Forgot to mention: Anything with runner or hinges (dresser, sideboard, etc) - I'd personally invest in quality (solid wood, if possible) if they are used often, as they also tend to hold value and quite easy to resell or refinish. If you don't want to invest a lot of cash, thrift shops and secondhand are a great way to find quality dressers or sideboards with solid bones. If they're only for show and used to store 'junk' then a cheaper particleboard can do the job.
Hi Reynard! Would love to see a video about combining woods. For example light oak flooring with dark wood furniture to get that cozy feeling.
Yes please, I love the look and want to incorporate it in my space
I simply LOVE your background composition! Simple, modern and timeless.
Thank You!
Appreciate the explanation of how to know if a sofa is a good one or not. Often a reupholsterer can slightly change the style of a sofa or chair. If you have one with rolled arms they can often change that to simple straight arms, for example. Or they can do a bench cushion rather than having 2 or 3 single cushions. Just ask. And not all reupholsters do not always remove the old fabric, this is called "stripping" the old nasty stuff off.
I recently learned that good sheets does not always mean the ones with the highest thread count.
Yeah thread count is often misleading and used as marketing gimmick. The quality of fabric (fibres used) is more important.
I've had the twin, full, and queen sized Zinus folding bed frames. They are VERY sturdy, don't squeak, and are easy to move. I also appreciate that the legs are slightly inset so I'm not banging my toes on them.
my grandma always said: never cheap out on shoes & matresses. youre spending your time in either of them.
Your videos are SO HELPFUL!!!! Thank you!
Thanks for the tips! come perfect time as I moving out for the first time and trying to analyze and research on what to focus on when moving to my space. Small space, 2 rooms with only two outdoor light source... that's is a challange :)
I can feel a great concern from this content. Appreciate it so much, Reynard. 🥰🥰
I’m always happy when you post new video
Hi Reynard! Great video and valuable advice.
For the past few years I've bought my bedlinen at H&M. The price is reasonable and the quality is pretty good.
Would you ever recommend layering a rug on top of wall to wall carpet, if trying to delineate an office space in an open living room?
Stellar content as always 🔥
V useful tips! Thanks for sharing on this topic!
Lovely video, thanks for sharing 🥰👍
I think it also depends how you look at your sofa. To me it is actually a thing that I would like to replace relatively soon as I get bored by it (because of constant use), so I would not splurge. Also, my cats like to “edit” the style with their nails…
Fantastic thank you so much!
Thanks for the advice
Hello Mr. Lowell, I love your videos so much! You have impeccable taste. Could you share the name of your living room walls paint color, please? I want to copy everything you’ve done. It’s the most perfectly beautiful space I’ve seen. Thank you so much👍🏼
Thanks for this
We get fooled easily by ads... Videos.. U hv guided us.... To be cautious
I love using natural fibers but I wanted to warn people about wool on floors. My friends are renting a flat with wool carpeting and they have to fight with wool eating moths. Carpets have holes everywhere :/
Do you have a link to the "splurge" rug you showed at the end of the living room section? It looks really nice and fits the style I am going for with my apartment.
They're from Armadillo & Co - they make really good rugs but are expensive.
How did you frame the wall art? I don't think you used a traditional frame with glass. Would you mind share?
What bedside table is that with the open shelf on top and a drawer?
Do you need to have bed side tables?
Never buy upholstered furniture secondhand because of bedbugs. Even secondhand furniture that is not upholstered should be thoroughly investigated before purchasing for the same reason.
Maybe only buy from a reliable source.
As a member of the MillerKnoll (Herman Miller + Knoll) North American ancillary team, I loved seeing our Don't Leave Me table from HAY in this video! It's a super versatile piece that can serve multiple purposes (End table, layered with a lower round coffee table, nightstand, etc.) And it's a great price point! 👍
It is not true that a good matress needs to be expensive. I have an exellent middle priced foam matress with a good test review from a rather trustworthy testing magazine. Cheap foam matresses can be comfy but they have a short life, maybe okay for children due to their light weight. My matress is denser, heavier and I think it will do fine. I don't think that gimmicks like springs, memory foam or latex are really beneficial.
Expensive does not always equal good and I agree. That's why I said invest in a quality mattress, which if you're buying a middle priced mattress with good review then that'd count as investing in a quality item, instead of cheaping out on it.
I know a few people who only focus on what is cheap. It’s a turn off. Good not cheap, cheap not good.
