I’ve watched about 10 hours on acrylic mediums (media?) I am now so confused, BUT! You’re the FIRST one who put black behind it, everyone else was spreading pastes and modeling clay white on white…. what Beautiful papers, thanks for sharing with us. I hope your studio is back in shape soon. Just FYI, the volume here is quite low. But no worries, I thouroughly enjoyed this video
I loved seeing this work today. I immediately thought to make tissue paper "ghosts" for halloween. White tissues with holes...and then collaged over black background. Thank you for sharing this with the world.❤❤❤❤👻👻👻👻👻👻👻
So happy to see that you have uploaded. I’ve wanted to use lacy mulberry paper for collage, but had the same reluctance due to its regularity in pattern and cost prohibitive sizes (too small for my needs). Thank you so much for sharing your discoveries. So much diversity and so many possibilities!
This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing your techniques. The decorative papers are so expensive and I find I am rather judicious with them. Now I can make my own. Brilliant!

I think these turned out much nicer than the commercially available ones! They are beautiful... Thank you so much for sharing this, I can't wait to make some. I'm ordering my cords right now and doing a few sizes so I can pick which would work better for me then just return those I don't want. Thank you again, you are so very kind and generous!

Hi Kathleen. Glad it was helpful! I can't wait to put them to use on an abstract and I'll be making loads of them to put in my collage treasure trove. XX😀
Louise I really appreciate you taking the time to share these fun and wonderful and smart ways to make our own texture papers. Im a newbie and I find art so satisfying and happy. Thank you truly.

Although I try to not use weak plastic bags when I am shopping sometimes I get them when I have home deliveries despite asking for them not to use them. I find the bags useful in my craft room and will be using them as the non stick surface when I practice this technique. Occasionally using other techniques the ink from the bags may transfer but I think that only adds to the finished piece unless I am wanting a monochrome end result. Years ago I used to machine knit very loosely to create a wide space mesh, soak that in dilute pva, place it between tissue layers, sometimes multiple layers if I needed a strong piece. It came in very handy when my then 8 year old was playing a Roman soldier in his school play as it made excellent armour. It resulted in my doing more for all the soldiers. I made the others during a workshop in the junior school with the children measuring each other, colouring the finished pieces, adding decorations for rivets and such. For the following years play the teacher asked if I could do the same technique to help make a crocodile costume for their Peter Pan play. Happy memories, I am pleased to be reminded of those times.
Hi again. I have also been experimenting with loose knit to create interesting textures. I love your incredibly inventive approach. Xxx Thanks very much for the fantastic tip. All the best and see you again, Lou x
I dunno what happemed to my comment! But... it's so good to watch you, hear you explain your process. And the papers are gorgeous! When you think how expensive they are to buy, and then watching you makes it look easy. I'm going to have a go. They're all fab, even the packaging you dont like! Mx
This is great!! I've been seeing these cool papers being used but couldn't justify the cost of them... I think I will try this with the backing layers of napkins. Also, I have a whole big tin full of spools of sewing thread...who knew it gets old and mucks up your sewing machine? And I want to figure out those circles, bee hives or something like it. I had tried circles by using threads and gel medium but it didn't work out. Thank you for giving me inspiration for my mad scientist gene!!
Wasps nest are so beautifully constructed and so delicate. They look and feel like paper, perhaps that is why XXX Many thanks for watching, all the very best, Louise

These masterful techniques you create are thrilling for me! Thank you for showing & explaining everything as this thrills me to be able to make these luscious specialty papers! You wave your wand (brush!), and the magic happens. I've been wanting these papers, but their prices are exorbitant. Your ideas, all your videos, illuminate my passion for paper arts. Thank YOU so much. 💎✴️🌿✨️🦋✨️🌿✴️💎
This is absolutely fabulous. Several months ago I experimented trying to replicate agura lace without a great deal of success but love your methods. I love working with that packaging paper mesh and don’t find it too regular. I spray it over something else so it acts as a stencil at the same time. I’ve never thought of wetting it first though. I use it a lot in my art. I’ve also made circles with fibres on tissue paper and when you glue it down the tissue becomes invisible. I’ve always used acrylic based media and never had any problems with painting it afterwards. Another thing I do is punch holes in those accordion folded medication leaflets, then unfold them and spray over something else so they act as a stencil as before. The printing on them adds interest. They tear beautifully along the perforations made with the crop-a-file. Fun fun fun!!
Thank you - loads of good tips, I love using easily sourced, inexpensive materials that can add to our markmaking. Thanks again for sharing your own process and methods. these papers, the textures, the colors... it's all so wonderful. so grateful that you share your creative ideas with us, hardly notice the traffic sounds! i wonder if the wiggly packing paper that you didn't like and eventually abandoned would be easier to handle if you layer it between pieces of tissue paper...? thank you so much for the continual inspiration. I just came across your video in my recommended list. I'm glad that I watched. Thank you for sharing these fascinating ideas. I just subscribed to your channel!!
I like the technique. It reminds me of making joomchi paper. Like you, I like the more organic shapes and textures rather than being able to identify wat something was before. Thanks for sharing your process.
These were joomchi inspired, I think I tred to find a simpler, easier method to achieve what is very labour intensive in joomchi X. Joomchi still has its own attributes that cnnot be replicated. Thank you for watching and so glad you enjoyed it. All the best, Louise.
Great technique. For me, the hardest part will be waiting for the glue to dry. I might try working on freezer paper (instead of cellophane) and then using a heat gun to dry the tissue paper. For really bright colors, acrylic ink might work.
That's a great tip to use the freezer paper; I don't know why I didn't think about that. Much more eco-friendly and probably cheaper. Many thanks again X 😀
It would be interesting to use those pieces to “print” onto other paper as well, while you’re adding the initial colours. Would create some lovely marks & colours
Omg im soooo happy u came up on my thread today! Wud u believe i started doing this immediately lol!! Sadly i ran out of twine but used cotton threads and they are all hanging up to dry and this my my 3rd video of yours im bingewatching !! Thank u! New sibscriber and new artist!!!❤
Wow Louise - you just reminded me that I actually have a couple of sheets of the purchased Lacey papers somewhere. I agree with you that the more organic ones, self-made, are preferable. I am dying to know whether you have tried using these in a 'chine colle' context ?

Thank you ❤
You're welcome 😊
Great technique. For me, the hardest part will be waiting for the glue to dry. I might try working on freezer paper (instead of cellophane) and then using a heat gun to dry the tissue paper. For really bright colors, acrylic ink might work.
That's a great tip to use the freezer paper; I don't know why I didn't think about that. Much more eco-friendly and probably cheaper. Many thanks again X 😀
I wonder, could you soak the string in glue before you add it to the tissue paper? I love the painted papers x

It would be interesting to use those pieces to “print” onto other paper as well, while you’re adding the initial colours. Would create some lovely marks & colours
That's a great idea! We will certainly have to give that a go. Many thanks Lou X😀

Wow Louise - you just reminded me that I actually have a couple of sheets of the purchased Lacey papers somewhere. I agree with you that the more organic ones, self-made, are preferable. I am dying to know whether you have tried using these in a 'chine colle' context ?
Hi I had a look at your RUclips presence and then at your website. I love your work. 😀
