If you go through the headache of porting the header welds keep in mind the doughnut at the collector is likely NOT a full 2.5". Many times they neck down a bit between 2 to 2.25". This needs widened as well to get the full benefits.
Yeah and there really isn’t comparable to proper long tubes. If the engine is na and less than 6 liters the 1 and 5/8 would be fine… out of the box long tubes beat these no matter how much work you put into them by a decent margin and it’s through a broad portion of the rpm sweep. You can’t always run LT’s though so I like the video and if I had shortys I would do the same.
@Jason Shenk that’s correct it depends on hp and you just won’t make the number that needs 1 7/8 unless you build a big cube small block. You can put 1 5/8 LT on a 302 all the way up to like 600hp and they are actually better than 1 7/8. Are you one of these guys who thinks he’s already making 300hp with your e7te’s? I guess any l4 will probably be fine with 1 header it’s not really my thing anymore. But if you have a j series then you have 2 headers and yes I would LT because a shorty is a complete waste of time on that configuration. I don’t build only Hondas. I build anything…
Really excited to see this motor come together and to see how the gray girl performs with 4:10 gears, and a nice Auto trans, plus great torque converter, this girl is going to be awesome. Can't wait for this build.
Excited to see how those Canfield heads perform, I recently picked up a set of unused 20-450-54-1 heads with Harland Sharp rockers, complete, and dirt cheap, that will go on my 347. (Canfield, Ohio is right up the road from me). Its awesome how fast that car is coming along, it's really motivated me to get mine done! So, thank you!

Tell you what, its not looking good on parts availability. Not only performance stuff, but also repair stuff. I have been spending a lot of time at the junkyard, stacking up on parts for my main vehicles. Alternators, sensors, starters lights... you name it. They can’t outright bann out gas cars, but they sure can cut off our repair parts supply, and imo it’s happening. The fab shop has been really busy with stuff you could get cheap from china, but not available now. Good for me, but not the “industry” in general.
@@tuloko16 Yep…. Junkyard AKA Scavenger Hunts at U-pull-it could very well be a thing of the future. IMO it wouldn’t be a bad thing the stock up on parts that frequently go bad on 🦊 Mustangs.
I have afr 195cc heads and I bought flow tech headers with 1 7/8 primaries and cut the mating flange off and bought the 3 inch bolt spacing flange and welded it on
Another important measurememt is radial clearance on the valve pockets in the piston. With y303 1.94 heads milled to 60cc chambers I had to retard cam 2 degrees. I used drop valve to get clearances. My cam was similar to stage 1 cam you are running. Good stuff man.
The parts situation is definitely getting crazy. It seems like every year when spring comes around.... parts get out of stock likely because we all get that itch to have our cars in tip top shape. But everything going on in our 🌎 & lack of people working, along with logistics being backed up is making everything significantly worse. Hopefully it's just temporary. I had a feeling parts were gonna get harder to get... I jumped the gun back in February and ordered my lmr parts(through your channel link as always) to make sure I could get them. I've been able to drive my cobra to work a few times now (weather has been crap in MICHIGAN) but man does it feel good😎
Think fox parts are hard to get the getting anything to restore a 74’-78’. Lol I’m having to just make a ton of my stuff. Love the channel man keep it coming. I’d consider the 4.10’s a blessing with the AOD cars imo.
Didn't realize you were from Dothan! I'm just outside of Dothan myself. Was wondering if you knew of a good machine shop in Dothan or close by, that you would recommend for boring and line boring a block ? Thanks
I was lucky I think I got the last trick flow box R intake available anywhere. I need to change it soon so hopefully I can sell my standard r series intake.
Man my sn95 has a vacuum leak ether idk where and or I can't seal is fix or try to fix a few small ones on the intake . I'm getting so annoyed with it makes me want to switch to carb
I got an older dss 331 crate motor in my coupe. Has tfs 170 heads with the o rings, not much benefit from what ive been told unless your running high boost or nitrous.
You sure are in trouble. 4.10 gears and a converter, with higher compression? I give it one season before you mod this car 😂 Parts are definitely harder to find though. It's getting tough out there.
@@BREW2LFOXBODY yeah, I'm surprised how great the supercharger is on the street. Only gets rowdy when you mean for it to get rowdy. I'm thinking of doing nitrous on my LX just for the fun of it. Getting the new engine ready now, and already thinking power adder 🤷♂️ ⚡⚡

Canfield sell headers to fit those ports, I think they are long tubes. Nice solution.
Don't use the 0.060 gaskets. You will give up quench that will increase the chance of knock more than the slight drop in compression.

All the parts you need are here in California. Tow yards get foxbodys every week from the sideshows these kids do :)
You are correct on the parts .. I have a bunch but won't sell .. last thing I wanna do is need them and not have them .
Thanks for your tips and to get parts ahead of time.
Looking good. The combo sounds like it will be a good NA/ nitrous combo.
