Renegade is the reason other rappers were afraid to collab with eminem for YEARS!
According to some rappers it was an actual freestyle off the dome that made everyone go nope not fucking with the white boy. Rick Ross was gonna diss Em to get some clout when he was beefing with 50 and had something written, heard the freestyle and Torey up what he wrote and stopped talking wreckless about Em, a couple others back then did the same and came to the same conclusion including Game. No we can't. This is hip hop and that is how we have always done it. This ain't nitpickin, that would mean it was close. Jay did not kill it. He got handled and it's ok. Jay is still the biggest baller in the game. And, that's all Jay cares about.
I’m sorry brother I can’t agree with that. Em killed that verse. Jay…let’s just say it wasn’t his best work.
Jay-z's best work is consistency and laid back flow almost lazy. Jay-z killed his verses using his own style that has always been him. Eminem switches in and out of flows but his cadence is hyper active like DMX or any white rapper for that matter. They always sound like they are yelling and super aggressive on records. Their styles were contrast so the more energetic one works for the "win" but both styles fit the beat perfectly.

The Eminem verse on Renegade was more captivating at first glance... meaning his verse/flow sounded cool.
But, if you listen to what he is actually saying... Jay-Z was spitting some real knowledge (Gems) plus a few double, triple, and probably quadruple, entendre... It took me awhile to realize Jay actually had the more meaningful verse.
Em was telling a story based on how people view his lyrics at face value and it's impact on society (especially the kids/youth) and use it to judge him in real life. He also highlights on his upbringing and life from rags to riches in the game.
Jay on the other hand talked about the tough time in his childhood, neighborhood, growing up and the lessons he learned from that poor state to his current state doing him.
Both spoke about factual issues about their upbringing and raise to fame doing them from their personal perspectives.
That makes it a classic track. The difference in the song is the delivery which em effortlessly flowed and outrapped Jay. His breath control and choice of words is brilliant and impeccable.

@@od3rflalol no. They did a song calm down and busta's verse was mid af. Em outrapped him.
People who say this don't listen to lyrics they just skim through it.. that 2nd verse from Jay is the best verse on the entire song..
No it wasn’t. Jay’s versed were great but Eminem’s were just better. Nothing wrong with admitting that
Jay z's verse goes over alot of people's heads, it went over mine when thr song came out
He should listen to it again. Read the lyrics while you do it too.
A piece of your integrity died and you were never the same man after that day.
To the young men out there, this is like letting another man violate you.....
All we got is our word when the money gone.
And if that ain't solid, what kinda man you really dealing with
Ridiculous y'all, I just listened to this song 3 times before commenting, please please, go listen with adult ears, this was 22 years ago, Em was still slim shady and telling his 8 mile story on this song yet again, Jay has always had a mature style of rapping that most people wont get with just one listen because it's not considered party music, bruh was spitting straight facts of life while Em was only talking about how nobody believed in him, Em just has a different cadence than Jay on the song, definitely not better lyrics, listen to Jay's opening bar. "Are y'all listening or just skimming through it?"
personally I prefer the more mature bars, but to each his own...Salute!
Nonsense.
@@williamh.gatesiii8183I agree
Look at how much you typed to try and sway people from the truth.. Jay got killed and it’s okay. He’s still a legend
Yall bugging, jay-z definitely killed em on renegade. Don't let others influence your judgment, listen for yourself.
"Don't let others influence your judgement" Often said by mfs that are the easiest to influence
yeah i’m taking jay z verse over em
Jay Z is trash, most overrated rapper ever
No
Dude is hilarious, authentic and smart 😂
Jay's verses aged much better than Em's. At the time that Em flow just sounded so good we couldnt even focus on what was being said. To this day the most quoted lyric from that song is "Do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?"
No it didn’t. Em is mentioning historical figures and how they became renegades. While jay talking about boxing lefty, often, & orphans, while his stomach grumbling
@luddman77 ya u don't listen to music u definitely skim through it
@@obaidbaig2058 I guess you lived in a fatherless home with no direction, like Jay!!! That’s why you relate so well. For me that wasn’t the case
@luddman77 ya I guess you're debated disputed hated and viewed in America as a drug addict.. and that's why u related to that
@@obaidbaig2058 his point was, how you going to talk about me, when you guys experimented too or went even harder. He just pointing out the hypocrisy!!!!😂😂
I never thought Eminem killed Jay-Z on that song.
If anything it's dead even but Eminem has always received more praise because his verses weren't wack and he didn't embarrass himself.
People expected him to drop some silly shit like Purple Pills but were surprised by how serious his subject matter was and were caught off guard with his passion/emotion on the song.
