- In the first hearing of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, lawmakers discussed the origins of COVID-19 with a panel of experts including Dr. Robert Redfield, former director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Trump administration. Redfield told lawmakers he still believes the virus was more likely the result of an accidental lab leak than "a natural spillover event."

Health is always impacted by racism and studies are always affected by the political and social attitudes of the those who fund studies as well as those who design them. It is questionable that a person who writes about genetic inequality betw people of different racial background will be able to provide unbiased opinions on a health condition that has so harmed people of color. Sorry you are so uncomfortable about having to consider the prejudices and racism of those testifying here. It is also questionable that a government hearing would give such honor to someone of such racist positions. We have 100's of other investigative journalists and medical people who are less blatant with such attitudes.

Laurie Garrett, a science journalist who is a former senior fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations, called Redfield "about the worst person you could think of to be heading the CDC at this time" and said "he lets his prejudices interfere with the science, which you cannot afford during a pandemic"

The way covid was handled by trump CAUSED many deaths. He downplayed the virus 38 times saying it would disappear. 23,000 daily cases later - he started looking for a vaccine in May. In March he wanted churches packed by easter. In April trump suggested bleach. Trump's resistance to masks at rallies and mixed messages until July/August/Sept/Oct - 72,242 cases daily - 220,000 deaths - he's still telling us it's going to disappear. Surely this SHOULD be part of "preventing this from happening again." Who do we TRUST? Health officials, presidents AND (fox) news sources SHOULD be on the same page in the future and held responsible for misinformation.

After a month, I still couldn't do basic math, and short term memory suffered. Coughing and flu symptoms. Rn I'm still coughing and mild flu symptoms get the occasional bout of nausea and brain fog but it passes. I've been turned down by emergency room twice and into a month of tests at my primary. I'm 22, and previously healthy although I was a heavy pot smoker. I hope it isn't as wild for you lol. I hope you get better soon

Most gas tanks have spark arrestors that will not let a flame flash back. They are commonly placed between the source tank and the line or else having a flame any where near would be potentially deadly. I understand what the virologist was getting at though.

I did my own research listened to experts that were shouting but were constantly been hushed and I NEVER swallowed anything from Faucci or didn't trust WHO after some suspicious stuff. I didn't vaccinate bit instead learned which vitamins I could triple dose on to make my immune system stronger. The people I felt sorry were for the parents of children...God that must have been a very difficult decision to make of vax or un vax...my kids are in late 20's and like me no vax of their own choice. @@davidanderson94 It doesn't. It could be that we just didn't find the animal. The PRC could have went in a cleaned up to eliminate anything that makes the government looks bad...which seems to be standard protocol. But the same would go for the lab leak as well. So, we'll probably never know.
