She took her nephew and my dad who were school friends to the cinema in the 1950’s before she was famous. She was visiting from Wales.
She recently sang this song at 85 yeRs old in 2022

When you think she first sang and recorded these songs in 1967 (Goldfinger) and Diamonds are Forever in 1971, she can today still sing both these songs virtually note for note with her powerhouse vocals aged 85!! Oh, and as for her stunning dresses she’s admitted to keeping every single outfit she’s ever worn on stage and keeps them in a secure warehouse storage facility. All colour coded and dated where and when she wore each of them. She’s an amazing woman, intelligent, funny and has a very cheeky sense of humour. I’ve adored listening her for music for most of my life.💞🇬🇧

I'm old. When I was a little kid television used to turn off at night, and it played a song to end the day. The station I watched played Diamonds Are Forever for me as a toddler.
I've seen her twice live at The Royal Albert Hall. The power of her voice and stage presence was phenomenal. What a star!

She did an autobigraphical song once called 'The girl from 'Tiger Bay'. Which was a poor area in the docks of Cardiff , Wales, UK. Where she was born and brought up. She is fabulous; now in her 80's.

I'm so proud that my Mum is a singer too and was named the North-East of England Shirley Bassey - her voice is as strong as Shirley's and when I hear SB singing it reminds me of being young and hearing my Mum practice.

I’m 62. I grew up listening to this superstar. I love Dame Shirley Bassey. Her voice is a gift from God. She could have been an opera star as well. But I am so happy she gave her gift to us in these wonderful Bond themes. I’m glad this young lady appreciates this great voice. Thank you for your review of the Great Dane Shirley Bassey. PS Trivia. When Shirley Bassey original went into the studio back in the 1960s to record the Goldfinger theme, the producer kept having her do retakes in order to get that last high note perfect. When she finally did it exactly as the producer wanted it on the final take, she had to be helped back out to her car because that big final note took a toll on her. That last note of that song is really something out of this world. ❤️

Along with having a powerful voice, you can tell she enjoys entertaining the audience. I saw that commonality with Whitney Houston. The way their eyes sparkle, and their mannerisms. They perform like they have a delicious secret they are sharing with the audience. I have always felt that way about Whitney, but seeing these performances from Dame Shirley Bassie makes me feel that way too

Both are theme songs from James Bond films. If you would like to hear other Bond themes, I would recommend "Skyfall" by Adele, "The Spy Who Loved Me" by Carly Simon, "Live and Let Die" by Paul McCartney, "For Your Eyes Only" by Sheena Easton.
