- He appeared out of nowhere in front o fthe Bastille Opera in Paris and began to play..sorry I didn´t catch it all ; but i´m glad i was there..
ERRATUM . I will keep the update below as a part of history until this ne update is confirmed. The guitarist´s name is one Tim Sorensen.. alive and well but a bit grumpy over this longstanding misunderstanding and being confused with a dead person (I am sure that the dead person (Tim Poslewwaithe) would have been happy not to be dead at all, but such is life))
Outdated update.kept for historice reason and possibly only temporarily.
[Update Throuhg the comments here I later learned his name and I know many of you are wondering: It was Tim Postlewaite and I was sad to learn he´s deceases. About a year after skotting this video I passed him again at the same place, he had a few fellas with him and it lokked like a band, it seemed things were going well for him, I always meant to show him a printout of this youtube page and the views this video has had but sadly never did , so he probably died without knowing and taking this piece of music to his grave . Justa anoter reminder to seize the day.. dont wait for tomorrow! ]
Ive been watching this for 15 years. Every now and then I go back to my first RUclips videos liked. Hope this man is safe and well and he's doing well. Loves my man
Still the greatest guitar street performance video I've seen on RUclips after all these years.
I've been watching this video for like 10 years now, it seems. Never remember the title but always find it somehow through search. My opinion remains unchanged, this man may be one of the greatest guitarists I've ever heard...
Bro same, I come back to it a couple times a year. Phenomenal. I was in Paris a yr after this (didn't know about this video at the time). One of the most passionate and skilled guitarists and a true inspiration! I'm sure you've seen the few other videos of him too
Same
Same fuckin here
Me too!
Same
Blues in this modern age is just a small part of the music industry, if this guy is homless, or has deep troubles, drugs, drink ,mental heath problems, deep regrets due to past times, he still has somthing that no amount of money can buy , pure raw talent ,even if hes a busker , this comes at a cost ,this guy is up there with best , considering he,s just fuckin about in on street , imagine what he could do on a stage with support , that i would like to see
I've often wondered what happened to him. Biker so I've been everywhere at all hours. Have never seen him. I hope hes alright. The streets started getting weird past decade.
You can take away a man's home-- but you can never take away his talents or dignity. Amazing!
Dude....this guy is the Yoda of Rock n Roll.....isolated for whatever reason, but more music wisdom than you would think.
The tapping part starting at 1:25 is just.. The notes' choice is brilliant.
When I saw this video in 2007 made me want to travel to search for this guy and watch and learn what he's doing , even bought a guitar that looked like his guitar at the time . Such a shame that people take musicians like this for granted and choosing to follow your passion in art or music might mean ending up playing on the street or starving even . Though I bet if you asked Tim if it was worth it in the end he'd tell you that all he needs is a few meters on the street or in the subway to play his guitar , and my view is that all sacrifices come cheap for the sake of following your passion .
How do these people just walk by like its nothing?? If someone was playing like that on the street and I walked by, I wouldve been mindblown...
just found this video after years of not hearing it. Thank you for keeping it up. Hes the reason I started.
Quality doesn't pay in this world anymore....all those people just walk on by without even turning their heads much less giving this amazing player a couple of coins!
I remember seeing this video around ten years ago and till today I'm drawn back to watching this dude play again. Can't say I've seen anything like His style and technique before. Holy cow.
I´m just glad I was passing through at the time and had the presence of mind to record..unfortunately my camera didn´t have enough memory left for any more than this.
I also wish I ad taken a stroll down there again and shown him the video and how popular it was becoming..Then he just disappeared
@@PETURK
What country and city was this guy playing at the time of recording, he is fkn amazing 👍👍
It was in Paris by the Bastille Opera house (entrance to the underground).

Paris street guitarist in Bastille
You can feel the emotion he is pouring out of that guitar, truly amazing gives me shivers...I would love to come across someone playing like this on the streets and listen for as long as they play...
Shhhh,..Be Quiet and you will hear God playing Guitar...Shhhh
I've watched this same video for over 10 years. I can't believe this only has just shy of 3k likes.... deserves why more.
Sadly you cannot take your guitar with you when you die so you better play the fuck out of it why you can, after all is there anything better to do in this life ?
I agree.
Oscar Onyx I'm 67 and I play every day on my 1967 Gibson SG. Ironic about your post because I do think that there might not be any music or guitars when I go so I play and listen all the time.
Oscar Onyx FAIR CALL MY MAN
One of the best guitarist ever I saw in my life and I don't think I would see some one like with this pure fucking talent in my future too! This would stay in my playlist for ever and ever. RIP TIM. Respect from India!
K... Pétur..... I've tried to reach out to You: I am NOT Tim Postlewaite, and i'm NOT dead...You change that text, or i'm gonna shut down this video...I can prove to RUclips who i am, so stop calling me Tim Postlewaite, and stop saying that i'm dead...You got it ?
Oh , that´s great news !! It was´nt me who started calling "you" that..but one commenter ho said he kne the person in this video. I ilil change the text ith great pleasure. No here can e hear you play and what´s the name of the song you´re playing in the video!?!?
I updated the description, for now, without erasing hat as ritten before. I hope your claim is right, that you are indeed the guitar player in the video..No, if you have reached out before on this subject, I apologise for not keeping up to date with youtube messages. But you approach me here threatening to "shut down the video" ..I have posted this in good fait and had no income from it.
You are WELCOME for the FREE publicity..of over 600.000 vies and I´m sure some viewers have been inspired to learn the guitar. I also looked at your "RUclips"profile which contains ..NOTHING. So why don´t YOU prove to us that you are who you say you are , Mr Sorensen, if that´s your real name ?
Thanks mate !
If You wanna talk, let me know...Just tell me, to contact You on your google+
Cheers...
Mate..i do not want to piss You off ! I realize, that You like to share ! But...How would You feel, when someone told You, that there's a video of YOU, with a text saying, that You are someone-else, and btw: your also dead...Just be cool, m8 !
I normally hate shredders, but this guy is amazing.
His playing really cuts into me. It's heart-wrenching.
this guy is off the chain, rock on brother
You get guitar players and guitar players and this man plays right from the heart with such heartfelt passion, warmth and emotion. So sad he's living on the streets from what I can tell by his meagre possessions in his cart.......his calling is definately playing music and this is what makes him happy.
That's the kind of sound I like, not exaggerated, full of feeling, you can feel the music intention. It's not random notes.
Ein absolut kompaktes Werk . Großartig !
I cant stop coming back to this, some of the best blues licks ive ever heard.
Holy shit, it's some improvised blues licks that actually sound original and sincere. This guy is really cool.
I'm proud to see a man spend money on something could possibly be his future.I was sincerely touched by his guitar playing because i heard talent and a long life of lost hope and sadness. this man's skill is breathtaking and he left me in awe. best 2mins and 30secs of my 15year old life.
Utterly magnificent! Never in my wildest fantasies could I have possibly conceived of such deliberate and ingenious wordplay! Once more I say, BRAVO!
Duuuuuuuuuuuude !!! that's awsome he deserves to be heared all over the world !!!!
I've had your little film, almost from the beginning in my favorites (explorer).. en still have it..
And still can't get enough... it does not mather how short the film is, it's beautifull, and the rest i can only imagine how awesome it would be! :D thnx alot!
Press F to this man, he know is rocking along side Motorhead and other rockstars
Very sad read it.I see tim's videos around 5 years ago.He was a wonderfull musican , really really an inspiration for me.
Does anyone know an artist that plays blues as aggressive and passionate as this?
First i've ever heard come out this genre.
Would love to hear more.
What eloquence! Such mastery of the written word I've scarcely seen in all of my years! You have all the brilliance of Hemmingway or Wordsworth! I await your next jewel of the English language with baited anticipation! Well done, sir! Bravo!
God bless you! People like you are heroes of mine!
i love guitar, love metal, astounded by most, but whenever i come across with these kind of people, and my fingers and heart trembles with great awe, and my mouth speechless, this is what the real pure guitarist at heart really sounds like,
if only the few bests in life could survive for their talent... imagine how much ignorant people would be eliminated
This is amazing! So cool that you got to capture such a unique experience!
Great feel, You can hear he is playing his heart. Not thinking. Just feeling. Awesome!!
This guy plays so well.At least he deserves some respect and generosity.
All those people walking by nonchalantly as if they were deaf... I would have given every last cent and stood there listening to him play all day.
Beautiful and impressive when the love of music has no boundaries
What a shame, only 500 thousand hits. The world needs to hear this dude. He is amazing for sure.
R.I.P. Tim..... The world has lost a great talent!!!!!
Metal Head 420 He is alive.
WOW. You find the most amazing musicians in the streets and the metros in Paris. I have a violinist (filmed him, did my music final on him, my teacher loved him, and I got an address to write to him. We correspond often for about 10 yrs now. He still plays in the metro.
absolutely brilliant. that guy is insane. so powerful
i hope someone listen him. he play with heart
I think he's my old busking partner from the late 70's. "Poz" John Postlethwaite. We were friends in Plymouth England (70s) & busked around Europe (late 70s) including Paris metro & George Pompidou centre. If you find him before I do please put us in touch!
Just a man with nothing but his guitar, incredible
What a master guitarist, one of rare true artist who plays from deepest inch of his soul and heart...
Anyone please tell me what's the songs name, i am searching for it so hard and can't find it :/...
man thanks for this video, thats the type of music i like hearing, hes great, at least those too guys realize hes incredible. Ive already watched it 10 times
Free ,speaks through his instrument ,great guitarist.
seen this video in 2007 ... still can't believe this is real.... one of the reasons I started guitar ....
Very happy to hear that.. when one stumbles upon a moment like that, one can't forsee what good may come of it. I'm sure the guitarist would be happy too . I never found him again to show him the video , number of views and comments..I heard he died. His name was Tim Postlewaithe..
@@PETURK so sorry to hear this, please do not delete these videos, we need people to know what real music is.
this proves skills over imagery is way better. if only the music industry could see this.
Such a great and underestimated guitar player. His music is so stirring, emotional and melodious. He must record a CD !
This guy is amazing.....Best solo ever....What song is this....
Thank you David. actually I could use some money rihgt now, does anyone know how to get an ad like the ones you can "skip in x seconds" ? Or some form of sponsorhip, I also have litlle DIY vid that has reached the 100k view mark.. Not that i wish to bore anyone with ads..
Well captured !
And thanks for uploading it for people to see
@scotteful You can tell from the music he plays that he's been through a lot in his life. The sheer fact that he has that guitar in his financial situation shows that he loves his music.
we need another video of him, god damn it!
agreeed man that solo almost made me cry :) it made me think of my past it was really touching in my opinion.....
where is this guy when i need a jam partner, you never know who is going to tare it up , great job.
agreed buddy some of those licks are just stunning! id love to learn them.
This Is Music .. Pure Soul ..
wow hats of to you people would pay a lot of money to hear that kind of level of playing if it was in an arena but just because you are playing in a station entrance the majority of people seem to ignore the fantastic music that you play i think that you are a pro God bless anyhow.
Don¨t get it wrong guys...this man is richer than most of the people out there...
this guy awesome.need more videos
jesus christ it's depressing to see somebody that incredible on the street. that guy is an amazing guitarist
this guy could be great man, saviour of modern music. Image is nothing with that much talent.
Impressive, or not, he melted our faces. Mission accomplished.
You are a real musician, Adam
Bravo Bravo mangnifico super i love how he makes her cry he its my new favorite guitar player Bravo
I think he's John Postlethwaite from around Plymouth, Devon, England. My old busking partner from the late 70s. 2 acoustic guitars, 2 voices. We both had long red hair back then. Mine wavy with a beard. His straight, no beard. We traveled around Europe in an old ambulance from Holland through Germany then France. Strasbourg to Paris then south for the sun! Then on to Ibiza and eventually the canaries. I'm still singing with my acoustic here in St. Martin. Please contact me if you find him!
Yes. Just fantastic...and sad, too. A personal touch and amazing groove. Amix with Vaughn and Satriani....just great. 10-10
man ...im speechless...i wish i could play guitar like him
The guitar is literally crying!! Brilliant...
if i was there, im gonna buy him something to eat and lots of beer until we got drunk. amazing guy. i really love to see him watch his guitar and close his eyes while playing damn. full of emotions. it gives me chill.
@Metaljerek Just depends on what you mean by "poor". He may have a poor old soul, but he is in no way poor in reality. This man is what happens when you have a dream, and you set yourself to it. Bravo the the excellent guitarist.
this is just simple and fantastic...
real soul and talent right here.Sad enough he lives on the street.
Man, this guy is amazing. I can't believe there weren't more people watching him, if I was there I'd toss him at least a 20.
Cool stuff. Excellent Vid. Was not expecting it to be that good. Keep up the great vids
Those people just walking by like he's nothing should be ashamed that they don't know what real music is, he's an extremely good guitarist, he's playing with such feeling..........
holy crap if i saw this guy in the street id watch him for ages ! and id give him money for sure
Hey fellow returning listener, please consider sharing here a band/song that fill a similar void in your soul when you listen to it? I'd really apreciate it. I like to contribute with Eddie Hazels - Pray my soul, don't sleep on Funkadelics guitar masterpieces. Peace
Awesome! Is he saying "If you're coming back, I'll give you the sack?" The singing is perfect!
Its good to know there are still true musicians on this planet!!!
I realized a while back that what he can do on the guitar will get you where he is if you are not able to write a song.
@Wald79183 Here is why he is a genius, its not the licks he plays, its not the technical ability he has, its his soul that is being fucking expressed through that guitar, in those 2 minutes and 30 seconds that man shows every part of himself, shows his pain, his sorrow everything. That is what makes him a genius of the instrument.
can anyone tell me what style of music this is? im not a blues fan or jazz really but this style is amazing. anyone know? is this a song from someone or his own?
I have seen this guy somewhere in the states in Texas .. He is a famous American studio guitarist who played with Johnny Winter and Floyd Radford and all of those great Texas guys, like maybe Jake Andrews.
Awesome.....THIS DUDE CAN PLAY!!!! Hope things work out for him & he goes places!!!! Best Of Luck To Ya Dude!!!!!
This guy has the blues. Incredible.
why did you stop recording! it was just perfect
its sad how those people walking by dont appreciate how good this guy is
And people coming out of the tube without giving an ear to this man. Current situation in Paris, except I never saw a guy playing like that in the street.
damm ! i cant see this !! thats man its amazing . but i have a question that guitar its too expensive for him! do u think that is a poor perrson? not really :S
@nixonatorator That's not a Prestige, it's only an RG350. $400 here in Canada.
Wow! What skill. Shame so many people walked by without tipping their (metaphorical) hats and sparing a couple of bob. Terrific. I hope he's still doing it.
That is beyond amazing.
