It was so satisfying to watch Ralph get those stumps and large rocks out. I admire your dedication to the turtles who laid eggs in your gravel pile. Every spring I have snappers lay eggs on the soft areas on the edges of my driveway. This year was no exception. Right after I got the driveway box bladed the turtles came. Since then we have had a couple big rain events. Now I, like you, can't disturb the ruts along the edges! Great vides, GP. Cheers!
Good evening Michael! I watch them every year in the driveway by the marsh primarily. Sadly, I see mother nature at work - predators generally find them but I am hoping one of these years I will get to see them hatch. Have a great week!
They do indeed pack a punch GP. My coworker retired in 2016. Before retirement , he bought a kubota 23S, with a backhoe. He volunteered to put a septic tank in for me. And, I'm here to tell you he gotter done in 10 hours. I bought a concrete tank 5'x10'x5' deep. His little tractor didn't have any problems at all. Definitely little giants at work.
Outstanding backhoe therapy from your Great neighbor GP 😉😉👌👌👍👍More that 150 Hrs of backhoe therapy on mine and going strong Sir. So Yes in deed, sub compact tractors are OUSTANDING 💪👌👍😉Cheers 🍻🍻
great video GP! I'm on 5 wooded acres west of Calgary and have the BX23S. Saves my back when planting trees, digging out stumps, moving material. It's a beauty, my new 'vehicle' for retirement, and my daughter is still sad to lose her parking spot in the garage. Aha. It took me 30 years, but an incredible machine for 28K Can. Now collecting a number of implements that fit it (flail mower does not work). Decided on the snow push instead of the snow thrower, and the rough cut instead of the belly mower, (rough cut still has not come in after 12 months, supply chain issues!) And the Wallenstein chipper that runs off the PTO. Your videos help me make implement decisions, which ones are best for my situation. And the safety you demonstrate is commendable. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and sharing them.
Small tractors are reliable workhorses if used within their limit, taking your time and not overstressing the equipment. Demonstration of the correct procedure isn't needed, you just did it ^^ Glad to see Ralph depress that frontloader, not too many know about that trick. With frontloader elevated all the way, it puts weight on the rear wheels, and vice versa.
it's amazing what those little tractors can do. I have a 1025r and i have dug out some pretty decent stumps and rocks. It's slow, but sure beats a shovel!! lol You seem to have some pretty great neighbors out there!!
Job well done. The BX is a great machine. I put 400 plus hours on my BX backhoe over the 6 years I had it. Ralf would benefit from a mechanical thumb on his BX backhoe. Have a great day!
Good job on the stump Gord, these small machines can do a lot of work, I have a towable backhoe that I attach to the back of my tractor and I have taken out a lot of stumps you just have to realize what you have then take your time and do the job.
Hey Gord, Been watching your channel for 2 years plus and continue to enjoy your content. Thanks for sharing your adventures and neighborhood comradery. All the best.
This video does prove the point that a smaller and less expensive compact tractor can still do a great deal of work. Just needs more time to get the job done. Sometimes people buy more tractor than they really need for smaller acreage.
These small tractors are great. I could not operate my property without one of these guys. I was tempted to buy a larger 2306 but I am happy with my BX.
Great Job and very nice of Ralph! Seems like you have a nice network of folks to lean on up there. Ralph appears to be a smooth operator with the backhoe and can tell it wasn't his first stump removal.
Hi Gord, we put a cage around where our snappers lay their eggs to try to protect them from the raccoons and skunks. Square frame made with 2x4 and chicken wire over top, with small holes cut out for any baby turtles that hatch to get out.
My wife bought me the same tractor with backhoe this last Christmas. I love it… so easy to get in and out of smaller places and super handy. The backhoe is not super powerful, but can get quite a bit done if you have the time to work on a big stump like that.
Well done Gord! The backhoe is an expensive attachment but a very handy tool! Glad you have a neighbor so close with one. He did a great job with the BX!
How's she goin'? Way to go Ralph!! He did a nice job digging out those stumps. Grading that off needs the box blade for sure eh. Some big rocks in there GP! Thanks for sharing and take care!!!
Hi Gord! Ralph’s little BX and backhoe got ‘er done. And in short order. Looks like he also poked a hole in your Canadian Shield! LOL! Thanks for sharing!
The loader bucket can level out the ground it take PRACTICE and feel of where your bucket is you can feel it running most heavy equipment when you get a lot of operator experience stick time
I have a kioti cs2510 sub compact with a backhoe. It can do the job. The biggest draw back is having to get off an on to move the tractor around. I have a cheaper excavator now. It is a 1ton unit. It has more power and better at clean up. The tractor has a front grappler so that's what I use to move everything. Each machine has its uses.
Great video Gord, Ralph did a great job with the smaller unit and didn't abuse it just worked at it till it gave the roots a boost out of there. You did good with the tractor you have and will get it all cleaned up and safe for the winter wider swinging. It's great how you all work together up there and help each other out of tight situations. Keep up the great work and videos, stay safe and have fun too. Fred.
Gord, I dug out a hemlock stump that was about 30 inches across and I put 3 and a half hours on my B2920 to finally break it loose. Once I got it out of the hole I could only roll it, I couldn't lift it. They will do it though! Tough tractors!
Thanks PG. I was pretty impressed and learned a good lesson - I think he has a good appreciation for the limits of the machine and was able to operate it well against those boulders and stumps. Thanks for the comments - I will pass them along!
I have turtles constantly laying eggs in my yard, what a wonderful thing to see. I have a BX myself and it’s an amazing little machine. The model your neighbor has is a BX 23s. The backhoe units have a different numbering system to denote the backhoe model with the factory subframe (unless of course this a custom built machine). Thanks for the video
If I was your neighbor Ralph, I would have made every attempt to keep the dirt off of your driveway. Yes, I have OCD. I hope he doesn't read this comment... lol
I have the same backhoe on my BX and ill tell you you could hang the machine upside down and flip it over with it haha its not an excavator but they are very powerful for the size!
Thanks for sharing. Fun to watch. Those BXs are very tough and strong little machines. Had mine for 13 years and it did everything I asked it to do. Have to say I do like my new B2601 better, though.😁
Nice work! I had a similar size stump to remove and I only had a hand shovel and sawzall. I used my pick-up to drag the stump into the woods. It took little over two hours and a sore body! Best Regards, Jay

Great video Gord .!! Isn't it amazing how much power hydraulics has? Super job by Ralph getting those stumps removed ! Good job on the clean-up as well. Cheers !
Morning Bob and thanks! That is an excellent point - I took out a couple of the huge ones already but I think i will get the rest out too now, and backfill with gravel - great advice- thanks again!
From Australia - We have the 4 in 1 FEL over here I think as the only option which I find pretty useless as it's tiny and doesn't lift heavy or high however after digging out about 30 decent sized stumps I can say that the backhoe is quite capable all be it a little slow.
Wow! I did not think the BX would be able to do that, especially with two trees intertwined like that over and between the big rocks. I always learn something from watching your videos.
I've owned a BX-25 for about 15 years. It's done a ton of work for me, my neighbors, and church. Where can you get a compact machine that weighs about a ton and can lift 500lbs with the front bucket and did 6-feet deep with the back hoe? I refer to it as a little pit bull.
Wow. Thanks for sharing. I am considering buying a BX with backhoe but I was concerned it was too small to do a job like that in a reasonable amount of time. 43 minutes isn’t bad at all.
I think it is pretty good too. I think as my neighbour mentioned to me, you just work at the speed of the ability of the machine but it certainly surprised me. Good luck with your decision!
Don't be surprised if you don't see anything hatch from those turtle's eggs. Turtles will do test runs before they lay their main batch of "real" eggs. We're bit south and west of your place and turtles will trek in from the swamp and lay eggs in our driveway. I've never seen a result from that.
Great video as always! I was going to comment on the video where you tried to remove those stumps with your grapple, that I thought you gave up on it too early. I removed a larger stump (white pine) with the bucket on my tractor by coming further away from the stump, finding the roots, and then breaking them where they were smaller. Of course I was able to go around the whole stump also. But having watched this video and seeing the large rocks that were involved, I completely agree with you that the backhoe was the way to go! 😁
LOL! I knew there would be rocks - always so many under there, DA. I kind of envy many folks I see who dig through nice dirt and earth on their channels with no rocks. Man - I'd like to know how that feels. :)) Have a great day DA!
I have been pulling and clearing stumps for many years . I am sure you heard the saying work smarter not harder . So for the next time you need to pull a stump there is a cheaper way . Note if the stump it does not work the same but I will offer you both . A year old or 2 stump drill a hole in the stump as many as you like split it a little nothing big just play around good not pour gas in the holes of the stump let it set 30 minutes or so . About 7 Pm add a little more gas then at 8 Pm light it and have a good night . The stump will but down below the ground and burn the roots as well killing it so it will not grow another tree there. Fresh cut stump . You said you're self no one there likes to burn pine you can't give it away. Use that pine to have a camp fire . Make the campfire around the stump you want gone. The heat from the hot pine burning will dry out the stump and will soon burn then again have a nice night it will burn the same way . Depending on the size of the stump depends on how much gas you will use but I promise you that it will be a lot less gas then running the tractor plus you will be able to sit out by the fire no matter what the season is or the weather is and enjoy the night . I have done this for a long time many years some stumps took 7 days to burn but you never have to worry about it ever getting out of control .
Gord, Very nice job. That backhoe did great with some pretty big boulders and the stubborn stumps. Please tell Ralph thank you for his contribution in making this video. 👍 I noticed you wearing your headphones when you were moving the stumps. I know you have a radio. Is the LX whine loud in the cab too much to listen to the radio and require hearing protection? Thanks, Dan
I'm sure GP has been shopping for a BH77! I have a Lx2610 like GP and I'm hesitating between a backhoe attachment on my primary tractor or another tractor only to dig...a BX23s...
Gord, great video as always. Wondering why you didn’t have the grapple on to clean up. Would have been able to pick up the rocks and the wood and separate all the debris out and then put the rocks in the bottom of the hole and fill to make more solid. Just asking. Keep the videos coming look forward to more.
Great question Tom - I did it afterwards ( last video out of sequence) temp for now and will fix it up later when I have the box blade back and some gravel to finish it. I think i will have to remove a few more rocks and leave the smaller ones in there. Cheers!
Hey Gord. Where is your stump bucket? LOL. Are you waiting for GWT, like me, for Courtney to get his heavy duty stump bucket out of production so we can buy it? Nice job moving the stump.
Gord, is that a 60” bucket? I’ve watched almost all your videos so I apologize if you already covered this. Also, I finally bought a LX3310. Your videos have me a real appreciation of the LX series. Thanks for your outstanding content.
Good morning Matt and congratulations! You must be excited. Yes, it came with a 54" heavy duty bucket but I chose the wider "Light Duty 60" - hope you get it soon!
Great vid Gord! Question, have you ever used snatch blocks and winch rope to remove stumps? Works great depending on the size of the stump and the size of your tractor.
Good day John! Not for stumps but I have for bringing down a tree that was leaning and close to the cabin. Works great - certainly increases your pulling power dramatically but two things I found - 1) these smaller tractors such as my LX2610, don't weigh alot, even with 500 lbs on the back for ballast so I found the tires would eventually loose traction in the gravel, and 2) lots of time to get out several snatch blocks, lines, cables etc, setup etc and a bit of time to cleanup and put away afterwards. Certainly better than not having anything, but alot of effort and time. But effective for sure. Cheers John!
That was THE dumbest reason for removing a stump, lol. With that theory, you will have to remove ALL the trees 2 feet off the sides of the driveways, and, or, send everyone to driving school, lolol. Oh well, your property, GET 'ER DONE!!
LOL! I have to respectfully disagree, but love that you offered your own opinion. Always welcome on this channel good sir. But hands down, I don't do this kind of work for no reason. We can agree to disagree. ( i hate cliches but...) Thanks for tuning in and leaving the comment. Be well. Best of success and thanks for tuning in! Happy Holidays to you and your family. :))

Cheers!
HA I could have dug the stump up with your big tractor loader
Hey Gord. Where is your stump bucket? LOL. Are you waiting for GWT, like me, for Courtney to get his heavy duty stump bucket out of production so we can buy it? Nice job moving the stump.
LOL! I had it on loan back then for a short time. But it would have come in handy for sure Jim! Good luck with Courtney! :))
Hi Gord. just curious as to why you didn't use your ROOT grapple to move the stump and boulders? It works very well for me. Cheers.
So there is a shortage of snapping turtles in Canada eh?
@@GPOutdoors Thanks for the response Gordon, Cheers to you, and remember to keep your stick on the ice!
@@GPOutdoors - Happy holidays!!
Y'all don't understand mechanical advantage very well
Those rocks remind me of my property, the BX is a great tractor for most things :)

Nice! You'll find it comes in handy quite often William! Have a great day!
