I’m a Dominican living in Miami and watching your video made me feel like packing up my stuff and move back home. Thanks so much for loving my country.
I am Puerto Rican and I have a house in El Cibao (Bonao), Dominican Republic. Unfortunately, I don't like Santo Domingo at all. Traffic is chaotic, the city is not clean, and public safety is a significant concern. I prefer visiting Constanza, Jarabacoa, San Juan de la Maguana, Santiago de los Caballeros, La Romana, and Puerto Plata. Dominicans are truly delightful. I visited once and stayed for seven consecutive years. Now in Puerto Rico, I am getting ready to go back to my beloved Dominican Republic, where its people welcomed me with open hearts, in the same way I love all of them.
I'm Dominican born n raised, my sister's husband is a American with partial Puerto Rican ancestry from NYC, they live here in DR and love it, they have several houses here in the capital and in Cibao
100% it’s the people that left in the 80s and 90s thinking it’s still the same place. DR is considered an upper middle class economy now and one of fastest growing economies in Latin America.
I’m American born and I went to school in Arroyo Hondo (instituto Yodi). No longer there but my best life was lived in Santo Domingo. There are very very wealthy people in Santo Domingo. I love it and hope to move there with my fam

Santo Domingo! Same as you, I love the many bars, restaurants, cigar bars and movie theaters in Districto Nacional. But I also love to be close to my adopted family in este where I’m humbled and able to get a home cooked meal from my former suegra. Many beautiful people there where you can sit in front of the house and everyone speaks. I’ve learned to go back in forth using the metro and avoiding the traffic.
It is so refreshing to see this thank you for being honest and for loving my country. Looking for a better life I migrated to Florida but worked hard daily to keep my family good. I want to thank you for speaking so highly about My Country, I was born and Raised in Santo Domingo where One Day I Hope to go back for good🎉 so Thank You 😊
I started out in Santo Domingo . After living in Atlanta for 28 years, I was just tired of the big city life and the rat race. I went to Puerto plata for a wedding, and just fell in love with it, Puerto Plata is more of a retirement community. I still visit the capital from time to time, you guys do have nice restaurants there.
Thank you for speaking so high about my country. I am from los campos, very different from Santo Domingo. Thank you for making my country your home. Welcome!
I feel sooo good to know that I was born in Santo Domingo. Of course, living in the West side of Europe, I see clearly how Santo Domingo could do better. But still is doing way better than many Latinamerican cities when it comes to what you say about the many comercial places, good restaurants, bars and stores with every single thing you need wow!
Could do better? This country is doing better. It's growing at a rapid pace more now so than years past. It has the fastest growing economy in Latin America. It'll be a powerhouse in 10 to 15 years. If you don't own nothing here you better get something soon. Even if it's just land.
I was in Santo Domingo in December and stayed at 07 Aprel that area was super nice alot of high end cars and people great restaurants some of the most beautiful women I ever saw in my life and very safe I will be relocating soon but not sure exactly where thanks for video
Just subscribed! I too am a foreigner living here in Dominican Republic with my lady. I'm a writer and I write everyday living in DR to help others. Your video was very clear and spot on, I enjoyed.
Hey Bro, your wife just told us that you have your own channel now, that’s great! I’m currently living in the Dominican Republic and I’m an American, looking forward to learning more about this beautiful country from an American perspective, thanks, Bro ‼️😊💪‼️
Hey man , I just watched your video and it is ON POINT. I just left Santo Domingo , was there for 16 days and I loved it. My 9th trip and I am all in, making my plan to work in the USA for a few more years but I will have my home base in Santo Domingo. I am from Los Angeles and the vibe here reminds me of LA in many ways. And your last point is one of the very best. I am involved with a Dominican lady, and it’s early in the relationship. And I am not trying to be a playa, BUT some the finest women I have ever seen are in this city! And they have conversation! Not stuck up! If you got something to say, they want to hear it. And for the man that has his eyes open, this is a new frontier for many opportunities to invest, start a business or partner up with like minded folks here. Great video man, all your points are valid. The traffic is really bad, but it’s bad in LA also. If you can control the times you are on the road and where you need to be, you can do that. I rent a car every time I am there. A LA guy has to have wheels. If I run into you in the city boss, the first second and third round are on me! I appreciate you!
I try to tell guys this all the time. Just come here and open your eyes. Don't come here looking to chase skirts you miss all the opportunity. The skirts gone come. This city awesome. BTW...let me know next time you're in Santo Domingo
I’m glad to see Americans showing love to us, hope you do well and start to see (if not doing it) the world as most of us do, we’re just people (Dominicans), not blue, red or any color, just Dominicans. And once you can use some dominican slang you’ll hear “you’re more dominican than me” 😂.
Brother, I already see this. Dominicans look at one another as Dominicans and that the part of the culture I like. And yes they are already telling me I'm more Dominicanbthan them...klk😅
Thank you!!! I have traveled the world and always end up missing it so much, the food, people, the whole vibe. Yes, it is not perfect and we need to get better organize but man, I love my country like crazy.
Thank you for talking so well about my country. I'm from Barahona DR but Santo Domingo is my favorite city because you can do and find whatever you want in this great city. ❤
I hear so many great things about Santo Domingo! I already want to move there and I haven’t been yet 😂 however I am going to Santo Domingo for my first time this summer and I can’t wait to go! I got an Airbnb in Piantini. I wouldn’t mind seeing videos about your top favorite places to go to in Santo Domingo or your favorite restaurants to eat at in Santo Domingo too. I am glad you made this video. I will subscribe to your channel.
James, your perspective on Santo Domingo is spot on! Although I’m in POP, I’ve traveled several times to the Capital, and each time I’ve had a spectacular experience. The food scene is second to none. Arturo Fuentes Cigar Lounge was probably one of the best lounges I been to. Lastly, there are so many beautiful, classy, and educated women in Santo Domingo and is definitely a treat for your eyes!

I have many friends in the US and are nice people like you and your beautiful wife. Thank you so much for sharing this! May God bless and keep you and your family!
Moving to the DR in June after traveling back and forth for 10 years. Im torn between Santiago and Caberete, I love the beach but also enjoy the Big City, mainly because I am from Miami. Really enjoy watching you and your wife and hope to meet the two of you one day. Blessings to you and your family.
You'll probably enjoy Santiago better. Cabarete is a small beach town. I guess you have to decide which is more important for you the beach or the city life. Be good if you can have both like Miami 😅
Great breakdown brother. After primarily living as virtual nomad/ business man in Medellin for a year you have inspired me to check out Santo Domingo. I love the same things you do.
I am from Mao Valverde however, I love Santo Domingo too since it was ny home during my college years. I met my husband there and whenever I visit my country I go there to visit my family and friend. I love the colonial city !😅😅
I went from your wife's Dominican accent to your southern accent...lol! Great video I like how you enunciated your words and spoke clearly. I am an expat who has lived in Puerto Plata for 9 years I have a decent lifestyle and cost of living there but Santo Domingo is my second favorite place in the Dominican Republic for some of the same but some different reasons. To live the same lifestyle, I have in Puerto Plata it would cost me about 30% more therefore I am content visiting about twice a month. For me there are many shopping items you cannot find anywhere else in the country, but you can find them in Santo Domingo. In fact, if you can't find what you are looking for in Santo Domingo it's probably not in the Dominican Republic. As far as the restaurants and the women we are 100% in agreement. I have just subscribed to your page so keep up the good work....oh year you make a good team with your wife in her videos it's good to see a successful cross-cultural couple...thanks again!
Hey brotha, I live in Santo Domingo as well for the half of the year. Would love to connect with you.. you are 1000 percent right about everything you said. Hope we can connect someday.. always good to know some good brothas from the states down there. Much respect
Hi! I am recently moving to San to Domingo with my husband and 2 year old son for my husbands job. This video was so useful thank you. I am very nervous and worries I will feel so lost. I’m from nyc and husband from Jersey
Lived over there for many years . Planning on going back . I traveled and have gone all over the island. Being from NYC and now living in Miami. I’m also used to big city’s . Agree with you also about the opportunity and meeting people. In DR you can network meet and befriend people from all walks of life that can teach you something. Good video 👍🏼
I didn’t know you were from Alabama. Im from Town creek AL about an hour from Huntsville. But I have been living in Huntsville for quite awhile now. I have seen your wife’s content which led me to yours just now. I visited Santo Domingo 4 times in 2023 because im strongly considering moving there. I have a love for Santo Domingo as well. It just feels like home its hard to explain. I have also visited punta on 2 of those trips. I will be coming back next month to Santo Domingo August 22-27th. Maybe we can connect.
Awww... tan lindo Jay! Thank you for choosing the country that saw my grandparents being born! Santiago, and Santo Domingo, are also one of my favorite cities!! I'm soooo glad you like our country! I love you guys! ❤️ Besotes para Norberis!🫶🏻
Man Jay you and Norberis are really motivating me. I’m glad I found your page. It’s nice to hear an experience from someone that looks like me. I’m trying to move there within 2 years.
I love my city Santo Domingo. Favourite part is la Zona Colonial, not to live in la Zona but to hangout, to live best part for me is Bella Vista or zones next to Mirador Sur park. Nadie me saca de aqui 😂
@@JayAbroadI also went to Zona Colonial to hang out and had a great time but fell in love with Santiago ❤️ since I prefer the country side and nature when I go back on vacation it would be Santiago, again 😁. Blessings my brother 🙏🏼🤍
I love my city and my country. Having lived in Europe for awhile, I definitely don't want to live somewhere else again. ***When it comes to Santo Domingo ,I hate the traffic, the people staring at me from head to toe as if i had a poop necklace. I guess its just how they grow when not used to seeing someone dressed a certain way. Thanks for your honesty and realness.
@@JayAbroad Europe is meh...I only liked being able to walk alone at 3-5am. D.R is great place to live for middle upper classity; the music, the places, the diversity. I hate the traffic in S.D, ngl, but other than that, If I gotta choose, I stay here.
@JayAbroad I'm from a small town called Faunsdale. It's about an hour south of Tuscaloosa. Navy Veteran who's traveled around the world. Thinking about retiring there
Me personally I love the North Coast, Cabarete, POP, & Sosua. I love Sosua because of the different food choices, beaches, warm weather all year round, nightlife, & of course the women
Santo Domingo has all that times 100 compared to those areas except for the easy beach access. But I feel ya bro, that your rest haven. I know a lot of people like it up that way. That's what makes this country beautiful its something for every one. Enjoy it homie 💪🏾

Lol. .Thanks for the support of both channels we appreciate it. And trust me I wish Santo Domingo had Puerto Plata prices.
And I'm one of the ones that absolutely love it!! I've been many many times and always have a great time. Was just there in February
You're like me then. It's the place to be👍🏾
Hey brotha, I live in Santo Domingo as well for the half of the year. Would love to connect with you.. you are 1000 percent right about everything you said. Hope we can connect someday.. always good to know some good brothas from the states down there. Much respect
Send me an email at iamjayabroad@gmail.com
Enjoy the country! Hope you take the time to enjoy all the places there! 🙌
Thank you! And yes I will.
What up Jay....Great video!!!
Preciate that bro🙌🏾
Hi! I am recently moving to San to Domingo with my husband and 2 year old son for my husbands job. This video was so useful thank you. I am very nervous and worries I will feel so lost. I’m from nyc and husband from Jersey
You're welcome. Glad it was helpful!
i recently went to santo domingo after 20 years and its insane how much that city changed, the infrastructure is great
It's a real Metropolitan city now.
I am Dominican🇩🇴 and I live in Florida, USA and I wish one day to return to my Santo Domingo (my capital) I love it❤🇩🇴
What are you waiting on?
Thanks for all that's good thing you said about my country
My pleasure!
Thanks bro💪🏾💪🏾
I didn’t know you were from Alabama. Im from Town creek AL about an hour from Huntsville. But I have been living in Huntsville for quite awhile now. I have seen your wife’s content which led me to yours just now. I visited Santo Domingo 4 times in 2023 because im strongly considering moving there. I have a love for Santo Domingo as well. It just feels like home its hard to explain. I have also visited punta on 2 of those trips. I will be coming back next month to Santo Domingo August 22-27th. Maybe we can connect.
Yessiiirr I'm from Alabama. Definitely, message me on IG at @iamjayabroad as the time nears for your travel and maybe we can coordinate something.
Thanks brother for talking about my country like you talking 🔥🔥🔥🔥Thanks 😊

Yes, I love your country. 🤗
Man Jay you and Norberis are really motivating me. I’m glad I found your page. It’s nice to hear an experience from someone that looks like me. I’m trying to move there within 2 years.
We appreciate you supporting both of the channels. Thanks fam💪🏾💪🏾
I make 2k from home and that's enough for me and my kid left usa 6 years ago, almost paid off my house here living 20x better than in usa..love it
Yep, you can't get an apartment for 2k in the States. That definitely goes further in DR.
Thanks for talking good about DR , God bless you.
My pleasure
Awesome 🤩 Vid brother
Yessiiirr thanks!
I love this video you because you spoke about the prospering wave that is happening over there. I just subscribed to your channel
Awesome! Thank you!
I love my city Santo Domingo. Favourite part is la Zona Colonial, not to live in la Zona but to hangout, to live best part for me is Bella Vista or zones next to Mirador Sur park. Nadie me saca de aqui 😂
I agree this is right, I should have mentioned that, Zona Colonial is great to hangout at night. It's a different vibe than in the day time.
@@JayAbroadI also went to Zona Colonial to hang out and had a great time but fell in love with Santiago ❤️ since I prefer the country side and nature when I go back on vacation it would be Santiago, again 😁. Blessings my brother 🙏🏼🤍
This was lovely big brotha!! Blessings to you and the family ! I’ll be visiting in September for a celebration! Thank you for breaking it down ..
You're welcome bro. September will be here before you know it..
Are you saying you don't want to live in Europe anymore? You hate the traffic in Europe or Santo Domimgo?
@@JayAbroad Europe is meh...I only liked being able to walk alone at 3-5am.
D.R is great place to live for middle upper classity; the music, the places, the diversity. I hate the traffic in S.D, ngl, but other than that, If I gotta choose, I stay here.
That's understandable. The quality of life here is much better. Are you living in the capital?
@@JayAbroad yes Sir.
Lived and worked in Punta Cana for awhile but I prefer the city(S.D) with all the messed up traffic and noise. Truth be told.
Thanks to talk about DR.
You're welcome 💪🏾
Cool.... I'm a from Bama as well brother. My Sister in law is from Santo Domingo. I'll be there soon
Yessiiir, what part of Bama?
@JayAbroad I'm from a small town called Faunsdale. It's about an hour south of Tuscaloosa. Navy Veteran who's traveled around the world. Thinking about retiring there
@@terrycollins12 Wow, I've never heard of that town but of course I know Tuscaloosa. So you got DR on your list to retire?
@JayAbroad yessir going to check out belize in july
I heard its nice there too..
My favorite is Puerto Plata so far.
I hear that from a lot of people.
Amen brother love the channel and the insights see you soon.
Much appreciated, bro. Looking forward to chopping it up with you.
love this video
thanks!
Much Respect my Brother!! Keep the info coming
Will do, thanks!
Excellent content thank you sharing this comments.
I’m a Dominican from the campo I lived in NYC for many years now I’m living in ATL for more than 20 years but I miss NYC a lot,I understand very well what you’re talking about I love being in a city with a lots of people and noise it gives me so much energy I enjoy public transportation starting from the airport to all around the city walking in manhattan streets at midnight or 2am eating a slice of pizza looking at the lights in the city.
Thank you.
I also visit DR 3 times a year I love too.
Yep, you got it👍🏾
