Love, love the quilt. I am one of them that absolutely hates to cut out, hate to try and back but don't mind binding. Had a Juki, wasn't looking to buy but buy i did. I bought a Janome memory craft. I absolutely love, love it. Still hate to cut but enjoy sewing once again.
Thanks for telling us about the pre-cut quilt kits. Good thing to know since I am having issues with my wrists, about 10 years ago I smashed both of them and with working in an office for 40 years my wrists/hands hurt all the time. It is a truly beautiful quilt. I haven't made the no waste flying geese yet, but sure going to give it a try. Thank you for doing your tutorials, so enjoy them. Have a wonderful weekend!

Such a funny story, “fart away”! 🤣😂 I love precut quilt kits, I don’t mind cutting fabric. It’s the machine quilting that I struggle with. I really enjoy watching your videos, learn something new every time. I used to live in Bountiful, UT. I have a lot of family in ID, went to college in Rexburg, ID. That flying geese method is known as the "No Waste Flying Geese Method." It's very popular just because of the no waste. Welcome into the wide world of quilting Liz, it's a fast train, hang on! 😆😂😍 Thanks for watching my channel!
Yes, I've seen a couple of these. I'm 59 and for the first time I'm feeling the beginnings (I think) of arthritis- anyway my joints ache- specifically my elbows. It's nice to know there are options like this out there. Lovely fabric, and a beautiful pattern! 🤩
Lovely quilt! I am so surprised the task was cutting though - surely it’s binding, ironing, or basting? Great idea for those who dont like cutting. I like to make my own quilt kits with my Accuquilt cutter. All of the triangles for HST's and flying geese are precut. I lay out and stack up the blocks on a design board and start chain piecing.

How did I not know about this company and pre-cut kits? I can not thank you enough for this link and coupon (yay) because this is a huge time saver for weekend sewing when I am starting to work on my Christmas gifts list. I immediately went to the site and found several fabulous kits and precut fabrics to get my Christmas gift marathon started. I always start in August and my weekends get jam packed with projects so it is an enormous time saver (wrist too) if I can just sew and go and knock out a quilt top in one day. I am loving the offerings on the site and bookmarked it for future orders to save time by getting precut quilt kits. Huge thank you for introducing this fantastic product into my quilting world. I love it!! And that spinning/rotating cutting mat is awesome too! Great video with lots of good ideas and information. Thank you again.
I have the truline comfort grip rotary cutter. It is ergonomic and amazing. Ps.... this whole video was a squirrel hunt... well spotted engineer. I have been busy preparing (shopping!) For daughter's wedding ❤❤ Three weeks to go! Love this quilt. Gorgeous design. Hugs, Chel 🌸
I must put on my bucket list to come to your retreat sometime! I think you and Tracy would be a blast to be around! And together! I'm pretty sure the laughter would be a pretty good an workout 😉
Have you been able to visit Sew Yeah Quiling in Las Vegas? It's a great shop and quite large. They just bought Scrap apple Quilting in St George, UT. They also have a shop in Alaska. Family owned. Very nice people. If you make it to Vegas sometime reach out and we can go shopping and do lunch. I'd love to meet you.
As usual I enjoyed watching your video and love your stories. As I was watching, I thought about my grandmother and mother-in-law. I think they would roll over in their graves to learn that there are now pre-cut quilt kits. They both made beautiful quilts the "old fashion" way. Thanks Di.
I enjoy cutting the pieces. I enjoy doing all the crafting of a quilt. If I got the pieces pre cut & paid to get the quilting done then it would not really be my work. I extended the height of my cutting table so it’s more comfortable to cut out on.
Di that quilt turned out beautifully. I was so glad to see your video pop up in my feed. I have been wondering if u took some time off. The alligator panel made me laugh out loud. There is something for everyone LOL. Her finished quilt looked great!
Hi Di, I just have to tell you, I watched one of your videos and you were doing binding and gave us the tip about at the corners leave a little extra on the top after you fold, hopefully that is making sense. Wonderful tip! Makes the corners perfect, minus my machine stitching, 😅 thank you! Hope ok to put on this video.
I’m glad you like my binding hack Debbie. I absolutely love it, isn’t it just the best ever? My corners look so good now. Thanks for watching. I was glad to share it with you.😊🌺🐥Di
I guess I am an oddball because I actually love cutting out quilts! I don't particularly enjoy squaring up blocks, but cutting fabric is really fun to me:)
I listen to music or watch Netflix when I have a bunch of squaring up to do, I have to keep my mind off it. Thanks for watching my channel Michelle.😊🌺🐥
I enjoy cutting the fabric I enjoy picking the fabric there’s only 2 annoying things in quilting I don’t enjoy and that is ironing the binding before attaching it and the other thing is meeting/sewing the two pieces of binding together lol Great video DI ❤your quilt
I don't mind cutting material I hate to put binding on. The only problem I find with pre-cut kits is the fact that if you accidentally so wrong pieces together or something like that you don't have
My Fabric Addiction has a woops policy and will send you, free of charge, the pieces you need to finish your quilt. Amazing😃❣️ thanks for watching my channel 😊🌺🐥
Just a heads up- Alexander Henry fabric, which is the maker of the Ghastlies fabric line, has shut down. It was a family operation and the man that started it passed away and his family is not continuing the operation. Also, I was in Utah in July and I discovered Corn Wagon Quilts and I loved it! A wonderful shop!
I knew the about Alexander Henry Fabrics and I'm sad about it, however, I have my little piece of my favorite line he ever printed. Yes!! Corn Wagon Quilts, It's def one of my faves in Utah. I love all of thier Art Gallery Fabrics upstairs, yummmmm! Thanks for watching my channel Valerie 👍😍🐥
Love the use of acronyms This one reminded me of the one in nursing school for a drug order:DD FART (drug, dosage, form, amount, route, and time) Never failed to get the looks when reminding others of this.
The complaints I hear most often from quilters are about basting and binding, not cutting, at least among people who don’t have mobility limitations. The cutting people complain about most is squaring up blocks and units after they have been sewn. I enjoy cutting, and most aspects of quilting. Basting is my nemesis, so I have many of my bigger quilts longarmed. That said, precut kits are an option for those who couldn’t otherwise quilt or for those who do hate the process. I am not willing to pay the upcharge though. I don’t even buy precuts except FQs anymore.
I can even hear his laugh when I look at it. I’m sad that the Ghastliness are leaving the quilting world. Glad I have a piece of them. Thanks for watching👍🏼😊🌺🐥
Cutting used to be my LEAST favorite part of the quilting process. Now starching is my least favorite part. While I like working with starched fabric, I really, really dislike the process. I know there are people who love the cutting. Kimberly Jolly, for instance, loves the cutting process. These precut kits look like a winner! My most recent quilt (it’s at the quilter’s!!!! Yay!!!) was a BOM set up for eight months. The pieces were mostly smaller so a bit less cutting. But tricky when you’re nervous about running out of fabric and making mistakes. However, my quilter said it was the prettiest thing I’ve ever done. Quilting is the most creative and enriching process!
The preacher quilts are wonderful, you’re correct Beverly. And let me add. I believe quilters are incredibly creative and smart people. It’s amazing to see what they come up with. Thanks for watching my channel.😊🌺🐥🐥
April is right. Spit works. However, there is another solution. Mix hydrogen with water. (I use about one to one ratio). My son has a health issue that causes him to bleed all over his clothes and bedding. I also add a few drops of Dawn dish soap but I'm not sure it is necessary for small amounts.
I've bought 3 kits in 30 yrs. 2 were not cut correctly. In the other the pattern had been changed by the quilt shop with very crappy instructions for their change, so I had to do some quilt math. I'll never buy another precut kit.
Wow, I’m so sorry for your experience Leanne this one was perfect. And with their whoops policy, it was pretty much no fail for me. Thank you for watching my channel. I appreciate it and remember, quilt on.👍🏼😊😊🌺🐥
I enjoy cutting must have an oddball quilting gene! Precut kits wouldn’t work for me because I look at patterns as a suggestion and then change them up to make it my own.
Apparently I'm an odd duck... I love cutting out my quilt pieces. It's like introducing me to the fabric.... But there's nothing I hate about the quilting process.
Sister! I worked in a hospital and we always used hydrogen peroxide to wash out blood. It works every time even with our open-heart surgery patients who got blood on their huggy bears.❤❤❤
I’m finding out from all the comments and all the nurses Rose that hydrogen peroxide is a great blood remover now I know. However, I was not gonna spit on it, that’s just too gross.TFW Rose❣️👍🏼😊🌺🐥
Wilma, if you look in the description below my video. You will see a link for My Fabric addiction. She sells the kit. I’d you use the link that takes 30% off the price. Thanks for watching 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I don't mind cutting out quilts. I do know a few quilters who have trouble with cutting, this is a great idea for them. I will pass on the information.
We are staying in a lot these days. The Paddock fire is way close and the smoke is awful. It’s crazy that August is “fire season” 🔥😳🔥 Thanks for caring😊🌺🐥
Lol I don't mind cutting at all. But I HATE basting and quilting. Mainly because I don't have a longarm. If I had a longarm I wouldn't hate it so much. LOVE doing the binding. I know....I've been told by other quilters that I'm "weird". I've offered to bind other quilters quilts if they'd do the basting and quilting on mine. LOL
I love binding also Kate, you’re not weird at all. And now with my new binding hack from my last video, I love binding even more than ever. Thanks for watching my videos. I appreciate it.😊🌺🐥

great tutorial Di thank you lovely pre-cut bundle x thank you for sharing with usx
Thank you very much Amanda and thanks for watching my channel😊🌺🐥
O m g. Love the Ghastlis. They kind of look like punk rock. So cute
Yes, The Ghastlier are such a wonderful fabric line. TFW😊🌺🐥
Great video!! I think the prices at Fabic Addiction are great.
Thanks Linda, I’ll give Kim your feedback. Thank you for watching my channel😊🌺🐥
Ooooo, a wedding👰♀️🤵🏻😍 After Michelle’s wedding my sons said, no I🙃more!😳😂🤣😂 I hope it all goes well with out a hitch 👍🏼 TFW😊👍🏼🌺♥️🐥
@@rebeccasorensen7925 Deal Rebecca. I’ve been to Scrap Apple, born & raised in St George 👍🏼😊🌺🐥TFW
@sisterchicksquilting awesome! My dad was from St George and my mom from Hurricane. Small world.
If my Mother and Aunt was alive. I sure would gift them a pre-cut quilt kit. Would have been a Blessing ❤
Ii can see where they would make a lovley gift for the right person. Thanks for watching my channel Brenda.😍👍🐥
As usual I enjoyed watching your video and love your stories. As I was watching, I thought about my grandmother and mother-in-law. I think they would roll over in their graves to learn that there are now pre-cut quilt kits. They both made beautiful quilts the "old fashion" way. Thanks Di.
Did they use cereal boxes to make the templates with? I remember that as a child?😊 think have changed bit April. TFW😊🌺🐥
Great advice. Love watching your video's. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Are you my old neighbor? If so it’s time we went out to lunch again. If not sorry for the mixup, but thanks either way for watching my channel😊🌺🐥
@@sisterchicksquilting I wish I was, but no. I live in the UK. 🥰
Great video!! Loved the F.A.R.T. story!! LOL
Glad you did, I was so hoping not to offend anybody. I may have some "church ladies" in my audience that are unsubscribing right now? 😳😂😅😂🙂😳
My grandson loves reptiles, and would love a crocodile Quilt. If I ever see A panel I’m sure going to buy it.😊
I enjoy cutting the pieces. I enjoy doing all the crafting of a quilt. If I got the pieces pre cut & paid to get the quilting done then it would not really be my work.
I extended the height of my cutting table so it’s more comfortable to cut out on.
I just extended the height of my cutting table too, you’ll see on 8/23. TFW.😊🌺🐥
Di that quilt turned out beautifully. I was so glad to see your video pop up in my feed. I have been wondering if u took some time off. The alligator panel made me laugh out loud. There is something for everyone LOL. Her finished quilt looked great!
Hopefully, I’m back in the saddle full time. I did take some time off and enjoyed the break 😀 Thanks for being here for me Kelly, I appreciate it👍🏼😊🌺🐥
Hi Di, I just have to tell you, I watched one of your videos and you were doing binding and gave us the tip about at the corners leave a little extra on the top after you fold, hopefully that is making sense.
I love the Ghastlies!!
Yes, so much to live there 👍🏼😊TFW😊🌺🐥
Ohhhh I love that patchy star quilt. Could you tell me please what the name of the pattern is?
There’s a link to it in the description below the video. That link will take you to their website and it tells all about that quilt.
@@sisterchicksquiltingI've totally misst that in your describtion 😅 thank you very much
Greetings from Germany
Call me crazy, but I love cutting! I even love cutting my scraps into the sizes I like to save. My least favorite part is making the backing.
Hey Crazy! LOL, we each have our least fave don't we?!? Thanks for watching my channel. 👍😍🐥
I guess I am an oddball because I actually love cutting out quilts! I don't particularly enjoy squaring up blocks, but cutting fabric is really fun to me:)
@@MichelleFrazier-ze3xu this is me!!!
Awesome❣️ there’s a bunch of you out there who don’t mind cutting 👍🏼😊🐥
I listen to music or watch Netflix when I have a bunch of squaring up to do, I have to keep my mind off it. Thanks for watching my channel Michelle.😊🌺🐥
I enjoy cutting the fabric I enjoy picking the fabric there’s only 2 annoying things in quilting I don’t enjoy and that is ironing the binding before attaching it and the other thing is meeting/sewing the two pieces of binding together lol Great video DI ❤your quilt
We all have our thing right Karen? thank you for sharing and always. Thank you for watching my video. I appreciate you.😊🌺🐥
Love this quilt. Great job and inside tips for it too. 🤗🤗
Thank you Miss Debbie! 😊 It's a purdy one, I agree!👍😍👍
Di if you ever make it to South Dakota I have some good shops we can go to but it is a lot of driving
That sounds fun, I have a quilty friend who goes there all the time. TFW!
Thanks for sharing.
And thanks for watching Donna😊🌺🐥
Love the use of acronyms This one reminded me of the one in nursing school for a drug order:DD FART (drug, dosage, form, amount, route, and time) Never failed to get the looks when reminding others of this.
That’s a great acronym Cheryl 🤣 Glad you liked the one I shared. Thanks for watching 😊🌺🐥
Yep, I like to watch my budget as well. Thank you for watching Michelle👍🏼😊🌺🐥
Thank you❤
You bet guess who Nancy👍🏼😊🌺🐥
I enjoy cutting. I don't enjoy pressing- especially hst's lol
I love to press now with my new Laurastar. TFW😊🌺🐥
What a fabulous piece of fabric really does look like Snidley whiplash
Cold water takes out fresh blood too. Never heard of the spit trick. 🤔
I’m learning so many ways how to take blood out of fabric, and not spit on it. Thanks for letting me know.👍🏼😊🌺🐥
Any relation to Taffy and Rick?
April is right. Spit works. However, there is another solution. Mix hydrogen with water. (I use about one to one ratio). My son has a health issue that causes him to bleed all over his clothes and bedding. I also add a few drops of Dawn dish soap but I'm not sure it is necessary for small amounts.
I like the hydrogen peroxide method better, spitting just grosses me out. Thanks for your input, Darlene. I appreciate it and TFW😊👍🏼🌺🐥
Well, the good news is you have quilting genes👍🏼🤣😂 thanks for watching Jean.
Hi di
I enjoy your channel
Thank you very much knitting Nana. I appreciate that you watch.😊🌺🐥
The engineer is makinfg fun of you again...😊...you slickster
You should hear him laugh at himself and his jokes when he’s editing and putting those comments in. It’s pretty funny.🤣😊😀🌺🐥
Love ya❤❤❤❤
Awwwe, thank you Sara🤗TFW😊🌺🐥
Apparently I'm an odd duck... I love cutting out my quilt pieces. It's like introducing me to the fabric.... But there's nothing I hate about the quilting process.
I’m with you, I love it all. TFW😊♥️🐥
Peroxide will take the blood out of white or colored fabric and not bleach out the color.
I found this out from all the comments. Thanks for letting me know TFW😊🌺🐥
How much is the pre-cut kit that is behind you? I would like to know so I could buy it. My name is Wilma Carter.
Thanks for watching 👍🏼😊♥️😊
As the saying goes, If you have ugly fabric, you haven't cut it up small enough yet.❤
And you are totally correct! Thanks for watching my channel😊🌺🐥
I hope you and your spouse are doing well with all the fire smoke in your area. Audi C
I appreciate it.😊🌺🐥
Is this your new sewing room?
It’s my same one and I’m carefully aiming the camera so the new cabinets won’t show until my video comes out on 8/22 or 8/23. Thanks for watching 👍🏼😊🌺🐥
