That's awesome - thanks for sharing your experience! With good beans and a decent grind, and watching your ratios, you often can do better than cafes, especially the ones where the baristas don't watch their ratios, nor steam silky milk. Cheers!
@@blairhesson660 I went as low as 11 I think. But I’m using some different beans currently and up to 14. They say start at 15. I think it all depends on the beans you’re using
@@Goatmasterfunk yes It does say 15, I’m using a dark roast so I’m at 17. I have the delonghi pressurised baskets and I can only fit 12g of coffee grounds in the double.
Hey Tom, I’m new to the coffee game, I’ve just bought one of these Dedicas on your recommendation. Now wanted to say thanks for this guide too! Keep it up.
Initially, I was disappointed with the results of this DeLonghi espresso machine I purchased last week and had planned to return it. However, after watching your DeLonghi videos , I have decided to keep the machine and upgrade it with the accessories you recommended. Thank you very much, Tom! You always have a positive attitude and a nice vibe 👍
Having never had a coffee machine ever I’m buying this machine based on your reviews and demonstrations. It’s a great channel and I’ve watched all your content. Very very helpful for a beginner like me👍
I bought a double baske by ims and a bottomless portafilter that you recommended for the dedica device. but when I put the coffee in and run the water, the syringe does not go as well as in your video, there is no cream and it looks watery and black. why is that and am i doing something wrong?
For those looking to upgrade the portafilter make sure you buy one that has the correct number of ears! For instance my machine is a EC885m and requires a 3 ear portafilter.
Thank you so much for this video! I couldn't find any decent portafilter in local shops, and after your video I ordered the Normcore one with the IMS double basket. Oh man what a difference does it make! Worth every penny, I can feel so many new tastes in my espresso
Thank you Tom! This has been very useful! One note, the linked Normcore portafilter will not fit the Dedica Maestros (ec900 and ec950). The IMF basket has been an amazing and instantaneous upgrade in flavor! Again thank you so much! ☺️🥳👏☕️
@@ptorru Thank you so much for your support! You are right, the EC 900 and EC 950 do require the PF that fits the La Specialista line. I’m glad you are enjoying your machine. :-)
Not lucky yet to own one but I had to say that your videos are one of the best videos ever that make it look very simple and motivating to get a machine. Thank you for all the efforts put in making such great videos ❤
Just bought this model from a used marketplace that was barely used and looks mint. Made my first double with milk frothed. I had problems due to the Almost Lactose free milk (while it worked, it became too foamy), seems it would lack certain proteins to make the proper consistency of milk at the right temperature. I'll invest in those upgrade items this week. Paid $140.00 cdn for the unit, I'm already in love with it.
Thank you! I've had my dedica for a year, and it completely died. I found a video on how to replace the pressure valve and water pump. Did that and then discovered the double espresso basket was shot. I've been wanting a bottomless portafilter anyway but these additions I'm getting them too! I'm excited for my espresso to be even better than it was.
I bought nearly the same machine + accessory without watching your video. However I bought the ec885 and I am getting brilliant milk foam out of the box. Because of a useable tamper and milk can included, those 50$ more is a good investment. The grinder which goes fine for me is a sage barista pro.
I have been following your channel since getting my EC685 some months ago. Started with pre-ground beans before getting a bottomless portafilter, manual grinder and scale as per your recommendations. It took trial and error to get the correct setting on the grinder before I got a smooth and consistent flow from the portafilter. Thanks for all your valuable advice. As an aside I am getting good exercise using the manual grinder 😂😂
I liked this video very much, so complete with demos, features and understanding about our Delonghi Dedica. Tks for sharing with us! I have a Timemore C2 grinder, could you explain how many clicks to adjust for Expresso ? I usually set it to 10 clicks. Tks in advance!
Hi there! I had a Timemore Chestnut, and ran that at 7-8 clicks. You just have to experiment and find the taste you like. Try to aim for a double yield of the coffee, in 25-30 seconds, and adjust to taste.
Thanks Tom. I'm having an issue lately with the dedica with side channeling. Mine is fully modded but it didn't happen before. No amount of wdt changes anything. Coffee still tastes good though but it's messy. I'm thinking about a puck screen.
Interesting bit about how to turn the flashing lights off! I have been using an alternative I found out for years now, it’s as simple as switching the machine off, waiting 5 seconds and turning it back on. But yours is cooler and I’ll take it any day !
thank you so much, I'm a newbie to using an espresso machine (just bought a bit different model of delonghi) so the video couldn't be more helpful. Really looking forward to learning more :)
Im enjoying this machine and your videos were one of the reasosn i bought it. The only thing ill say is that people who use pre ground coffee can face issues. It needs a fairly coarse grind and a fine one will choke the machine. It's been difficult getting the right grind because i dont grind my own coffee so i have to buy pre ground 200-250 g at a time and keep trying
I just bought the new Deduce 885, and so far I am loving it. It's a learning curve from someone who owned a Lavazza pod machine, and I am slowly getting used to it. My next upgrade is to get a bottomless portafilter and then a grinder. I am watching all your videos now :)
I got my Dedica in December, I'm really interested to start out purchasing some accessories. I like the way the machine works stock (I'm not a picky customer 😂) but if I could get better results for not much more investment, that's always welcomed.
I have a doubt regarding the time with this machine. The preinfusion should be count as time for the expresso? It's about 4.5s in Dedica, so it will highly impact in the result if you are aiming for 25-30s.
I found these videos very helpful. I have a 685 and have recently bought the Normcore bottomless and the IMS H26 basket. I’m really struggling with extraction though. Hardly any crema - just a ring around the outside, some spraying, and for around 16g of coffee / 35g total liquid, in extracting in just 22 seconds. My Bodum burr grinder is on the finest setting too. Definitely using good beans and to be honest the pressurised baskets have always given me good results and great crema. I’m a bit stuck on what to try next….
Well, the Bodum grinder is not meant for non-pressurized extractions. I'd try a grinder dedicated to espresso for that. Here's a few to check out: kit.co/tomscoffeecorner/grinder-suggestions
@@TomsCoffeeCorner hi again. I’ve had it confirmed the KINGrinder K4 is now discontinued. I guess they’re replacing it with the K6. Any opinions? Thanks as always
My dedica, just started a new life in my holiday house. Following a break not using the machine for several months, return was amazing!! Rich, tasty, juicy, with very good extraction!! Receipt, 18 gr in 45 gr out. Fillowing flat white removing pinarelo ...
Great video. I just ordered the IMS filter as the one I have been using that came with my open portafilter holder from amazon has bowed at the bottom as described in the video. The result of this is too much flow and I have to keep dialing my grinder to a finer setting which still gives me too much coffee.
Hi Tom, I will shortly be returning to where my Dedica is and I have bought a beautiful new bottomless portafilter, a Matow palm distributor, and a nice heavyweight tamper for it. I am also bringing along my set of scales. All of these were bought after watching your informative videos! I am hoping to get an amazing coffee from the Dedica but will probably have to source some good beans and a grinder! I will report back if the old Delonghi non pressurized baskets that I had with my old machine will fit in the new portafilter. Btw , now having used the Sage/ Breville Bambino Plus and the cheaper Bambino machines which I have set up in similar ways, I would tell anybody looking to buy between these two machines that the extra money for the Plus is definitely worth it even if you don't care about the auto frothing ( I never use it) . Everything about the Plus is better quality than the stripped down Bambino which I would not buy again if I had to it over. Just my opinion.....
A quick update- the old non pressurized baskets did not work in the Dedica but the new bottomless portafilter had one included. My advice on the Bambino Plus being worth the extra over the more basic Bambino still stands . I have being using the automatic steamer on the Plus occasionally and it can be a fun time saver- works surprisingly well!
I have always loved your approach to videos. You are one of my favorite RUclipsrs regardless of content. I love how your demonstration is the main takeaway of the video, and you are there simply to deliver the content, rather than being ofer the top and "showy". Although, I think I am realizing this is due to me being a Minnesotan, and growing up in an area with a similar personality ;)
That is so kind of you to say, thank you for your feedback! I have fond memories of ice fishing on Winnebegosh. Great fishing you got over there in Minnesota! Just hope my Packers can beat the Vikings without ARod, but I don't think so. :( Anyway, cheers and have a good day! Tom
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Not a problem at all! I do feel rather spoiled with the fishing in Minnesota. I have great memories of the Apostle Islands, and the Bayfield Apple Fest. Also, I fear that both our teams might be taking a back seat to the Lions and Bears for a few years unfortunetly :(
Hi Tom. Thanks for video. I use bottomless portafilter but I cannot have crema as yours. I have Graef Cm702 grinder, even I grind at the finest degree, I take only black espresso without crema. My coffee dose is 16 grams at least. I tried with robusta beans but still same.

Posted a month ago. I just picked one of these up for $10. I have no clue what I'm doing and I very much appreciate this video. I will be learning and making some espresso. I have three already ground packs that probably aren't the best but hey they were free. I was just going to try to see what I can do without an espresso machine. I just so happened to come across this one today at a garage sale. Also got a very nice grinder to go with it. I don't know if it works yet. I know the grinder turns on. I'm liking the Colectivo shirt. I sure do miss Milwaukee and all the Colectivo locations
Wow, nice! Great deal on the machine, and it's nice that you know Colectivo too! It's my favorite coffee shop in the area, that's for sure. The atmosphere and the drinks are great, albeit expensive. Part of the reason that I started on the home espresso journey. I still like to go there when I am in town. Anyway, which grinder did you pick up? Cheers, Tom
Hey Tom, thank you for all your videos and information. One question about IMS basket. Why people choose DL2TH24E or DL2TH26E to make a single coffee if with the 22E you can do it as well with less coffee. I don't understand. Thank you for you answers.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.. your video about the descaling porcess was very helpful too. Do you have any suggestions for a better home espresso machine up to ~500 euros?
Savage video dude. I have the same machine but since I switched to open portafilter I can see a lot of “spray” or “channelling” which is super annoying. I’m gonna upgrade to the IMS basket as I can’t seem to find what else it could be. 😮

Yeah I was so disappointed when it happened to me initially. I was using a sub 100 dollar Frigidaire espresso machine and the commercial espresso grind from my local coffee shop used to work perfectly. With this? It choked so hard I was scared I broke it. Now I'm going to try moka pot grind size or aeropress as per your suggestion
My Dedica, which I bought last year in Athens, Greece, has a horrible steam wand--it is for clueless people and I haven't found a trick so that I can use it for microfoam which I usually easily make with other machines (I also have a gaggia but I modified that wand with a rancilio steam wand). Thank you for any steaming tips if one has the bad steam wand!
I was about to curb my dedica, literally, until I realized it could be a true contender with a simple portafilter/basket replacement. So glad, because I don't have $500 lying around! Thanks for all these tips. I'll probably buy all of these doodads
Hi Tom, bought this machine week ago, I'm trying to learn about world of coffee. The problem is that shots are quick and with no crema. I'm using bottomless (generic basket) portafilter and coffee is grinded in the finest grade of a mellita grinder. With stock portafilter shots are quick but with a few more crema than with bottomless. Coffee was lavazza Rosso recently bought in supermarket and shots were well tamped. Thanks, great videos!
You’ll have a much more pleasant time if you source some freshly roasted coffee. Means you don’t need to grind so fine. Supermarket coffee will almost never tell you when it was roasted. Aim between 8-10 days after roasting, and then to use it before 4-6 weeks after roast date
Thank you for explaining. I watched your another video where you talk about plastics in coffee machines. My question is, does this coffee machine have many plastic parts in contact with hot water?
Hi tom, first of all, thank you. I have a DeLonghi machine and your videos have been very educational. I have one question about the leak problem. I use bottomless portafilter but some beans are making leak some beans are not. also, I using a timemore c2 grinder. do I need to adjust the grinder for all beans? Or do I need to change parts on my machine?
Do you mean channeling? You might need to check your puck prep, or make sure you are using freshly roasted beans. Thank you so much for all of the great info! Can you please share how you’ve upgraded the steam wand? I’ve blown the rubber tip off in my milk every time I’ve used it. I tried the zip tie, and clearly I’m not doing it right.
You have to put the zip tie right in the divot. Check the picture here (about 60% down the page): tomscoffeecorner.com/delonghi-dedica-the-ultimate-review/
Thank you for your great videos. A quick question, I just bought the Dedica 685 and I wonder why should I buy those tools while I already got them all with the machine?
Hi Tom, your videos are the most informative ever! Love 'em! Question: On this Dedica EC680M, can the pressurized puck w/handle be switched off with the non-pressurized accessory you recommended EIFOCWCY with the wooden handle?
Your videos have been immensely helpful. I made some upgrade’s you recommend with great results. Question- should I be using a water filter cartridge with my machine (inserted in water reservoir) our water is hard. Or do I just descale monthly. I Britta filter my water.
Hi Tom. Have you tried some attachable nozzles to replace the original panarello? I mean in order to get better steam without the lengthy process of changing the whole steam wand for a Rancilio One. Would like to see a video of that attachable steam nozzles. Thanks.
Could you please show how to install a thermometer on this model and also can you tell more how to change the steamer on this model. Thank you for the video!

Hey Tom, your videos are helping me get the most out of my Dedica machine. Thank you! One question I have been struggling to find an answer to is whether or not you can get a good shot from the Dedica using Illy espresso ground coffee? (I appreciate you can get better coffee with freshly ground coffee). I see a few people complaining that the Illy espresso grind is super fine but would love to hear your experience
Great video! Have you since tried out the larger 20-25g capacity IMS basket (H32)? I have an EC885, and was curious about trying out that basket with it.
Hi! I really appreciate your channel, it's a huge source of knowledge! I have a doubt about the IMS basket. Can I use it with the original portafilter? Another question is if the original tamper (that comes with the Dedica Arte) fits the IMS basket; I've read it's so tight and many people get problems with that. Thank you so very much for your great content! Greetings from Andalucía!
Just a pair technical question, -in a single basket do I have to finer grind settings to hold the 30 sec brew -time but the bitterness belongs of the fineness of the coffe. What is the best way with a single basket? - do you recommend the paperfilter under the coffee in the basket? Your videos are very helpfull, Danke!
Servus! Yes, I find that a finer grind is necessary for single shots. The jury is out for me whether or not to use paper filter. You have to choose yourself...I think it removes some mouth feel, which I prefer to preserve. Cheers!
Love this video, I realy like to see comparrison this machine with Ariete 1381. It looks like it is the same magnufacturer as Delonghi, so I am pretty sure you going to get more from the Ariete 1381 compared with EC685 for the price.
No, the Ariete looks like the standard chinese model, like the Gevi 20 bar, Silvercrest SSMS, or Koenic. I think those all come from the same off the shelf chinese supplier. Not the same as Delonghi.
Thanks for mentioning how you may not be able to taste the difference between the expensive shower screen. I got a free dedica when I moved in, and I don't care about getting everything dialed in. I just want a passable espresso, not a hobby, but I appreciate your video teaching how I can do some simple stuff with my machine.
Tom! I’m not sure you remember me or not we did a WhatsApp FaceTime a few years ago when you helped me out with an accordion issue. Crazy thing is, I’m now an accordion tech (completed a 2-year apprenticeship) and I’m also doing coffee stuff now 😂😂😂 dude that’s how I found this video! I’m glad you’re well my friend!
Haha, that's so funny Antonio! Hope you're well. Where are you based out of? Sometimes I still get requests for repairs, and I tell people they have to find an accordion tech. Cheers!
Thank you for your review! after watching a lot of reviews, it is becomming more difficult to choose the right machine for me. hope you can help or advice. I am most of the time a black (lungo) coffee drinker, preferable bit stronger. after seen a lot of options I downsized it to the dedica en rivelia. 95 out of 100 just drinking black lungo coffe, and the other 5 a cappuccino. Just saw and hear working with the dedica is creating a bit more mess. like to hear your thought and experience. Thank you!
Just started seeing your videos. Thank you. Cannot find a bottomless portafilter for my ecp 3630. I did see your video about drilling a hole. But I don't understand why I cannot purchase one???

Hi Tom, I really like your videos. I got myself a Dedica 855 and I love it so far. I'm actually getting pretty confident with it. But some questions are still unanswered and I couldn't find the answers on the Internet. So ... 1. When do you start the timer? With pushing the button including the pre-injection or after the pre-injection? I usually count round about 26 seconds after the pre-injection. 2. What is the right ratio for a single shot? I found that simply dividing the ratio of a double doesn't work. How much coffee in and how much out in which time? The coffee with a single basket doesn't run that smoothly than a double basket. It usually even runs faster. So with 9g in and a extraction time of 12sec I end up with round about 30g out. I think thats it so far :) Thanks for your answer and the nice videos!
I start timing at the button press, because that is when the puck starts absorbing the water. As for single shots, they are hard to do. You have to grind a lot finer, and even then they will run faster than ab double, relatively speaking.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner It is very difficult, but not impossible :). Check it out: ruclips.net/user/shortsOuXBYIFxB3g I only try to make a single shot. My experience is that it is impossible to make the same shot twice.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner the truth is we rarely see single shots, 7 to 10 grs, in internet (instagram, shorts, youtube, etc), we only see 16 to 20 grs shots. And the thing for me is, when I started "this barista thing", four monthes ago, I used to drink 2 coffees per day in the steet (7 + 7 grs). Now, I drink in my house the same 2 expressos, but with 15 + 15 grs! I doubled the caffeine per day. Only because I followed the mood in the net and it is really more dificult to make single shots! My question is why can we drink so nice 7 grs single shot in the comercial coffee shops and it is so dificult at home with the Dedica or the Specialista? Thanks in advance for your comment!
Oops, didn't get everything on there! Here you mention the shower screen. Are you saying that the shower screen that comes with the Dedica I just bought isn't as good as replacing?, or snapping on a new shower screen (the two examples you recommend)? Why are the 2 new screens you are recommending better and how would they be replaced? I am enjoying the great quality coffee extractions I'm getting with the Dedica and am really excited about making other Italian coffee recipes. Thanx!
Many thanks for this great video. Just a few questions on my side to be sure: a. Would it work to remove the plastic of the Dedica porta-filter and put an IMS filter in the original Dedica porta-filter ? Or is there no other way than changing the porta-filter ? b. With a new porta-filter and a new filter, how do you serve 2 expressos at the same time ? Many thanks again
Thank you for your informative videos. I own my delongi now about 2 month and just ordered a bottomless filter... I'm very curious to see and taste the difference...👍
Hi Tom! Thanks for the videos, they are definitely enhancing my enjoyment of my Dedica. I am wondering of you use a non-pressurized portafilter capable of 2 streams. I enjoy making 2 shots of espresso at once using the provided filter and would like to try a non pressurized one. Definitely going to pick up a bottomless however, from what I can tell, it will only do single stream. Thanks again!
Hi Tom, great tipps and explanations as always. We get one of these thingies tomorrow for our office, I have found it used but in very good condition on ebay classifieds for around 60 Euros - someone bought it, made a few shots, wasn't really into espresso and didn't use it further on. So there's enough budget in our coffee till left for accessories. I'm a little excited, I must admit...😃
@@TomsCoffeeCorner The Dedica is in really good shape. After a little reprogramming (cup volumes were far from set well) and some grind tests with a fine Andraschko espresso and using your top tips, it produces lovely shots with crema as thick as whipped cream... this was a lucky bargain. Thanks for the good advice!
Hi, everyone!! I hope you can help me. I've been searching for a 58 mm thermoblock machine, but I only found the Ascaso and for me is unaffordable. Any recommendation on a cheaper machine with those 2 requirements?? Thanks a lot in advance
great! whatever the profile of the coffee, is it always preferable to use the temperature hack before taking the shot? Should an unpressurized filter used in a non-naked portafilter be avoided?
Hi Tom, thanks for this great video! The problem I have is that I always taste water in my cappuccino (even though espresso doesn't taste bad). I noticed that my steam wand always constantly releases a little water while steaming (about 5-10 ml in 20 seconds). Before steaming milk, I always release the water first. Please tell me, is this normal or is my coffee machine defective?
Well, you do have to wait 1 minute between shots, for the pressure to dissipate. Oh, and perfect shots have a lot to do with puck prep...plus the machine will get slightly warmer over time after pulling multiple shots.
10:29 did you stop the machine yourself? Or does it stopped by itself? what is difference between first & second button of machine? And why did you pressed the second one if you wanted to stop it at the same time of the first button? (becuase I think second button is *2 times of first button and *2 volume)
Machine stop itself when it finish extracting your coffee. Regarding the buttons, first one is for one cup/dose, and the second one is for double dose or two cups.
I really enjoyed your video, but I have one question. I have bought a bottomless portafilter but I get a very uneven extraction and lots of random squirts of coffee to the point that it was better to use the 'stock' portafilter. I don't use a wdt and I don't grind my own coffee. Will using a wdt resolve my problem? Thank you
Very informative, learned a fair bit so thanks for that. My question is the following. Are there options out there that will let you brew in 200+ ml cups (like Nespresso Vertuo 230ml) using your own ground coffee? I'm currently using a Vertuo pop but reusing the capsules and filling it with my own fresh grounded coffee blend. When it works it tastes great but the machine is a hassle to work with this way and has lately been causing a lot of problems. I guess the result I'm looking for is like a big big lungo. I'm not after "Americano". I hope you or someone else can give me some pointers, thanks in advance :)

A late reply but in case someone else is wondering. I got the HUGH basket and it fits my 51mm accessories fine without hassle.
The video about retrofitting a rancilio milk wand was epic as well
I don't own any coffee machines, don't plan on buying a Delonghi, but enjoyed every single point you've made.
I'm sticking around your channel, subbed.
Thanks a lot!
Awesome, thank you for the feedback!
Cheers!
Hey, I have the same grinder it’s great! what grind size are you using?
@@blairhesson660 I went as low as 11 I think. But I’m using some different beans currently and up to 14. They say start at 15. I think it all depends on the beans you’re using

Hey Tom, I’m new to the coffee game, I’ve just bought one of these Dedicas on your recommendation. Now wanted to say thanks for this guide too! Keep it up.
Thanks for your generosity, and for your feedback! Tom
Thanks for your feedback, and have fun with the machine! Tom
How’d it go?
Its been 1 year now, still happy with it? And got better at making coffee? Pls RESPOND!
Having never had a coffee machine ever I’m buying this machine based on your reviews and demonstrations. It’s a great channel and I’ve watched all your content. Very very helpful for a beginner like me👍
Thanks much for the feedback! Have fun experimenting!
I bought a double baske by ims and a bottomless portafilter that you recommended for the dedica device. but when I put the coffee in and run the water, the syringe does not go as well as in your video, there is no cream and it looks watery and black. why is that and am i doing something wrong?
More likely your grind is too coarse and you need to grind finer.
Wow how far this machine go, I remember a few years back we didn't have such cool accessories. This is a great time for this hobby.
That's awesome, thanks for the feedback! Have fun experimenting! Tom
This machine just arrived today. So grateful for the content and the channel. Bingeing.
Glad you enjoy it! Have fun experimenting!
Simply the best content about the Dedica on RUclips.
Glad you like them! Look on the used market maybe - these can be quite cheap used. Cheers!

Und das Video finde ich direkt nachdem ich eine Dedica geschenkt bekommen habe? Zeit direkt aufzurüsten!
Lohnt sich. Allerdings würde ich nen vernünftigen grinder kaufen.
Hi Tom, Your videos are the greatest! I just bought a Dedica EC680M. Here you are mentioning the shower curtain
Thanks so much Tom I think you are very honest man.
I really appreciate it all your advice.
Excellent - hope you enjoy!
I bought nearly the same machine + accessory without watching your video. However I bought the ec885 and I am getting brilliant milk foam out of the box. Because of a useable tamper and milk can included, those 50$ more is a good investment.
The grinder which goes fine for me is a sage barista pro.
Thanks
Thanks so much for your support!
Thanks for your support, and glad you're enjoying it!
I just ordered Dedica and I am very grateful that you made this video! Very helpful! :)
Buying one of these today..and using this as my reference video..
Thank you Tom.😁👍🏼
Fantastic - have fun!
Thanks Tom. I'm having an issue lately with the dedica with side channeling. Mine is fully modded but it didn't happen before. No amount of wdt changes anything. Coffee still tastes good though but it's messy. I'm thinking about a puck screen.
Try the paper filter puck sandwich method
@@alinaqirizvi1441 Will do. It remains that I'm yet to find cheap 51 mm paper filters. It doesn't seem like it, but it adds up.
you can see that Tom is getting channeling as well
It really seems to have a lot to do with the beans, and grinder performance. When I use Dinzler Roma, I practically never get side channeling.
Using paper filters on the bottom can help to reduce channeling, but I find the espresso comes out a bit too watery at first...
Interesting bit about how to turn the flashing lights off! I have been using an alternative I found out for years now, it’s as simple as switching the machine off, waiting 5 seconds and turning it back on. But yours is cooler and I’ll take it any day !
Nice! Thanks for the feedback!
Got straight answer to every question I had about this. Thank you. Very informative.
thank you so much, I'm a newbie to using an espresso machine (just bought a bit different model of delonghi) so the video couldn't be more helpful.
Awesome, thanks for sharing, and have fun!
A good grinder is a game changer combined with open portafilter.
Which grinder did you get? For me it was a fellow opus
Hardly any crema - just a ring around the outside, some spraying, and for around 16g of coffee
/ 35g total liquid, in extracting in just 22 seconds.

Great video. I just ordered the IMS filter as the one I have been using that came with my open portafilter holder from amazon has bowed at the bottom as described in the video. The result of this is too much flow and I have to keep dialing my grinder to a finer setting which still gives me too much coffee.
Hi Tom, can I change the steamer arm as mine is full of plastic

My Dedica, which I bought last year in Athens, Greece, has a horrible steam wand--it is for clueless people and I haven't found a trick so that I can use it for microfoam which I usually easily make with other machines (I also have a gaggia but I modified that wand with a rancilio steam wand).

Hi Tom, your videos are the most informative ever! Love 'em! Question: On this Dedica EC680M, can the pressurized puck w/handle be switched off with the non-pressurized accessory you recommended EIFOCWCY with the wooden handle?
Hi there! I don't totally get the question. But yes, you can do a non-pressurized extraction with a bottomless PF and traditional basket. Good luck!
Your videos have been immensely helpful. I made some upgrade’s you recommend with great results. Question- should I be using a water filter cartridge with my machine (inserted in water reservoir) our water is hard. Or do I just descale monthly. I Britta filter my water.

Probably not, because that pre-ground is usually MONTHS old, and therefore has lost its freshness even before opening the bag.
Great video! Have you since tried out the larger 20-25g capacity IMS basket (H32)? I have an EC885, and was curious about trying out that basket with it.
No, I have only tried the medium sizes. Cheers!
Howdy! You can use the IMS, but you'll have to remove the plastic insert in the PF. Tamper should fit fine, in my experience. Cheers!
Just a pair technical question, -in a single basket do I have to finer grind settings to hold the 30 sec brew -time but the bitterness belongs of the fineness of the coffe. What is the best way with a single basket?
- do you recommend the paperfilter under the coffee in the basket?
Your videos are very helpfull,
Danke!
My one-cup method: 10g in, 20-25g yield. 25-35 seconds with pre-infusion. For one shot, you need to grind it finer.
Agreed, I have to grind a good amount finer for a single shot.
I start timing at the button press, because that is when the puck starts absorbing the water. As for single shots, they are hard to do. You have to grind a lot finer, and even then they will run faster than ab double, relatively speaking.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner It is very difficult, but not impossible :). Check it out: ruclips.net/user/shortsOuXBYIFxB3g
I only try to make a single shot.
Just a few questions on my side to be sure:
Yes, you can easily remove the plastic insert - just know that then the espresso will come out of 3 holes, instead of two. Cheers!
Well spotted indeed !
Is there no simple way to serve two cups with a non-pressurised filter ?
How fine are your grinding the beans for the bottomless? Only detail not mentioned in the video… otherwise, amazing content! Thank you!!
Well fine enough to get a 2:1 yield in about 25-30 seconds. So the adjustment depends on your grinder. Cheers!
Thank you for your informative videos. I own my delongi now about 2 month and just ordered a bottomless filter... I'm very curious to see and taste the difference...👍
Does the De’longhi filter work in this machine? How do you install it?
Sure thing! I see Neouza is making one now. I have used their products before, and they are good.

Sounds awesome! Have fun!
Thanks for the good advice!
nice as always. I learned how to use my dedica properly with your videos . can you provide a link to your non pressurized single shot basket please?
It's part of the Graef set, listed in the video description. Unfortunately, only available in Europe...
General rule is, lighter roasted coffee needs more heat. You don't always have to use the hack, but you can. It's nice to experiment.
Hi Tom. Does Nouza portafilter both double sprout and naked can be heated at the group head?
Hi Tom, thanks for this great video! The problem I have is that I always taste water in my cappuccino (even though espresso doesn't taste bad). I noticed that my steam wand always constantly releases a little water while steaming (about 5-10 ml in 20 seconds). Before steaming milk, I always release the water first. Please tell me, is this normal or is my coffee machine defective?
Thank you for the video. I want to ask how many espresso shots this machine can pull back-to-back perfectly without steaming?
@@maja_s2007 yeah I bought one. Thanks so
I really enjoyed your video, but I have one question.
