  • Austin Collins, aka Au5, found it in his heart to do another episode of In The DAW with us, and break down his song Always In A Nightmare, the sequel to his 2018 collaboration with Nytrix, Only In A Dream.
    We talk about Using Zynaptiq Morph as a vocoder, the importance of "flow state" in the production process, resampling your own songs, and of course making emotional bass music.
    Also, DAW Nation and Au5 just finished our highly anticipated course, The Serum Masterclass! Every knob, button, and setting inside Xfer's Serum is explained in great detail, with a bunch of advanced techniques as well as several bonuses included. Link to the course is down below!

    I hope we get another video with AU5. He does an excellent job explaining at explaining "why" he chose to do something, opposed to "how" he did something. It's very informative, even for producers such as myself who have been making music for 10 years. I think it's important for people to understand "why" instead of "how".

    • @DAWNation
      @DAWNation  3 года назад

      We too love the way he explains the "why" behind his process.. that's why we've had Austin on the show so many times and made the School of Bass with him! Hope you've been able to learn a lot so far. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw more of Au5 x In The Daw in the future :)

      You can do it in 24-bit as well, but to a lesser extent (gain value) than 32-bit audio

    • @au5music
      @au5music 4 года назад +5

      Unfortunately 24 bit audio is not floating point, this means it has the same unity (0db) level as 16 bit but with higher resolution. 32 bit float however does not clip at 0db. It is scaled in a way where 0db still sounds like 0db and has the resolution of 24 bit but there is extended range far above 0db.

    Ight. So I have a drop that requires a similar kind of bass that this drop has… I have learned why it almost killed you. It’s less about the sound design and more about the getting it full, distorted, clear, wide and loud at the same time. I’m on try 3 so far. Also, I’m not just doing the same thing cuz, the drop requires a similar sound but, more organic. So, instead of a blaster, I need something more animalistic….yet, the actual growl layer can’t really be super fuzzy cuz that just messes up the vast array of noises nd shit going on in the top end. Oh yeah. And it also has to be transient. And progressive. Cuz I’ve tried looping a one shot I made and it sounds repetitive. And I’ve tried just making a conventional neuro sorta choppy drop. And, I dunno if it’s in my head but, it neeeds to be absolutely face meltingly hard. Cuz the song is progressive and starts off with like an ambient (cute) sorta colour bass drop. Than like a more conventional colour bass drop. Than goes into like a seven lions x au5 drop. Thaaan the first half of the drop I’m now on is like the chord stack keytar solo drop. But, the first half ends with a riser. And than there’s like a vaccine bass which sounds like everything is getting sucked into a blackhole. Than just…it needs to sound like the Big Bang. Just, all the energy of the entire song sucked into a singularity and fucking blasted out into the listeners face holes…..so now I watching this to try nd get some of the principals back cuz I forgot how sound works.

      Thanks for reaching out and I apologize for the delay. There's 2 options. First option is a monthly subscription with no commitment, so you can cancel whenever you'd like. The other option is paying a bit more one time for lifetime access to the course. Hope that helps. You can see the breakdown in cost here! www.bass.dawnation.net/productinfo
