    I have a sublimation printer and make labels that way. I have 40+ years of graphics experience and design my labels in the Adobe suite of applications. The down side to sublimation is it works best on 100% poly. The up side is it will never fade, even with pure bleach on it. And shirting weight poly makes a great label. You can use a powder on your sublimation print out that will allow it to be put on cotton, but it feels kinda sticky like a t-shirt transfer. Love those pins! I got the number pins from, I think, "Marilee" and use them. God bless.

    • @sisterchicksquilting

      Yes, sublimation printers are the best for labels. We're looking into an Epson tankless style with sublimation ink.

    The pins are such a fantastic idea. I live in a ridiculously remote area. 3.4 hours one way, nothing in between to the nearest small Walmart, fast food joint (and not even the good one). If you could or thought about including links to Amazon that would be over the moon helpful. Also, if you had links to fabric sources, that would be magnificent. My favorite is Halloween 🎃 too. Recently found you and am addicted! Thank You 😊

      Sorry about your addiction, NOT! LOL :) I bought the alpha beads and earing backs at Michaels craft store and I bet Amazon has them too. Did you google either of those sources? I bet they would show up. My favorite online fabric source is Hancocks of Paducha, they have everything and great sales too.

Very much appreciated! Thank you so much. 🤩😊🤩

      Amazon does have the alphabet beads - about 12 for each numeral all packed in individual small plastic boxes which are then out into one larger box. They do come with the stuff people use for making bracelets but the price right - now here in April 2024 is a little under $7!

    • @sandybruce9092
      @sandybruce9092 6 месяцев назад

    Hi. Just found you! Enjoyed your video and loved your hallowe’en quilt! Your label was great and unique!! I am new at quilting, but my labels get put in the corner, triangular shape, and I just use the font on my machine. One baby quilt, I labeled with “Sugar and Spice and everything nice”…yup for a girl. Also when I bind my quilt, I stitch it on the back, bring it forward to the front, folding it just over the stitching line, stitch close to the edge (use matching thread in my bobbin to the back) and stitch. Not in the ditch, and I find I get a more satisfying result. Love the pin idea too!

    • @sisterchicksquilting
      @sisterchicksquilting  2 года назад

      I think you're talking about the other earring back. right? I used a little earring back that was smaller and the hole was smaller, thus keeping the apha bead sunggly on the pin. It was round and the outside was zigged like a cog with a wheel. It was more of a pain to see the tiny hole but it was a tighter fit and there was no need to use the cray glue.

      There are several brands, Maryellen’s Best Press and Flatter are two. If you’re not going to stream your seams, Quilt spray is an alternative which makes your pieces lay flat.

    Your label is adorable. I as well struggle with labels. I am making quilts this year that need labels. Dreading this. And I have an embroidery machine. I need to find a print/pattern I like enough to make it into a label. I don’t have that side of creativity. I can make patterns I see. That’s it. Can’t go outside the box.

    Hi Di. My quilt labels start with a 5x5 square.I rinse it out to remove sizing. Iron it dry. I use the ink jet printer to type out what I want label to say. All my quilts get named/titled,maker,any notes,and date. I than use purple school glue onto the paper,outer edges only, place the fabric square on it pressing firmly,place in printer and hit print. Heat set with iron. I would love to see how you got Frank on yours!

    • @sisterchicksquilting
      @sisterchicksquilting  2 года назад +2

      Purple school glue? In a glue stick? That’s a great idea 💡! I designed him using Canva a free online design software. It’s pretty easy to learn. Then put the fabric backed with freezer paper in the print tray and hit print. I do pull the freezer paper off and iron to set the ink. I think I’ll make a Tuesday video about the process. Thanks for watching then commenting😊‼️

    I'm new to your channell and I love it. You asked about labels unfortunately I have to buy mine as I don't have a computer or ink jet printer (probably wouldn't know what to do with them if I had )I only have a domestic machine (not embroidery), I love quilting so would love to know how I could make labels instead of buying them, (they are getting expensive) plus I have to wait a long time for delivery as live in Ireland

    Hi Di, I just started making that It’s sew Emma quilt and the 5-1/2 inch pumpkin blocks came out a little too small. I almost threw them in the trash. 😂 I may just end up making a pillow or table runner. 🧡🎃🍂🧙🏼‍♀️👻

    • @sisterchicksquilting
      @sisterchicksquilting  2 года назад

      I had that problem on a few of my blocks as well Marsha. I went back and re-sewed one of them and I used a scant quarter inch seam on all the pieces. It made a difference. I do use them in a pillow. Or you can send them to me, because I still need to make a Halloween pillowcase for my 22 inch feather pillow.😂🤣😂🎃‼️
