Fun little cars Mads. The Typhon grom looks like it is a blast. I find it funny Arrma have used a surfing term to brand part of their line up. A grom is short for grommet which is a small/ young surfer. I surfed for 40 years until i got to old. I was once a grom ... 45 years ago 😂😂😂
Thanks Shayne, what an awesome comment, pinned it. I looked up the word Grom just the other day, so I knew this. But way better and more interesting to hear it from you. I could have been a Grom too, in South Africa also 45 years ago, but sadly I was and still is completely without talent in any sport, so I quickly have up surfing, ha ha!
What a great way to have lunch, beer, pork belly and a couple of little RC's! The RC's were very cool, that little crawler is very impressive and the Grom looks like a lot of fun. But wow, those blades are freakin BIG!!! 😬👊👍
Yeah, Mark, this was really a quite okay way to spend my evening when I can't be home, I had a good time with these little RC's, especially the Grom impressed me a lot. Yes, they keep making those blades bigger and bigger, I just checked, they are 79 meters long, no idea what that is in feet, but it's very big, he he... Thanks for the lovely comment as always, my friend, have a nice weekend, I look forward to see you crush Fil and his Fazer, ha ha!
Nice! Glad you brought some stuff to keep you entertained while not working. I did laugh when it transitioned from the crawler to the grom and it flew by so fast> I was like jeez what motor did he put in the crawler! LOL! I am glad it has thawed out there and you are able to get out and have some fun again!
Thanks Addam! Yes, finally it is spring, or I would even say we skipped spring and went straight to summer! He he, yeah, I thought of alternating between fast and slow shots, but I just stuck pretty much to the natural order the footage was shot in, so I drove the crawler first, and then the buggy... Sadly I missed a lot of footage due to the action camera being annoying, but it was okay. I definitely enjoyed that evening, better than being stuck inside a hotel room, ha ha!
Yeah, thanks Fil! The little Typhon Grom looks and feels similar to the big 8th scale buggy, so no wonder the footage might trick you. It's a really well designed buggy, almost perfect, I would dare to say... The flaws I heard about, I haven't experienced those yet. So far biggest issue is the quite short run time, and the ESC is a bit cheapish... Yup, I selected that hotel just because I knew those rocks are great. I actually spoke to a guy at the local hobby shop there, he said there is an RC track near there also, I didn't manage to locate it yet, hopefully for next time...
Nice chilled break from work there Mads! Always think I should get a few mini cars for some fun when I am away from home! Mini Z Hotel Room Time Trials??? 🤔
Thanks Craig! Yeah, I booked this hotel on purpose because I knew about thos rocks, and of course it was pure luck that the weather was so great! I haven't got me a MiniZ yet, but would love to have one at some point, hotel room time trials sounds like a cool idea!
What a great way to spend an evening Mads!! Was the alcohol free beer in case the boss ended up watching?? 🤔 Perfect location for a bit of rock crawling, nice mellow tranquil backdrop. Boy that Arrma was fast, looked like a lot of fun! 👍 👍 👍
Thanks James, I figured your name is not really Yoda, ha ha! Yeah, it was goodtimes, even without the alcohol, ha ha! I just don't drink certain parts of the year, I have a set schedule, so can't give my boss credit for that alcohol free beer... Helps me afford more RC stuff! 😬
@@madsrcbuggy Oh I see mate, very good, and great you are able to keep that set schedule!! Yeah man, I developed the nickname yoda many moons ago, and it kinda stuck to be honest! 😂 👍 👍 👍
Thanks Jeremy, I really enjoyed it there. The SCX24 is actually stock on all electronics, no power upgrades, just some weights, different geometry and better tyres... Could use a better ESC, someday perhaps... Yeah, the Typhon Grom is great, I love it! I also shot a lot of jump footage, but the camera decided to shoot timelapse, so the footage was useless, unfortunately. So far the buggy has held up great, the motor has lots of power, I suspect the ESC might be not so good, and especially run time of 10 minutes is a bit disappointing. The buggy is a joy to drive, they designed it really well!
Hi Dom, thanks, yes, I had a great time there, very suitable RC's for an evening like that. Yes, it used to be an SCX24, the chassis rails are changed to this cage chassis, but almost everything else is stock, just some extra brass and other wheels... I think, looking at the footage, it could use a better ESC, it's not very smooth on the throttle...

@madsrcbuggy I always dreamed of surfing in SA. Jeffrey's Bay and many other places are have world class waves. 💪👍

Man, that Grom is quick! At first glance I thought it was a Typhon. Excellent scenery and a nice perk to the job, hey?
