Love and miss the stories! Growing up in Canarsie Brooklyn was the same, if you conducted yourself in the right manner there was no problems. We had a crew that always looked out for one another and that was the bottom line! Great to see you again brother, keep it up my man.......
Anthony: Read “Street Corner Society: The Social Structure of an Italian Slum” by William Foote Whyte, 1943. It’s about the North End of Boston, it’s gangs, involvement in politics, clubs etc. It is a classic and right up your alley.
Ty sooo much these shows are complex and not easy to do lots of work goes into them and lots of emotion! camera work camera man all excellent ! I appreciate your commentary and that you like our show! You and everyone out there is why we do this! ❤️🙏🏼💪🏼
Just found your channel. As someone that graduated from CCHS, a grandfather from the west end and grandmother from the North End, I kind of miss the old times. We knew the score, I loved the bakeries, loved the connection, so thank you for the memories, while they may not all have been good, they are where we came from.
Anthony I gotta tell ya your stories remind so much of my Nana’s takes of growing up in the North End where she eventually met grandfather though her stories are from circa late 30’s-40’s
Wow. Great stuff here, Anthony. Nice to meet you at the bar in the North End a couple of days ago, talking with you was a pleasure. Best of luck with this wonderful series - keep on shinin' on.
Love this episode as well as all your others. My nonna came from Sicily and settled at Tileston St. My mom was born raised and grew up there. My nonno’s family owned Orlando’s Bakery on Charter St. I loved hearing all the stories of the old North End from my mom. The outhouse, the ice guy,the guy selling crabs on the street etc.. Thank you for bringing back so many great memories ..
Anthony this was a phenomenal video, as an Eastie guy born & raised its good to hear some of you guys crazy stories…some bad blood in the past but at the end of the day we all come from the same place 💪🏼🙏🏼
We were all kids back then , stupid and full of testosterone!! Some of thess same men now are great friends of mine. I have many relatives in Eastie on my father “Gungadin’s” sode . Love Eastie love all the parts of Boston theae day I appreciate simple things now like good people like yourself! Ty for watching as they say please like and subscribe!❤️🙏🏼
@@northendstories4352 couldn’t of said it better myself, a lot of our friends and families have close ties to both neighborhoods…..your a class act Anthony, keep up these videos I’m already subscribed 👌🏼👍🏼
Fascinating!!! The Italians followed my folks into the North End as the Irish were moving on after the great flu epidemic of 1918. There were terrible prejudices in my grandmother's time but my parent's generation embraced their Italian neighbors in East Boston and Winthrop. They really fused as fellow citizens in Winthrop by WW2. My mother's folks were North End Irish who moved successively with Irish fortune from the North End to the West End to East Boston and became neighbors with the Kennedys at Point Jeffries. Old Joe courted my great Aunt Mamie Kane . My Grandmother answered the door when he came around. 'No, Sir, she's not about.' We asked her why she rejected him, she would say, 'He had bird shit on his face. We never knew if she meant acne or freckles. Never mind. My great Grand father Padraic Kane forbad the marriage as he knew their game and talent for smelling money. Paddy had properties all around the North and South Shores all by the water. Paddy was a tea totaler who in his job as a boiler inspector for Cunard and White Star lost his toes in an ship-board accident and when told he was to be anesthetized he cussed them out and shouted, 'Cut away, damn you!!!'... 'But Mamie! We could have all been rich!!!' When I visit kin I take advantage of the old Boston Mariner House on North Square. I can get a lovely room dirt cheap for my service in the USMM. More often than not my window opens on Paul Revere's backyard. I sleep with the window open to take in the hallucinating aromas of the incredible restaurants surrounding me.
btw- my maternal grandfather Joe Judd was an armature winder in the old armature works where the ramps to the new bridge is. He was among the very first to respond to the Great Molasses flood of 1919 which is where I think you started the vid at Columbus Pahhhhk. His story and those of our folks in the West End who responded haunted us children at after Sunday dinner stories when it was time to go to bed. 'And the poor horses!!! St Francis help them!!! Screeming their hearts out scaulded to death!!! The poor things!!!'
Great video Anthony. I remember the altercation that you had with Gizzy on Cooper Street like it was yesterday. I think the Gizz was even older that you said. He was about 21-22 at the time. His underage girlfriend Renee was in Jackie's house and she was ignoring him, so he took it out on you. Do you remember hurting your hand from punching the roof of a car that was parked after the incident?
Quality is getting better and better. I liked the episode where you took the show on the road did the tour around the perimeter of the n.e very cinematic with the panning shots :) haven't been back there in years I miss it. Richie still have the barbershop?
I’m from 440 Hanover Street & my brother Arthur Raineri was murdered on Charter St on the roof during the feast of Saint Anthony’s at 19 years old. Nothing ever did about it . Charter st playground was our hangout.
I kow lannie from the old Charles st jail Boston in 1972 and from the n end pavato sq . He my cousin graffio Paul one ear . Was a friend of lanni . Yeah bad move e. B guys going into n. end. Crazy.
Great show. I've lived in EB now for 69.yrs . They called we e.b. the guys from the other side of the water E.B. HARBOR. growing up on border St and new st. The view was Townies and N. end .I swam to NE.water front twice . 2nd time picked up by harbor police. Lol yeah I was a real adventure as a teenager. It's there's anybody out there

Anthony when you make the video "ok for children" it shuts down your comments by default so your two new videos comments off (just in case you werent aware) and yeah its pretty dumb that youtube does that.
Paul Lani was a sick scary pos. Paul had a Doberman that was pretty scary too. That was Christopher's dog that Lani killed. I know when Lani died, some people breathed esier. What happened to Christopher was so sad though.
