I love, love, love these little guys - I have about 10 of them sitting on the floor here from WLToy's, to HyperGo's, to TA Reflex's. I feel more comfortable running them because when they crash I know I am not going to break the bank. And as far as insane power and speed - a Mamba X and a nice 7800kv motor running 3S or 4600kv motor running 6S will get you up and going. I ran the latter on a full metal build and it lasted me all of 30 glorious seconds. Keep the content coming.
The Typhon also has a fan in front of the motor. My son has the Granite Grom & we ran his with my Typhon Grom yesterday. After the run, we brought them back inside (it was around 50F outside) and checked the motors. My heat sink was cool enough I could hold my hand there. His was so hot you couldn’t hold it for long. The Typhon is also a longer wheelbase, much like the Mini B is versus the Mini T. Those also have a ~$10 price difference.
I'm loving the granite grom. Helped me appreciate brushed motor racing stock racing. Even on 50% you can have a good time. We have Mini Bs and Reflex 14s for brushless minis. Gonna keep the Groms brushed for kids and guests and stock racing. Only resisting the buggy because I'm hoping for a Senton/Mojave Grom.
Man, I need to get back in it. It's been about 20 years since running RC, and then it was just bashing. I only ran nitro. But I live in lake Asbury and looking to get into rc racing
1) Outstanding little buggy. Know I want one. 2) It's too bad it's brushed. But, knowing that the Granite Grom, as well as the Losi Mini-T & Mini-B, so came brushed, and a brushless conversation was simple enough, I'm sure converting this to brushless should be easy enough. 3) The stock tires are fantastic for off-road...but, for on-road, they're a serious no-go. 4) Just curious why you removed the jumps along the back wall of the off-road track. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that was the best section of the track.
For the size of the buggy and speed a brushed motor provides I don't think anybody really needs to do a brushless motor swap. This is plenty fast enough with the brushed 380 motor.
@@JimbobJames-n2pDefinitely not "fast enough". Not saying it needs to be "lightening fast"...but, it DOES need to be faster. Plus, in any vehicle, 'speed' is not the only reason for switching from brushed, to brushless.
@@ninthislandrc why bother then, if you don't necessarily want to go faster why would you need to do the brushless swap? Makes no sense to me. I reckon brushed motors are fine. So who cares about the latest and greatest modern technology? Brushed motors are old technology but still plenty good enough. Plus there are so many brushed motors with different timing and varying windings from stock to extremely high performance. Don't need a special ESC either.
@@JimbobJames-n2p Where did I say I don't want to go faster? I never said that. What I said was, is not 'just' about going faster. Yes, I'd like it to be faster...but, that isn't the only reason for doing a brushless upgrade on any RC. People who only think brushless motors are about "going faster" don't truly know about, or understand, the advantages of brushless motors. I'd suggest you do some research, as I'm not going to waste space, or my time, trying to help you understand. The information is out there...check it out.
@@ExocagedRC I wonder what is causing mine. I’ve ran it on the driveway and the second run inside and noticed it then. What do you think is wrong with it.
Dunno Im not that excited about it myself, tough it would be fun little thing to beat on while big trucks are cooling down on a bash but not sure anymore. Deffo lacks in speed and cant handle flat short cut grass well either. For me, no-go but for my little cousins to get them into rc? Deffo grabbing couple
its cheap, great intro buggy option but you don't go back to brushed after brushless.. ARMMA: is there an option to upgrade to brushless?? has anyone? Needs more breakout power..
Hello my friend I think you should slow down a little bit and also turn down your steering rate because your all over the place this just my opinion. Thanks your friendly neighborhood hotel Doorman william from NYC Forgettaboutit
Love this sweet little thing! Good solid performer! Not a fan of those wheels , but easy enough to change out with more personalized ones. Love your new track surface! Enjoy your day brother!😎🤙🏽
What do you think is better 4WD mini at a better price? The AE Reflex brushed is $170 and doesn’t include a battery or charger. The Brushless AE Reflex with battery & charger is $260. An LC Racing 4WD with electronics and battery is $300. If you look at 2WD, the Losi Mini B brushless is $250 with battery & charger. The Brushed version is $160. The Typhon Grom is $140 with all electronics battery & charger. I race the Mini Bs at my local track & we only do brushed since it is a smaller track. We race the Granite Groms too & because that motor is so much faster than the Mini T/B brushed, we require running it at 50% throttle. I was never interested in the Granite Groms (my son has one, but I don’t care for monster trucks). I like buggies, so I picked up the Typhon Grom last night & ran it for a bit on the track before our race. It is significantly faster than the brushed Mini Bs, but handles better than the Granite Groms. With some more time to play with setup, it could be even better. I think both Groms are some of the best values out there today. They are very rugged, much faster than you’d expect and not all that expensive compared to any other mini option.
MAN I love this car!!!!!!!!!! cant complain about it at all. Hearing you get pure joy out of a small brushed car says a lot about this car. JUST FUN
Love it!! Can't wait to open up mine tonight. Looking forward to the Kraton or Outcast Grom to come out way 😅👌
Nice, love the on road track.
Sweet little ripper! The Grom platform rocks, I hope they do more of them! Picking mine up tomorrow
Mine will be here tomorrow!
Just picked up my typhon 3s today. Awesome vehicle.
How do you figure out where to put the rails for the track. Like sketch on paper first?
That thing looks fun ! 👍
Super awesome slice of rc heaven you made🎉❤

Cool little buggy
Love my Grom just waiting on the hot racing outdrives to come back in stock. But man I think I need one of these too
a good dirt track with some of the pin tiers would work wonders on this little thing
I picked up the blue , that rc is a hot hit, the price should be the same as the truck being same platform and both should have fans!

I ordered one
The steering is sensitive, but you get used to it..fun little rig.
Gyro time!!
you need someone to run the typhon 3s with you together 👍 that would be epic 💪💯🇬🇧

Dang it Joe!
I guess I'm stopping by the hobby shop on the way home...
That thing is awsome T GROM
That little dude is NASTY!
Need to get you a head mounted camera
I pick one up today, my hobby shop recommended this one
A set of rubber or foam TC tires will help a lot.
Is that your back yard? That place is awesome..
Man it’s nice will it be like it’s big brother lol ??
Still in the process of upgrading my Granite Grom to brushless, but man this thing is tempting
I'd be curious to see how your Redcat RDS slides on your concrete track.
👍😁😎✌️
👍👍😁
My local hobby shop is going to make a class for the typhon grom on their indoor carpet track 😊❤
Yep we are too! I want to keep them stock besides the pinion and tires
My local is doing parking lot racing with them. Should be mad fun!
Looks like a badass rig to me but I already have a 1/18 ecx on 3s which would probably compare nicely
Trying to decide on this or a Raminator. Just so close i can't pick.
LOL well buddy there is a bit of difference between these two

Just picked up both colors so the wife can run with me.
How long does the battery last?
Are the diff cups beefier than the truck version. I like this better! Much better!!!
Probably not
$15 off Hobbytown coupon… had to grab it lol
_Where did you get this from?_
Pretty cool but I'm still waiting for a 1/5 scale typhon.
A 1/6 version would be interesting
I WISH ARRMA would do that!!, They have everything they need, just buggy tires and a buggy body.. done
Is your turning radius to the right less. I feel like I can turn more to the left than right.
I haven't noticed any differences

Tie rod or your servo horn may have shifted?
Will there be a Grom Vorteks??

Its a great way into the hobby and if you find its not for you, you didn't waste a bunch of money, so its a win/win IMO
Is this “playground “ his backyard??
Yes this is my back yard
@@ExocagedRC can we be friends?
😂❤
sucks didn't last 15 minutes servo mount /horn broke.
Not worthy of a Speed Test ? Hyper Go most likely will smoke this Buggy big time. Oh, yeah !!
Oh this is not the fastest at all, not even close but its affordable with lots of easy to get parts.
Thats col if its durable. The mini erevo is trash. The mini hpi savage was cool. This looks built well.
It the same as the other GROM, just in buggy form
You can put monster truck tires on it. Light tires better for the servo . But it has a metal gear servo anyways.
no gyro takes skill... #smooth #fast #faster #smooth #flex #FUN 🦁👍 $150 #great #value
Skills I don't have!! LOL
It’s to slow. Not a fan of Rlaarlo but the am x12 kicks butt with this toy 😂

You should mount the camera somewhere and just do some good two handed driving.
99$ at rc madness might grab 2 for me and the wife
You can't "feel" RC cars. It's all in your own mind.
Dang, never realized that…
Trying to record a nat! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
lol

Another trash product following Grom
Wow that car absolutely sucks.
for the price I like it, plus we will be racing them.
Car has no traction with those tires. Suspension is way too stiff for the onroad track. Literally not even a single lap was possible!!!
Just had to cry about it huh
You realize he's also driving one handed, right?

A mini Z is $250
