I honestly can't think of anyone more knowledgeable than Au5. Or at least it appears that way because he is REALLY articulate and explains complicated concepts quite simply.
SeamlessR is equally talented and knowledgeable. Highly recommend his channel, though he's a little less well-spoken.
This is brilliant stuff! I'm thankful to everyone involved for granting us free access to this powerful production knowledge.
Excellent installment Pli! Also the editing style is stellar, keep up the good work!
Au5 has been an inspiration of mine since the beginning! He is the truth, the life, the way for music producers. Can't thank you enough for this awesome vid! :)
This is one of the most inspiration, and technique-packed videos I've ever seen. I have to test all the ideas presented here.
Thank you all!
SO MUCH KNOWLEDGE
Just wanted to stop by and say I appreciate the time and effort put into editing this video. Lots of little cuts to make Au5's information flow better and more coherent overall. Respect
one of the best production vids i've ever watched
Thank you so much for posting this Au5 is my fav producer ❤️
Thanks a bunch to all of you for putting this together.. Clever production indeed
The funny thing is I make pop punk/ melodic dubstep now instead of the more bro step stuff I used to make, but coming at softer genres from the perspectives of producers like AU5 just gives you so much inspiration, this was mega dope!
This helped me soooooo much! Especially the workflow section. Thank you so much guys!
love hearing au5 drop knowledge and basssss
Yess love this series!!!
Extremely informative.
Love how to the point he is with this.
Wyatt Christensen I appreciate you all putting this together for the community!
I just discovered Au5 about a week ago, im simply amazed and inspired.
AU5 ! I'm so happy ! In the daw series are very instructive !
Unbelievable knowledge gained from this. Au5 is the man.
Thanks guys, that was amazing!
I don't usually take notes but when I do you know it is something truly worthy enough to be written down
AUSTIN THANK YOU FOR YOUR WISE KNOWLEDGE
Pure gold. Thank you for this!
Yah mon! Sick! Been tryin to watch this since yesterday
Your videos are amazing brotha keep it up
I have gained so much knowledge from AU5, unbelievable
1 hr spent well. So much information
This was like fate I came across this video, just last night i was farting around on serum trying to import a wave table and I was too lazy to look up how to do it. This morning I stumble across this, and the guy that is teaching is doing so in a really easy to learn way, awesome video thank you
Au5 you are a beast bruh!! Great hangout!
this is EPIC ! ! !
one of the best alive
unbelievably interesting and useful.
Couldn't agree more!
Bow down to the almighty god of sound design 🙇
Wyatt Christensen Thanks for the reply! I'll check it out, keep up the good work guys!
27:30 was so helpful for me. TY Au5.
I'm only 16 minutes in and I've already learned more about making growls than I have in the past 2 years
ok. This is awesome, we got Au5, now we want Fractal!!
Thank you for this one lads :P
this guy's a genius
Wow Au5! I love that man ♡
Gud ^.^
These "In the DAW" videos are freaking sick! The fact you cut up the "uhhhh" and other useless parts make them my top favorite "tutorials" on RUclips!
I dont make dubstep but there is soooo much in this tutorial that is going to help my production!
mind blown by the sound design god Au5
This is awesome :o
OMG Thank You so much for putting this together Wyatt, so damn interesting and Au5 (to me) is a genius because Dubstep has never been my strong point lol. Oh I almost forgot, I have a challenge for you Wyatt! I would love to see K?d and Varien TOGETHER on one episode for their collab "Catherine" orrrrrr you could make me have a heart attack(in a good way) if I saw k?d's remix of "We are your friends" by Justice on here. Thanks :)
BaeU5
Man this is insane
IN the daw
Drum processing tips helped a bit, thanks :P
DUDE. That idea of breaking it into lo-mid-hi then vocoding only the mids is fucking genius. I'm mad I never thought of that.
+Michael Bush oh the possibilities of mult-band processing! We actuallly just released a full sound design course with Au5 where he shows how to do a bunch of crazy Multi-band processing. You can check it out here: inthedaw.thinkific.com/pages/au5abletonsounddesign
22:15 Multi comes in finally :D
bruhhh how dont you have + 500k subs lol. this is gold
"Electronic Music Producers have no talent or skill, all they do is press buttons"
I'm quoting all the IGNORANT people that say that
Yes, that's all they do. All a pianist does is press keys, we type everyday anybody can do it.
I literally know a ton of people who say that kind of thing. Actually we took a poll in my science class, and i was the only one who thought electronic music can be scientifically classified as real music.
There's no such thing as "real music" ALL music is music PERIOD, whether it was made by a 5 year old, or a 95 year old, whether it was made with a cup with a string on it, a block of wood with strings on it, a Guitar, a computer, or Mayonnaise. Music is anything that's intended to be music, it doesn't matter how its made, what it's made with, or what it sounds like. Just like art is anything that's intended to be art. Saying "Electronic Music isn't real music, or music at all, because it doesn't have any words and it's just a bunch of noises" is like saying "The Mona Lisa painting isn't real art, or art at all, because it's just a bunch of paint smeared on a canvas". I mean, that's technically what the Mona Lisa painting is, but its art because its INTENDED to be art. So music, EVEN if it sounds like "just a bunch of noises" it IS music, because it is intended to be music.
Ultimate101Gaming, I totally agree, love you bro
Boom. Knowledge.
This was AWESOME! But, next time, we need Haywyre on the show! He uses Ableton too.
Cool stuff! Appreciate the reply, my man!
2:05. That lfo shape gave me an epiphany…like. Right off the bat.
Au5 is def a craftsman
I'd love to see Virtual Riot on the show !
You guys should do an episode with CharlesTheFirst. His sound design and production is next level. Would love to see how he does it.
I think he's another complex producer, one was Vitual Riot, and wow Au5, they know so much, they should collab
Take a look at one of his production livestreams and you'll think otherwise. On par with Au5's knowledge level.
Ha...Hahaha....HAHAHAHAH! "basic as amateur producers get"
Get the fuck out, dude. VR is amazingly gifted and talented at what he does. Not only does he posses great production skill but he's damn musical, too.
I’ve never heard the term “bro-step” but it’s so accurate 😂
Welcome to in the DAW where Multiplier’s webcam is on for no reason! Nah just kidding. Thank you guys for this!
Wait, you're supposed to make dinner BEFORE the date? Damn, that gets me every time. Anyways, super informative video. So glad you were able to trap Au5 and pry all of his infinite knowledge from him! Absolutely amazing and super useful video. Personally, that workflow tip is working wonders on my production speed. Awesome job, this could help so many aspiring producers out there. Great job guys!

Well done.....Au5
Au5 is a bloody genius
Wyatt Christensen not much homie ! How are you going !?:D yeee man I saw the video title and I had to give this a watch
34:28 I like that long hold
"Dude your shit punches so hard. Whhhyyyy does your shit punch so hard" haha
Woah.
Does anybody have some resources about the PRVD composition system? I couldn't find anything on the Internet.
Good lord it is insane how he just knows EXACTLY what he's doing and why and everything. Man is a wealth of information fuuuck
+Conner Kubitz so true dude. This guy is a literal bass wizard. Just so you know, we actually just launched a full sound design course with him ;)! You can check it out here: inthedaw.thinkific.com/pages/au5abletonsounddesign
Try modulating each parameter with a different LFO or with DAW automation as well.
Love this content. I would love to know how you do this recording. May I ask you what setup and configuration you are using to record these? Is all parties using obs and skype?
Didn't expect you to be here BassGorilla :D This is some sick stuff.
Zoom video conferencing.
Could you share a video or comment back explaining how arise has this sidechaining setup as mentioned in the end of the video?
I just changed the Device from asio to SPDIF-out (soft blaster z) TNice tutorials improved the soft quality dramatically. I tNice tutorialnk tNice tutorials did the trick!
i give up on production, seeing this guys project file made me slam my face on the keyboard and say FUCK THIS
Nick Russell dude has been dabbling with production software since he was 13 quit crying
psymbionic next please
When i try to import the audio i made from operator into serum i just get a file error, any suggestions?
ye
2:13 How can you quickly disable all of Serum FX like that, is there a shortcut?
How the f do you gain this much knowledge
Daily workout in the DAW, reading, exerimenting, watching tutorials, and thinking about it all the time :)
There is a lot to catch in this one.
oh my fuck yes finally Au5 *-*
So is he not using a separate track for a sub? I've always wondered with the complexity of his serum patches. I saw that on some of the serum windows he has the sub bass routed direct out in serum. This makes it the easiest to follow things like envelope and automation curves if he's even doing any of that because I didn't see any automation on the subs. But even if he his going direct out with his sub at a serum level, It would surely be affected by all the post plugins on each chain unless he his splitting the frequency somewhere for each bass. If he is doing that, how does he keep the sub so consistent while having so many different bass patches? He did mention it's a good idea to high pass all the mid to high basses and have a separate sub but I don't see that here.
need other one with alon mor :D
30:10 ayy Fractal XD
Do you only do bass music producers? If you're open to all producers you should check out Julian Earle. He has a RUclips channel with tons of tutorials and it would definitely be interesting to hear what he had to say in an interview like this.
dopppeee
Wdf is that tune at the start!! Faking banging!!
Please help.. my audio is in 44.1Hz like Au5 noted but it still won't load in to Serum. Getting "file error" in the wavetable name... what am I missing?
It must be in Wave file format
Maybe in the DAW with Malux?
Or with Rusty K?
au5 is god
What was that vocal vst/plug-in? Vocal lease? Head velocity? Still can't find it.
Wyatt Christensen thanks!
rad so far. fyi, it's called ducking when you "flip" the Ableton gate effect (35 min mark)
I am literally using only serum and get better everytime. Guys stick to a synthesizer you like to choose and get good with it. KNOW it and you can create anything you want
55:23 IW bass = infinite wings?
Now I don't feel as bad using free Cymanics drumsamples knowing that Au5 does too :)
I hope someone loves me as much as Au5 loves comb filters.
My brain cant handle the KNOWLEDGE
6:30 why are there only 32 samples? There are at least 10000 samples in that wav file you recorded
