  • Here's my latest carnivorous plant update for 2024. Wow what a season it's been so far! We've had hot days around 35 degrees Celsius (hotter in some instances) and we've had good rainfall. To make things interesting we've had some beautiful light shows in the form of summer storms. These conditions have provided lots of humidity which carnivorous plants thrive in. Ther's also been lots of insect activity, especially house flies. Of course, my carnivorous plants have made the most of the insect bonanza. I know my North American pitcher plants are happy because I can literally hear all the trapped insects inside the pitchers. I also see the carcasses of flies in the Venus Flytraps and trapped insects on the sundews. Join me as we discover the beauty of carnivorous plants as we explore my nursery. I also have some new cultivars and varieties of North American pitcher plants which are looking stunning. Happy growing to you all!

Those bird decorations are so cool at 0:55, Also the Sarracenia at 6:50 is a Umlauftiana.

You have some amazing plants growing there. I had to laugh when you mentioned high temps... I live in Scotland, that's really not a problem for me. I've had a Venus fly trap for about 2 years, before I knew that it was wrong to put them in teracotta pots, I did and it looked like it was suffering. I've just put it back into plastic but when I was doing it it looks like it's now a lot of small plants with hardly any roots, do you think it will be ok or just look after it and hope.
    Loving the videos

6:50 Not sure what that is but it's AMAZING! If I wasn't in the US, I'd offer to buy an offshoot from that plant. My ideal Sarracenia is leucophylla coloration on a purpurea form ... and that plant is reeeeeally close to that. Hope it does well for you!

I see a lot of people keeping their plants submerged in water while a lot of other people say not to. I suspect both methods work though

Can I feed my nepenthes flytrap live fly maggots. I live in Mexico and there is a lot of trash around so fly maggots are easy to come by🤢

You can but unless you have a large collection of plants you can't expect them to act like the ultimate pest control, you also might not want to overdo the feeding, but that's more of a personal thing.
