Also if it's black you're using in the magazine paper, you can still use the original image, just use your baby wipes on it and it will give it vintage look, still salvagable for collage

I love all of these pulls. Thanks so much for the tips on the types of magazine books and the amount of paint to use on the plate. I love how you add extra textures by using stamps on the different layers. The xray prints look neat, too using the lighter colors versus the darker ones with the image transfer. You make gelli printing look so easy. I am definitely taking notes from this and your other videos. Thanks so much for sharing.

update update!! the newsprint transfer suggestion you gave me worked! since i didnt have magazines ... i tried it again and it worked !! i saw someones video where it was done although its faint its visable and as you said .... lay newspaper on plate and leave image... let it dry.
and it works best to laydown a layer of color...over the newsprint image left on gel plate, then lift.... and the transfer is there....black newsprint image and background color (increases the visibility). thank you. !

Someone doing videos on RUclips said that if you mix your acrylic paint with a little bit of wallpaper paste, that it retards it drying fast. It's something to experiment with. I haven't used it yet, but I bought some wallpaper paste at Home Depot and I'm going to try it.

Interesting, let me know how it goes. There is also glazing mediums and acrylic retarders that extend drying time if you are interested. Also Golden “open” dry slower ( but I don’t own any Golden “open”). Have fun!

@@devonrex4 I'll let you know how it goes. I do have some Golden Open acrylic paints but hadn't thought of trying them. I guess I'll give them a try too. But wallpaper paste is way less expensive to use for Gelli plate printing. :)

We used to do this in the 60s with a Hectograph. Very cheap to make: gelatin & glycerine. Recipe is online. Today’s artists have taken it to a new level. If the surface gets putted, stick in the oven to melt, and like finger jello, it hardens again.

Thank you so much for watching Kristina! You won’t regret getting a gelliplate, it is very versatile and fun! I tend to use the 8x10 sized one but you can even do a lot with the 5x7 size plate if you want to see if you like it. Have fun!
