Sectarianism blinds people. Bashar isn't Shia or Sunni he's an Arab nationalist secular Ba'athist of Alawi background. People who try to reduce this conflict to "Alawi minority" oppressing "sunni majority" always fail to mention how the vast majority of Syrian Army is comprised of Sunni Arabs who prefer a secular nation over Islamists.
Syrian CIA backed color revolution was the worst thing that happened to Syria and only benefited Israel.

If you agree with his reasoning why don’t you correct your wrong assumptions? The whole problems started with Israel and USA meddling in the internal affairs of west Asia just to promote Israeli strongholds on the Palestinian and Arab lands the whole story of ISIS and ISIL was created by CIA and USA to steal the nations wealth and material unfortunately with the help of satellite countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar and UAE

Hi there...... A Syrian civil engineer born in 1989 here..... Living in Syria as a matter of choice so I've seen what this conflict had to bring through bad and and worse.....
Never served conscription duty due to me being diabetic so I have no blood on my hands:
First let's go for Syria in the year 2010 for a point of reference:
-Syria never recognized the occupation of Palestin as a state: this is very important as it is the main reason for the government popularity here in Syria and in the whole region.... You can say whatever you like about the government on the way of conducting things.... But never forget that it's the only nation that never had an official person shaking hands with a fundamental extremest Zionist...... This alone is sufficient for the head of state not only to be proud of but to win elections by vast majority as he actually did.
-Syria was one of the only countries on the face of the Earth that is self-sufficient..... We had the cheapest bread on the whole planet!
-Sriya was one of the of the most secure places, personal security was never a concern for the average Syrian.
-Many people brush away this fact but Syria was the cultural haven of the Arab/Islamic world.... We had 0 illiteracy ratio, most cultural centers per Capita in the Arab and Islamic world and we counted for more than 70% of the Arabic speaking literature, cinema, TV, music composition and theatrical production.
-We had one of the best health care systems in the world.
-We singlehandedly solved 2 of the most complex refugees crises (2003 invasion of Iraq and 2006 invasion of Lebanon) I still remember my closet empty in both cases as our family gave away literally every thing to the vulnerable people fleeing the war.
Those are not political views.... Those are facts.... I'm not sure if you get my point but the best case scenario for us Syrians is to go back exactly to 2010.... Exactly the way things were....

I lived in middle east in 2010. Syrian economy was improved a lot. We saw many factories built , many new businesses built that challenged older businesses around the middle east. Everyone in middle east felt threatened from them. It was the most successful time for Syria. The most successful business I came to note that progressed in Syria were fabric and construction. Others I don't know of as I was involved in these alone.

@@thekandarichronicles My argument is as follows: individual liberty is nothing but a delusion if the country itself is under occupation, here in Syria we have both the Golan Heights and Iskenderun District under occupation since the second world war. So arguing about that the government ruled with an iron fist is somewhat strange. I've yet to come across a single liberal nation with a free press and election in the whole region. How come that the Syrian government is the only one singled out as ruled by "iron fist". I don't want to argue that what you described as a dictator has actually a wide support base. But even if he didn't for the sake of argument, is it that bad? Is being a kingdom better? We've been hearing about a solution for the Syrian problem from countries like Turkey that has a record high journalist in jails, Qatar which never had election and the apartheid and it's backers where's the logic in that?. Furthermore we don't see the kingdoms and principalities get the same description of our government, is it because they are in bed with the occupation and the West?
Let's now see what was the strategic goals publicly stated by the Syrian government in the decade before the conflict started up until it began:
-end the occupation of Iraq (work in progress)
-build up a strong resistance front in Lebanon and Palestine (succeeded)
-build a good neighboring relationship with Turkey and Jordan (succeeded)
      -start a financial boom (succeeded)
-end the military existence in Lebanon (succeeded)
      -end the foreign debt (succeeded)
-librate the Golan Heights (work in progress)
      -librate Iskenderun District (postponed)
Now let's see what changed when the conflict started:
      -survive (succeeded against all odds)
-end the occupation in Iraq (succeeded)
-build a good neighboring relationship with Turkey and Jordan (field)
-make the resistance in Lebanon and Palestine a standalone factions (succeeded against all odds)
-stabilize the financial status (failed/work in progress)
-librate the Golan Heights (work in progress)
-librate Iskenderun District (work in progress)
I'm not sure what kind of metric you used to determine that the government (it's not a regime by the way) is incumbent? Considering that it being the only one national government in the whole world that declared it's intention to actively work to kick out the occupation from Iraq publicly in a unipolar period and succeeded in doing so? Is it that it stopped the overwhelming advance of Islamic Brotherhood's that over took Tunisia, Egypt and Libya against all odds?
For a fact: we Syrians measure success by simply seeing what the occupation in Palestine is suffering: seeing that in our worst state we managed to bring down the only recoded fighter jet loss since 1982 back in 10th of February 2018? Incumbent is the last word that comes to our minds.

From day 1 the possibilities were obvious, at best case scenario, Al-Assad would remain in power, least of evils in terms of his government's effect on Syria, compared to the endless civil war between the remaining factions, or permanently splitting Syria into multiple conflicting states, multiple of which will necessarily be hostile to the remaining neighbouring countries too.
I am a recent follower of your channel, I have deep respect for you for the content you provide, the topics, research and professionalism, but in this particular case I think you have neglected to mention a very important "foreign" influence in the Syrian conflict, that of the Arab Gulf, from someone with your direct honest criticism that resonates with that of most of Arabs, I wish you'd also be (constructively) critical of the Arab Gulf where needed.
It's too late for this video, but I would appreciate to know your opinion regarding this, the Gulf's role in Syria.

      @thekandarichronicles  5 месяцев назад

Thank you Nekrovski. For your great commentary and sharing and for your kind words for this channel .
I agree with your assessment fully concerning AlAssad being the lesser of all evils.
On the role of the Gulf Arabs, it's not a matter of omitting, my criticism was aimed at all Arabs, lumped into one, who didn't want to get involved because it suited their own agendas, regardless of the vast number of casualties and refugees. Gulf nations from a political perspective enjoy the fact that Iran and Hezbollah are entrenched with Syria's chaos. Hence their silence and withdrawal from the scene. The Middle East has become a selfish world where no collective conscious exists, not from a language, ethnicity, faith or humanity perspective.

As a syrian im going to have to disagree with some things you said. There was good opposition groups and plenty of people who have stepped up tremendously and the people supported the revolution, but sadly they are either dead or a refugee somewhere. The regime fuelled sectarianism and created an environment where extremists thrive (through its sheer repression) and that helped it smear the fsa coalition. I and the majority of sunni syrians will stand against the regime. If you look at the statistics of civillian deaths by group, the regime is by far the majority attributable
Also I know that the people still in syria are tired to the bitter end and that submission is the only path forward but refugees will never return, there will still be instability and sectarianism I cant imagine how syrians can move forward.

The syrian crisis is the crisis that i am interested most by, and have been studying for the past 8 years or since i had been conscious of the state of the Arab world.
Ultimately the Syrian revolution was necessary, as in that case dictatorship had no benefit to added stability in a broken nation or prosperity, the country hasn't seen stability or relative freedom since his father came to power in 1971, who is equally as genocidal as his son, who has murdered up to 60 thousand people in the massacre of Hama.
Based on my knowledge and real life accounts of people that lived under Assad's rule and through the revolution, it started as a very "elegant" and non violent movement, but was faced with murder and ethnic cleansing. Which can be attributed to the way the syrian society was structured, similarly to Lebanon, each ethnicity and religion was relatively assigned certain "determinations". In syria the Alawites or nusayrits accounted for the bulk of military and government, which made it easier for them to dehumanize the opposition which was mostly sunni arabs and kurds, this can be seen a lot in the syrian revolution archive in hundreds of heart chattering videos, this is mostly for the fact that the military was an ethno/religious one, that thought or knew that the end of Bachar might mean their whole people will be outed or even genocided or kicked out, which they used to justify brutality against civilians.
Another factor of the failing of the opposition is their lack of coordination and ambition, the opposition still have no actual government with functioning establishments, in addition to their own fair share of violations against their own civilians, all though marginal when compared to Bachar's regime.
Regardless, the syrian government and military has to be one of the least competent, up there with the myanmar Junta. The opposition nearly ended the rule of Bachar had it not been for russia, as when Iran itself intervened early on faced serious casualties and failed to reach any objectives.
Another factor is foreign intervention and the strict rules of favors of funding, which even forced certain oppositions factions to fight each other effectively becoming a proxy war for foreign countries.
This leads to a certain trend that is quite disappointing to me at least, which is the rise of pro Iran and its proxy militia supporters across the arab world, truly people have the memory of a fly, where they are praising hezbollah for attacking Israel all though on a limited level, and Iran for funding these militias, while forgetting that these same militias and their subgroups including Shabeeha murdered tens of thousands and even hundreds of thousands people in syria and Iraq.
I wanted to also mention that alawia became its own religion, as it differs greatly from shii'sm, which is acknowledged by Shia clerics and Alawits as well, so making that distinction might be worth mentioning.
Great and insightful video as always.

As a syrian this is spot on although I believe the lack of fierce opposition is a question I still think about to this day.
I believe its due to a lack of support from western and sunni nations. From my view I believe that it was just bad timing mixed with bad geopolitcal positioning. The americans didnt want to get involved in the war since they just came out of iraq. Sunni nations didnt want the revolution to succeed because it wouldve set a precedent in their country and a whole load of other stuff that I can write a paper on.

It is a the crisis that has multiple layers of interests playing against each other to gain the upper hand and in the end no one come out on top except Bashar Al Asad, who is a necessary stablizer.
Turkey - played a devastating role in the syriaan crisis, objective to dominate syria and make it a colony - international fighters and arm were smuggled into syria from the turkesh border. supported al nusra in the north with arms adn proabably also had a hand in the chemical warfare. arms from lybia were trnaspoerted into syria throuhg turkey, all sorts of supplies were providied to the insurgents to make explosives. Before thier falling out, As Asad and Erdogan were close friends, and often Erdogan would go on holiday to Syria and spend time with Asad on the medditerania coast.
Qatar - perhaps the most dubious role, acted as an agent of usa, objective to bring down the syrian regime- supported the al nusra and i$i$ funding them, built up the international campaing "asad must go" through its mouthpeice Al Jazeera and supported the "jihad" ideologiaclly but getting the mullahs to issue fatwa to rebel against the syrian state and anyone affiliated with it throuhg the natorious MB sheikh Yusuf Al Qardawi. Before their falling out becasue of the gas pipeline veto from asad, the emir of qutar and asad were good friends.
KSA - When Qatar failed to bring down the regime, the old emir was asked to step down by Obama and his son was made the new emir. The "Syrian file" was handed over to KSA and Bandar Bush was brought in to demolish Syria. i$i$ was thier top channel to achieve this but they failed miserabyl. Bandar bush wanted to raise $2 trillion for this project "Syria regime change" and at one point Asad was also offered a handsome amout to step down and run away.
Russia - Syria was an old ally of russia and maintained thier loyalty to russia. the pipeline usa was planning from qatar to eu was in direct conflict with the nordstraeam pipleline. Thats why russia got involved. I dont think usa or its arab agents calculated that russia would get involoved when they launched this project.
Iran - I think their role is overstated in this conflict. they only came into the picture because al asad was isolated and his former friends/allies became sworn enimies.
Sectarian Divide - Even though the top brass of the syrian state is alawi dominated, it does not mean that Syria is a sectarian state. Sunnis have a major role in the state and its functioning and they dominate the economy. Al Asad and his father Hafez come from an Alawi background but both converted to Sunni at the hand of Sheikh Ramadan Al Bouti the most reputed scholar of Syris who was killed by i$i$. My hypothesis is that when the Arabs, tuerks and US could not remove al asad Shia/sunni divide was the last card up their sleave but in the end that failed as well. Even today Syria is Majority Sunni including the army.
I have much more to say on this topic but I think this is enough for now. Just wanted to point out the detailes you missed/omited.
I am not a Syurian, but I have lived in Turkeuy and seen the condition of Syrian in that country. There is nothing but love in my heart for the Syrian people and I pray that they are able to recover from this crisis and love in a strong and prosperous Syria once again Inshallah.

Hello @shoabriz. Thank you for your fantastic sharing with your commentary. I dont disagree as to the comprehensiveness of the video. But you should recognise its intent. It is meant to bring together the complexities of the situation for those that are confused by either its misrepresentation or by media's selective narrative. It also attempts to highlight that the most important is the people themselves who are the victims and who need a nation that has some semblance of peace and security so that they might begin to live again.
The information you share is part of this channel's success. Your sharing will be read by others who want to know more and reach perspectives they couldn't through conventional means. So I appreciate your time and effort in shedding light on the topic.

Civil war in its absolute basic is of one people fighting each other. Even in civil wars there are foreign players that are in both the fore and background. And the Syrian conflict did go through a long stage when it was countryman against countryman.

While most of this video is good. There are 2 things here that are false:
    1. Al-Nusra is more aligned with the Syrian rebels, not ISIS. And they changed their name to Hay-at Tahrir Al Sham.
    2. Rojava are the one side that is actually good, while it is Kurdish dominated, they’re not Kurdish supremacists, unlike the other 3 sides they’re a democracy where all races and religions are given equal rights, and also unlike the other 3, they don’t do genocide or ethnic cleansing, I’m not saying they’re perfect, but they’re definitely the least bad of all 4 sides in comparison.

      Thank you for your clarifications.
I'm not sure how you concluded point one, AlNusra was referred to an affiliation with AlQaeda and not ISIS.
As for the second point, I understand your thought and agree but at the same time, it's not about everyone committing genocide but where fighting led to unnecessary victims and devastation onto all sides.
Thank you though for your clarifications, they are very informative.

And Rojava being the best side is not just because they don’t commit genocide, their overall conduct is by far the best of the 4 sides. @kamals_ 5 месяцев назад +1

First of all, the video forgot Iran and it’s regional proxies all together. Second, what happened in Syria is not a civil war. It’s a fully fledged genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Sunni majority population. The Sunnies were the only ones ethnically cleansed from their cities and villages. They were the only ones targeted with chemical weapons and carpet bombed with explosive barrels in densely civilian populated areas to maximise civilian deaths. They were the only ones systematically tortured and killed in the regime’s prisons on a staggering scale. They were the only ones put under siege and starved to death. More than 10 millions Sunni Syrians had to flee the country with no hope of returning. No words can describe the horrors they’ve had to go through 💔💔
And just to be clear, all Syrians have suffered and still suffering from the barbaric Assad’s sectarian regime, but the Sunnies were the ones targeted with the intentions of genocide and ethnic cleansing to change the country’s demographics. Justice for Syrians starts by telling the full story and calling the actions committed by the regime and its allies - the Russians and Iranians - for what they are.

    • @thekandarichronicles

I note and acknowledge your pain Kamal. Yes the Syrian regime has committed atrocities, that is undeniable. But there are many beyond the regime that have done unethical violent acts who are also Syrian but in the name of another agenda. Maybe not at the same level of genocide thats for sure but still in the category of crimes against other humans.
The question is what is to be done with the status of a nation in limbo.
