What an excellent review and video overall. Really enjoyed it. The only issue I have is that now I will forever see "binoculars" every time I look at the exhaust button... :D
Almost perfect. Love the manual may be Vette can also offer one as it’s arch enemy is still doing it. I think these bodies are a little wide but that seems to be a thing these days, otherwise perfection. Is that a closed road at beginning of video, that was great driving.
Alright Brian. Another great review… 718 Cayman GTS 4.0, Evora GT, 992 S. Pls rank in terms of the car you’d buy for the street and a few track days. 😎
Brian - maybe this is what you meant, but seems to me that if they ditched the 7th gear, they could have 5 shorter gears and a decidedly longer 6th gear for fuel efficiency. Would silence the critics about long gearing in Porsches. Just found you. Great content and kudos on your defense of three pedals!
Thanks, Geoff! There are plenty of things they could do, but I think that the seven speed set up here keeps a reasonable separation between the Carrera S and something like a GT3 Touring.
When launching in the manual, what rev level have you found is most comfortable for smooth engagement? Or do you refrain from launching to protect the transmission & clutch?
Just to say. I love my Chrono clock on my 992 as it reminds me I have the Sport Exhaust system and it just looks Cool. Sort of why I still love my hair on my head and well shaven. But that's just me!
I’m torn between this and the GTS 4.0. I ordered the GTS and waiting for allocation. Looking for a proper sports car for 70% street/ 30% track. Not sure if I made the right choice. 😂

Appreciate your feedback as I'm deciding between manual and PDK for 992 after several PDK cars. I do want more engagement this time. Cheers!
Sounds like you need to #savethemanuals this time! Anyone can learn to shift without the clutch. Been doing this for years, you just need to feel the moment the driveline disengages after you lift the throttle, the tranny can be shifted easily then up or down.
Yes, it’s a must have. Found the car to be too floaty without it. Personal opinion. If you’re going to drive the car hard, get it. If your going to cruise, save the money.

What are your thoughts and what cars would be in consideration?
Thanks Jonathan! Glad you found us. Hope you stick around! Plenty of considerations here. How will you use the cars? Which gen M3? Also, are you keeping the truck?
@@BrianMakse I’d keep the truck and drive it most days to work (30 min highway commute). The other two would be used for fun backroad drives (I live in the mountains, great twisty roads), going on date night, driving to the next town (1 hr away) once a month shopping etc. One thought I had was the new m3 to have a high horsepower, good on the interstate, nice interior, but still sporty enough to have fun in the twisters (fast car fast) or maybe the f80; paired with a miata (slow car fast). This would offer two fun cars with different experiences. I’ve also thought of spending the entire budget on a Carrera T or something that is a jack of all trades. Ideally I’d get comfortable commuting to work in more then just the truck, but I’m really sensitive to my image. I’m a healthcare provider in a small, poor, town and I don’t want to be seen as “the rich doctor” kind of thing. Why buy a PDK? I’m a huge manual fan and have owned too many to count and especially if you include my trucking business where they’re all 13-18 speed’s. I’ve owned both manual and now a PDK 992 and my hands on outlook is this, if you’re just going to street the car then, the manual is the better car for it’s more engaging, fun factor. If you’re ever going to do even the occasional weekend track session the PDK is the only choice. I don’t know anybody that goes to the track to continuously post the slowest lap time.
