  • Today I am making some gesso resist pieces on watercolor paper for collage. I am using watered down acrylic paints, but you can use watercolors if you have them. I hope you enjoy the video!
    Link to some of the stencils I used:

    Hey, Tricia! I watched this when you first posted it but neglected to tell you how amazing these are. I came back this morning and watched again so I could do my own. I forgot about the bottle scribble technique you used, so it’s a good thing I watched again. I hope you are doing well and that your back issues are getting better. I really miss your videos. Your work is so inspiring to me and your videos spark a creative energy that’s hard to resist. Now it’s time for me to resist with some gesso. 😁

    Interesting technique. I stopped by to check out your video because it looked like you were doing old text medical drawings. ;) After watching, I know it's not the case, but I was compelled to stay and check it out. Great work and technique.

      Thank you! Just regular Gesso-probably Liquitex. It came in a big bottle that ended up leaking, so it is now in a mason jar. Then I put it in squeeze bottles I got off Amazon. Once you make your design with the gesso, let it dry. The paints can be anything. I don’t have any watercolors, so I watered down my acrylic paints. I think I used Liquitex basics, Golden fluids, and Ara paint (which I buy from the UK). I said in the video that I like to use transparent colors as well. There are transparent colors in most brands. Hope this helps!

    I loved this video! The elements you made are amazing. I have some Liquitex Basic gesso that got thick somehow and works great with stencils and creating texture. So my thought is maybe put some gesso in another container with the lid off for a bit to let some of the moisture escape. Stir occasionally to check, then place the lid on to maintain. Thank you for sharing 😊

    • @trdewey
      @trdewey  4 месяца назад +1

      Thank you! Yes, I think my gesso is also Liquitex. It came in a big bottle that somehow leaked and now it is in a mason jar! It does get thicker with age. I like drawing the shapes better than using stencils, and I just put it in squeeze bottles I got off Amazon.

    I wonder if you combined thick gesso with modelling paste? Your samples are gorgeous! TFS

    • @trdewey
      @trdewey  4 месяца назад +1

      Thank you! I did try some modeling paste, and it wants to flake off, probably because I put a lot of wet media down. I didnt have any watercolors when I filmed this, so just used watered down acrylics. There is a segment where I show the modeling paste. You could try mixing them, but I want to draw with the squeeze bottle, and I don't think it will work with that. but maybe with stencils it would. If you try that, let me now how it goes!

      I was thinking the same thing, using a pallet knife and stencil, not a squeeze bottle.
