Always fun to see Drewski promoting DCS! Only big things I would say would be to turn off your lights when in combat and stay out of burner unless you desperately need the speed. It blows through your fuel like crazy.

TWS in those close situations is your friend. They finally made the 120c close to real performance so when you were at angels 14 with the enemy 14 miles I would have done tws and hit all 5 missiles. The missiles will automatically loft with the new performance updates. So they act a lot like the Tommy’s Phoenix. Just a heads up for future reference. I know you’re still fairly new to the sim but play around with TWS on the hornet you’ll like it.

There are over 1000 aviation terms but for the three you mentioned.
Fox 3 is a active radar missile such as an aim 120 or an r 77 this means that the missile has its own radar and doesn’t need the plane to guide it.
Notch is a maneuver where you turn to the left or right of a contact to I believe limit your radar signature to make it harder for missiles to hit. (correct me if I am wrong.)
Splash is a kill.
@@Andrew-ph9np By flying perpendicular to the radar, it will have serious trouble tracking you because the radar is depended on the Doppler effect to track you. However it can still track you because you stand out in relation to the skies. By flying low and notching you more or less go invisible to the radar and the missile will be unable to track you.
TNd to counteract the doppler effect, couldnt they just put a second radar 90 degrees off to one side?
But then you'd need them to notch to that specific side, or youd need a third radar

Hey i just thinking about how did that mig notched you when he was almost hot on you and i see you have radar on MED freq if you will put on high or ILV you will find him again, and with AIM9X its a high off boresight missile so you can shoot them way above your boresight like almost 70 degrese up and 50 left or right
is there any disadvantage to high freq?
@@OperatorDrewski well when you cant find him on radar just change it until the radar pick him up sometimes the high freq cant find the target but if enemy below you so the radar need to look down on the ground med freq never pick him up it thing its some bird or something like that
@@OperatorDrewski Hi freq is best for picking up high aspect targets closing on you fast. Med is better for flanking targets or slow moving.

FYI you can set your cockpit to night mode with the switch outboard of the right console. This will make the IFEI green for night ops. Switch up another position optimizes the lighting for NVGd.

Idk if you knew, but btw in the f-18 you can put the rwr on your hud, by going in the EW page and selecting HUD option

The F/A-18 is a carrier aircraft, but coming it at a 7 degree glide path and stalling it onto the runway probably broke the pilot’s spine and w/o the airframe lmao

Don't forget to turn your external lights off when in combat. Enemy AI and players can see them.
The ai actually doesn't see your EXT lights and it was PvE so it doesn't really matter.
