Went back to watch some encore stages and wooyoung (and yunho!) is fully singing while giving seonghwa a piggyback ride, given all the discourse around encore vocals it’s nice to see him and yeosang demonstrating that they can in fact keep up with the rest of their group
Yes more wooyoung vocal appreciation!! As an wooyoung biased atiny that’s been here for years one of my greatest pleasures has been watching him improve as vocalist and get more parts in songs that showcase his naturally beautiful voice and his range. It’s just so nice to see the acknowledgment and appreciation for the many aspects of his vocal abilities that often get overlooked. Also to corroborate the answer highnote speculation portion of the video in the og dance practice video sent by the choreographers the dance formation has both stand ins for wooyoung and jongho standing off to the sides miming the highnotes so it’s basically confirmed that it is in fact wooyoung. Several atiny (including myself) having been saying this for years 🫡 so thanks for spreading the word it’s just ITS SO GOOD
I literally always thought he was the lead vocalist because his voice is so distinct it made me think he got more lines than he does and also how he shares lines with jongho
me: trying to focus wooyoung's deja vu fan cam: attempts at hypnotizing me (jokes aside, I love love love this series and this video !! and wooyoung's voice is so lovely ... it feels like a summer breeze)
Another top tier analysis! I feel a newfound appreciation for Wooyoung’s vocals here, that answer high note suddenly makes SO MUCH more sense. I also noticed some of the lines you picked out were ones that had always felt like they added that *something* to Ateez’s songs, definitely something Wooyoung deserves more credit for. A little surprised you didn’t mention how visibly he has been known to strain his voice live, but he doesn’t seem to do that so much these days thankfully. (The clip at 8:23 you can clearly see his neck straining to push the notes out) I also can’t stop finding it funny how Ateez + lipsync is so messy, but then it also shows how they’re used to performing not only their choreographies, but vocals, live. We stan “But THAT’s a discussion for later” indeed it isss, looking forward to the next analysis!
Wooyoung definitely does strain for some of his notes, but I don't think it's been too egregious (especially recently). Might be that the bar for K-pop vocals is super low or the fact that I spent too much time around untrained tenors in high school, but I'm willing to overlook a little.
Many ATINYs sleep on Wooyoung's vocals. One of the reasons I joined the fandom was because of Wooyoung's part in "Inception" (it was incredible). He has such a distinctive voice, and I'm so glad that KQ is beginning to acknowledge it. I really hope to hear him sing more often. Also, loved the video!
Love this series! I think Wooyoung is relatively overlooked, but he's so versatile. Like your Yeosang videos demonstrated, I think that now that they've got some training under their belts their music team is making really good use of all the members.
I love this series so much. Watching Wooyoung getting more and more lines in the last few years has been a treat (Woo in Django rewired my brain). I'm so excited to see what the new series will bring us vocally, The World series was so good that my expectations are through the roof.
The ring is one of my top favorites and it’s definitely because of wooyoungs ability to have such a powerful ring, no pun intended, against an intense production but still light somehow. It just left a lasting impression on me that I feel the need to bring it up in every discussion.
This was a wonderful analysis! I don’t have much knowledge about vocals, but this was very insightful and made me gain a lot more appreciation for Wooyoung as a vocalist. I am in love with your video style, it is very engaging and informative. You have a way of being objective, but still showing appreciation. Thank you for making this series, looking forward to see what you have to say about Yunho in your next analysis.
the word light you used is what i have always felt about wooyoung's as a vocalist but could never put a word to it . really enjoyed this video. Also the people who finalized this group along with producers deserves credit for bringing such contrast of members in a group which complements each other in every aspect so brilliantly to create the beauty that is ATEEZ
omg this was so good!!! particularly obsessed with the newfound knowledge of wooyoung's high note in answer. like i had to put down my phone and squeal when it finally clicked that that was his voice like omg i will be thinking about that for the next few business days thank you so much for this. ive also noticed that wooyoung and jongho will sing the same lines a lot, especially in the fever series (or maybe i just listen to that series a lot who knows lol) and seeing you point that out at 13:23 felt very nice again, this was fabulous!! i absolutely love this man's voice and hearing someone analyze exactly why it's so good with such enthusiasm is so much fun!! looking forward to yunho's analysis!!! i'd also like to thank you for being my gateway into becoming an atiny!! your yeosang vocal analyses were what introduced me to Ateez, and i am now thoroughly obsessed with these eight silly and talented men and their discography of nothing but absolute bops, thank you so much for bringing them to my attention!!!!
More than happy to introduce you to Wooyoung's high note and Ateez in general. I'm shocked you watched a long vocal analysis for a member of a group you didn't even follow, but consider me flattered! (and thanks again for pointing out that my comments were disabled here)
Wooyoung brings a beautiful effervescence to the songs, he truly completes the group. Have you noticed how much better we can hear him live when he uses hand mics? And he's a lot more stable, too, though that may be coincidental.
amazingggg i love wooyoungs voice so much. the poppiafication really saved our lives out here. i've been super into his whole live texturefication. and ateez definitely need to start using more harmonies. and 23:40 it is p much confirmed as wooyoung!!! if you go and look at bbtrippin's version of the choreography both him and jongho are separate from the rest of the group so they can get the spotlight perfoming it live.
wooyoung has gotten a good amount of lines recently which makes me happy 😭 for example he did really well in Days + the live performance of it. these days especially it seems like he’s working really hard to sing his parts live so i appreciate that from him. i saw criticisms about him that said he was one of the members who lipsynced the most along with yeosang but now wooyoung is confidently singing live. 👏 the inconsistencies with his pitch accuracy and stability while dancing is something i feel he could definitely improve on if he worked on it because sometimes he’ll nail it and other times he doesn’t, but aside from that wooyo is a great performer and i love his voice it’s my favorite within ateez. thank you for the analysis 💘
I love wooyoung's vocals so much, his voice is so multifaceted. Your analysis was so good, I swear I literally talk about his voice all the time even though he has like 5 lines total LOL. ALSO "not everyone can be Jeong Yunho" LOL PREACH HIS STABILITY IS ACTUALLY OUT OF THIS WOLRD
I absolutely love this, ended up here because I’m so in love with Yeosang’s voice and now I’m obsessed. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us and pleeease, pretty please do Yunho next 🥹
oh man I've been waiting for this video!! especially with all these lines woo has been getting recently...like I was so pleasantly surprised by not okay?? he really got two choruses and the bridge?? I'm an answer lover as well but I had never thought that that line might be wooyoung. I won't be able to unhear it now tho "not everyone can be jeong yunho" I snorted XD it's so true tho...I can't wait for that video!
Wooyoung has this naturally nasal sound WHILE ALSO keeping his light airiness, that's the distinguishing thing about his voice. San is nasal but his voice is solid, it's like an arrow piercing through you. Jongho is just a brick wall tank hitting you with solid, rectangular power while Wooyoung feels... airy, like a mage with his magic. but wooyoung has that lightness, he's a light, playful mage while seonghwa has the same airiness, while being very dark, like a seductive, dark mage
Im so happy i found this video i don't see that many people giving wooyoung credit as a vocalist and you really did justice i loved hearing you talk about his vocal abilities thank you for doing this
so let me tell you this first: i have no idea abt vocals and terminology and whatsoever. but i know that i will shake me a** whenever i hear a wooyoung line. it can be thanxx, it can be halazia, it can be mist, and even be with you. sometimes it will be an exciting shake, sometimes an angsty one, and sometimes a really heartbroken one. what im trying to say is that his voice has this vibe that makes you wanna move. as i was watching the video, i realized that many of my favorite parts in ateez songs belongs to wooyoung. like i already love him SOOOO MUCH (seonghwa was so right when he said "wooyoung is the type of person that is hard not to love") and i love listening to his voice as well (like... mist... HELLOOOO) but i didnt know he had my all time favorites. something i also wanna mention is this high pitched moments when he's singing live. (again i have no idea abt vocals so it may be something unwanted but) i really love when he does that. examples are mist live perf., i think it happens with silver light stage as well but so slightly, better live stages etc. whenever it happens i feel like his live vocal are inside my bloodstream, if that makes any sense lol. last thing i will be mentioning is how his voice became fuller? since last year. i noticed this with limetless first, then world: will and now not okay. LIKEEE...... CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW AMAZING HE IS IN NOT OKAY!!!!! I was flabbergasted when i first heard him in the bridge. and his line just kept going. i felt like ascending to heaven. and when they sing that song live, i can believe my ears are blessed enough to get filled with that sound. (i loved that "not everyone can be jeong yunho ". cant wait to see his analysis)
I love that this particular video dropped at a point in time when Woo, a main dancer, is using a hand mic on stage more consistently than i've ever seen him before. I know in general more than a few of them have talked about focusing hard on live vocals in the run up to cochella, but getting to actually regularly hear him live on stage recently has been a treat! Especially as his killing part in Bouncy is what really both ties that song together and brings it to the next level for me. So excited to see what is next for him.
i'm almost 100% sure that high note in answer is wooyoung. the original choreo that their choreographers (bbtrippin) posted for answer actually featured wooyoung singing it on the side along with jongho!
Heeeeey!!! So, Wooyo is part of my bias line along with Joong and Jongho and I just got so excited because you're right, his vocals can get overlooked because he's such a great dancer and performer and Ateez is full of very good vocalists but because of every characteristic of his voice you mentioned, i think he's my favourite voice in the group, like I just hear him and smile lmao I think the lightness and airyness is what I like the most and these parts you mentioned in Django and Arriba are just everything to me like wow 😭😭 Also, Halazia and Inception are my two favourite title tracks mainly because of him, the "I'm in love" part is so iconic and he sounds so good and the "빛이 되어주오 Oh Halazia" yeah, INJECT IT!!! Oh, also! In Bouncy, his "slow it down make it bouncy" part, I don't know what it is about it but I'm so obsessed. When I listened to Silver Light for the first time and heard him opening the song i legit had to pause and run that back up and decided right then and there it was my 3rd favourite bside of the year. Like wow, the way he sings chain and pain, i was already sold so when that chorus and post chorus hit, it was over for me. Anyway I'm just rambling, I just love his voice and very much enjoyed this analysis, you just gained a new subscriber and i'm gonna go back and watch all your videos 🫡 Can't wait for the Yunho one because I find him fascinating. I don't know anything about vocals, I'm just an enjoyer of good ones but i feel like that man can do anything and he fascinates me 😭 See you then! PS: also WAIT?? THE ANSWER HIGH NOTE?? I never noticed, i'm gagged right now 😭😭😭
I love your analysis videos also I somehow have listened to answer like 100 times without ever Really noticing that note???! I agree it sounds like wooyo,, this guy
I like his voice and his dance style. Then you pair it with his personality ( or at least what he shows to the camera) and it's a really nice combo. I like how he flows like water on the stage and makes the dance moves seem easy to do too. Jongho is my favorite vocal and Wooyoung is my second favorite vocal. 25:36 The way I said that at the same time. I'm sure we all saw that line coming.
23:30 it low key has been confirmed! BBtrippin uploaded on their yt channel Answer dance demo and at around 3:02 you can see that TWO dancers are out and belting - with their nametags stating it's Jongho and Wooyoung
I really enjoyed your analysis on Wooyoung’s voice and how it’s used in Ateez. It was also the KCON LA’s Poppia performance that made me realize that something had changed for Wooyoung. Before, I felt like he had great parts and his light tone fit so well in so many songs, but there just wasn’t enough of him. I am so glad that his amount of lines and different parts in songs have really expanded since then. The lines he’s singing that are the same or similar to Jongho’s lines, in more recent songs, I think proves that his strength as a vocalist has improved over the years. His live vocals have definitely improved, even though he does sometimes sacrifice his vocal performance for a stronger dance performance. I don’t mind though because I know his dance performance will be one of most enjoyable to see on stage. Wooyoung has some of my favorite lines in my favorite songs from their Will and Outlaw albums. I definitely would love to hear more harmonies utilized in Ateez songs, in general, but definitely with Wooyoung’s vocals. “…the other members actually have lines.” 😂 It’s hilarious, but it’s not, which is sad. You can definitely tell the difference made these past two years to try and utilize everyone’s vocal talents and fairly distribute lines more, without compromising, but instead enhancing the songs. I think Edenary is trying a little more now, but there’s still a long way to go.
Oh well, now im impatient for when u drop san bcs I feel like that will be a very insteresting analysis since he gets A LOT of lines, will just have to wait
Wooyoung has mentioned a couple of times that he wants to do a song with Yeosang to commemorate their 10th Anniversary as friends. I hope it really does happen. What would be your take on what would suit them best as a duo since they are polar opposites? You mentioned that San was a good buffer in IT’s You, but do you think the two of them would be able to fill in that space themselves?
YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS WOOYOUNG!!!!!!! also, Halazia is GREAT!!! its my fave TT from ATEEZ and it will remain there until another TT takes her down but my god, nothing compares to Halazia. Its mystical, magical, mysterious vibes filled with tears and yearning and desperation, like, UGHH, and I feel like there wont be a Halazia 2.0 and that makes me sad. ps: if your Yunho vid is 1+ hours, just split it and make it 1 hour each. if not more. RUclips has a pause button we can use that.
Thank you for making a video series like these.. I genuinely was considering making one myself before watching yours. I absolutely adore the analysis and I am very excited for Seongwha and Yunho episodes because I think they’re hella underrated for how versatile they are. I was so happy that you started with Yeosang tho because he is the other member who was very underrated vocally whose voice I adore.
I’ve been meaning to watch this and as expected, it was delightful!Another great analysis. I love that you included the section on the contrasting besties- doesn’t it just seem too perfect? I’ve always loved Woo’s vocals, and I’m glad someone else has too. I think you briefly touched on the emotion that him using his voice in certain ways can portray- one of my favorite examples of that is his cover of Etham’s “12:45,” which I think you included in your montage of him using his breath in the more unfocused way, to create that kind of breathy sound. What I love about that cover is that his voice does have that diffuse, breathy quality in it, but also has this raw belt at the core of the breathiness, and the combo is just emotionally devastating. It’s so much of what I love about what Woo can do, vocally, and how he can emotionally affect his listeners. I also have the same kind of like, wish for him going forward, although I’m already proud of the progress he’s made so far so keep on keepin on, dude (also haha you’re right, not everyone can be Mr. Jeong Yunho- SO looking forward to the next episode because I feel like he’s an underrated vocalist as well.) And I also love Woo using his lower more breathy approach in the Django prechorus too lol (what a playful rascal!)
@@Tealeafer As the saying goes, takes one to know one. Can't wait to squeal with you when his turn comes. Meanwhile, we enjoy squealing over everybody else too. 😉
@@kaiaraia5792 we really are able to recognize each other in the wild lol. I can't wait either! and yes, of course, the squealing will be applied to all :)
I thank youuuuuuuuu This is such a breath of fresh air to hear an actual analysis for my boy Woo Thank you for having such a good ear to notice all of his work and I could hear you talk for hours so I’m ready for the rest of the members. So ready to hear about YUNHO. That man fooled me for the first week of listening to him on live performances. I could not believe he was so stable signing live
Your analyses are so enlightening! Wooyoung's voice is my favorite, especially when he sings confidently. His voice has that "something" I like amidst the heaviness (and I like dark R&B and heavy, loud music in general). Even when he doesn't have a lot of lines, I can hear his voice in the harmonies or backing vocals. I would love it if he continues developing his voice and finds his sound if it's something he wants to do. Otherwise, I'll just enjoy whatever he lends to Ateez's discography.
The most important thing I wanted to say was Yunho's opening part in the collab with PTX Need a Little Space makes my brain purr and I'm hoping you have a good way to describe why lol Yunho's vocals are my favorite after Yeosang's chest vibrating low notes. Also, Wooyoung's part in Mist is soooo hhnnnnggg KQ give him more parts like that please! Also, also, I appreciate when you acknowledge their faults and where vocals have been touched up. So often kpop fans just want to praise their favs but for me it takes away from the praise when you don't acknowledge where there is room for improvement. Gentle productive criticism, especially when paired with praise, does not equal hate. I struggled to get into Ateez for a while because people praised their vocals but when I went looking for it, all I found was Jongho's high notes, touched up "live" vocals that people didn't realize were touched up or untouched live singing where the backing was so loud you couldn't hear them anyway. So I didn't really buy that they were that talented vocally. (Which is a big thing for me, my ults are a.c.e and onf. I see that clip of Chan in your intro! If you don't know onf go at least listen to Beautiful Beautiful. It's worth it, I promise.) Then I watched the killing voice video, which is for sure touched up, but also still so good! (Also Yeosang is adorable in it and he became by bias and I became Atiny by the end of that 26 minutes.) Anyway, your videos are fascinating and articulate some aspects of their vocals I appreciate but didn't know how to explain. I have choral and music theater experience but no real music theory training. Sorry for the essay, looking forward to your next Ateez video!
Omg I absolutely love your analysis videos on Ateez and especially how you highlight the members that are pretty easily overlooked in the vocal department. I feel I had a hard time finding Woo's voice in my baby Atiny days, but it's amazing hearing his voice shine so much more in the last few yrs! Yunho highlight moments/requests - his low note with Mingi in Immortal Songs with that mashup of The Real. I swear it gives me goosebumps every time - his literally singing fireworks while jumping down a stage and not sounding like one of those cartoon characters that falls down a flight of stairs - his first cover from his birthday - and finally, idk if u can find it, but his second live on Toktoq after his birthday live, he was singing at 5 am and he did some sound effects which I thought were funny, but also strangely accurate in pitch. He seems to just be good at imitating members which is just a trait I find common in lots of other artists (ie: Ariana grande)
I dropped everything to watch this lol. Love your videos so much and love to see more people talking about Wooyoung’s voice. ❤️ Can’t wait for Yunho’s analysis! He’s my ult and I’m so ready to fangirl about his vocals. 💃
I am surprised to hear the nasal quality so strongly in your video. I wasn't aware. I have to see a singer to connect the voice. It takes me a long time to individualize voices(autistic). I remember in Killing Voice enjoying his parts a lot. He does have a really nice tone, (just like Lee Know of Stray Kids), that is under appreciated, IMHO.
I remember when Mingi and Wooyoung got into an altercation cos he did not want to lipsync the autotuned part in Halahala 🤣. My guy has a hard time with lip syncing, so it makes sense that he didn't wanna do the poppia one.
Subscribed! I watched both Yeosang videos then came here and really love these analysis videos. Both Wooyoung and Yeosang have been given so much more to work with recently! This video definitely gave me a new appreciation for Wooyoung as a vocalist! As a Yunho stan, I am so looking forward to his video. I don’t really know anything about vocals, but I’ve always felt that Yunho was a “backbone” of Ateez’ sound since he is so versatile and seems to do a large part of backing vocals and harmonies for several songs. Of course, I may also be completely wrong about that 😂
I can confirm this si Wooyoug singing the highnote in Answer. I remember seeing a dance practice by BBT where they had the members' name on them and originally in the choreo Wooyoung was supposed to stop dancing alongside Jongho to sing the highnote
Thank you for that !! Wooyoung voice is truly so beautiful and angelic and he’s getting so much better with every single song and I’m so so proud of my ultimate bias💜 He’s bringing so much to Ateez and I’m so glad we got him🙏
I'm so glad I found your channel. I love these in depth analysis videos and it's making me appreciate the members' vocals even more than I already do! I don't know anything about vocal techniques so it was fun to learn about it in your videos and to know why certain members tend to get certain lines and why certain members tend to get paired together in terms of vocals. I'm very excited for the rest of this series! Ateez has such wonderful vocalists
Just found your channel. Wooyoung has the sweetest ❤ voice in Ateez. Starting this with Light is such a happy pill for me. It was their first slow song where all of them sung and I was like, duh, the vocal potentials! That sealed the Atiny spirit in me. And THANK YOU for doing this series. Not much analysis of each member out there. Looking forward to your analysis of everyone, especially Yunho's, cuz I just love his tone the most.
The way I started freaking out when you mentioned the backing vocals on Answer... seriously someone needs to do a full breakdown on just the backing vocals for that song and why they make the song so much better. But I love the Wooyoung recognition because he is totally underrated and underutilized as a vocalist. And I'm soooo excited for the Yunho video because I'm absolutely obsessed with his vocals... and everything else about him
I absolutely loved this video, it gave me more perspective on how wooyoung's abilities are utilized, which makes me love him even more ! also I'm pretty sure he's the one singing the other high note in answer ! i remember seeing a clip of the earlier versions of the answer choreography where two members would not dance and just belt out the high notes, idk where it came from but I know it was not a dream because after seeing the video, I listened to that specific part and then it dawned on me that there were two high notes and not just jongho's ! love your work, thank you so much for putting it out !
Thank you for this. I really liked how you were able to appreciate what he does offer & what makes him unique while also being able to point out places where he can improve. You briefly mentioned the sultriness of his voice & I think that really stands out in the group. When he sings “dirty night” in Arriba, it sounds positively sinful. Or the purring quality he brings to Bouncy’s “slow it down make it bouncy”. I honestly can’t imagine anyone else singing those lines quite like him. But he’s also able to bring a sweetness & innocence into his tone, most recently with Days. Love the duality. And someone else in the comments mentioned how his voice can also be haunting. And that’s the word that comes to mind with the beginning of Silver Light as well as when he sings “now can’t you see the truth…” in This World. For me too the switch happened with Poppia. To me it seemed like the producers there were under the impression that Wooyoung was the main vocalist of the group with how often he look the lead. But of course that song is as “pop” as ATEEZ could ever get & sometimes I do wonder what the discussion around his vocals would have been if their discography had been more pop since Wooyoung’s voice seems perfectly suited for that genre. But I’m really glad where things have been heading with him getting the opportunity to showcase his vocals - I thought he sounded great each time they performed Not Okay live on the Japanese shows. And I’m glad that he seems to be working on his vocals more instead of focusing almost single-mindedly on dance as he used to do.
PLEASEEE DO ONE OF YUNHO'S VOICE!! I mean, he has such a stable voice while dancing the hardest rockiest coreos ever It's just insane. And his toneee!! It's like a warm hug so cozy and versatile
i definitely believe that Treasure era Wooyoung didn't have the vocal ability to carry a chorus which is why he got like no lines (like consistantly less than 5s) when they debuted. and then Fever era Wooyoung could carry a chorus, but others members a) have just been doing it before, so they just continued and b)could do it better than he could. You see definitely now they are playing more with the type of lines each member gets which is why even jongho (though still consitantly having the most) gets less lines as they are giving air time to different members now. honestly, this whole process seems really fair which is just a testament of how well Eden knows Ateez
Thanks for this video! Wooyoung is my bias, but I tend to gravitate more towards fuller voices in general, so trying to figure out the way his voice shines was a bit strange for me at first. But especially with their most recent albums, I've found myself really enjoying the lightness of his voice-the way it can bring an air of delicacy, a sensuality, or a somewhat piercing quality to songs and adds so much variety! And your analysis helped me understand that and appreciate that even more.
Here for the Woo appreciation party 🎉❤ i very much want to see him and Yeosang taking on more vocal lifting in future discography and the other members getting to try new things as well. Like I know our boy Jongho is a power vocalist but sometimes he feels....i dont wanna say overused but that's the term that comes to mind. I think a lot of groups make the mistake of using their main vocalist(s) to the point that military service, extended health hiatuses, etc, become massive adjustments or promotionless periods. BTS is my ult group and i think they started to realize this over the last few years leading up to their military service. Jungkook has taken to focusing more on ad libs and harmonies in many recent tracks and the other 3 in the vocal line are covering parts that I think probably would have been heavily Jungkook's responsibility prior to the pandemic. So with that concept in mind, i hope Jongho can explore non-belty things and "get some rest" so to speak while the others take on some more big dynamic parts. ETA: shoutout to Woo's second part in Rocky. It itches my soul just right.
as an aspiring vocalist without much formal training i absolutely love love LOVE videos like this sm bc i can learn a lot and also just appreciate my favourite vocalists and groups i already love like yes queen i know theyre incredible do explain to me WHY theyre so good and now i love them even more GREAT THANKS im glad wooyo's getting the spotlight he deserves here bc his voice is so pretty and oUGH
Thank you for making this series, im deaftone so you explaining different vocal aspects with examples in easy-understanable way makes me appreciate singers and each ateez member more. Im looking forward to the next ep. Could you touch on similar tone/voice (dont know how to name it) they use with seonghwa in some songs? sometimes im confident that certain part sings yunho but it was hwa and vice versa that i dont know if it is intentional or arsty choice on their part (i think it was also in kingdom wolf performance, where they made cover of it)
Glad you enjoyed! I definitely plan to touch on Yunho and Seonghwa sounding borderline identical. Still don't know if it will be in Yunho's video or Seonghwa's, but it will be included!
LOVED THIS ANALYSIS (instant subscribe and I can’t wait to see you apply this amazing, knowledgeable and analytical deep dive into each member of ateez, who are all such incredible vocalists!!). But that high note on ANSWER - isn’t that just Jongho? He has that warm-sounding and rich timbre (sorry if I’m using the wrong terminology- I am definitely not knowledgeable in this field!) with the ending little vibrato in that note that sounds like the usual Jongho? Not sure ofc, but just my sense. Definitely looking forward to Yunho‘s vid next (and my big three faves in terms of vocals, Seonghwa, Sannie, and Give Him a Broadway Lead Role Choi Jongho ofc~) and will go back to watch your first two on our amazing (if extremely bashful 😂 - srsly, how did a boy that shy decide to become an idol? 😆💖) Yeosangie. I appreciate the range and depth of your ATEEZ knowledge in terms of clips too - loved seeing the little side gigs like the variety show clips, KJK (I’m sure), the Japanese bsides, immortal songs and all the rest rolled up in your body of research~~ Seriously, I’m so grateful and excited someone thorough and knowledgeable is doing this deep dive on the extraordinary vocal work of ATEEZ and showing me things I’d never noticed myself before~~
I lack knowledge, too, but agree. It sounds to me like Wooyoung's voice partners with Jongho's but fades out near the end while Jongho finishes his note. I could be entirely wrong in that opinion. I've listened to that part of Answer innumerable times hoping to figure it out with 100% certainty, but it's hard! When Wooyoung's high note hits, I get goosebumps. His voice is my favorite; though, I do like all of their voices for various reasons, which are connected to specific songs.
I'm just so happy KQ has been distributing better the lines lately, I get the feeling that with Outlaw and Will we finally are able to hear all the members in their full power and I love it. I love all of their voices, but Wooyo's is just that little more special for me, maybe it's because he sounds the sweetest to me (yes, Jongho may be able to go higher but his voice is that bit deeper than Woo's). I don't know, his voice is the one I'm more drawn to and I'm so glad we're getting to hear him more lately (I'm not gonna talk about "Not Okay", because my emotional stability depends on it and I was quite literally not okay when I first listened to it😆). Thank you so much for all these analysis, I can't wait to hear what you have to say about the other members, since the rest have been able to show their range a lot more than WooSang. P.S. I'm gonna call Woo "my sprinkles boy" from now on. 😆
Yeosang is one of my favorite vocalists of any genre, all time, and so I was obsessed with the two videos you put out for his vocals (and yes, Dune ALSO killed me dead. OH MY GOD). WooSang is also one of my favorite vocal pairings of all time, so I was ECSTATIC to hear you make a comment about their pairing and then say that you’d be elaborating on it in Wooyoung’s dedicated video. And you did not disappoint! I loved the analysis of their pairing and how different it can be to what Wooyoung normally does/the purpose his voice often serves. Aside from my obvious Yeosang bias on a non-Yeosang video, I LOVED this analysis. It would’ve been so easy to chalk all of it up to his nasal voice-yes, he IS the “only nasal voice in ATEEZ” (generalizing for descriptive purposes)-and you could’ve made an entire video just out of comparing some of his more nasal lines to the gravel tumblers he calls bandmates, but you didn’t! And it was such a good video! Ahh I know I’m late I just love this series so much. (Also my heart swelled a little bit when you called Hongjoong a sub vocalist. Love that for him). EDIT: sorry I realized I made it sound like you made a comment in your Yeosang video about the woosang contrast-I meant an ACTUAL comment underneath the video 😅
I loved this so much, I used to take vocal lessons and sing but whenever I try to explain things I'm never this good. It's really so well done and also relaxing to hear tbh! Thank you for the great analysis!
I love Wooyoung. I was just saying to my daughter the other day that I feel bad for him because he's a really good vocalist, but he's up against... and she says Ateez? Yup.
amazing analysis and also just a blessing to see others obsess over wooyoung and his pretty pretty voice the same way i do to know i’m not alone i also love the woosang parts where they support each other vocally also when considerung their history as for yunho, i assume you'll use that clip anyways but him singing (i believe) good lil' boy while running on stage baffles me each time as well as his backing vocals in answer bc he got a lot
@@catchingteez The other "how the heck does Yunho do it?!" moment for me is from their 230106 Music Bank Halazia encore. He was literally doing bunny hops and his singing sounded the same?! HOW. His diaphragmatic control is insane.
Hi sorry for being late! Love the video as always. My thoughts on wooyoung's voice are similar to yours. Wooyoung tends to sing emotionally alot, whether it's like teasing ( in arriba) or longing (mist). I love when he sings his heart out. And ofc his contrast match is yeosang. They fit really well together. Yeosang is deeper and wooyoung's is lighter but both are smooth af. It's like yeosang's voice is a stack of dense souffle pancakes and wooyoung is the honey drizzle on top. they're so soulmatey (they need to put out a song asap). And I love that you're using live stages examples. It gives more perception. Also my statement when it comes to yunho's voice is "YUNHO'S VOICE IS MORE STABLE THAN MY MENTAL HEALTH" . Anyways, when you work on yunho's video, pls include declaration. Yunho has a lot of range. I'd like to see that. I hope you're well and everything is going fine. Eagerly waiting for the next video. Love ya! 💜
I really loved both this video and the ones for Yeosang, I feel like I learned so much and gained new appreciation for both of them ❤I absolutely can't wait for Yunho's video, since he's my bias 🥰 Keep up the good work, much love!
If youre gonna do all the members, i cant wait for yunhos! He recently did a cover of a japanese song (that i dont remember the name of) and ik sm people were so amazed by his performanc😂
also, when i checked wonderland's background vocals, the comments mentioned that it was woo who did the back high note for jongho's THAT high note. i don't know how much accurate it is but if it is the case, i want more woo's high notes
I have just found out that Wooyoung has done almost all of my favourite song parts.
Several atiny (including myself) having been saying this for years 🫡 so thanks for spreading the word it’s just ITS SO GOOD
I literally always thought he was the lead vocalist because his voice is so distinct it made me think he got more lines than he does and also how he shares lines with jongho
me: trying to focus
wooyoung's deja vu fan cam: attempts at hypnotizing me
(jokes aside, I love love love this series and this video !! and wooyoung's voice is so lovely ... it feels like a summer breeze)
also so sorry to say I DID start tearing up at the "wooyoung and yeosang" section ... besties ... < 3
sameeeee i found myself trying to snap myself back into focus many times after staring too long 😂
@@nuranisahhanisburhan5798 he is just that enchanting eheh his power honestly
He has this sweet, enchanting and seductive voice that makes him stand out among others.
(The clip at 8:23 you can clearly see his neck straining to push the notes out)
I also can’t stop finding it funny how Ateez + lipsync is so messy, but then it also shows how they’re used to performing not only their choreographies, but vocals, live. We stan
“But THAT’s a discussion for later” indeed it isss, looking forward to the next analysis!
FOR REAL!! yes, all members have such unique voices, but many ATINY’S haven’t mentioned Wooyoung’s amazing vocals when I look at the comments 😭😭
Wooyoung’s live vocals in Rocky when he roughens up his voice permanently rewired my brain and I melt every time I hear it 🫠
I need to go and relisten to all Ateez tracks now
Literally me every time I make one of these videos
This was a wonderful analysis! I don’t have much knowledge about vocals, but this was very insightful and made me gain a lot more appreciation for Wooyoung as a vocalist. I am in love with your video style, it is very engaging and informative. You have a way of being objective, but still showing appreciation. Thank you for making this series, looking forward to see what you have to say about Yunho in your next analysis.
Glad you enjoyed! (and thanks again for pointing out the comments were disabled)
My ult bias and my fave vocalist 😩 He has such a distinct and beautiful voice
the word light you used is what i have always felt about wooyoung's as a vocalist but could never put a word to it . really enjoyed this video. Also the people who finalized this group along with producers deserves credit for bringing such contrast of members in a group which complements each other in every aspect so brilliantly to create the beauty that is ATEEZ
omg this was so good!!! particularly obsessed with the newfound knowledge of wooyoung's high note in answer. like i had to put down my phone and squeal when it finally clicked that that was his voice like omg i will be thinking about that for the next few business days thank you so much for this. ive also noticed that wooyoung and jongho will sing the same lines a lot, especially in the fever series (or maybe i just listen to that series a lot who knows lol) and seeing you point that out at 13:23 felt very nice
again, this was fabulous!! i absolutely love this man's voice and hearing someone analyze exactly why it's so good with such enthusiasm is so much fun!! looking forward to yunho's analysis!!!
i'd also like to thank you for being my gateway into becoming an atiny!! your yeosang vocal analyses were what introduced me to Ateez, and i am now thoroughly obsessed with these eight silly and talented men and their discography of nothing but absolute bops, thank you so much for bringing them to my attention!!!!
I hadn't watched bbtrippin's choreo video before, but you're totally right! Ooooh I'm so excited now
wooyoung has gotten a good amount of lines recently which makes me happy 😭 for example he did really well in Days + the live performance of it.
these days especially it seems like he’s working really hard to sing his parts live so i appreciate that from him.
i saw criticisms about him that said he was one of the members who lipsynced the most along with yeosang but now wooyoung is confidently singing live. 👏
the inconsistencies with his pitch accuracy and stability while dancing is something i feel he could definitely improve on if he worked on it because sometimes he’ll nail it and other times he doesn’t, but aside from that wooyo is a great performer and i love his voice it’s my favorite within ateez.
thank you for the analysis 💘
I won't be able to unhear it now tho
"not everyone can be jeong yunho" I snorted XD it's so true tho...I can't wait for that video!
He sounds so so good in the kcon Hong Kong stages
@@peonylarkspur645 Agreed! And while HMA's were suuuch a hot mess this year, he sounded wonderful during their stage
I have always loved woo’s voice but something clicked last year and i am in LOVE with his voice??? there’s just something beautiful and haunting in it
i cannot get over how GOOD he sounds in limitless bro was BORN to sing that song
i'm almost 100% sure that high note in answer is wooyoung. the original choreo that their choreographers (bbtrippin) posted for answer actually featured wooyoung singing it on the side along with jongho!
that's a hella good analysis, I wish I could find someone who can do the same with his dancing
ANY part in ateez songs that i *love* have been woos or hongjoongs, watching this is great for me
wdig woos "oh yeah~" and his "ojik uril wihae junbihan" part in its you have me in a CHOKEHOLD.
Django bridge sounds literally as if Woo was ha-ing with his breath at the mic with every word and I truly love his delivery there
Heeeeey!!!
So, Wooyo is part of my bias line along with Joong and Jongho and I just got so excited because you're right, his vocals can get overlooked because he's such a great dancer and performer and Ateez is full of very good vocalists but because of every characteristic of his voice you mentioned, i think he's my favourite voice in the group, like I just hear him and smile lmao
I think the lightness and airyness is what I like the most and these parts you mentioned in Django and Arriba are just everything to me like wow 😭😭
Also, Halazia and Inception are my two favourite title tracks mainly because of him, the "I'm in love" part is so iconic and he sounds so good and the "빛이 되어주오 Oh Halazia" yeah, INJECT IT!!!
Anyway I'm just rambling, I just love his voice and very much enjoyed this analysis, you just gained a new subscriber and i'm gonna go back and watch all your videos 🫡
Can't wait for the Yunho one because I find him fascinating. I don't know anything about vocals, I'm just an enjoyer of good ones but i feel like that man can do anything and he fascinates me 😭
See you then!
Right??? I spent so long overlooking it until someone pointed it out to me and since then I pay attention to it more than Jongho's note 😂
"He is specialized in everything opposed to wooyoung "😂😂😂😂😂
I loved your analysis. Other than Jongho, Wooyoung's voice stood out to me most.
This is wonderful.❤. I love this highlight of Wooyoung. I think he has such a nice sound. I also really like his whisper lyrics.❤
Omg I love these kind of videos it’s so many vocalists in boy groups that get overshadowed. Taking the time to analyze him was greatly appreciated!
It's so fascinating to hear your vocal analysis of the Ateez members. I love Woo's voice so much, I'm always subconsciously listening for him 🥰🥰
Another great analysis--thanks Catchingteez!
Same here! Love the contrast analysis. It adds so much to Ateez' texture.
Sensing another Hottoek here. ❤😂

I thank youuuuuuuuu
This is such a breath of fresh air to hear an actual analysis for my boy Woo
Thank you for having such a good ear to notice all of his work and I could hear you talk for hours so I’m ready for the rest of the members.
It's worth it, I promise.)
Then I watched the killing voice video, which is for sure touched up, but also still so good! (Also Yeosang is adorable in it and he became by bias and I became Atiny by the end of that 26 minutes.)
Anyway, your videos are fascinating and articulate some aspects of their vocals I appreciate but didn't know how to explain. I have choral and music theater experience but no real music theory training.
Sorry for the essay, looking forward to your next Ateez video!
The legend the queen is here to talk about king wooyoung!
Loved the video ✨💕
I’m so in love with this video😭 wooyoung’s vocal ability is crazy underrated!!
Yunho highlight moments/requests
- his low note with Mingi in Immortal Songs with that mashup of The Real. I swear it gives me goosebumps every time
- his literally singing fireworks while jumping down a stage and not sounding like one of those cartoon characters that falls down a flight of stairs
- his first cover from his birthday
- and finally, idk if u can find it, but his second live on Toktoq after his birthday live, he was singing at 5 am and he did some sound effects which I thought were funny, but also strangely accurate in pitch. He seems to just be good at imitating members which is just a trait I find common in lots of other artists (ie: Ariana grande)
I dropped everything to watch this lol. Love your videos so much and love to see more people talking about Wooyoung’s voice. ❤️
Can’t wait for Yunho’s analysis! He’s my ult and I’m so ready to fangirl about his vocals. 💃
I Love this series so much, Ateez vocals are so intressting to me and they are so versatile. Thank you so much for your wonderfull videos ❤💛💙
Of course, I may also be completely wrong about that 😂
Welcome! And shhhhhh you're spoiling like half my points for Yunho already 😂
I can confirm this si Wooyoug singing the highnote in Answer. I remember seeing a dance practice by BBT where they had the members' name on them and originally in the choreo Wooyoung was supposed to stop dancing alongside Jongho to sing the highnote
Thank you for that !! Wooyoung voice is truly so beautiful and angelic and he’s getting so much better with every single song and I’m so so proud of my ultimate bias💜
He’s bringing so much to Ateez and I’m so glad we got him🙏
I'm so glad I found your channel.
It's like a warm hug so cozy and versatile
thank you, i love his delicate voice a lot seriously 😭
Another awesome analysis!! There were so many parts in this that I attributed to other members!! Wooyoung is so underrated for his vocal range.
The way I am obsessed with this series.
i definitely believe that Treasure era Wooyoung didn't have the vocal ability to carry a chorus which is why he got like no lines (like consistantly less than 5s) when they debuted. and then Fever era Wooyoung could carry a chorus, but others members a) have just been doing it before, so they just continued and b)could do it better than he could.
Wooyoung is my type of vocalist
I appreciate the range and depth of your ATEEZ knowledge in terms of clips too - loved seeing the little side gigs like the variety show clips, KJK (I’m sure), the Japanese bsides, immortal songs and all the rest rolled up in your body of research~~ Seriously, I’m so grateful and excited someone thorough and knowledgeable is doing this deep dive on the extraordinary vocal work of ATEEZ and showing me things I’d never noticed myself before~~
Kudos indeed!
Thank you so much for making this video! I always had trouble with differentiating Wooyoung and San in some songs and this cleared it all up!
WOO WOO he is Amazing I love the song IT'S YOU the MV was ALL SOME i had no idea that was him singing THE high note 🤩 ❤ ATEEZ🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
When Wooyoung said that he's ambitious he wasn't joking
I love Wooyoung. I was just saying to my daughter the other day that I feel bad for him because he's a really good vocalist, but he's up against... and she says Ateez?
Yup.
i love this series so much!! :D i'll be RIGHT here immediately when you post the next one
amazing analysis and also just a blessing to see others obsess over wooyoung and his pretty pretty voice the same way i do to know i’m not alone
i also love the woosang parts where they support each other vocally also when considerung their history
as for yunho, i assume you'll use that clip anyways but him singing (i believe) good lil' boy while running on stage baffles me each time
as well as his backing vocals in answer bc he got a lot
Cackling because you already knew one of the clips I'll use 💀
@@catchingteez The other "how the heck does Yunho do it?!" moment for me is from their 230106 Music Bank Halazia encore. He was literally doing bunny hops and his singing sounded the same?! HOW. His diaphragmatic control is insane.
I love that you do these analyses--can't wait to see them all!
Love ya! 💜
I love this analysis, I learn so much from this video
thank you
Oh my god thank you for making this analysis vocal video of wooyoung. Hope more people appreciate wooyoung's vocal❤
Amazing i subscribed the channel. Wooyoung voice is so soothing and you so kind to give a perfect analysis for Wooyoung voice ❤
Thanks for putting into words how I feel about their voices!!!! I love this series and it's what made me a subscriber
aaahh im excited to watch this!! my bby woo
girl... you ate with this video omg PLEASE do one on yunho cause i dont think that man is real sometimes
I really loved both this video and the ones for Yeosang, I feel like I learned so much and gained new appreciation for both of them ❤I absolutely can't wait for Yunho's video, since he's my bias 🥰 Keep up the good work, much love!
obviously gonna watch all the members videos that u make cause this one was ??? AMAZING LIKE OMG ?? but i’m so excited for yunhos
If youre gonna do all the members, i cant wait for yunhos! He recently did a cover of a japanese song (that i dont remember the name of) and ik sm people were so amazed by his performanc😂
Omg, this analysis was all I wanted and didn't know yet. I'm looking sm forward the next ones
also, when i checked wonderland's background vocals, the comments mentioned that it was woo who did the back high note for jongho's THAT high note. i don't know how much accurate it is but if it is the case, i want more woo's high notes
