Hey Scott I have the Z Cam E2c, which is even smaller with the one piece Smallrig cage. I can also record out to SSD drive via USB-C. I have never used that feature as of yet. I also have the Ninja V and I have been shooting with ZCAM RAW codec out to the Ninja V for DCI 4K 12 Bit recording. The image quality straight from the sensor is totally amazing !
Nice video! I'm excited to see what this camera is capable of. I feel like this camera is very underrated. Can't wait to see it used to its full potential.
Can't wait to see the content you release with that. I've been thinking about getting the Z Cam E2C which is the little brother to the E2 just so I could get in the door of filmmaking.
Thanks friend! Can't please everyone I guess :) Glad you enjoyed the video. The camera itself was about $3000 CAD. The rigging and SSD probably added another $600. Fortunately, my GH5 lenses and monitor can directly transfer over. If you where to completely build this rig from scratch you are probably looking at around $5-6k CAD.
would anyone ignore the fact that he low key looks like Keanu Reaves? a bit longer beard and hair, a bit deeper voice. voila! Anyway, this video is so useful! thank you!
Hey Rob, you are correct, no IBIS. That is the biggest thing I'm having to get comfortable with compared to the GH5 and is part of the reason the GH5 won't fully leave my kit. There are certain situations where having smooth handheld shots on a small rig is important. That said, I am loving the picture I get out of the Z CAM. The 4k 120fps looks way better than the 1080p 120fps I was getting out of the GH5. This was a big motivator for the upgrade as I continue down the path of mountain bike filmmaking. I wasn't super happy with any slow motion I got out of the GH5 except for the 4k60p and that's often not slow enough. Only time will tell how I end up liking this camera though. I haven't gotten to use it on any paid projects yet so I'll definitely be posting more as it gets added into my workflow. Thanks for watching.
@@ScottBell Totally. that makes complete sense... I've stopped using the 120fps on my GH5 for that same reason. I just found myself at the end of that video thinking, wow, I just watched a full video on rigging out a camera I don't even have... but great job, I love your methodical presentation and content.
@@robjamesewing Thanks Rob, that's good to hear. I'm glad it kept you interested. Be careful, this camera will sneak up on you and have you falling in love :)
Thanks for watching. Since producing this video I actually have run into some problems with the Zcam. I might have had a defective unit but I returned it to B&H and haven't requested a new one until I see how finances settle from COVID stuff. I will be making another video about this soon, but you might have dodged a bullet!
Hi, Thanks for the great video. Quick question. Can I connect to LANC control port on ZCAM E2-M4 or E2-S6 instead of USB-C ? ie. LANC on Ninja V to LANC on E2 camera. Keeping USB-C free is useful to record with SSD disks directly.
Hey Prabu, I'm not sure if this is possible. Since recording this video I returned my Zcam due to a number of issues (see video on my channel). Good luck.
I have been researching the blackmagic 4k for about a month now... Today I ran across this camera. What camera out of these two would you recommend most for personal do it yourself youtube channel and possible music video or small commercial type work?
Hey, thanks for watching. Honestly, neither of those options are great for filming yourself for youtube. You'll be wishing you had gotten something with an articulating screen. You can get something much cheaper than a Zcam that will do that job well. Between the BM and Zcam for other work, I would personally go with the BM. After having the Zcam for a month, I had a bunch of issues (see other video on my channel). Lots of ppl aren't having the negative experiences I had but it made me not trust Zcam for paid work. Biggest downside of the BM is battery life, otherwise, both cameras require a fair amount of rigging to work well.
Scott Bell thanks for the reply. I have heard that it’s bad for youtube work but the quality is great. Is there any good camera that you would recommend? I currently use the Sony a6300 and I want to step it up.
@@VIPREVIEWZ I'm on hold on any camera purchases at the moment to see how things shake out over the next few months. Too many really impressive cameras just released/announced. I still shoot everything with the GH5 and overall it serves me great. I'm looking at the newly announced C70 or Sony A7SIII at the moment. Waiting to see some real-world tests of the C70.
Hello, You can mount this on a Ronin S if you strip it down. If you want to use the 18-35 you will need the counter weight baseplate that smallrig makes or the battery runs into the back motor. All that said, I have since returned my Zcam as it was having multiple issues (video to follow soon). So I can't recommend Zcam at this time unfortunately.
Great breakdown, I love rig videos! Have you seen the new Portkeys side handle? It connects over bluetooth and you can map the buttons to any camera controls on the ZCAM. It's almost as if it was made for ZCAM specifically :D Check it out!
Thanks for watching! I've been looking at that Portkeys handle. Definitely looks pretty interesting. Curious how the controls will feel on it compared to the Clutch handle.
Is it worth to change from GH5s to zCam e2? I thought upgrading to s6 or even f6, but the price is going too far.. Waiting for your workflow video. Good job
Hello, unfortunately the Zcam had some issues for me and I ended up returning it. I will not likely be trying another one. I will be posting a video about this eventually. For now, I'd stay away from Zcam.

Thanks for watching Mike. Long term review is that the camera has issues. I sent mine back and probably will not be getting another one. Video coming!

How much did you pay for the speed booster and what kind of lenses does it work with?
I bought mine used but it's a Metabones Speedbooster 0.71x It works with all EF mount glass (full frame and aps-c) on cameras with a M43 sensor.
