This one had everything!
Deceipt, adventure, horror, surprises and even a fairytale ending
ok
Man you have come such a long way since I started watching you. Considering how that fan plug was when you started, the repair is immaculate. Favorite repair channel!
Posted my first comment before I finished the video. Holy crap you got the console working! I think this is the best repair I've seen by you so far. Excellent job bro!
Thank you, these messages honestly make my day. It's why I have loved every second documenting starting the journey on RUclips 😊😊
My thoughts entirely! It's so impressive
Your vids inspired me to have a go at some SMD rework - my goodness you don't half make it look easy, but I got there in the end. I've learned a huge amount from your channel, thanks!
Without shadow of a doubt your best video yet! The trace work on the wifi pad was unreal. Great stuff again Joey.
Thank you Stu! :)
This was in a few words, the best damn win that sally has had, in terms of skillful recovery from what anyone else would consider a game shattering disaster.... Well done, we are all loving the progress along this wonderful journey. So inspiring and so honest. Keep it up :)
Incredibly kind of you Mark, thank you for the awesome words :D
This one really shows your growth. Diagnosing issues when things dont go as expected, reballing, and just the overrall ability to repair and understand what is going on. Great job! Took this one from the dump and turned it into something that can be appreciated again.
Yeah, the seller knew exactly what he was doing. Made no effort to tell the truth.
I'm an eBay seller myself and on most broken items I make no effort to find out what's wrong, not worth the time, if it doesn't work it's listed for parts. I would assume that the seller just plugged it in, concluded it didn't work, and thus listed it for parts, nothing wrong with that
Sadly the more you say eBay the less people will take a gamble on it
@@BatteriesRcool99 The fact that the seller didn't show a picture of the top of the console shows exactly that he wanted to hide the missing front grill piece.
Dropped all broken stuff together and boom
Yup, seller is experienced, he knows what hes doing. Send it back.
Besides 49 pounds profit you've also gained at least one subscriber with this repair. I loved this video! 40 minutes just flew by😅
Haha thank you and welcome! :)
Joey, this is the best repair Ive seen so far. Very impressive and it’s great to see how far you’ve come❤
I do not have the patience or eye for detail for this kind of work. Amazing work dealing with such a mess. Great show of skill and knowledge as well as a solid support team on Discord.
I really love this video. You don't give up on it and it only feed us hope. The long format is a welcome one too !
Hi there Joey, I wanted to mention that in a Video Card Repair channel called NorthWestRepair. He demonstrated using a clear UV mask which cures really fast and hard and also has the added benefit of seeing how it has been repaired and how. The UV light can get under a connector (or whatever) and cure it completely. It doesn't look as pretty as the Mechanic Green, Red, Black and Blue. But the clear UV Mask works so much better. It may be worth looking into. You could always put a thin coat of green on top of the clear after to make it look better, but that is entirely up to you. Cheers!
This was my favorite of the series so far! Crazy how much you have learned and mastered throughout this series! So fun to watch!!
Insane fix! Great example of saving a device bound for landfill and turning it in to something awesome 👏 Definitely my favourite repair you've done.
Hey, Joey! Really love how you always try to be empathic with a possible amateur or home-made attempt of repair, even in the case of a so messy work as it was this PS5. Great video as always! Regards!
first video i have seen from you. brilliant narration and storytelling with as much live as possible. felt like there was a lot of fix put into how long the vid was. plus kept it enjoyable with your personality. as for the fix wow well done, as soon as i would have seen the soldered fan cable i would've sent it back, good perseverance
This was the most educational and exciting video I've watched this month. Great to see how difficult it is to repair electronics at such a level but to also share your knowledge with us and give us such a close look on what goes on!
Thank you! That means a lot 😊
Wow! You’re amazingly patient! Well done. I’m so glad you got that machine to work. If you purchased this from an individual, I’d be hard pressed to believe they didn’t know what a mess that was in.
My word Joey, that was an absolute beauty of a repair, from something that seemed an utter lost cause from the get go, to an item that has escaped being sent to landfill, all through your knowledge and sheer determination (and the guys in the Discord of course).
Watching you do these repairs really makes me wish I could do the same, maybe in the future I will have the time to sit and tinker with things and acquire the relevant knowledge, so I too can help keep tech from landfill, until then I shall simply watch in awe as you do what you do best
Very good job Joe! I love your attitude! Thank you for great content. I'm really enjoy it.
So pleased and over the moon that you got this console working, your perservance and hard work certainly paid off. Well done.
so much win
really happy to know people doing great repairs exist
Your videos are always so enjoyable to watch, but this one was exceptionally good. I honestly wasn't sure that you'd be able to fix it, but you did!
Great job Joey, you are making such great progress on what you enjoy doing. Keep up in the profit zone and keep making great content. Looking forward to your next one 🙂
This video is amazing! 🌟 I learned so much from your clear explanations and engaging style. Keep up the great work-looking forward to more awesome content from you!
Thank you and welcome aboard! Enjoy the rest of the content 😁👍
Wow, Fantastic Repair and Video!! Someone was learning, and butchered the board. Everybody needs to learn though. Thank You. 😀
That was such amazing work. Was cheering you on! Great job Joey
As others have already said this is probably one of the most impressive repairs you have done. Despite my extensive microsoldering experience I would have probably given up on this one. Incredible job Joey!
Never watched a video like yours dude, incredible! Truly can see your passion for this and I hope you make it!!!
Thank you ☺️
Wow you’re a very talented repairman that fan connector looks immaculate
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words.
Ive seen a few of these types of channels but none do it as good as you, really enjoyed that vid your smashing it
Wow I learn a lot from your video. I do smd soldering occasionally too, but this is beyond my level. I can tell most newbie will fail for the first time when they do this.
It's not easy and definitely need proper technique ie what solder tips to use, temperature of hot air, the importance of flux, where and when to point at the things you trying to solder because these board were design to take a lot of heat.
Plus of course you need to have a strong basic knowledge in electronics. Very unique especially the way when you solder the hdmi port👍
I can’t believe your knowledge on this. First video of yours I’ve watched and it was so intriguing and a great outcome 😄
Thank you :) Welcome!
That was a treat of an episode. You brought that PS5 back to life! I applaud you good sir. I really want to get into electronics to this level, but man you rock!!!
Nice work Joey, Methodical and proper quality work..
Amazing fix, lots of different problems but you really did great. Congrats Joey 🎉
Stumbled across this channel and found this episode fascinating. You now have a new subscriber in me...and I have just subscribed to my first ever repair channel! It's a win-win 😊
This was one of my fave episodes thus far I think. Such an amazing fix!
Since there was FIFA (FC24) installed on the console my guess is the owner itself messed up his console trying to repair it. Very nice job Joey! Amazing that you were able to fix the abomination they sold you.
Mad skills bro! I’ve been watching some other tech repair channels and the algorithm recommended this vid. Could immediately tell you were a notch above with your technical knowledge and skill. New subscriber here. See you in the next one!
Really cool to hear, thank you! Hope you enjoy some of the other videos as well 😊
Thanks for thr comment about self repair. Ive done some bodges on my own soundbars and worked fine. Broke since but i wouldn't expect anyone else to see them
Unreal! Difficult fix, kept it clean. Love it!
Found your channel today and already hyped to dig deeper. I could watch restoration/repair videos all day
Enjoy! :)
Awesome win Joey I didn’t have faith at the beginning not in your skills but the absolute mess they made of it
Well done bud your skills and confidence is growing experientially long live the green for sally 😂😂👊🏻
Oh wow. That board. What a mess. You are truly a miracle worker Joey. Great job. Thank you for all the great content!
Thanks for always watching Gary! Appreciate you :)
Joey, this was the most amazing fix so far if you ask me - that PS5 board had been properly mauled (hot glue!!!!) - and you brought it back from the dead. Super-skills dude, super-skills 👌
Amazing video!!! I completely enjoyed it! Thank you for your efforts Joey🎉🎉🎉😊
Thank you for watching! :)
im very very impressed your deffo getting better joey,, being a engineer myself, ive seem u got from knowing very little to jumpin in deep end welll done u should be proud buddy ,, well done, x all best lee.
Difficult one but advertising spares or repairs would suggest it's likely a doner console but maybe repairable. If it was just labelled as faulty with 'does not turn on or no image' that would suggest it's repairable. But i'm in no doubt the seller knew what he was selling & listed as such to cover his backside.
God Joey, what a victory!
You bring peace to my depressed mind.
You deserve much more attention.
Wow, well thats a great example of what repairing is really all about! And yeah GG to Roy, he literally has an answer for anything! XD
Brilliant job! It's very interesting to watch how you work!
I don't know anything about what you just did, but was celebrating with you! Well done! Subscribed!
Awesome work Joey 👍 …. although I would recommend you survey the whole board before picking up your iron. Keep up the great work 😀👍
Wow. Hat's off to you, Joey. That soldering was spot-on (Ha!). What a win! Had a bad feeling when you pointed out the Hot-Glue in the beginning but Holy Cow - that poor PS5 had to suffer some botches, didn't it?
Great work like always, Joey! 😁
I usually don't comment that often, but this repair absolutely blows my mind. I thought that PS5 was done for. The amount you have grown throughout your entire time on RUclips is awe inspiring. You've truly transformed into an expert level console repair technician. You've truly surpassed others in this niche in skill that have been doing this much longer. Keep working hard my friend!
Thank you! :)
this feels like watching my dad repairing electronics i love it
When making the wires, leave a little more past the area. That way, you can add some more coating to anchor them down.
Top work as always Joey! I've just bought one of your repaired digital PS5's tonight, can't wait to receive it!
Lets go Robert! That's the one in this video haha. Any issues with it, just let me know =]
@@JoeyDoesTech I trust your work so I'm sure it will be fine!
@@JoeyDoesTech Console is up and running now Joey, everything is working fine, played various games for around 3 hours and no issues, fan very quiet.
A delight to watch Joey. Thanks.
Great job, Joey! Also, you've shown the best possible way of tackling such a huge job: going at it one step at a time (repairing the fan connector, replace the southbridge, etc.). You didn't get discouraged at all even though this may have looked like a deal breaker to start with. Could it be useful data to check for a faulty/blown southbridge by measuring the test pad? I can imagine it will not always show the same results but it just might help track down issues with the southbridge a little sooner. Other than that it is so nice to see how far you have come on this journey, something you can be really proud of.
Exactly Toolz! One step at a time :) Thank you bud.
One of your best yet 👍👍
Fantastic episode! Great work with this one!
If I were a gambling man, I would have bet that this was a junk "no fix". Excellent job on the fan connector. Amazing content Joey.
Joey, this is by far your most impressive fix yet. That board was a goner and you performed CPR....you did have the cost of the new hdmi port that your forgot :)
New sub, really enjoy the fact you tackle significantly more damaged tech than other youtubers do
Thanks appreciate that :)
This was rather exciting to watch. Could've gone either way, but I was not feeling the love that it was gonna go the way it did... Ecstatic to be wrong though! 🤘
First full vid I have watched... Really amazing work, if you have any tips to share for a noob soldering maniac, it would be appreciated, from best tools to have as a starter and what you can't live without.
Rollercoaster of emotions. Well done!
Randomly popped in my feed, fully watched the video without skipping a second, dubbed! 🎉
Thank you and welcome! :)
I think the term 'previous technician' may have been a bit kind :D Well done, that was interesting to watch and a positive outcome again! woohoo!
I've cooked some ICs (usually a PCH) with temperatures that high when reflowing after reball. Recommend heating from the bottom until the board reaches 150C then come from the top with temperatures until the IC reflows keeping the top air under 260C (leaded balls melt and flow around 190-200c). maximizes succcess by minimize possible damage due to heat. a good cheap preheater helps with this job. ( I use the T8280, can be somewhat slow, but solid, the new quick 861 pro has awesome/accurate temperature control now too)
That was a fierce BATTLE if you ask me, Joey. LET'S GOOOOO
That fan rail you talk about going through the board using a single via is the PWM fan speed rail.
Pretty nice repair ! Huge respect for your work, and for your kindness about the seller, who totally deserve a bad review for overpricing a known monstruosity
That’s one of the best ps5 repair video I’ve ever seen. Great job Joey!
Fingers crossed for 7, Joey. Love watching you win m8! lol
That one wasn't easy at all, a gg is totally deserved Joey, congrats !
Congratulations from Barcelona. Great job!!!
Excellent fix Joey, well done! Phil will be proud i'm sure ;)
A nice smidge of silastic around that fan header will help no end, with via’s like that I find it better to pass the wire through the via as it may already be compromised
Fascinating video, supreme perseverance, I wish I had that skill 👍🏻
Thank you :)
Just found your channel! Love it! Subscribed.
Joe buy a soft conductive ESD brush and hold it together with your positive lead and use it to hunt for continuity.
beautiful work, not to mention reballing without paste and mask lol
I was rooting for you on this episode!
Incredible fix Joey!
Man that was a mission. Great win!
An impressive fix. That was a mess. Excellent work.
Great video joey, really enjoyed.
Nice work! That was a lot of effort to say the least!
Amazing job joey. Well done pal.
It's absolutely not worth it to repair it for the money, but man I'm happy to see another console saved. Incredible work.
Thank you :)
Incredible repair. Suscribed!
Yep. That's eBay in a nutshell. Great repair Joey!
Thanks pal :)
putting those ball on was so cool to watch i sooo want to learn this stuff
You are getting so good my friend. What a repair.. congrats ! 👏👏👏👏⭐⭐⭐
Thank you bud! :)
Simply amazing skills bro 👌 what a legend
That wasn't a fix... that was a full-blown restoration! nice!
your skill is insane, i would not be able to do that, hope to be like you one day
