  • La Dispute had always been a band the Cool Guys ™ knew they would love but, for whatever reason, hadn’t listened to yet. So, they jumped into 2008’s “Somewhere at the bottom of the river between Vega and Altair” essentially blind. As when Jesus healed Celidonius at Siloam, the boys were miraculously healed of their La Dispute blindness when they listened to this masterpiece again and again. Things get silly, scary and cute as they discuss the merits of this post-hardcore staple.

I’ve listened to this album front to back so many times I’ve lost count. It’s literally the most gentle and most brutal album out there. I’ve heard heavier, sure……. But I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anything that is able to go between both so often and so masterfully. There’s no wasted notes, there’s no wasted words. It’s just masterpiece after masterpiece. Incredible concept after incredible concept. His lyrics are so good because he is able to use dialogue as a way to tell the story. the overdramatic writing and delivery style just suits the music so well. 10/10 IMO.

I've been listening to La Dispute exclusively for like 2 years, and before that it was early Alexisonfire.

Great video haha. La Dispute is better than 75% of the literature that I read as an English minor in college.

Yea mewithoutYou is my favorite band of all time and when I first heard this album I was like how dare they rip mwY off but after listening to it for a while it's really ripping them off as much as it has that same sort of lyrical energy. Both Aaron from mwY and the singer for LD have an amazing way with words and telling stories. Their choice in vocabulary is why they are some of my favorite lyricists of all time especially Aaron Weiss.

Try their collab album, particularly the song Why It Scares Me.
