It is used in the Book of Isaiah 11:12 for the scattered people of Judah. 2000 years ago Greek translated naphats נָפַץ to diaspora.

The star of David was used in synagogues much before its use by Islam, and this can be seen from numerous archeological evidence in the land of Israel. while the symbol didn't serve a purpose in representing the Jewish people till 12 century, its first use by Jews was in Czeck republic, where Jews were first allowed to wave a flag - no connection to Islam what so ever.
