Our Cilla was well loved over here🇬🇧..in the 60's and 70's she had her own tv show and hit singles and 80's onwards more of a tv presenter..very down to earth scouser (from liverpool) who was much loved..maybe try Alfie..she had many hit records..

This was the second No 1 for Cilla after 'Anyone who had a Heart', the Bert Bacharach song, which Dione Warwick wasn't too happy about, as it overshadowed her own version . Another passionate song by Cilla-Colin Ward

Birth name Priscilla White. Cavern Club days, a newspaper writer badly remembered her name as Black. Due to the recognition and also thinking it sounded cooler, she kept it as her performance name.
After a bit of research, this performance here is from the 70's.

How you cannot love this song and performance is mind boggling. One of Britain's best loved and successful performers.

Cilla Black great singer .She had three top songs written by The Beatles under Lennon /McCartney mostly by Paul McCartney. Different period of time Angela but a Beautiful song..

Hi Angela, thank you for reacting to Cilla, sadly you are the first I`ve come across to do so. Everyone has their own tastes but please try some other songs, she was a truly down to earth success of the `60`/70`s era. A former coat/hat check girl at the Cavern Club, encouraged by the boys (The Beatles) to turn professional.
As mentioned by other commentators, Step Inside Love, Anyone Who Had A Heart or Alfie, the latter song was the theme to the `60`s film of that name, starring Michael Caine. Apparently, Bacharach wrote to her asking her to sing it, she wasn`t really interested & so asked for (what she thought were outrageous terms), however, they were granted so she had to do it. It was a hit single for her & I`m sure she was glad she agreed.

PS-This one does sound a bit dated now, after all it is nearly 60 years old. I prefer 'Step inside love' a bit later song written for her by Paul McCartney of the Beatles. By the way I can't find any reaction to a Beatles song by you?-Colin Ward

It's a pretty honest and simple song done in a stylish and dramatic fashion! I wish music were still as meaningful and passionate as it was in the past!
I disagree with you obviously, but variety is the spice of life I suppose!
You can't win them all! Until whenever!

Love Cilla,. never liked the arrangement. The Piano should have been using broken Chords to support her in 6/8 time eighth notes. Cilla should have sang her last note/word "me" on the 5th note of the scales for the big finish but she didn't, making the song anti-climactic. dispense with the strings starting the song at the beginning and in the middle, it;s where the arrangement is weak. The song should start out on piano like Unchained Melody. And the drummer need to top banging around during the song showing off, it's very distracting from the singer.

I thought I could tell by the change in your demeanor after the break in the video from the intro to the reaction that you weren't in the mood to perceive good old fashioned love song lyrics in light of the times...maybe I'm wrong.
