I had to loosen the cab bolts to get mine in. I had the gm muscle car pan and a 4l80e, no frame Notch and there's no way I could get it out with the trans attached now lol.
I have an 03 single cab with a 4.3 and an NV3500 5speed. I wanna do the swap, but it's so tight I had to pull the cab to change the clutch. I think this trans will hold a mildly built 5.3 for a while at least.
I don't remember if you put the S10 oil pan on the truck engine but I think if you get the oil pan on for the V8 S10 engine you will be up town for sure.
What year is that truck? Mine is a 2000 s10 came with the 4cyl.. every thing looks the same... but the 45240 headers on summit only goes to a 93.. 45900 is supposed to be for the 2nd gen I guess.. but I'll be glad to save $300 if the 45240 fit
my truck was a 1998 , the headers fit better on that truck than they do on my 1982. Dirty Dingo mounts , massaged upper control arm on passenger side and was able to clear everything including the round coil on the driver side.
is that big dished area on passenger from side of engine a missing AC pump, removed specifically to make this swap fit? im looking at putting this 5.3 i got into an 86 cutlass to roughly double the hp. trying to decide between a slightly rusty beatup 86 cutlass for 2500 that runs very poorly[may just be plug wires but also 5 yr old gas, who knows] OR choose a much nicer cutlass thats 8 hrs away and 4000CDn but it has very little rust. it was either already scrubbed off and treated with corroseal or was never rusty. and it runs well enough to drive home the 8 hrs. MAYBE i will ask for discount on poor running one even though he was firm on price. then it will be more justifiable to buy more work on all that rust if its less than 1/2 the price and needs a motor anyways.
Thank you for your so informative video. It's awesome and so helpful, but could I ask you for the full name of the headers, and what is the part number? Thank you, my friend!!
I used Hedman 45240 , they fit the 1994 and newer fine but I test fit on my 1982 and they hit the body seem on the passenger side so you will need to do some minor massaging possibly.
What was the parts number on those headers that you use you said they were headmen do you can you send me the part number cuz I'm I'm doing a swap on my S10 where my Sonoma it's a 2001 with the I'm putting the 53 in there I need the number for those headers cuz those fit pretty good
Just in case don't know hooker black Hart I'd the header you won't it fits like a glove because there made for the S10 pick ups I this on another Chanel don't remember witch 1 but everything clears well with out any mods and you can get to all your spark plugs. Also I never seen the end for this build. I pulled up all the videos you've done this is the closest I've seen done are you done with or did you the project off.
Hi and thanks for watching , the truck was actually completed minus a Holley system (term x) for the powertrain controls but when I tried to order the one I wanted was not available and then someone offered to buy the truck as a roller after it was sitting around so I sold it. Still have the engine and swap stuff and will likely go in the blue s-10 one day.
@Jay's Garage so I got these on my truck. The steering shaft I have is rubbing on the upper part of that loop. It looks identical to your steering shaft. My guess is maybe you have different mounts and your engine sets up higher? What holley steering shaft pn?
Thank you for your advice... my blackheart headers mounts and steering shaft came in today... motor went in a hour later... thank you again

I am going to be pulling mine out right away or this weekend , I dont think it will come out either.
I've got the muscle car pan with a th400, I had to hammer the cab to get it in, it went tho

i would of notched the crossmemeber for ease of removal. But everyone is diff.. Nice video bud...
Thanks and thanks for watching.
i just bought used 5.3 LS for 200 cdn and the guys lift looked exactly like yours. i may still buy that too for another 200 cdn
supposed to give him another 80 when he finds the exhaust manifolds, starter, and ecu, then it will just be missing plug wires and alternator.
@@kravmaga7070 Sounds like a decent deal if its a running engine!
Thank you for your help.. just one more question.... for now lol... what did you do for the steering shaft? Any part # you can share?

Did the passenger side exhaust hit a-arm when you let truck down off of Jack's?
I had to clearance the A arm on the passenger side.
I would have opted for a new beakline may as well now b4 the install .

Yes that area on the passenger side is for the A/C compressor.
Tough choice on the two vehicles , good luck on your decision!
Looks great, what headers are those?
Thanks , they are 45240 Hedman Headers
What brand headers are those? If you don’t mind me asking? They look like plenty of clearance.
Hedman 45240 , they were fine except at the A/C box , if you dont have A/C the fit well.
Have you made it to the driverside rear coil yet? My booster is totally in the way... I wonder if I can take a BFH to massage a dent in the booster
I had just enough room to clear , Dirty Dingo Mounts
Install 2nd bolt halfway on coil bracket, get slight angle and redrill a couple of bracket holes. With round coils it works on mine
Thank you for your so informative video. It's awesome and so helpful, but could I ask you for the full name of the headers, and what is the part number? Thank you, my friend!!

Why couldn’t the trans be installed after the motor?
It could have been , I wanted to try it complete.
What kinda of headers are you using and part number
45240 Hedman Huslers
On your 82 did they hit the boby as in the firewall area or end up hitting the frame?
On the Blue 82 it was the firewall lip/seam. It has been flattened all the way around.
I got 1996 S10 what kind of motor can I put in that model
Both the SBC and LS based engines will work , several companies offer conversion pieces or kits , its really up to you and what you want.
What Oil pan you using
GM Muscle car oil pan 19212593
What's the part number on the header
Hedman 45240
What kind off headers are those can you put the part number
Hey Jose , these are Hedman Headers 45240
What headers did you go with? I’m building 92’ s-10 and can’t find the right set of headers.

Trans Dapt 4690 with the long tube headers - 2:05 into the install video shows them Chevy S-10 350 Install Long Tube Headers!!
Shoot.... Sorry wrong S-10 , the red Sonoma I used Dirty Dingo
DD-LS-S2
Hi, what motor mounts are you using? I used the transdap but after installing them my motor is way too low in the frame.
Hi Simon , I used the Dirty Dingo Mounts2WD S10 S15 LS 1982-2004 Adjustable Conversion Mounts With Clam Shell Mounts LS1
What mounts are those
Do you still have part number
In the videos somewhere. The clamshells are 1st gen 2.8 GM Replacements and the actual Mounts and clam shells were Dirty Dingo DD-LS-S2-PC
Thanks
Where did you get your drive shaft?
It was the original off the truck
