    Watching acrylic paint dry on your artistic gel plate is the most boring thing ever SAID NO ONE EVER. That first print with the masks is amazing. I’m just beginning to learn this technique. I find it scrambles my brain…there’s a lot to know, a lot to learn, but for me, watching you and hearing you describe your process is making sense…a bit. New subscriber. Nice to meet you. 🤍🤍🤍

    I’ve always admired your work - the visual textures, graphics, colors - then later realized it was digital. I too love to play with the gel plate as well as procreate blending layers in different ways and I always wondered how to translate all the delicious effects of digital in reality on paper… this video is sooo inspiring and has opened up so many possibilities. Please keep on sharing techniques of realizing all those gorgeous digital blends on physical substrates… ❤️🙏🏻

    I gave you a hearty "Like" for really novel & interesting technique. You sort of lost me on the ground coffee though since that is not at all archival. I guess because I do conservation work for a living. Why not opt for dry powder pigment as an alternative. I think as artists we should ideally hope that our work will outlive us and be appreciated by future generations. So use a Ph neutral substrate stock and time tested mediums.
    Stay Safe, Healthy, & Happy.

    • @trdewey
      @trdewey  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks! You are right about the coffee, but i don’t think powdered pigments would have the same texture. Also, the paper I am using isn’t archival either. I don’t sell my original work and since I am a digital artist primarily I will photograph it and maybe use it as a digital print. My mother and grandmother were both artists who created on non archival papers and substrates and their work survives- some of my grandmother’s work is over 100 years old and in great shape. But I do see your point and agree in principle about using archival products.

    • @trdewey
      @trdewey  5 месяцев назад +1

      I don’t draw either! These were actually photos of my husband’s shadow that I altered digitally. Then I drew a little here and there. I made stencils and stamps from these. Hopefully one day i will become a designer for a stencil company that will produce them. That’s the goal. I love using figures in my work.

    Please if you could tell us how you sealed the coffee so it won't get moldy, I would appreciate it.

    • @trdewey
      @trdewey  4 месяца назад

      There are many products you can use to seal your artwork from gel medium (be careful as the coffee might run) to spray sealants designed for sealing artwork. I use a spray fixative, like what you use to seal charcoal and chalks, then follow with gel medium because that’s what I usually have on hand. Hope this helps!

    Really enjoyed watching this - thank you - can’t I ask about your desk top? I love it ans can’t work out whether you have distressed it or is it a fake piece?

    • @trdewey
      @trdewey  4 месяца назад

      Thank you! The table was made by a neighbor (I paid him), 67 inches x 45 inches-actually. built for a different room, but my MIL had to live with us so I moved rooms. It is in 3 parts so I can get it out of the door. The top is just thick plywood. I have a glass top on it with a vinyl image underneath the glass. I prefer to work on glass as it is easy to cut, work and clean. Ive had to replace it twice, once because the movers broke it. But it is going on 25 years now. I have a new vinyl piece coming-this one is getting very cruddy. You cant see it on the videos, but it needs to be changed. It lasted around 9 years, so I think that's pretty good.

      @@trdewey Thanks for the link. And you are correct there's no way I'm paying $36 for that tool. I am a gadget geek - but within reason.
