  • Installed a smooth titanium scale on the Rick Hinderer Eklipse knife in Magnacut and a swedged spear blade. This is a great EDC flipper knife, with fantastic ergonomics.

Very nice build! Hinderer is my favorite brand. I own 4 of them at the moment and plan on getting more. There’s just something about them that speak to me. A little trick I picked up from Metal Complex is to have a second penny and cut a little triangle in it with some snips for the back side. It works like a charm.

That sounds like I would have an easier time holding the rear pivot still using that method. Thanks. They are great knives and it's awesome to see an American company doing so well

I was lucky enough to get the same knife as you except i got the Blue G10 and Blue Anodized Eklipse Swedged Spear Point Magnacut. I absolutely love it. I don't have money like you and the scale will probably remain blue G10 but like you, I use my carry knife. I live in my Fortress of Solitude (Nissan Xterra) and I have a Harley Road King that I love road trips on and I'm always on it. I live in NE PA right now and it's humid as hell here, but as soon as I get a trailer for the bike I'll be down south and all along the coast A1A is my favorite and then I'll be dealing with the salt air and I'm not worried about this knife standing up to those conditions. Oh and this time, I'm getting to Key West. But I'm so lucky I got this knife and it couldn't have happened at a better time. I don't know of any other blade I would have used for something that recently happened to me. I locked myself out of my vehicle and I used the Eklipse to pry down the window and then cut out the window gasket to get a coat hanger in and trigger the lock button. My most favorite carry knife before this was a St Nick's exclusive Manix 2 XL and I don't think I would have even tried to use it for prying down the window. Yeah, it's a beast and a great carry choice. I don't see anything that I don't think I can do with this knife. Thanx, for sharing and letting me...

All we really only need is one knife, and I am glad you found yours. Had I found this one earlier I might have skipped many others.

    spydie flick-
my choice for the most ergonomically emphatic and predictably satisfying deployment for these hinderers.
my sense also is that the curved xm-18 flipper offers more grip security and protection than the eklipse at the expense of flipping facility.

I'm such a fan of both designs, but I think if they just straightened out the curvature of the flipper on the XM-18 it would feel even better in my hand. I'm talking about just remove a tiny bit of material.

Have the same, I'm waiting for the smooth Ti scale in working finish to become available and throwing the battle bronze hardware on it.

I really like the smooth Ti in the hand. I have the textured one as well but the smooth one is my jam

Glad to see you got it how you really wanted it. I have found the pb washers take some time to break in once you have swapped em in. But after that the actions is fairly close. I’m definitely a manual action kinda guy as well. But still curious how the auto ends up working for you

There was blade rock with the PB washers in. Sometimes they need to be very specifically fitted with the right size washer thickness, and I'm thinking the dimensions were off. Metal Complex said he was never able to get the washers to work without blade play.
