I had the pleasure of meeting Mr.Chapman in person in a park ,when I heard his distinctive voice, I walked over and shook his hand and told him how I have heard him for years because my Mom was a devoted listener...RIP❤

In 1980, before Ticketmaster, you used to have to buy concert tickets at the venue. Usually scalpers got there first and all that was left was “nosebleed” section tickets. My college roommate and I loved Barry Manilow who was going to have a concert at Reunion Arena. We got the bright idea to spend the weekend there on site to beat the scalpers when the tickets went on sale Monday-so on Thursday morning prior we got into first and second place in “line”. I called Ron Chapman and asked him if he would play some Manilow songs for us-he said sure, why? So I told him our plan to beat the scalpers. He was surprised and we had a great conversation, so much so that I became a ‘citizen reporter’ for the next few days, calling and giving him updates as the line grew to more than a mile long. That night he even showed up at Reunion Arena to meet us in person. He was so nice and funny and real. 🤗
I also remember when he announced one day that he needed all his listeners to send him $20-no reason was given-and within a few days he had raised-I’m old now, I think it totalled around $100,000! Everyone was stunned and he wound up donating it to charity-the original crowd funder. 😜 But people trusted him so much that we were willing to send the money, no questions asked. 😃
I have really missed his voice since he went off the air. Condolences and prayers to his family and friends, and thanks for the memories, Ron. You were the best. ❤️ ❤️❤️

My mother used to listen to him at work. He made KVIL pop, a true original.
