Hey everyone today I am in the UH-1 Huey which is one of the Eagle Dynamics produced helicopters in DCS. The split Caucasus map that runs on Enigma's Cold War server has relatively recently added at sea targets. I've been wanting to attack them for a while now but never really got the opportunity. We'll I took the Huey out after checking the map and seeing some ships and an oil platform were available to strike. Here's how it went!

I had an issue with the track files and ended up completely uninstalling DCS. When I installed the latest version (combined Beta & Stable), all my track files work now.
Just remember to back up your keybinds.
Great to see you can drop SF on ships, that's awesome and great flying in the Huey btw!
Thank you! I feel really rusty with the Huey but I love the lighter weight feeling it has over the Hip. Did the reinstall fix multiplayer trackfiles for you? I have no issues with the single player tracks working currently but it’s just when I film something on ECW, it will crash. I’ve seen it where it’s crashed on other servers too so it must be something related to being online.
@@ryu1940 I didn't have that problem, for me the track files would crash the program regardless if it was a local game or MP game.
Reinstalling it was drastic and yes, it did fix the problem for me.
Note. I also saw some improvement on the performance side too.
I'm running a lower end system, i7 7700, GTX1070, 48gig RAM (2 x 8 and 2 x 16 RAM chips)

The controlability issues with the huey are from control saturation. It isn't meant/able to fly 140 knots.
Oh yeah I don’t have problems with that. I meant more about how I do my landings I still need to dial in how my control inputs work together and to understand where the helicopter is going to want to go. I feel super comfortable in the Hip in that regard but need to fly the Huey more to feel out its limits.

@ryu1940 Well, it doesn't have SAS, so it is inherently unstable. You just have to fly it often and get comfortable with its mannerisms. I don't fly it because it's slow and can't carry shit.
@@blackhatch46 oh yeah I used to fly this thing non stop years ago and got really good with it just need to spend time back with it like you say and get used to it again.

It was that damn roll as you came in to land :D That was the tip that got me to be able to land more consistantly
oh man I am glad that helped and yeah I have seen it trip up a lot of people and all it takes in most cases is a simple explanation of what is happening so people know what to guard against. That is awesome man I'm glad you could land it now more consistently !
I can never find anything meaningful to do on multiplayer servers with helos, it just seems there’s miles & miles to fly between missions/objectives. It’d actually be super helpful if you could create and upload a tutorial on how you tackle this server, finding objectives, the comms menu etc. Thanks for the upload.

Some of the numbers have been tweaked for some things because it is a little old now (this was before the Hip was allowed to carry recon and before the Hind could carry standard troops etc) but that should get you started with doing troop drops.

VNE was 130 knots when I flew it, anything above 100 was like reentering earths atmosphere!

Let me just state that ive flown the Huey since '13, and i am intimately familiar with it. And oh man in the start of the video, those engine instruments are screaming for attention!
Why’s that? As long as you don’t go over the exhaust gas temp redline you can jet around like that indefinitely in the Huey in DCS lol.

That is awesome to hear! Welcome to the channel. My next video should be more in line with my older type of videos that are more like a documentary during one multiplayer session on the cold war server. Luckily I found a track that could work so I'm cutting the video now.
How come your dash is not shaking apart going 140knots a the beginning? There is a little bit of shake. I can't fly above 120knots because I can't read the instrumentation with the shake hahaha!
Oh you can adjust the shaking in the special
Options for the Huey. I think by default it was 50% and I don’t recall what I reduced it to. I think I reduced down to 25% because it was making me motion sick before lol
@@ryu1940 Holy cow I never thought to do that. All this time I thought I couldn't go faster than 120kn otherwise the damn thing would shake apart haha
When you are doing this mission are there enemy fighters in the game too>?
Yes there are usually 72 people or so on including enemy fighters

@@ryu1940I guess I dont have a preference over that, what I like the most is no background music and the chill commentary. Maybe a mix of first person and some sprinkles of cool cinematics shots here and there is the sweet spot.
ah yeah that is good feedback thank you! I have to wait on the cinematics until the MP tracks are fixed then it will be nice to sprinkle those in again.

Yeah 100% now for me on ECW a month or two ago I was able to view some on ECW and on other servers but now they all seem broken. Single player tracks work like a charm though.
@@ryu1940 yeap, i can confirm that. try to make a video of my Hind sortie in ECW and Grayflag, it keep crashing into desktop when i try to open the replay trk file.

@@ryu1940Huey isn’t made for 140 knots lol. Look at your EGT, Torque and Gas Producer. Redlining or even above. Your your Blade RPM is dropping too. Poor maintainance dude has to disassemble the whole thing and replace things 😂
@@mrpawno4955 lol yeah I watch the EGT to make sure we don’t catch fire but I cruised like that for 30 miles. It’s a good thing the repair crew in DCS can fix any problem, any aircraft in 170 seconds lol

They made some changes to the flight model and engine performance and it seems silly now.
