The final implosion of the old Bay Bridge

Caltrans has finished its demolition of the old Bay Bridge East Span-a year ahead of schedule and at a savings of $10 million-with the implosion of the final two piers. Mark Jones was up with the bridge crews at 4 a.m.; traffic on the new bridge was halted at 7:15 a.m. as the final blast neared ignition.
