My 7 year old son came by while I was watching... he said, it's an electronics repair school, right? I said yes... Then he said, it looks like he's destroying instead of repairing!!! lol I had to agree but I explained that the guy knows what he's doing!!
The lengths Sorin will go to just to not take out the motherboard is crazy. 🤣 I would be immediately concerned about the other side of the board if there's liquid damage.
@@preytec doubt he get anywhere near the money of a dentist. Very few electronic repair shops in the uk because there is no money in it. More money in swapping mobile batteries and screens - if you are a fast worker. with 20 mins for lunch.
Wow! Your videos like this one amaze me. I doubt any other repair tech would have the patience to go to this length for a fix. You do great work getting laptops working again for people where other techs would just say it's not fixable. Proper nice work! 👍👍
on the back of the board, the keyboard side, there is clearly a trace that is supposed to go to where you were drilling, i was waiting for you to notice it and reconnect it , check your video, at 18:48, the severed trace is under where its written PQV01 on the board
Yeah, this one trace is obvious, but there may be more that are now missing. If customer would be willing to pay for the time, proper repair is to find schematics and reconnect what is missing.
I think it might be ground for the big heatsink via area which is cooling the mosfet area (transferring heat to the other side of the board), and that little cap that now capacitates into nothingness. Not important for operation.
@@hmartinlb unlikely. this trace would not be needed if it was connecting to the ground plane, because there are vias on the ground plane already. it was clearly going more to the right. If that is going to PMIC, it is problably a feedback and this would shut down this power rail. But before we start guessing, first thing would be to check.
Sorind drilled the motherboard and made it work. Imagine what could he do drilling in oil rigs?! LOL Nice job mate! One more thing, can you notify us somehow when you do sponsorship with Temu?
MR. SORIN YOU'RE SUCH A *GREAT ARTIST* 😁, YOU TOLD US BEFORE THAT: {every fix you do is a great practice} and everytime you prove us right AND THAT MAKES ME PROUD THANK YOU FOR EVERY SINGLE FIX YOU DO💙
Sorin, you're a magician =) PS: Why don't you use a bootable linux flash drive to test the devices? There would be no privacy problems and they have quite recent drivers, especially for CPU/Nvidia GPUs
Hey I'd like to send you some presents if possible. Just some gifts like some microdermals and tips that might make your life a little bit easier when you do precision dremeling!!
Hello, I follow you and train with you in the clips, and I have come a long way, but I am facing a case of an HP laptop that works well, but the image starts to cut off after a while of turning on the device. I checked and there were no shorts, but when I put the motherboard under the thermal camera and turned on the device, it turns out that the coils near the processor are heating up very high and I don't know where the problem is coming from. Can you guide me, thank you
Hey Sorin. I'm curious but doesn't your power supply show the current limit? Why do you use pliers to check it? You like sparks/fireworks? :) You are an incredible technician. Most people wouldn't even attempt to fix a burnt board.
Amazing, just amazing.🍰👍 If there's one thing I've learned over the past few years of doing repairs, troubleshooting is more/most important than being able to solder.🤯 It's a true art that only experience can give. I know your primary focus these days is laptops but I wish there were some videos on control board repairs. That's all I've been getting lately and most end up being a bit of a rabbit hole (no fix). I always get a sick feeling when I get a non working control board that has a microprocessor and no obvious faults or shorts, the fault almost always traces back to the MCU ... unless I'm doing something wrong.🤔 I recently invested in a logic analyzer as a result so I can test the MCU first to hopefully minimize the rabbit hole experience.🥴
I wish you could've worked on it more, considering your skills, you probably could have saved the GPU. These laptops are not cheap and able to charge more for it anyways.
Thats a coincidence I have been shouting for the last 10 minutes look at the other side of the board, now I know why not, look at the other side of the board
the worst component level repair man ever, dirtiest jobs on the planet, you could have see the other sie of the board at first ... lazy repairman... you drilled a hole for nothing under the mosfet ... why don't you do your jobs more clean and more professional ?
Need more information! lol. I can't fathom a multi-layer board with a big hole in it like that. Aren't the hidden layer traces (if smaller) completely obliterated? How to tell what's also running through there...?

yes
LOL
Time is money i think
The more things you take out means less pizza time 😂
You don't know Sorin yet then my friend 😂 I've seen many things on his videos...but "being concerned" is not one of them! 😊
My OCD goes nuts when Sorin rips, tears and drills into these boards LOL
Lord ya got that right.
Sorin, the dentist of motherboards! Unbelieveble amazing! 👏👏👏👏👏
IT'S ALIVE! Dr Frankenstein does it again 🐸
dr frankenstein wtf 🤣
Frankensorin??? ITs alive, its alive!!!
Not many technicians would go this far, well done ❤
It is true that you are just like a dentist. Find the bad component, remove it, drill, and then seal 😂
Exactly like a dentist.
Yeah, but he's richer than a dentist

Sorin you know the drill! Great job, very extraordinary
motherboard with a gaping hole full of brown liquid. sorin: "perfect!". There is nothing the magician cannot fix. mad respect!
No one like you on RUclips sorin thank you for your knowledge .
Many likes him 😂 including myself
We have pictureeee, that's craaazy.
Man u are magician, i love your content. Keep going. God bless u and your family ❤️
Very good finding! Directly under the MOSFET. 😊
sorin doing some god level repair that's amazing
Excellent work! nice video for Sunday, We removed the hole, Thanks Sorin!
So love your videos sorin! keep up the great work!
Can't wait to see Sorin's videos replacing all that capacitors 😂

Dodgiest repair, kudos Sorin😅
So it was the liquid under the mosfet that caused the layers to burn?
reminds me of a SAAB 9000 I once fought
Nice! 👍👍👍
SORIN AKA GRU from Despicable me😂😂
its like root canel lol even north bridge repair dont ever do that not even once lol
Next video Sorin breaks out the jack hammer.
And that's why you should brush your board two times daily 😅
Acer engineers must be banging their head in disbelief... What the hell... 😅😅😅

the important point, Capasitor doing job as Fuse and Filter. correct me if im wrong.
One day they will invent ceramic capacitors that fail open circuit and all the electronics will last forever.

Usually, under a power MOSFET, there aren't any small tracks, which could be impacted by grinding.
When he says rosin does he mean flux?
