So I’ve had quite a few comments of people starting on their melting journey and they’ve asked how many cans they need to make a decent sized ingot so today that’s what I show. I make it a little bit bigger than usual, but it came out spectacular as you can see 👌🏻. Also there was a heap of Copper skull flats for the manly safe. So sit back enjoy and I hope to see all your beautiful people next week👋🏻😆
I know cans aren't the most efficient way, but limited for options in the UK. I'm still at the hording materials phase and have already got several boxes full of random day to day aluminium cast offs such as cans, food trays/casings etc... I imagine when the time comes all of it will make a couple of very small bars 🤣 the a mates dad kindly donated his knackered old gear box casing from his old van so I should get plenty out of that. Also another mate got a new kitchen put it so had a nice bag of copper wire from his old kitchen that he sent my way. Every little helps 😁
question: is it cost effective to throw the cans in like that or melt them in your "open furnace" (the one with frequently forgotten holes in) and remelt the "drips" in one go - just curious
144 regular clean cans with pickling salt will produce 1.5 kgs of poured metal and 300 grams of slagg. I lose only 20 percent by weight and the slagg I pull off has basically no metal in it. CLEAN AND CRUSHED. Really crushed I flatten mine with a 35lb dumbbell I drop it on them a few times while holding it so there is very little contact for flame oxidation. Less to remove. Also cook it long don't dip too deep when skimming. Skim stir it up to the side skin it. I do all my skimming in the furnace so the metal doesnt cool. If it cools it won't fall out of the slagg and back into the liquid in the pot. That's how I lose only 20 percent. Most videos people tend to lose 30 - 40 percent. Good luck everyone. Thanls for another awesome video "D" !!!!!
Thanks again Grumpy👊🏻😁. When I get some time I’m gonna jump on over and check out the piece you’re making for me but haven’t watched any RUclips lately. Just been bloody flat out as you know with the property, dogs wife and life. And now I have to go spend half a day cleaning out a shed for my mum and pulling up all her pavers because the tree roots are making it a trip hazard🤦🏻♂️! So there’s my day gone! Still haven’t opened the hot stuff yet but it’s gonna happen soon. I know it👊🏻😁 that mango one I know I’m gonna destroy👌🏻
Big fan for multiple years at this point Bigstackd! Thank you for the countless hours of entertainment and education you have provided myself and others. Can’t wait to see more. Much love and respect from the 313!! 😎
@HeavenScentsDetroit cheers for the super thanks I really appreciate it. Yes well if you guys continue to support by watching and sharing I’ll keep putting out the videos. Only 3 things you can rely on in this wacky world and that’s death , taxes and a BigStackD Friday upload👊🏻😁
Thanks, you too Buddy! And cheers for the super thanks once again my friend you’re an absolute champion👊🏻😁. I wanna start melting some more shit, but have to go pull up all my Mum‘s pavers and cut the roots away from the tree so there’s half my day gone 🤦🏻♂️.
It's finally warm enough ( 46f - 8c ) here in the upper Midwest US to get out on the front porch and watch my favorite channel with a hot cup of coffee. Some nice copper skulls and a big and shiny aluminum bar! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
That aluminum bar is beautiful! Nothing looks as nice as high polished aluminum. What always gets me is how nice copper comes out though. It's so grungy and ick after poring, but just a wire wheel and it too is a beautiful thing! I hope the wildlife around your place appreciate how good they got it! I adore how Boullion bounds out of the house, like "good morning world, wassup"? And Ingot strolls out like "who the hell turned on the sun"? And of course his morning rug belly rubs! Adorable monkeys! Have a fantastic weekend, and thanx for another great vid!
Since you have to run your car anyway, it might be more efficient and consume less fuel if you you laid out the cans in two long lines perhaps each between 2x4's and then just drove over them with your car. 2 lines of cans laid broadside to your front wheels would give you 100 cans in about 10.8 feet, 200 in 21.6 feet, 300 in 32.4 feet, 1000 in 108.3 feet. You seem to have a lot of space available. Dunno if it is worth it to try but didn't know if you had ever considered it. Just a thought. I dunno if it would be risky to the tyres.
It's silly, but I love watching the cans pop as the residual moisture evaporates... What can I say? I'm easily entertained. Seriously, though, I do look forward to your videos every week. I'm not one to do any melting myself, but it's fun to watch. Sometimes the stuff you're breaking down is so random that I wonder where you get it all. I mean, HOW many weed wackers did your friend collect?! I also enjoy your sense of humor, which comes through pretty clearly even without speech. 🙂
I'm here watching out for those drop-bears! I'll keep my eyes peeled! Don't let your guard down. ;) I heard there's some in GTA5 that'll get ya if you get lost down the wrong alley in Vespucci Canals map.
That kangaroo was lucky you were holding the Hell hounds back. You must be like Hereacles to accomplish the taming of those beasts. Wishing you a marvelous weekend.
The late one on the melt party here!!!!🤫🤫 The bigSnackD is almost my dinner this Friday night ( - shrimps as I don't like texture and taste of it)🥩🥩 -🦐🦐🦐 As always CHEERS from Quebec Canada 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
I'm sitting here watching and your feeding the magys, then my cat comes running into the room and starts to watch with me. She loves the bird and thinks they are in my laptop because she won't stop trying to get in it! 😂😂🐦⬛🐦⬛ But l think it's the catnip she had with her dinner that could of help her out 😂😂
You Definitely got me into melting and I’m on year two of it and I’m never going to stop. Such a great hobby! Appreciate all the knowledge and different ideas in your videos.
I've been thinking about a kind of crucible for processing a lot of cans quickly. Like something shallow with a spout so it just pours right into a mold as it melts.
Good day from South Dakota, USA. I enjoyed your Video like always you are very informative and enjoyable to watch, I often watch your older melts throughout the week. 👍👍 I am curious about the copper solder mix. It looked like it was separate when you remelted it. If the metals did not mix, could you not have melted it then let it cool in the crucible and just cut off the solder from the copper? Or did it just turn into a coppery solder alloy? The giant rusty mold. Since it seems to rust a lot could you not remove rust and apply a thin film of silicone spray or a very light oil in between uses? Thank you for your time, Looking forward to next week's Video Cheers 🍻 🦘🐨
Cans, so much slag. The only thing I don't like pouring more is zinc, but that yellow flame is pretty cool 😂 Today I will be doing a different pour- concrete. I really need a flat and level surface to pour ingots. Thanks for the continuous inspiration!
On a normal melt you are fine, but on dirtier items like these cans I find it useful to add crushed charcoal at the end of the burn. The slag is attracted to the charcoal and easier to strain out without pulling a lot of metals with it. Over all great videos as always. Get excited when new video notifications come.
Damn, brother! That's a lot of cans! Great video as always, and the boys are looking good too! I want to start melting stuff someday, but that will have to be when I move out of California. I'm too close to neighbors, and my house has no room to store a furnace. Keep it up!
Amazing job mate. I have about 6 boxes full of compacted cans. I'm saving up to get all the metal casting equipment to reduce all those compacted cans. Greetings and big hug from Argentina 🇦🇷 👋🏻💪🏻
I find the super closeups of the metal after casting are kinda cool and creepy, ever tried looking at them through a macro lens? Also that's super cool that you're finally crowbros now! Those birds are super intelligent and never forget kindness... or insult
17:30 I know it would be too time consuming to film all the cans, but for the record, it really *is* pleasing to hear the wet scrunching noice the cans make when the proccess gets sped up 😅🤘
Does it affect the aluminum ingot if you have all that rust in the iron mold? Would it be worth using a wire wheel to get rid of the rust and smooth the mold before using it?
So I’ve had quite a few comments of people starting on their melting journey and they’ve asked how many cans they need to make a decent sized ingot so today that’s what I show. I make it a little bit bigger than usual, but it came out spectacular as you can see 👌🏻. Also there was a heap of Copper skull flats for the manly safe. I am still at the “propane torch/stainless bowl/low melting temp metals” stage, but maybe I will work up to a real furnace one day! 😅
I know cans aren't the most efficient way, but limited for options in the UK. That new mold would make for a nice block of copper or brass..

I don't know why, but I am just fascinated by watching the cans melt in the crucible
Ya somos dos
OG PC game MONKEY ISLAND on the TV!!!!!!! You sir, are a man of culture.
Monkey Island?
Nice melt mate!! A better can crusher would help your cause a lot! Make the melts a lot quicker!
Have a good weekend mate.
He just needs to tighten that gap on the one he has. Might make feeding in a little sporty, but that’s life. 😃

@@bigstackD you are a good son 👍🏻
This is my favorite video ever! Huge bar AND aluminum melting? Sign me up for this every week!
Of all the videos, this one about cans is one of the most hypnotic!😵💫
It's finally warm enough ( 46f - 8c ) here in the upper Midwest US to get out on the front porch and watch my favorite channel with a hot cup of coffee. Some nice copper skulls and a big and shiny aluminum bar! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
The temps are up and so is the wind!!
@jasondarling0629 I have an enclosed porch so wind isn't a factor, it was gusting to 45mph ( 72 kph ) as I watched the video.
constant 80s or 90s down here in Mississippi lol
Ingot's morning scratching routine on the rug cracks me up!
That belly aint gonna scratch itself lol
Seems rather lewd to me 😂
Lol,he ain't scratching his belly he's scratching lower
I wish I knew where to get one of those mats. My dog is forever wanting scrathes on the whole belly area
Ignot will always be my favorite. He's chill. Just lets Bullion get on with it and knows who was there first. Hahah
Ingot is just so… majestic. He’s like the five-star general in his dress uniform, while Bullion is the captain, always looking out, on guard.
Watching the cans get crushed and hearing the engine idle was very relaxing. Thanks 😂
06:53 That green flame's just wicked... 👍💚
That aluminum bar is beautiful! Nothing looks as nice as high polished aluminum. What always gets me is how nice copper comes out though. That is one big hunk of metal. Nice touch with the monkey island music in the background.
Cool to watch the labels on the cans melt! Love to watch the can melts.
You cleaning your trailer is about as likely as my husband cleaning up the basement. I applaud the enthusiasm but won't hold you to it 😂.

I rlly like the video and the green flame is the best😂 but ey still its very cool 😃
It's silly, but I love watching the cans pop as the residual moisture evaporates... What can I say? I'm easily entertained. Seriously, though, I do look forward to your videos every week. 4:40 put soapy water in a spray bottle and spray down the fittings with it. If it’s leaking it’ll make bubbles.
Wow nice mirrored bar. Simply awsome. 325 cans, wow.
Actually 352 if I remember correctly🤔
Past couple of videos you've really started capturing the red of molten Aluminium. Sweet.
Great video, I was up at 3am when your post popped up and seeing the pup yawning made me sleepy again, see ya next week. 😊
Great nighttime photography. Especially the shots of the blue/green flames.
I have tried watching this video 4 times and I keep falling asleep. Love watching the videos. Been here a while. Since 2020.
Yey he brought out the massive furnace again, i love that thing due to it be able to melt 20 kgs of metal.
I think the copper skulls have a lot of character 👍
I always like the “oops” coins and such, it gives them LOTS of character. 👍🏻
Back in the day it would be called regional currency. Just saying. 😉
“Why skulls?”🤣
Morning D, always a good watch when I'm working, glad to see you this week.
I'm here watching out for those drop-bears! I'll keep my eyes peeled! Don't let your guard down. ;) I heard there's some in GTA5 that'll get ya if you get lost down the wrong alley in Vespucci Canals map.
Two in the morning on Friday in Alberta waiting for Big Stack D’s new video.
You are often imitated but never duplicated 🤘🏼
I appreciate your dedication to the melt- that was fun to see you cleaning up from last week /and/ doing a new melt!
yes! u r on time, thank god its friday...
When you do that in the dark and you can see just how red hot the furnace and crucible are. That is cool.
I really like your workshop. Marginally controlled chaos, just like mine. Thanks for the video.
I just wanted to say I love your videos. It’s the highlight of my week and has inspired my new hobby. Thank you for all your hard work.
🎶 *_Rub a Dub... Dub..._* 🎶 🤣 Gotta love it when someone has their priorities straight!
My Saturday morning show ,Pat Pat to the PUGS, thank you very much 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I cannot imagine the level of patience one must have to melt that many cans. Very nice indeed, D!
That 2nd skull you poured was rather Scooby Doo-ish. I like it!
£6.66
Nice.
I sure like the way the WD 40 drops look on the aluminium ingot...nice patterns... thanks for sharing this with us 😎👍
No problem 👍
I do like how the copper skulls have an almost beyond ancient look about them.

BigGamerD! Awesome video as usual sir! Thank you again ❤
it's been a while since the last can melt ❤
Another awesome video! Thanks for sharing your passion with us!✌🏻😉
That kangaroo was lucky you were holding the Hell hounds back. You must be like Hereacles to accomplish the taming of those beasts. Wishing you a marvelous weekend.

I love that green flame.
Sweet toothes head laughing at the end was great!
Love the night shots.
Yes! Love your videos mate. They calm my mind for some reason. And I also enjoy watching the monkeys getting fed snacks!
That 20kg duel burner is gorgeous.
I’m a beginner metal caster learning the basics of sand casting and I’ve gotten so many tips from you bigstackD thanks a lot 🎉🎉🎉
No problem 👍
I love it see the night melts where you can see the color of the flame.
i love these videos, keep it up big man, top g of the Saturday morning from the uk
Another great melt!!!
What is the biggest crucible and casting iron that they make??
Liked the reference to Beetle Juice
Man I love huge ingots, they’re just too good
You Definitely got me into melting and I’m on year two of it and I’m never going to stop. Such a great hobby! Appreciate all the knowledge and different ideas in your videos.
Starting my morning off right with the video. Just got to the beef and reef part and now I’m hungry 😂.
As a first hour fan I noticed that I start FFWD the clips more and more, maybe you can do something to revive? A shredder maybe, or dynamite?
I love can melts! ❤
I think the skulls turned out super cool
Well b4 you wire brushed them.
That was an amazing ingot, so many cans!! Your boy certainly loves a scratch on the carpet 😂
I've been thinking about a kind of crucible for processing a lot of cans quickly. Like something shallow with a spout so it just pours right into a mold as it melts.
It looks like an aluminium cake with aluminium and copper skull cookies.
Those massive bars are awesome

Sensacional parabéns.
Aproveitamento de latas de aluminum.
Oh yeah! That green flame is so cool! 🍻💚
Morning D! It’s 4:05 here on the east coast of the states. On last break. I’ll be back in a bit🍻👍
Wow the cicada noise is brutal
I love the melt phone bit
Night time melting awesome 🎉
"More slag than yer average London battlecruiser m8"...😂😂😂
Great video brother from the imperial county California 👍🇺🇲
Great content as normal keep them coming
Cans, so much slag. The only thing I don't like pouring more is zinc, but that yellow flame is pretty cool 😂 Today I will be doing a different pour- concrete. I really need a flat and level surface to pour ingots. Thanks for the continuous inspiration!
You’re an ingot.
Best. Ice drop. Ever.
16:52 Great catch!
Big can stackd 💪
Stupid question, but any progress on getting a shredder? It would make can and pipe melts a little easier. Plus change it up a bit.
Cheers from France mate !❤❤❤
I thought for sure we would get the bulk melter and dripped full crucibles. (I think it would be faster)
On a normal melt you are fine, but on dirtier items like these cans I find it useful to add crushed charcoal at the end of the burn. Good day how's it going I am from California I am one of your subscribers long time viewer of your videos
Yay for a video!
Great video , love the look of cast bars , can’t wait to have some of my copper, brass and aluminium made into cast bars😍
Amazing job mate.
I have about 6 boxes full of compacted cans.
I'm saving up to get all the metal casting equipment to reduce all those compacted cans.
Greetings and big hug from Argentina 🇦🇷 👋🏻💪🏻
Don’t worry about the planes mate, it’s the ATO guys in gilly suits in the bush that are the real problem 😁🤣
I find the super closeups of the metal after casting are kinda cool and creepy, ever tried looking at them through a macro lens? Also that's super cool that you're finally crowbros now! Those birds are super intelligent and never forget kindness... or insult
17:30 I know it would be too time consuming to film all the cans, but for the record, it really *is* pleasing to hear the wet scrunching noice the cans make when the proccess gets sped up 😅🤘
hahaha...had to pull out the shrimp too
Surprised you don't sell your own steak sauce. Thanks for counting the cans, it kinda gives me an idea on what I can prepare for with my first melt.
Does it affect the aluminum ingot if you have all that rust in the iron mold? Would it be worth using a wire wheel to get rid of the rust and smooth the mold before using it?
