Yeah! Golden Kamuy is extremly underrated. I don't know if it is marketing problem or what but since people don't watch it, therefore they don't see reactions. 😕

sometimes it really does feel like all 20 or so Golden Kamuy fans are just standing in a circle high fiving each other every time it gets a mention.
The problem is that, golden kamuy went under the radar for some reason. I only happened to find it by chance.
@@captainkatsura26 same here actually... it was total happenstance that I managed to pick it out at random when I was looking for something to watch. I knew nothing about it at first, but I liked the look of the main characters, and I was totally blindsided by how good it was. but the fact that it's so under the radar is why I keep mentioning it as much as possible... so that hopefully it can catch more of an audience.

oh, you put Asirpa in the thumbnail to entice Golden Kamuy fans and it worked, I got excited immediately... I agree, I think Golden Kamuy is severely underrated! and I say that knowing that it's at least popular enough in Japan to have gotten four whole seasons already, and a fifth is definitely coming. I think the story is just so particular to Japan, and specific Japanese history, that it might be harder for westerners to immediately relate to the setting. but it's legitimately so good, which is why you get people like me who are diehards for it anyway.
it's nuts to me, because it's probably one of the most entertaining shows to watch a person react to... it kind of has it all between the plot, humor, twists, and pure wtf moments. I think people don't give it enough of a chance, so they never really get to those moments... but if the broader anime watching community knew what _happens_ in this show, it'd be way more notorious.
I'm still hoping for a reaction to those last two endings, and maybe the full song of the 4th OP? it popped up in my recommended videos just recently, and it reminded me of just how good it is, so now I'm listening to that and the Bravern OP like non-stop. so like, that's how I'm doing if anyone was wondering about my mental state.😅
EDIT: also, I think you actually do a fine job pronouncing Golden Kamuy, it's kinda said how it's spelled, so don't worry too much about that!

JAM Project is a group made of insanely famous people, among them there are Hironobu Kageyama known for the DBZ openings or Hiroshi Kitadani known for One Piece's We Are or the more recent opening

Seirei no Moribito opening. I mean damn. It's L'Arc en Ciel. One of the greatest Japanese bands of all time. The anime is criminally underrated as well. The art and animation especially the fight scenes are all top notch.
Speed Grapher American opening. The original is a Duran Duran song which they didn't get the rights for in North America

Moribito: Guardian of the Sacred Spirit // (everyone knows of Tsunade in Naruto, but there's another really bad'ss older woman, and she's the main character too, "the female battousei", "the female rurouni kenshin", Balsa, the child prodigy of the "King's Spears" in spear combat, super top-tier spear combat choreography, having killed thousands of men (aka, "Battousei"), she now seeks redemption, by vowing to save the same number of men that she has killed (yikes! that's a lot, lol)
Tenjou Tenge: really good martial arts anime, ultimately trying to determine which is superior: ninjutsu (magical martial arts) vs taijutsu (physical martial arts), along with quite the emotional drama and comedy, along with really good action/fights, and yes, lots of ecchi/fanservice too, lol, especially with the Natsume Sisters, grins
Eden of the East: really good older anime that's been forgotten: various talented people in the world, are mysteriously given near unlimited cash, for them to change or make the world and humanity, better
.Hack: one of the older/original isekei, going into a fantasy gaming world...
Witch Hunter Robin: I've not seen it at all yet, but I do know of it, and that's it's suppose to be good

Onegai Teacher is definitely an extremely underrated one. I also only heard of it because my mom (for whatever reasons) has a full DVD collection of it. Ben-To is definitely a good one as well. Song is lit.

"Princess Principal" is great, steampunk Britain spy mystery/thriller. For those that watch it know that the episodes are intentionally NOT in chronological order.
Love Princess Principal. Luke's seen Made in Abyss so it might be a good fit for him.

Bang Brave Bang Bravern is destined to be underrated because it has no manga or light novel as the source material... the anime is a completely original story. but it's SO GOOD.

@@GOTGames I would be so happy if you checked out Bravern... watching it weekly this season was a whole experience. it has a twist partway through that takes it from bombastic fun, to something truly next level. I hope someday you can experience it... I certainly won't be moving on from it anytime soon.
You know why it has 0 attention? It's a mech anime...that's why. It's sad that mecha show are slowly dying.....

like, Lewis Smith's whole thing is that he's a huge mecha fan, and then he gets to be the robot. so from that point forward, his whole goal is to be the best giant robot that he can possibly be. he always wanted to be a hero, and protect people, and do all the things that this genre taught him were important. Lewis found this genre comforting when he was dealing with grief and hardship in his own life... and as Bravern, he can comfort other people in the same way.
also, when mecha fans watch this show, they get to see what the creators think of the fans of their work. and they made Lewis Smith such an amazing person... it's actually really touching. it just feels like there's a mutual appreciation, and all sides are represented by Lewis Smith. it's impossible not to love this whole show and what it's doing.

Feels like newer fans didn't even know about Brave series anymore which is sad.
Kekkai Sensen songs are so underrated that people only know the Ending 1 song out of the 5 songs in the anime ( I say 5 coz that one OST is an absolute banger!! Taisei Iwasaki and Hannah Macklin's "World Goes Round")
I'm a big fan of "Hello World". Kekkai Sensen is a fantastic series overall though.

I gotta say that the Pumpkin Scissors opening is one of the most underrated songs, probably cuz not many people watched the anime. But it's sung by Yoko Takahashi who did A Cruel Angel's Thesis from Evangelion. Never seen anyone react to it, much less talk about it lol.
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (and it's subsequent seasons and OVAs) is a super underrated and often overlooked series. It has several openings that are incredibly visually striking that you would never be able to forget once you've seen them.
Space Brothers OP 2 was featured in the video you reacted to, but it actually has 8 openings in total. It's one of my favourite series of all time, and barely anybody out there ever reacts to it. I think it's a hidden gem that a lot of people are missing out on.
Zetsubou Sensei openings were done by the same people behind Madoka Magica witches.
SZS is extremely well-known - it was a staple on /a/ for like a decade.
"Zoomers haven't heard of it" and "underrated" are not the same thing.

You could put out a poll on the general internet even back then with all the multi-season shows of that time, and I guarantee you majority of people who vote on it won't vote for it, and a large number of them won't even have heard of it. It's presence on the most prominent social media platforms is effectively dead, and was always very dead even back in the day. It's my favourite series of all time, you can bet I've tried searching for it all this time. How many people out there know that it got an all-new bluray release in recent years with English subtitles that cover even Kumeta's scribblings on the blackboards? Doesn't help that the manga never got fully localized. Using /a/ as an example is an extremely extremely biased perspective.

When i saw outlaw star in the thumbnail i smiled. Loved that anime as a kid when it played on toonami on weekdays in like 2000. So much nostalgia. He needs to check out way more old school anime. 80s 90s and 2000s was golden age

You’re correct. I’ve heard Kamuy is popular in Japan, but so much in the West. Similar to other franchises like Lupin III.
You need to check out any & all *Record of Lodoss War* openings.
So much yes! It’s hard to get pass the more recent stuff with the younger anime audience, but some of us older fans would love to see reactions to our old favorites too.
I haven’t seen the sequels but the intro and ending for the first Lodoss war is great.

GOLDEN KAMUY MENTIONED 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
In my opinion, a major reason there are a lot of underrated songs is that they were attached to underwhelming shows. Not ALL of them, but some great songs go unheard since the premise of a show is not appealing to the masses compared to 'mainstream' shows. On the contrary, a Mid-Level song/artist can become a household name because it is attached to a well-received show. There are just as many of those.
Some underrated OP's attached to some underrated shows:
Gunsmith Cats, and by extension Riding Bean (careful, Riding Bean is quite.....graphic.)
Those Who Hunt Elves (possibly the first isekai I ever watched)
Tenchi Universe OP (EN and JP versions exist)
Excel Saga (one of the most underrated shows IMO)
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (basically all the Two-Mix music)
Jikuu Tenshou Nazca
My favorite of these is Outlaw Star's OP. It really matches the vibe of the main character. Also, the Caster gun is an amazing weapon, with a ton of different spell effects stored in its bullets.

I would not call Guilty Grown, Clannad or Gurren Laggan underrated AT ALL. They are quite highly regarded.

You should check out Macross Frontier Songs by May'N, and all Soukyuu no Fafner series OP/EDs by Angela. For older anime, check out Noir and Madlax songs.
I also noticed that music channels tend to not have that many subs despite being popular. I think it might be because most people stream their songs on spotify or other streaming platforms, not yt. SiM for example has 1,8 mil monthly listeners on spotify.

Kokia's Opening and Ending in Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, but the OST was also worth attention. From Fairy Gone, I had a bigger weakness for the first ending because it started with a great wow factor.

Rokka no Yuusha's openings are still one of my favourites. I remember that I really wanted an anime continuation.
Here are my recommendations for anime with songs I think you should listen to: Bubblegum Crisis, Kimgure Orange Road, Marmalade Boy, and Yoroiden Samurai Troopers. The 2nd One Punch Man opening sounds better than the first one.

@@UguuUng Right, but he's only listened to a few seconds of Bubblegum Crisis music, probably nothing from Kimagure Orange Road, maybe a few seconds from Marmalade Boy in one of the 90s anime compilations, and I'm almost positive nothing from Yoroiden Samurai Troopers.
Orange Road 100%, loved the 80s vibe the show gave me!

Megumi Hayashibara is a legend, it's criminal how underrated she is nowadays, considering how HUGE she was in the 80's, 90's, and even the early 00's!

i always feel like there are just really good anime missing from those underrated lists. and lots of then are fairly "recent" too. i'm always curious at how they come up with those lists.
My underrated picks are the openings of Gatchaman CROWDS and Gatchaman CROWDS insight.
Handyman Saitou is the anime you were looking for at 12:20 Though there's also that one anime called Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle that starts with the protagonist fixing roofs...

Ooo Terraformers is a fun one, so is Kekkai Sensen (Blood Blockade Battlefront), and of course the two fate shows in this.

Arslan Senki, Wolf's Rain, Samurai Deeper Kyo. I love their openings.
I need to recommend the opening to Bang Brave Bang Bravern!!!!! in my opinion it's underrated because it's an original anime (not based on a manga or light novel) so it didn't have a pre-existing fan base. but yeah the OP has been SO stuck in my head, I've literally been humming it for weeks now, and I don't mind one bit!
also the anime itself has literally carved out a space inside my skull and it lives there now.
One of the greatest anime of Winter 2024!! Also one of the most BONKERS., as far as I am concerned.

Did not expect Outlaw Star on a list like this, but then I guess it did come out the same year as Cowboy Bebop and Trigun. But I figure any show that was on Toonami must have gotten at least a bit of traction at the time.

I'm really hoping they get brought back to do the opening/endings for Dorohedoro season 2 whenever that gets released. their sound was so completely attached to the first season, and it fit so perfectly... I'm just really invested in the idea of them returning to do that again.

6:49 Luke! Space Brothers is absoluty amazing And I really think you should give it a watch! I've watched hundreds of anime since I was like 10 years old.
Space Brothers is my #1 all time Favorite one! It's Openings also slap and there are 8 of them - but the show - it is truly something else. No other show gives you the same feeling of hope for the future like Space Brothers. It is also really highly rated by everyone who watches it, but it has a small viewership since it is not a battle show nor is it a Slice of Life - it is purely a drama show (with a bit of Sci fi).
Pls Consider watching it and reacting to the Openings, you won't be disappointed.

Phantasy Star was a rpg series that started on the NES think. Phantasy Star Online was the break out game for the franchise as far as i know but really only experience with the series is watching speedruns.

4:36 The name of the anime is Seven Deadly Sins and you should absolutely react to all the OPs sometime. The series itself is really good. Some had issues with one of the seasons looking shaky, but the story was still good overall. Anyway there are 5 seasons, 3 movies and a spin off that just started recently called the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
8:22 Man Magi: Kingdom of Magic is one of those anime that kind of got shafted. The anime ended in kind of an odd spot. After that was a spin off with a side character that also ended weirdly. Then just nothing. It's still a good watch, but go in understanding you're going to be left with a lot of questions.
8:37 Oh mate. Hajime no Ippo (or Fighting Spirit as its known in the west) is a absolute classic. You got a taste of it there, but yes its a boxing anime and it kicks ass. They really lean into the sport from every angle. The difference between in boxing and out boxing. Training techniques. How boxers starve themselves to get ready for the weigh ins. The mindset of different opponents. It'll even go into the corruption some foreign boxers can face going to different countries. It's a show that really loves the sport and will help you love it as well.
9:44 Outlaw Star is one of those bangers you should really watch. It isn't a long anime. Only one season, but its a fun ride all the same. I'll not spoil anything, but there are some characters i think you'd get a kick out off. Also yes the intro is fire.
Not a bad list overall. Though I think Baki Season 1's op Beastful by Granrodeo should have been on there. It, and the series in general, is just fantastic. It's one of those instant-adds to the playlist and would probably make you want to go pump iron after seeing it. Although thats just Baki in a nutshell. Hajime no Ippo gets people into boxing. Baki gets people into MMA and body building. Hehe
I think in one of the big compilation videos (or even the quiz) there was an anime with Mononoke in the title that wasn't Mononoke-hime, but I don't know if it's this same one. I just remember thinking at the time "That is not Mononoke-hime."

This is great. I like the opening theme for Fushigi Yuugi, the ending theme, and Star from one of the OAVs. Their are good character songs too. Tasuki's theme comes to mind.
I never hear anyone talk about Tatakae Otaking from Otaku no Video. It's a really good song. Also Ai wa Boomerang from Urusei Yatsura 2 Beautiful Dreamer, Melancholy no Kiseki from Urusei Yatsura 4: Lum Forever, Moon Revenge from the Sailor Moon R movie, and Kimi wa Hero from Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler.

Finally someone who also remembers the opening such a banger man especially with the narration at the start
- Blood+ (3) is definitely worth checking out. All 4 openings are great and quite unique.
- Finally a list where Jormungand (16) and Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis (27) also appears. I knew Luke would like them. Both have banger openings (former has 2, later has 1).
- The Ping Pong The Animation (28) is great and won Animation of the Year award at the Tokyo Anime Award Festival in 2015, but I don't think a lot of people watched it just because of the style. - Even though it's really good and actually quite deep.
- Yuru Camp's (39) openings and the anime in general have a chill and fun vibe. A cute slice of life to watch.
Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (Daily Lives of High School Boys - 47) is a must watch comedy. A hilarious slice of life anime with non stop laughing.
