  • My first Venus Flytrap update for 20222 where I explore how my Venus Flytraps are looking at this time of year. It's late summer h in Sydney Australia. With all the rain we've been getting coupled with sunny periods it's been a bumper year for my carnivorous plants,
The wetter more humid conditions have spurned on a lot of insect activity. Of course my North American pitcher plants, Venus Flytraps, and other carnivorous plants have taken advantage of this.
In this update I also discuss some growing tips for Venus Flytraps from the best type of water to use to the growing medium I use for my plants.
    Happy growing to you all!

Kool video ,mine are just slowly coming out of dormancy, so are all the sarracenia and sundews. Can't weight ,got a bunch new ones for my collection, finally dormancy is almost over ,when you get a bunch of new ones dormancy couldn't end soon enough haha,I'm more of a sarracenia grower but got plenty of traps and dews as well

Nice to hear you got new plants. Its always hard riding out winter but at the same time you know that dormancy' is necessary and good for the plants. Have you had a cold winter?

i really like the big mouths, i just got mine in mail a few days ago. unfortunately being a starter plant it has a few years to go before it looks its best ... still better than my walmart plant weed i'v had for about three years. now id like to get my hands on a red dente of some kind ... just out of curosity what is your goto soil mix for VFT's? everyone seems to have there own favorite ... is one better for beginners that may over water a bit?

Hi there ....all the best with yourBig Mouth Venus Flytrap .......they are one of my favourite cultivars. With their shirt petioles and BIG red traps they're hard to beat. I use 3 parts peat to 1 part propagating sand. These days though I substitute sand with perlite. Both mixes work well for my plants......happy growing!
