The beauty of this game is how they give you the basics like shuvs, boardslides, ollies, etc. and let you figure out how to do the more advanced tricks using what they give you. Best representation of skating to date imo
Grover and Le Chimpe if you check out TrueSkate on mobile, it’s the same physics type engine that you use 2 fingers (like a fingerboard) and hit or flick or swipe the part of the board you want to hit and whatever direction you swipe it, that’s like a foot drag and learning things like dolphin flips, etc, is cool because you figure out how to do it in real life, it’s more similar even than SkaterXL, but I agree this is way better than old school THPS style!

I skated for a few years in elementary and middle school, wasn’t too serious so I only knew ollies shuvs kick flips sort of heel flips and that’s pretty much it. Picked up skater xl and the hardest thing was just getting used to the controls. Then from playing skate 3 I knew the obvious tricks like kick flips etc, so then I would just mess around with the joysticks and it all started making sense. “Varial flip? It looks like a kick flip, that’s just flicking the stick to the left, but also the board spins 180. So that means I have to combine a kick flip with a shuvit?” Thats how I was able to learn tricks on here. Like you said, once you have the basics, just combine them to find new tricks
Damn, I still have troubles with varial (heel)flips. It doesn't make sense, even the slightest flick makes the board spin out of control. Particularly annoying when I try to do them in grind combos. Shove-its are no problem however. A lil' help?
Same. Even the slightest Shuv while doing a kick flip to do a Varial flip, it automatically goes to Tre flip. Always for me. I thought Varials were regular (180) Shuvs, with kickflip. And Tre’s were 360 Shuvs with kick flip? I try Varials 100 times in a row as well as shuv it’s, so I know im not over rotating the shuvit to a 360 shuv it. But I will say, the times I do actually get the trick is when I flick the kickflip fast while rotating for the shuv it slow. Still so inconsistent though. Man I suck at this game lol
Wish the developers would communicate on steam. There hasn't been an update for over a month now and I couldn't even play the game because it would crash on start up so I had to refund. Shame. Modders are the only thing that is keeping this game alive at the moment.

But I will say that slowly rotating the Shuv was the only thing that helps the most, but even then it’s so inconsistent. I can do hard flips and inward heels one HUNDRED times more consistent. Is 8gb RAM good enough? My new laptop specs: - 7th generation AMD A6-9225 Professor with Radeon R4 Graphics - 4gb, RAM 2400MHz, DDR4(upgrading to 8gb) - 1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive I'm new to pc/laptop gaming
Probably 15-30fps depending on map on low settings 720p. 8gb ram is enough but that cpu and gpu are pretty weak. If that is playable to you then it is fine but I suggest to buy desktop pc if you have money and you are going to play more games on pc.
I actually see E-Sport potential with this game because you can be so creative, and add your style with practice. They just need to add a Hardcore Mode for this ;)
I feel like I do better doubleflips if I don't do the flick the same time I do the pop-up, but a little late from it. Also how about in skate 2 or 3 cause I sometimes want to play those... Can you really choose where to land from a grind? I feel like I have to grind to the end of the obstacle or just spin something crazy out so that it kinds works... But then it also sometimes gets into another grind And thank you! I've been really enjoying your content lately! Keep it up!
I think you're meant to flip later rather than sooner or the flip will rocket. I have been trying to get more aesthetic tricks tonight as I was rocketing a lot, and found that if you flip later when the board is more level it looks a lot nicer. it's weird though as I can do nicer hardflips and inward heels than I can regular kickflips and heel flips in this game. I know I just need to practice, but because the kick and heelflip are so basic it's a lot easier to spot imperfections.
The video helped me understand how to do these tricks in general; not just in the game. Never really understood how some of these tricks were done until I watched this. Great content as always!

Only thing I want changed is the hardflips and frontside flips. If the hardflips went thru the legs a little and the frontside flips were a little more fluid and at the same time instead of kickflip turn 180. that would be awesome.

i cant grind to grind i dont know whats going on i tap the triggers and it doesnt work i can press the thumbsticks but then he just pops out am i doing something wrong? could it be a setting in my steam or something

Great tips but it would be easier to consistently show what to do and be easier to see if you just enabled the slomo mod thats how i teach people at first then you just have to do things faster at the normal speed.

It wasnt till now that I noticed, nightspeeds tut on "how to exit grinds" actually would help me to get a lot further with that trick. just pressing both triggers, instead of (n)one helped a lot! now I gotta play with rail/ledge angles (steepness), grind pop force and rotation, to get a nice and clean one :)
I did a kickflip underflip, but I don't know how I did it and have not been able to replicate. (I think that's what it's called) I did half a kickflip then spun it back round, like a 180 one way, then the other way)

Try to flick the shove with the back foot slow while flicking the heel with the front foot quick
