My friends dad was an underwater welder. He would get contracted to work on Dams in the area. Said there are Catfish down at the bottom of dams that could easily swallow your arm or leg and hold you down.
A guy we went to school with, his dad told us of a time in the Tennessee River just below the dam when the water level was very low, they would wade out to these water pools where large catfish were laying down and put a rope through the fishes mouth and gill, guys on the bank would pull it in. Once a catfish closed it’s mouth on the guys arm and swam off with him and drowned him like he was nothing.

There are catfish that can grow to 15ft in length. The wels catfish. I personally have seen one in a French river eat a adult duck, that had a head at least 18" across. Don't know how long it was but it looked like a monster.

Back in the 80s or 90s I think, a guy wanted to go diving in the Kanawha river in Charleston, West Virginia. He apparently went down to the bottom, but came up in a panic. Said it was hard to see, but saw the mouth of a catfish big enough to swallow a man headfirst. That's the story I was told.
I'm not sure what you're entailing....but in America, native Catfish can get quite large. You can find videos of people catching them that are just stupid big. I've also seen a video of a Boston chef saying the Channel Catfish was invasive....only to look it up and find that it occurs naturally in Boston waters...like most of America...

I've also seen a video of a Boston chef saying the Channel Catfish was invasive....only to look it up and find that it occurs naturally in Boston waters...like most of America...
@@theshade919 yeah but in America they at least have predators usually. The issue is when they are introduced to somewhere where they don't have predators, then they'll just eat everything and cause damage to the ecosystem.
