I’d also like to mention when SH2 came out I was 11. I couldn’t imagine touching it, as I’ve gotten older I’ve enjoyed survival horror so getting the games have been well worth it to me. I’m not scummy so I won’t resell them at an outrageous price
It's good to know there are people out there who won't resell for an excess price, I buy games because I genuinely like and want to play them I also refuse to resell for major profits.
Silent hill 1 is the hardest puzzles, silent hill 2 has the hardest monsters, silent hill 3 is the most fun game ever, silent hill 4 is beautiful and just insane to play.
13:55 not really Sh 2&3 ps2 versions are agreeably the best way to experience these games, so that’s why these two are expensive and they have high demand. Sh4 is expensive because it didn’t sell, but I don’t think it has high demand because it has really good digital versions (gog &ps store). I think Sh1 is expensive because it’s an old game.
I’m honestly glad I got into silent hill series 3-4 years ago when all the games were fairly cheep. Got all the silent hill games for the ps2, one psp game, sh1 and all ps3 for less then $400 total. 11 games for $400 doesn’t seem so bad now that the price spike. I’m sad that I never got shattered memory for the wii and psp and book of memory and it’s unfortunate that it’s became an expensive game series.
Shattered Memories imo isnt that good really. Felt very short and lackluster that the game could've been so much more. I recommend only getting the Wii version cause it was made for that system in mind and lools the best. Book of Memories you can just ignore cause its not a real Silent Hill game. Only get it if you want every game in the series.
Huh. I never knew that Dead by Daylight was a contributing factor for why old Silent Hill game prices have gone up. Honestly, I think another reason for prices going up is because of scalpers. I don't mean that people are buying a whole bunch of games and doing this but scalping has shown to be pretty profitable as stupid and slimy as it is.
Two years later and prices havent moved much sadly. I really find it so surprising. Silent hill are great games but they certainly arent rare. At least the early games arent. So for the first and second game which both sold well over a million copies to stay so high is confusing to say the least. I suspect they will drop pretty significantly at some point but they are still just hyped up right now. And announcement of 2 remake doesnt help that.
The 1st and 2nd games fot sure sold more than a million copies since they got GH releases. It seems people who own the games nowadays don't want to get rid of them hence why they dont show up often. Like I haven't seen almost any of the games show up in my local game stores but we will see if anything changes in the next few years.
Thanks for the in-depth explanation, I only played the first SIlent Hill for PS1 when it was first out and I couldn't understand why an original disc would cost me so much money today. I would've thought it would be worth less than one dollar by now.
Retro horror games typically cost a lot once they start having price increases. They usually mean a lot of people since its an emotional experience that sticks with you so there will always be people who want them. Many older games still have very high prices cause lots of people want them again and low supply of original copies hence why they need to be re-released today.
1. just wanted to say that I love your channel 2. I appreciate this video. I've never tried out the silent hill games and was thinking about picking them up until I saw the prices!
Use to have Silent Hill, I kept my games mint, even as a teen. Sold it... yep, sold it along with Dino Crisis 1 & 2 (also going up in price) when I got a PS2. Speaking of PS2, also had SH 2 & 3. Borrowed them to a neighbor. Couple weeks later. He moved, never gave them back to me. This still pisses me off to this day and its been over 15 years now. I shouldn't have to pay ridiculous amounts of money to get them back. I do still own SH4 though.
I feel you on that. I lent my copy of Warhammer 40k space marine and their crazy religious mother lost their mind when they saw them playing, popped it out the console and then snapped the disc in half then threw it out.
Silent hill 3 was the game that got me big into horror games. I let a friend borrow it years ago and never got it back. Thankfully I bought it complete about 2 years ago at a game convention when it was still $30 so I can experience it again. I think a big reason it is expensive is also because the HD collection came out and was horrible and unfortunately the only easy way to play 2 and 3 aside from emulation
Good on you for getting it at that price. I do hope they come back close to what they use to be but that won't be for while. I'm so desperate to collect all the games in the series.

I actually never got to experience the awesomeness of any of the Silent Hill games. I’m 18 now and wanna buy the series, but it’s just so damn expensive! How can I buy the games at an affordable price??
For Silent Hill 1 get it on the PS3 digitally for $6 and if you have no other choice for SH2 and 3 then you can play the god awful HD collection on PS3 or Xbox 360. SH2 and SH4 do have O.G. Xbox versions for like $40-$50 but do have same graphical issues that the PS2 versions are better since the games were were made for the system. SH4 you can get on GOG on PC. All other entries are still locked behind their original releases so if you want to be official you have to pay up for it. But then again, just emulate some of these cause if Konami doesnt want to sell you the games then why shouldnt care about emulation on top of all other reasons why its important. Regardless I do hope you play the series and enjoy it especially SH1-4. This is a series that shouldnt be missed if you like horror games.
I'm pretty sure this series is expensive because Konami's lost the source code for the game. People who worked at Konami during that time admitted that when the HD collection was made, they had to basically build it from the ground up because of that exact reason.
I have complete copy of Silent Hill Shattered Memories for PS2. I didn’t know it was that expensive. I don’t even like it, I rather trade it for Origins. I like Origins better.
It was a 2010 PS2 release. That's 4 years after the PS3 has been out making SM a very VERY late release for the PS2 therefore not a lot of copies were printed nor sold well. I got my copy a while ago which of course wasn't fun to get lol.
@@dstreet3818 yeah it was a really difficult time for PS2 exclusive game releases after the PS3 was already out. I have always been obsessed with Silent Hill and I already owned the PSP release of Silent Hill Origins but also I beat it on the PS2. My PS2 has a modchip so I can go ahead and download the ISO online and burn it on a DVD 📀 and play it.
All the other PS1 and PS2 games on eBay and Amazon are around $80 bucks or less from 3rd party sellers so why are people being soo greedy with this one franchise or series? I know Team Silent disbanded and probably won't get back together to make a good version of the series, but still I wish these sellers weren't greedy with the games.
Loose copies around $80-$100 rn but complete copies start at least $140. The biggest problem at the end of the day is people are actually paying those prices cause the demand is there. Its not just Silent Hill going through is, look at a lot of Gamecube, PS1, and PS2 games are going through the same thing.
Or Konami should release the definition edition for PS4, Xbox one, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It’s like how Rockstar release the GTA the trilogy of GTA III, Vice City and San address definition edition. Konami can do it even tho I never played Silent Hill 2 and 3.

You may want to consider scripting these out instead of doing them extemporaneously, there’s lots of digression and cuttable anecdotes here which makes it pretty difficult to get invested into tbh
I will never understand Konami you'd think they'd put the series on playstation 4 or 5 or at least make them easy to Access so people aren't breaking the bank to own the games really dumb on your part Konami it's a shame really and sad .

Would you spend over $500 dollars for one of those game's I think not it's not worth it. I really wish Konami released a whole collection of silent hill game's in one disc or two on ps4,ps5,xbox one or xbox series x.
I’d pay five hundred for a sealed silent hill 3
@@granturismochannelgooned0069 that's insane wasting that much is just ridiculous 🙄 I'm sorry but it's true. I found a silent hill origins for only $10 dollars cib in a garage sale. Last month I found xenosaga 3 in another garage sale for $8 dollars cib. It's absolutely crazy how people would put a game's price that's wayyy to high? The people really lost there marbles big time. I'm not trying to be a harsh person here but to be honest when I see people spend that much money on a single cib game that's ridiculous to me. However it's a person's choice so I say do whatever you like with your hard earned money but just remember that's ridiculous.
Yeah I like certain games and they mean more to me
So how about you sell me that xenosaga lll for 40 bucks then ?
@@granturismochannelgooned0069 after seeing people online putting that game to high sorry man if I do that I'll never see it again who knows? Sorry I'll have to pass on your offer.
Thanks for the info! :)
I'm pretty sure this series is expensive because Konami's lost the source code for the game. People who worked at Konami during that time admitted that when the HD collection was made, they had to basically build it from the ground up because of that exact reason.
Its true for SH2 and 3 but not 100% sure if its the same for the rest of series but wouldnt be surprised if thats the case.
I do have PS2 tho but all Silent Hill games are expensive.
Resellers! They've ruined the retro market and sucked the life out of collecting... to me.
You should practice giving speeches i feel like you have a genuine personality but are a little bit parsed out with dialogue i might he projecting because im dealing with that right now but your points are very well thought out and good.
Thanks, something I'm really trying to work on.
200 dollars for the ps1 copy yeah this is why I’m glad emulation is a thing sue me
You may want to consider scripting these out instead of doing them extemporaneously, there’s lots of digression and cuttable anecdotes here which makes it pretty difficult to get invested into tbh
Hey i have sh 2 , 3 and 4 in good condition i want to sell but i live in colombia someone interest
Silent hill shattered memories has a fun story that matches the original game, I hate the game play.
Just get the first 4 games, all the other games suck
Something
I will never understand Konami you'd think they'd put the series on playstation 4 or 5 or at least make them easy to Access so people aren't breaking the bank to own the games really dumb on your part Konami it's a shame really and sad .
Wait, was I actually the first comment?
I mean you can check the section right lol
I’m sick of seeing people sh;t on this game. I hate critics. 22:46
I like your story we are the biggest fan of Silent Hill franchise...
one notes... please try to give impression in your tunes I cannot fucus what you try to say because you talk all in same level tune like... no emotion experience...😑
I think I going to pirate the games and play them on my modded ps2 thru freemcboot.
I don't blame you. Not only that but playing games on a modded ps2 is the way to go if your using a hard drive which I will be doing soon.
@@dstreet3818 I have a 250gb ssd on my modded ps2 and load times are nonexistent. I orginal brought a PS2 2 months ago because I wanted to play orginal ps2 ratchet and clank games since the games are hard to emulate on my pc especially deadlocked and hd collection on ps3 sucks.
