    Goats would DESTROY all that overgrowth around your pond in no time. Very useful tool. Plus they're fun😊

      That would be fun to watch them destroy it!

    Love your channel and all of the big toys you use to wrangle the land into cleared, useable space.
    Only have one suggestion. I really enjoy listening to the machinery you work with, but, the music just detracts from these sounds. It just feels more like I am right there working with you without the music. What you do is very interesting and worthwhile. It is exciting to let my imagination wander into the possibilities of what you can do with your beautiful land. I am a seventy two year old woman who, at one time, did just what you are doing now. Kudos to you and your beautiful family. You will never regret all your arduous work.👍😊

      I appreciate your feedback! I'm editing a video now about bushhogging some old pastures and I just removed the music that was playing while I am bushhogging based off your feedback. Hopefully that will be better. Thanks!

    We have rental goats here in Nashville Tennessee They come and drop them off in a fenced area along the banks of the river and come and pick them back up in the afternoon and they would just hop right back in the back of the truck and go to another field! The banks were steep for mowers so it worked out great.

    I think I would have taken that debris that you put in the hole and used it down in those holes first. Look to me that there was a lot of cement product there?
    Don't believe those are actually sinkholes but I understand what you mean. You're doing a fantastic job and everything is looking wonderful.

    • @gottaspeakout4272

      True, those were not sink holes.

    • @livingon80

      I think it may be washout from the dam being broken on the pond thats nearby. I've seen water flowing underground in the hole before I filled it. A critter may have a tunnel from these holes to the pond too.

    You mentioned using goats to get rid of the brush. I was taught that pigs will actually get rid of the roots as well. I know that some places acually have people that will let you rent their goats or pigs to do jobs like that if you don't want to keep the animals yourself. Good luck, either way.

    Nice work! Are you at all concerned about why you have those sink holes around the property?

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  8 месяцев назад +3

      The ponds dam is broken nearby and there may also be tunnels that were dug from a muskrat or some other animal making the water flow underground. Im planning on taking a closer look at the pond dam soon.

    Just curious why you didn't put some of the loose fill in the bottom of the sinkhole? great video I enjoy doing that kind of work

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  Год назад +3

      The main hole, I saw water running through it before from the pond dam thats broken. I guess I could have put the loose fill in but i figured packed dirt would have been better.

    Given all your equipment, have you considered a trailer to haul dirt?

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  8 месяцев назад +1

      Funny you mention that. I've been looking this week at a few different dump trailers. I dont know if I want a small off road one, or one big enough that I could haul the mini excavator in. It would definitely help around the property!

    Inflows into a ditch maybe you should put in a Swale so the waters directed towards the wash instead of the sinkholes

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  Год назад +1

      Good call. I want to see how it looks after a few rains and actually go down there during a heavy storm so I can see how the water sheds. Thanks for the suggestion on a swale!

    Do you plan to repair the red barn siding?

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  8 месяцев назад

      I think the barn is going to come down. Some of the posts are rotting and the rafters are rotted too. I think I'm going to take it down to the 30x50 concrete slab.

    Aren’t the sink holes caused by underground water? 🇨🇦❤️

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think they are from water underground because the dam on the nearby pond broke. There also may be tunnels from critters from the pond through the dam. I haven't had time to investigate. Where the dam is broken, the brush is THICK so its really hard to see.

  • @trippdouglas5596
    @trippdouglas5596 Год назад +3

    Wouldn't it be better to get rid of all that trash dirt and cinder blocks and stuff in the sinkhole and leave the good dirt where you need it? Just my observation

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  Год назад +3

      Yes, if they were just holes, and they may be just holes. But they may be from erosion from the pond dam, because I've seen water flowing through the main sinkhole before. So, just in case, I figured packed dirt would be better. Thanks!

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  Год назад

      Not sure. Someone mentioned possibly old horse graves. And it could also be erosion from the pond dam being broken but Im not really sure. They may come back but for now at least its safe to drive on. Thanks!

  • @mstrickk1
    @mstrickk1 Год назад

    Lots of sinkholes are created by burying debris. In a few years the hole you dug will become another sinkhole.

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  Год назад

      Thsts very possible. As long as I know where they are it's not a huge deal to me. The ones in the video were found when bushhogging for the first time and were dangerous. But yes, you are right. All of the debris we buried will settle, decompose, etc. Thanks!

  • @charleshanks6186
    @charleshanks6186 Год назад

    Sorry but you should have used all the loose fill to fill the sinkhole and then covered it with dirt it would have been easier and better but your place your life

    • @livingon80
      @livingon80  Год назад

      I was going to do that at first but the big sink hole had water running through it before. I figured packed dirt would be better than loose fill for erosion. I think all of these holes are from the dam on the pond above it being broken but I dont know yet. Loose fill may have been fine but I wanted to play it safe in case it was erosion. Thanks!
