Great episode! I love all your Retronomics episodes! And Silent Hill I’ve been tracking prices for almost two years and was shocked how dramatic prices went for Silent Hill 2. A game that has a greatest hits and sold over a million copies and assumed there’s a least hundreds if not thousands of copies circulating. The same goes for Silent Hill 1 but then again, I’d rarely see Silent Hill 1 at a game store and if they did it was $90-100. Throughout the pandemic, I kept looking for games that were inexpensive that had the Silent Hill feeling and ultimately theres no game series that replaces it so I waited till there was a lull in demand and paid less than price charting. Auctions helped too. Hopefully this game series starts to go down or Konami stealth releases new reprints like Square has done so more people can experience these games.
I remember getting Silent Hill for 35-40 and feeling THAT was expensive. It was pretty sought after like Symphony of the Night. Fingers crossed for some modern ports. It's on the PlayStation classic... but the emulation is so jank
I’d be even better to see modern ports. Something like the Castlevania or Contra collection. If they’re done by a respectable developer I’d go a long way for Konami to earn fans trust again. I’ve thought about getting the greatest hits just for the additional content on Silent Hill 2 but maybe at some point.
I recently bought all the Silent Hill games except those that were on PS3 and PS1, and for the sake of honesty, Shattered Memory was for PSP, and the rest for PS2, I also bought two versions of SH2 PAL and NTSC J, all these games cost me 193 dollars, which is incredibly lucky, and probably due to the fact that I live in Russia, so it’s worth taking into account the region where the games are bought Sorry for the inaccuracies in the text, I used google translator :)

I’ve got a PAL factory sealed Silent Hill Collection for the PS2 (with episodes 2, 3 and 4) that I must have paid 45 to 50 euros a few years ago. I wonder how much it’s worth now, but I’d be surprised if it were over 150 euros. Best SH compilation though.
Cheapest complete copy of Silent Hill 3 on eBay in Canada is $200. That’s insane, I bought a disc only copy for $23 a few years ago and bought 2-4 complete from Lukie Games for ~$40USD 5 years ago. I would be shocked if the original trilogy doesnt drop. There were many copies sold for the playstation and right now the boom is inflating the price. What do I mean about 'real'? Well, if you Google quickly you'll find out that Konami lost the original files to the game because of a power outage which corrupted a harddrive. This is why all the remakes/remasters are actually worse and with more bugs than the original.
I got an old tv with an rf adapter to play this and a few other old ps1 games . I find it strange ps network doesn't have a library of Congress for all ps1 historical games that are digitally remastered enough to play on an 80" tv and not be too distorted in their downloads store

Bro I just bought silent hill 3 for $130 and that WAS A GOOD DEAL like wtf man. Gotta burn it or something
Something to keep in mind about Silent Hill 2 is that the original PS2 version is the only real version of the game. Therefore I suspect it's going to hold more value than the rest going forward.
What do I mean about 'real'? Well, if you Google quickly you'll find out that Konami lost the original files to the game because of a power outage which corrupted a harddrive. This is why all the remakes/remasters are actually worse and with more bugs than the original.
Good stuff man
Just looked and 2-4 on the ps2 now range from 300-1000. That’s insane. And pisses me off. Lol
I am not into the Silent Hill games. They are in a genre of games I am not a fan of.
I keep trying to get into them, but they are spooky
Hey, bro. Good camera.
Thanks! I finally got it to look the way that I wanted. After only 3 years of having it lol.
why is silent hill 2 and 4 less expensive on ps2 but cheaper on Xbox?
because the xbox verisons are the worst verisons to play.
I wat to play the original silent hill just to experience it.
That's one that took me so long to play but I'm glad I finally did
I got an old tv with an rf adapter to play this and a few other old ps1 games . I find it strange ps network doesn't have a library of Congress for all ps1 historical games that are digitally remastered enough to play on an 80" tv and not be too distorted in their downloads store
@@philipdove1705 that would be the dream. At least if you have a Ps3 it's on the ps store for cheap.
I got the first four games one for PlayStation rest for pc
Cant you play these on roms for free?
And STEAL?!
yes. That's what I would do if I didn't already have the physical copies. But people like seeing the trends in price and I'm happy to oblige.
Ialready have haunting ground to and beat it two weeks ago
2 years after this video. Yes, they are still inflated
I can't imagine what more if the SH2 remake finally drop on October this year. I have a got feeling prices would become stupidly ridiculous
Love this video. I’m going for a full silent hill collection. I have a CIB copy of sh2,3, Xbox 360 copies of homecoming, downpour and hd collection, as well as loose psp copy fo shattered memories, CIB psp copy of origins, and 2 PS3 copies of hd collection. It’s definitely a lot harder to get them now. Cool thing is that the 360 silent hill games are backwards compatible with my series x so I prefer to play those games in a better way
All version god damned ps4 ps 5 like mgs all
SH3 is all ready at 60$. So it not only dropped, it crashed. We are talking about an extremely common game where there is enough for everybody.
This channel is wrong about everything.
Where are you buying silent Hill 3 consistently for $60? Because people are still paying double that.
They dropped
The greatest hits version of SH2 is the version people actually want
I Already Made This Video Like 2 Weeks Ago On My Channel 🤨
Well it's always nice to have multiple perspectives.
How is the HD collection bad? You’re the only person I’ve ever heard say that about those games.
Really? It was torn apart when it was released. I'm far from the only person who shares that opinion.
