I've been thinking about Yeosang vs Felix a lot! Felix gets his well-deserved recognition for his deep voice, and his parts are such a highlight of Stray Kids' songs, meanwhile Yeosang is right here with just as amazing and captivating vocal and... and...?.. Halazia is all we have?.. I hope Ateez will find more ways to utilize his amazing voice!
I was blown away. Almost a sort of metal like growl, unlike anything we’ve heard from him. ALSO the bridge in Bouncy where we get Yeosang’s line then we jump an octave to Yunho’s line then another octave to Jongho’s line. I swear I levitated.
I'm so glad someone is making an in-depth analysis of Yeosang's vocals! KQ is finally figuring out how to utilize his low tones in these past few comebacks and, while he isn't the strongest vocalist in Ateez, his unique colour brings more depth in Ateez's harmonies that would be lacking otherwise. I'm glad that people are noticing him more; especially after his cover dropped. Also this new album has more Yeosang lines and his part in Dune is *chef's kiss*.
Pretty much every time I heard Yeosang in the new mini I perked up like "Wow! These lines fit him so much better!" And his cover had me close to tears (both because I'm stupid proud of him, but also I'm upset we didn't get anything like it sooner). If he keeps training his voice and they get better at writing lines that showcase him, the next few years could be really fun
ruclips.net/video/RN0qfrtBfzM/видео.html Actuallyyy he might be one of the best vocalists in ATEEZ.. the second half of this video is so so stunningly beautiful
Yeosangs voice in Halazia was what made me like Ateez. I don't understand why they don't utilize his voice way more. That's what SKZ do with Felix. They know they have a "weapon" with Felix voice and write song parts to emphasize his voice. They could use Yeosangs voice so much better and I'm so sad because I find his voice so calming.
it's a combination of him not being confident enough and having a weaker voice at the time, which bled into each other leading to him not singing much and thus not gaining experience needed to develop his vocals (because lessons only get you so far). he's gone SUCH a long way since then that when i first listened to his birthday cover the thing that stumped me the most wasn't how clear and deep his voice was, but how *intelligent* his delivery sounded. it's something that jongho has had since the beginning, this effortless, intuitive knowledge of what to do with his voice and when, to the point where the vocals just flow in and out. and now that yeosang gets it as well, i guess kq feel confident enough to let him experiment with the lower range in their songs. it also helps that the three latest comebacks were appropriately dark and broody. i still can't imagine dune-level of low in something like utopia. and it's not the first time kq tried to mold a member into something he's not supposed to be. like they tried to make san into this sweet, innocent boy in the beginning, and now he's dancing shirtless with a huge-ass wolf tattoo to imagine dragons.
Halazia, just Halazia, what a masterpiece, the way I screamed when I heard Yeo's part for the first time! And I'm so proud of him for being the most rewatched section of the MV, he deserves the spotlight on this song. I'm so happy KQ is finally using Yeo's voice in the right way, he has so much to bring to Ateez!
As a yeosang stan that fell in love with Ateez altogether SOLELY because of yeosangs part in say my name, I found this video very, very needed (I was frothing at the mouth the whole time), since most people don't really appreciate what yeosang can offer with his voice, not just inside the team but also outside in the occasion we get more covers or solo songs (having him sing an OST is a dream of mine), while I understand why a lot of people don't pay that much attention to his vocals, I need them to recognize he's not only a pretty face and heart, but also a gorgeous voice!
Another interesting contrast I've noticed in their songs is with Yeosang and Wooyoung! With Yeosang's soft deep voice and Wooyoung's soft high voice, the lines just feel alive!
I feel like there was an accident "perfect storm" with yeosang: when they debuted he said he wasn't very confident in his abilities and he wanted to focus on dance and then singing; men's voices tend to drop a second time (though not as deep) in their early 20s to where it will be for the rest of their life; Ateez has said so many times that Edenary has songs ready for years in advance; in their "therapy" yt content last year, Seonghwa said that Yeosang had to get better at not agreeing with everyone because he doesn't want to upset them. I feel like we're coming into the music that was started after YS's voice changed all he way/after he became a more confident singer, and if Seonghwa and the rest of Ateez are going to help Yeosang advocate for himself more, I think the change at Halazia will be a permanent one. I've also noticed that deeper voiced idols seem to have the same problem he has, re: lines. Jaehyun from NCT has a similar voice and SM seems very confused about what to do with him since kpop as a genre tends to rely on higher, brighter voices, for men an women. (I think stray kids is different because they produce themselves and Bangchan and Felix's music background might be a bit more western, owing to growing up in Australia.) I love the video, you really nailed what makes his voice important to Ateez' music, in a way I don't think a lot of people realize.
actually i was curious about the claims atinys made about yeosang asking for less lines due to confidence because i’ve never seen evidence of him saying that. so i did pretty in depth research searching for any time he may have said that and i couldn’t find anything except for atinys theorizing that idea.. so i think it’s important to note that he never said that ^^
A lot of good points here. "Perfect storm" is a great way to say it. He may have never said he asked for fewer lines, but I would be willing to bet that he certainly never asked for more in their earlier years.
Yeah, I would like to know like how far ahead and to what extent Edenary plans songs - because I think it would probably clear up a few things just in general - then we might then be able to tell like, "if he asks for more lines at this point in time, he'd have to wait x amount of time for the producers to that into play." Kpop songs tend to be structured in a very purposeful way, so making more room for a bassier voice would probably mean changing the structure or the genre at least a little bit (and I would imagine that Ateez is even more structured because they're very consciously trying to tell a story; just look at the style of songs in Treasure compared to Fever, and then World), so it kind of makes me feel like the backlog of songs that were closer to the original structure have finally run out. I'm really glad we're getting to see things like "Yeosang being utilized properly" (Dune? Omg), and "Seonghwa rapping" (just like he auditioned for), and "san not doing only super high and bright notes" (just compare even his speaking voice pre-Wonderlan to how be sounds now). I think we'll probably see more growth from them as a whole since they're now in their mid-20s and are coming into their stride as far as singing. (I'm, personally, excited. I hate when a musical artist/group's sound stagnates, but I think they have good people heading the project, so I can't really see that happening.)
@@vimzy8507 See, I thought it was in a really old vlive, but no one's ever been able to tell me which so like... now that you say that I am a tad skeptical? I'd like to know who first posted that, so we could find out if it was real and is now lost, or if it was a mistranslation or something (which I've noticed has happened a couple times lol).
I totally didn’t save Yeosang’s part in Halazia on my phone so I could replay it repeatedly whenever I desired 😅 I’m not quite sure how to explain it but I dream Ateez will do a sexy, sultry horror concept in the future and would love Yeosang to sort of “control” the song with his voice (again idk how to explain it) but the song starts relatively low with his voice sort of “creeping” throughout and eventually climaxes at the end with harmonies with the other members. Also i would totally watch a 2hr long video all about San in a heartbeat. ❤
And I totally haven't listened to the 6 minute compilations of just his part... I don't think I'm conceptualizing exactly what you're thinking of, but I'm a sucker for low creeping melodies that explode into massive harmonies. Add a sultry horror concept, and I'm hooked. And please don't egg me on, or San's video might end up being even longer 😂
Yeosang absolutely floored me with his cover, like hello ?! the high notes ? the vibrato ? He already impressed me with the cover for CBX Blooming Day but I was not prepared for THAT ! People in the comments saying he should do an OST and YES ! He would slay a deep, melancholic, romantic song that makes you sigh while looking out the window. Also idk why but during his high notes he reminded me of a Disney prince 💀idk how to explain it but he does ! I'm so happy that the video is close to 3M views, he so so deserves it ! (though I'm a little sad that San's and Seonghwa's haven't passed the million yet 😢) It's so true about his lisp, I was made aware of it in that one Wanteez episode and now I can't unhear it San has one of my favorite voices ever so I'm definitely excited to hear a 2 hour long essay on it 😂 I love how versatile he is and how many emotions he can conjure with it
Legit almost started crying when he hit that high note. I've also seen those OST comments and YES. It makes me so happy to see people just as obsessed with San's voice as me. Makes me a lot less worried about trying to keep things as short as possible
When I was a new atiny Yeosang's voice always reminded me of Taehyung because they have such similar tone and depth, and it's funny you mention wanting to hear Yeosang sing jazz since Taehyung shines most often in jazzy and soulful songs. I think they both struggled vocally because no one knew how to use their range well for a while. In early BTS songs Taehyung was given a lot of throaty shouting parts and it wasn't until Stigma that we really got to see what kind of vocalist he is. I think Yeosang is going through this journey now too. I've no doubt we'll be hearing more from Yeosang as he grows into his own vocal style.
Love the love for NEW WORLD and I was fascinated by the cool effect EDENARY has been using contrasting Yeosang’s round, deep tone with the bright and high tones of Jongho and Hongjoong. So that’s one of the secrets of why ATEEZ songs always hold your ear/keep your interest from start to finish! 🤯 But I have to ask about one thing though (and I don’t trust my judgment/understand bc I’m not versed vocal techniques)- you mentioned that Yeosang is lowest on the ATEEZ vocalist totem pole and that his voice in the rookie days is very untrained. I don’t know how or why I know/agree about the latter point, but I do. But about the totem pole - to my ears/what I’ve observed watching live ATEEZ performance videos religiously over the past three years, I feel like Wooyoung tends to be the shakiest in terms of pitch /notes when singing live. Maybe that’s just the most obvious thing and why that’s the only kind of vocal “error” I can detect, but it seems to me Yeosang has worked to ensure his few lines are always sung live these days and very stably/on pitch, while I still hear a fair amount of pitch wobbling on Wooyoung’s lines, even as recently as during Crazy Form performances. Meanwhile, Yeosang sounds dead-solid to me every time? Again, I’m not a pro and would be curious how they sound to your ear, but I feel like in terms of live singing, it’s ofc Jongho at the top singing 99.9% of his notes on pitch and well supported (and 100% live), then the rappers who are also 100% live, then probably Seonghwa for % of live lines on pitch (basically 100% live since FIREWORKS era and on pitch a good 90% of the time) or San for % of notes on pitch and well-supported (but not live as often as Seonghwa since San is often dancing super-hard during his lines/moments in the center). Yuyu has a beautiful and amazingly versatile voice (when I realized Declaration was him omggg) but not as much stability (at least, prior to 2023 when the whole band I feel really started owning/taking pride in the fact that atiny was so proud they sung live more than other idol bands) as Seonghwa when singing live, I feel? You mentioned something fascinating/I never realized about how Seonghwa sings forcefully, and maybe that’s why it’s easier for him to maintain a stable tone and pitch while dancing as hard as Yunho during their lines? Anyway, I’m just thrilled you’re doing this series and are this interested in and have so many amazing observations of ateez’s exciting vocal work, because I’m very eager to learn more/hear all hour thoughts on this! Get as geeky as you want - I know I won’t be the only one fascinated and eager to learn ~~
I am finally glad to meet someone who realizes the versatility yunho has as a vocalist. He first stood out to me in be with you but now i note how much variety he brings in how he sings every song also his cover of stary nights on idol radio is such so so good will look forward to this series I think san yunho and hongjoong are the ones who play the most with the vocals variety, hongjoong plays with diction, speed, sounds, words the man is crazy creative , mingi has started too as a rapper to play with his rap delivery which im gald to see ,
Just found this. I'm no vocal expert but can agree that Yeosang sounds heavenly when used. Halazia was a turning point for sure. Hope to hear from him even more in 2024.
Oh I’m so excited for this series! I firmly believe that ATEEZ have the most underrated vocal line in K-pop today, not only in terms of raw talent but in terms of how they play their voices off against each other. And Yeosang’s growth into a whole new pillar of their sound is a big part of that.
The thing that have bothered me the most with the Yeosang discourse over the years is that people have been treating KQ like a disease when in reality they’re just a symptom of the industry’s complete inability to handle any deep voices that they can’t make rappers. If you’re lucky you can get a dancing spot (like Yeosang), if not, might as well give up on the debuting dreams. So happy there’s starting to be an industry shift in that mentality now (and if they could fix their mentality about fixed positions I’d be even happier). It was a great video and I will try to be patient waiting for the next one 😊
I agree about the fixed positions. I mean I like it when learning members based on their "specialty", but it can really box an artist to their group's detriment, and strengths evolve over time. It makes for a cool surprise when your songbird can lay down a few hard bars (adequately 😬). It makes me think of Ateez's reaction video to this latest comeback, and Seonghwa said so sweetly, "So I'm part of the rap line now?" Poor thing just wants to spit raps, just let him. And Jongho has a pretty fast flow himself. It would be jarring to have him rap a verse in a b-side, but I bet you it'd get our attention!
I both agree and disagree with KQ just being a symptom of the industry. At first, that was definitely a factor, but they started using deeper tones pretty early (Say My Name, Wonderland, and WIN come to mind) but just... not giving those parts to Yeosang? I think it might have been that they were trying to push him as more of a performer than a vocalist and then didn't know what to do when San went viral instead @missright9159 You might know this, but Seonghwa was originally supposed to be a rapper for the group. I literally had in my notes for his video that they need to let him rap more because his bars in Dreamer and Be My Lover SLAP. Looks like KQ was already ahead of me!
and here we are now, with new songs like Its you, arriba, silver light , crazy form , I hope KQ keeps using more and more Yeosang cause I know he has so much potential :)
I have to admit I’m not the biggest fan of high voices, not even when it comes to super famous international singers. Instead I love deep voices. You can really feel what Yeosang sings in your soul, but, as you said, he also has that softness that soothes you. It’s like a surreal experience, he’s kinda hypnotising.
Seriously, the first few times I heard his voice in Halazia (the song that introduced me to Ateez) my heart stumbled... not joking. 💓I was shocked because he doesn't look like it. Which makes it even more appealing!
As a very much Jongho biased atiny, I ofc love my mans high notes, but my favourite parts in especially the last few ateez albums are Yeosangs low parts. They just scratch parts of my brain in just the right way, i cannot explain it any better. I was absolutely shocked at Halazia when I first heard it, immediately thought "WE NEED MORE OF THIS" 😂 Also this sounds like the perfect start of a series, I love how you analyse these things as I am extremely interested in music/vocal theory and I haven't really found a lot of people doing these kinds of things with kpop songs! I would not mind watching a 2 hour video at all 😍
I really like how they use Yeosang’s vocals in the new comeback!!! He has a lot of cool parts and his chorus in dune feels like the „maniac moment“ you talked about - especially when jongho joins- , but my fav vocals of his are actually the ones in outlaw ( where he jumps the octave and when he goes really low before the prechorus). As a Yeosang stan I am just so happy to see him get the appreciation he deserves
Thank you so much for this--I'm really excited for the series! First, people don't talk about White Love enough. ATEEZ slayed that style. Second, I could add another half hour to this video going deeper into his growth and vocal texture. I've read a fair number of comments under his Hug Me cover with people hating on KQ for hiding his talent for 5 years. The vocals we heard in his recent cover didn't exist 5 years ago. He's always had a lovely tone, but he has struggled with support--in his Paul Kim cover, you can see his hand on his diaphragm, as though he's trying to remind himself to support. When people hate on KQ they are not only making Yeosang the victim, but they're denying his tremendous growth across the years--he's the victor, not the victim, because of the effort he put into improving his technique. To me it seems like Yeosang has had 4 vocal eras: 1) somewhat confident with little technique. From and Treasure are good examples. 2) unconfident and shy. I wasn't in the fandom then, but I wonder whether this phase started when he got all that hate. 3) increasing confidence with some power (like Fireworks) but in an almost shouty way. He often got volume from tensing muscles in his throat which, if it becomes habitual, can be a hard habit to break and can impede further progress. 4) finally, confidence with improved technique--I about fell out of my chair when I heard his held notes in the second chorus of Hug Me, and I absolutely cried because I was so happy for him. I have always thought Yeosang could be an incredible vocalist because of his tone and texture. You briefly touched on this when you described his voice as fuzzy. People are drawn to artists with unique voices. NCT has Doyoung with his very dark and round upper register and Haechan who's super bright and nasal. In Kpop, BTS's V has probably the closest texture but his voice is darker and more hollow. Yeosang's voice isn't gravelly or gritty as much as it's feathery (or as you called it fuzzy). It's unique even outside of kpop, so as he continues toward consistent support, I am excited to see Yeosang come into his own.
I think the issue is that Yeosang never got to sing all that much, so people who don't know a lot about singing couldn't tell what he was or wasn't capable of with so few examples. I also noticed the hand on the diaphragm! Really shows how far he's come. I like your idea of breaking his development down into vocal eras. Might need to steal that for the other videos in the series... I wish I had thought to use the words "texture" and "feathery" myself. You're very articulate and knowledgeable!
@@catchingteez I get what you're saying about some people not knowing, but it seems unfair to both KQ and Yeosang given how supportive they, especially Eden, have been in encouraging growth. I think it was in Man of ATEEZ that we learned the members each sing all of the parts and then the parts are assigned. Most companies decide positions before debut and, for the life of the group, members are assigned parts based on those roles. The benefit of being more flexible is that it encourages members to aspire to greatness and creates more variety in their music--every member of ATEEZ has opened a song, sung on a chorus, and done part of a bridge, even Yeosang and Wooyoung who have historically gotten less lines. That just doesn't happen in most companies. I could do a half hour on the company and especially Eden's penchant for encouraging ATEEZ, so it bothers me when people act like they're villains. Feel free to steal my thoughts. I'm a single mom working on completing my degree, so I don't have time to make videos of my own--all the better if you want to make a part two for Yeosang including insights from this or upcoming albums. I think this video was fantastic especially the examples of how they use Yeosang for different purposes within songs. Thanks for the video.
Some people definitely are definitely too hard on KQ and Edenary, and I think a lot of people didn't want to accept that Yeosang may not have been confident enough to take on more lines. The victimization of idols is a big issue, and something I'm thinking of covering. As far as companies and production teams go, Ateez is doing pretty well. Best of luck with your degree, and thank you for watching!
Yesss this is the type of series I want to see and discuss. I loved that with Halazia era they finally found a way to utilize Yeosang voice. That being said, maybe that’s what makes Ateez stand out together with a few others in K-pop is that, in most K-pop groups I find that the entertainment companies in training periods all look for one voice type, for their group. Or a sound that all members have.. a unison. Most idols in a group sound ‘the same’ to me. The Idols don’t really get an individual sound. And some entertainment companies even use more autotune nowadays to make members sound the same or to make transitions more smoothly. Sometimes I can barely recognize who is singing.. and when you hear them with normal speaking voices, you can easily differentiate them form one and other. -- That’s what I like about Ateez you have different voices and they make them stand out. Okay back to Yeosang, there is one performance that blow me away and that is the MC of the show doing EXO’s blooming day. Because it was split in 3 parts/singers, so I heard a lot of Yeosang. He was a real stand out, he was so good in his timing and placement. And even when it got higher he was stable. His deepness went along great with the melodies. And he seemed so comfortable and not nervous… it was almost if he was the strongest link. - which is more the case in Ateez covers, in some Ateez cover he really shines: Shines - view, T.o.P swan lake, Taehyung part in Boy with luv.. in some of those covers you really see another side of him and he really stands out. Owh I almost forgot the recent immortal songs win!! He was so good in the opening. - maybe I hope he gets to do a bass jazz cover. And I also hope on falsetto Yeosang In the future , let’s pray together for that. Is the next member your gonna discuss Wooyoung??? Because you better say some good things about my bias, unique ‘Jimin-like’ voice.❤😉 Just joking 😂😂 Btw did you see Hongjoongs cover on bouncy, starman, Cupid and Billie Jean!! Those were amazing to be honest. Rapper Seonghwa and Singer Hongjoong where not on my bingo card this comback but it’s amazing♥️♥️ And thank you for your in-depth analysis it’s amazing. I’m definitely gonna follow you. Thank you so much ❤
This made me so so happy. I feel like he is very overlooked as just eye candy, but after Jongho his was the voice (of the singers) I consistenly recognised. I like how you described his vocals as chill because he seems a pretty chilled person. I'm really looking forward to your videos on the others. I'd love for you to do Hongjoong because when he really sings properly he's incredible. It doesn't happen often but when he does....❤
ACTUALLY WE HAVE HEARD FALSETTO, twice and not in actual ateez songs, but twice. The first one is his cover of blooming day for the show, the second is his bday cover, which is kinda obvious
Oh great now I have a whole 6 seconds instead of 2 😭 (but thank you for reminding me about the Blooming Day cover) I just want to hear floaty notes in a ballad. Is that so much to ask KQ
It always felt to me like they were forcing him to sing higher than his bass-y voice to make him fit more into the acceptable mid range. I'm so happy someone else feels that way. Its criminal that it took all the way to Halazia to hear him in his element. Also each one of them needs a solo song and that, my friends, could be their next full length album.
i have a story about 14:51. so, my ult group is Ateez (predebut atiny here) and my friend likes them a lot, though she isn't as much into the fandom as I am. We both agree that sometimes, Jonghos vocals are a bit too in your face in their songs, she thinks that even more so as me; We finally went to our first Ateez concert in February (it was amazing, why thank you for asking) and the first song that played was New World. let me tell you, when Yeosangs deep voice was continued by Jonghos powerful ass vibrato, we both absolutely lost it. Jongho continued to wreck us so hard the entire concert, because he is so much more amazing live than in recordings. There's a certain quality to his tone that a studio microphone doesn't capture. i know that this video is about Yeosang, but this just gave me the irk to write this, and I hope you get to see them live someday because they are so great.
Thank you for the video!! The points you made about the pairings of Yeosang's voice with the other boys was really interesting for me. After Halazia and the drop of the new album, I'm really excited for more Yeosang lines in his lower tone!! Not sure if it's just me, but Yeosang's voice sounds stronger, like more fuller in their most recent releases. I'm finding Dune to be god tier with those deeper parts 😌
I ALSO WANT YEOSANG BASS JAZZ TO HAPPEN To be honest, he really has a unique voice but I think the way they use Yeosang's voice is very, VERY purposeful. Not only is it an incredibly soft and deep voice but it is also a completely emotional and empty-sentimental voice at the same time, as an actor I would like to point out that, Yeosang's voice is like something that can make you sleep and you want to hear it. there before bed and still be ruthless and cold. It works through the tone of voice, inducing a feeling of tranquility while enchanting you. Also, the thing that always distinguishes him from the other Ateez members is that if you pay attention all the other members' voices are like warm and vibrant colors while Yeosang's voice is the complete opposite when they make lines like in Halazia it's like the culmination of a ''tale'' of a deity, it's a cool superior tone, it kind of drags you along so he always ends up with short lines and more "slow" singing. Based on his new cover, you can really feel the feeling of loneliness, of melancholy, not sadness.
Yeosang appreciation, love to see it. They better give him more lines bc he was truly shining the past couple of cbs. Amd thank you for explaining the crack they put into New World, bc I’m so addicted to that song it had to be drugs lol
Bro I’m so excited for Seonghwa hes litteraly hitting high notes in dreamers and inception. I mean he has Jongho with him to bury still. Everyone knows about his high not in inception bridge, but not many people know he also did it in dreamers to. Then you have songs like boucy where he just raps. Then I’m songs he goes deep like Yeosang. This man’s range is crazy.
I literally search almost every tags i remember for this to come up haha, i need you to apply to kq and sit down their producers and give them a lecture about ateez vocals. I swear...looking at the situation now.
Absolutely stoked to watch this video essay on Yeosang's voice. There's never enough vocal appreciation for Yeosang and ATEEZ so I'm so excited to hear that you've decided to make this a series. A few thoughts: It's definitely unpopular but I actually like Yeosang singing brighter as much as I adore his lower ones. I do think that making him sing in brighter tones was partially intentional especially during early eras mainly because of what you've already touched upon. One, it's for continuity and symmetry of the song. Notice when Yeosang is given unique parts, his lines aren't mostly brighter but truer to his original tone, eg Answer. Two, the mood of the song matters. Bright, happy songs like Twilight From Stay etc all of which you've given examples for his brighter voice are bright happy songs themselves and I guess it's an attempt to fit his voice with the mood of the song. While the songs on both World EP.s are darker and sinister like which suits his usual tone more. Best ex, New World, Halazia I love the points you have made about CONTRAST. it's pretty rare to see vocal contrasts being used sooo effectively and consistently in kpop as much as EDENARY and ATEEZ. Which is something I noticed pretty early on in my journey of exploring their discography and I LOVE IT! 🔥 Take a look at HALAZIA. Yeosang's deep as the depths of hell voice followed by Jongho's piercing high voice, then followed immediately by the low chanty Halahalahala Halazia then again Jongho comes in with his loud and bright voice. Pure genius. Will make your mind go brrrr. Haha. Thanks for the video essay. Thoroughly enjoyed it and looking forward to more such ATEEZ essays.
He definitely thrives in more sinister songs, but I hesitate to say that he has to sing brighter in their happier tracks. His lines in Dreamers are a great example of darker tones in a happier song. I'm also a sucker for contrast, and I think that's what drew me to this group so fiercely. I should have used Halazia as an example for contrast between Yeosang and Jongho! Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for watching!
I just want you to know ive watched this video MULTIPLE times and will continue to because i love the analysis. i cant wait for more of this w the others
As an older K-pop fan, (It's only been like 6 to 8 months since I started listening to K-pop and I am in the older age group), Yeosang has become my favorite in Ateez. (Not that I don't enjoy the whole group and all their talents). The first song I heard from the group is Fireworks. He is amazing as a dancer and a singer in my opinion. When I first heard that cover I was floored. I would love to hear more of his voice in the group as well. I was amazed too, to know that Ateez and SKZ have met each other and were allowed to hang out together. It makes me almost want to see a concert with both groups together and hear Yeosang and Felix sing a song just themselves. That would definitely blow my mind for sure. Still, I agree. They need to utilize Yeosang a lot more than they have.
If I wasn't already subbed with notifications on, I so would have been when you said this was gonna be the shortest of your ATEEZ vocal videos. I know that's gotta be hell to edit but I absolutely love your perspective on Yeosang's voice. K-Pop is fucking obsessed with higher, brighter voices so I rly hope the mass hysteria caused by Yeosang's part in HALAZIA (and also Felix going viral imitating your sleep paralysis demon) changes that.
I'm so glad people like these longer deep dives! It is a lot of work to edit with all the song examples (you don't even want to see the screenshot of my editing software that I sent my friends while slowly losing my grip on my sanity), but I really love this topic. (Plus it gives me an excuse to listen to Ateez's discography over and over again shhhhhh) I never understood the obsession with bright voices tbh. And a lot of the popular deeper voices are harsher and trying to sound super intense. I really like that soft, fuzzy quality of Yeosang's voice, and I feel like it really sets him apart.
I am so glad that somebody else has a jazzy agenda for Ateez. I hadn't even listen to White Love before. All I had to go of was 걸어가고 있어 (aka With U) and All About You to make me think it would be cool to hear them try Jazz. By the way, this was my third rewatch of this video 😅 because it made me realise why I love Ateez. From my very layman point of view it seems that non of them, except maybe San, has a voice quality that would usually be considered a good starting point for a singing career, but they really took that as an challange and went with it making something that you can't get anywhere else exactly because they are not conventional voices. Their raw talent just pushed trough and made something beautiful! (And they make it seem easy, so easy in fact that I think a lot of people are unable to grasp what is actually in front of them. People are so blinded by that seeming ease of it all that they can't appreciate it. .....which sort of makes me sad, but also in awe of Ateez)
Halazia is not only my favorite Ateez song, but one of my favorite songs of all time. Candy to my ears and brain. It was also the first Ateez song i heard. When i heard Yeosang's part, lets just say, if he came from hell as a demon and said follow me. Be my pet (not in a seggsual way of course🥲), i wouldn't even hesitate. "Yes master"
His slight lisp brings so much more color to his parts. For me, at the beginning it was what really set him apart from the rest of the members and it still does.
I am new to Ateez and what ultimately hooked me was Yeosangs voice in Halazia. He made me stop dead in my tracks and I was just like: who the hell is that. It literally went into my bones and I loved every second of it. Those boys have me in a death grip ever since.
21:07 Answer as well has a bit of this contrast!!!! The song overall is obviously a bit more mellow/ slow building than Thanxx and Fireworks, BUT Yeosangs deep honey vocals, followed by Hongjoongs risen punchy, almost spoken lines &pitch, only for it to deepen AGAIN with Mingi while he still manages to keep the hype Hongjoong built up is just 😙🤌🏽
OMG!, I can’t believe it!!! You mentioned my two favourite Hoongjhoon’s raps for the exact reasons you have pointed out! I’m screaming!! I hope you continue with the series. Subscribed !
I'm living for this breakdown. I always thought that Ateez has unique vocals and range. I'm so excited to see Seonghwa's breakdown. Hes my bias alongside Hongjoon.
Yess please just let my man sing kq has been sinfully hiding his voice all these years and even then he's been training really hard it's high time for yeosang to start shining like the star he is
yessss i LOVE yeosang's voice!! i tend to prefer deeper voices in kpop in general, so that might just be my bias speaking, but i've loved listening to him grow and improve. and i will NEVER forget the first time i heard his part in halazia - i just about fell out of my chair! so glad to see other people who also love his voice
Yeosang is my ultimate bias for Ateez, partly because of his voice. Thank you for saying that his has a special voice that should be used much more. I was hoping after Halazia that it would happen but I am still waiting/hoping.
First off, you just made me figure out what I love about Yeosang's and Seonghwa's voice so much. The DEPTH. Also why I love it so much when Yeosang and Jongho are paired up. That intro in their newest Immortal Songs performance gave me goosebumps. Lastly, just with the few seconds in the me after you cover of him using the falsetto, an out of body experience. Great analysis!
Loved the video! I’m so glad you brought up how Edenary uses ATEEZ’s voices to compliment each other throughout the songs. Yeosang’s voice is so soothing and I love listening to him sing. He is definitely showing his skills are improving and he can do more vocally. When I listen to older Ateez songs I think that instead of Mingi, Seonghwa or Yunho they could have used Yeosang for some of those lines. They do record their songs way in advance so it might just be catching up now for both Yeosang and Wooyoung. I hope the changes they are making are here to stay. I want KQ and Edenary to find a better way to use or write lines for Yeosang’s deep voice, similar to Stray Kids with Felix and BTS with V. Paraphrasing one thing I remember Eden saying to Hyunwoo, Xikers’ main vocalist, is that it doesn’t matter how many lines you have, but what you do with them. This made me think of Yeosang. He more often than not makes a lasting impression on songs when he sings no matter how many lines he has.
YES! I know jack shit about singing or music production, so it's always so cool to see how people who actually know something about it can break it down. I love learning why music I love really strikes a chord with me from a technical perspective. As a lifelong metalhead I think I'm just built to appreciate lower tones a lot more. When I first heard Halazia, which I think was the 2nd or 3rd Ateez song I ever heard (I actually found them through the Kingdom performances, just imagine how delighted I was to jump into their discography and discover Mingi, it was wild) and I wasn't familiar with any of the members yet much less able to recognize their voices. As I got to know them more I revisited Halazia and realized I still didn't know who the super low voice was, and when lyric videos said it was Yeosang I legit didn't believe it bc I just hadn't heard that kind of tone from him yet and didn't realize he was even capable of it. He has the same quandry as Felix in that the both appear so dainty and almost fae-like which is such a massive contrast to their natural voices. Also like Felix, I'm so glad that both Stray Kids and Ateez are learning to use their low end singers as more than just special effects.
while you have a jazzy ateez agenda, i have an r&b ateez agenda. i feel like their voices suit r&b SO WELL especially wooyoung, san, and yeosang. i will NEVER stop preaching about that 😭
Thanks for making this video and giving Yeosang the analysis and credit he deserves! His pre-chorus part in Halazia legit gives me chills every time. As a StayTiny, I appreciated the comparison to Felix, because I feel like SKZ didn't know what to do with Felix for a while, but once they figured it out, it was magical. And YES oh my LAWD did he get his Maniac moment on Outlaw, as well as way more lines than he used to get. So happy! Again, thanks for the video!
I really enjoyed this video!! You made a lot of great points!! I also loved how you suggested that you’d like to see Yeosang being used like Felix because I absolutely LOVE how Felix gets used in SKZ’s music!
WOW you did an incredible job putting this together and keeping it VERY easy to follow and understand. It helps in separating/recognizing Yeosongs various voice skills and ability. I too love his chocolaty smooth rounded voice. thank you VERY much for this analysis.
thank you so much for appreciating my YEOSANG. he is more than a great beauty, he also brought so many new atiny with his part in Halazia and also other parts. Edenary needs to make him shine more as a vocalist with more lines! dreamy day song is traumatising for me as a Yeo bias.
I'm glad they're starting to incorporate Yeosang more now because I found it really frustrating that they'd just stick him in his own section of the song pior to halazia (still kinda a thing on bouncy, but he has more parts). It also relate it to Felix earlier on in Stray Kids' career cause they did the same thing with him as well. I agree in wanting to hear him on choruses or have more iconic lines like in halazia. I don't know Yeosang's rapping ability, but when Mingi was on hiatus I wondered why Yeosang didn't get more of Seonghwa's lines when he was covering Mingi's rap parts or rapped himself(if he could). Extra: I feel the same way about Yunho's voice being versatile, his is probably my favorite voice in Ateez. I'd like to see Ateez sub unit songs, especially for rap line and Wooyoung and Yeosang.
im loving this so much! yeosang has developed so much since debut and many people just now is being aware of that, this video is everything and explains so well how yeosang contributes to ateez more and more everyday
Oh, this is such an amazing, theoretical video. I love videos like this and you've done an outstanding job. Just noticed you did a part 2... I'm running.
The first time I heard his voice and realized it was him… I was SHOOK! I’m a sucker for deep voices and low tones and he was this close 🤏 to overtaking Mingi in the bias position 😅 Let’s be honest, I don’t know how I even have a bias in Ateez 😂 but my point is… Yeosang…. WOW! 😳🤩
I love Yeosang's voice. I need to check out his covers. Baritones are given dust in kpop. My ult bias is Taehyung, so I was so happy for him when Layover came out because he always wanted to do that genre. Yeosang would be good at jazz, and I need him to try blues and rnb (I also need San to do rnb). I love rich baritone voices in kpop. I love rich voices in general, but kpop glorifies nasally tenor voices. We rarely get to see low voices shine. I find Ateez's vocal line very interesting even though I don't really listen to their music.
You were saying Yeosang has the most to work on in terms of his vocal techniques and stuff- could a reason for that be the fact that he was made to sing is ways that didn’t suit his voice for such a long time? Like if he spent years training his voice to basically be the opposite of what is natural to him, I feel like that would set him back in terms of actual technique since he had been working against his voice instead of with it. And I guess we also don’t know what training he was giving at BigHit- though based on TXT’s debut I would say they were definitely gearing towards brighter voices.
I love how detailed and in depth this video is. Wonderful analysis!! You know your stuff and I love these kinds of videos because it helps me notice things I haven't before. Especially the way certain voices are used to make more of an impact in Ateez's songs. I've only been Atiny since Oct 2022 but this group is now my obsession, especially the storyline. It's so fun to find more fans who love to analyze any aspect of Ateez. I eat it up!
Thanks u very much for doing this. There's a lot of us agree with u. I have no musical background but enjoy great music like ATEEZ. I do hope Yeosang will get more lines now. Again thanks ❤❤❤
10:42 just need to replay this because holy fuck i seriously never noticed but now i can't unhear it😭😭 11:34 oh my here too!! 14:24 here too😭😭 i'm so in love with it now my god🫠😖 12:10 ok but this and the comparisons are my favourite part of the video like idk that really made it click for me 26:53 hear ME out ateez jazz bar by dreamcatcher cover... come on that would be so so glorious
Okay, no, but like hear me out, has Yeosang ever done ASMR before... like his voice is so soothing and ASMR is somehow content that a lot of idols do and like Seonghwa has done like a decent amount of it in the past, so I know the boys know about it, but like also, Yeosang solo song.... actually all the members need their own solo songs because I want the ability to listen to their voices in that manner... for um, purposes (stimming mainly, my brain is funky it's fine)
I love Yeosang's voice so I'm grateful you made this video 😭 I'll be tuning in for the series, I'm sure all of the analyses are gonna be pretty interesting just like this one! 🍿
I'm so happy he's finally getting his spotlight. I saw his potential when I got into them back in 2019, and I'm so excited to see how else they'll play around with his vocals. I'm excited for the growth of the entire group! So proud.
I love this video so much, because yes, his voice needs to be talked about more! Ever since I discovered them a few years ago, his growth has intrigued me, and then BOOM we got that cover a few days ago and it's almost like it came from nowhere, but of course that's not true. We know he's been working on his voice for a long time, but I guess it's the first time we get to hear it by itself for more than 30 seconds. As for Wooyoung, well, let me start by saying I'm not a vocal anything, I just make observations, and to me Wooyoung's unique quality to his voice is his high brightness. Different than Jongho, it's like a splash of lemon. At least, that's how I felt it could be a while ago. Thinking in particular to his part in Mist "So please...." I hadn't paid too close attention in their recent comebacks to see how it might have changed, but I still think it could be.
While you go to cover Wooyoung, I was wondering if there were any thoughts about even line distributions or line share justice? I know there's an outcry for Yeosang, and I feel that's warranted when a well executed Yeosang part can have a huge impact. And I'm not sure if there is a consensus about Wooyoung being underutilized as well, but I can see that happening with these two due to how heavily they are relied on for their performance. When it comes to the "uneven distribution" complaint, more times than not fans are wanting their main dancers to be ultra-main vocalists as well, and I don't see that as reasonable. I mean, have your good singers sing, and favoritism is never cute when all idols are out here trying to have a career, but if you're balanced in other ways, then I'd rather that than everyone having to sing for the same amount of time. I feel like this can very much be the case with Wooyoung. He has amazing vocal moments and those should definitely be had more, but he is such an amazing performer and dancing powerhouse, that I can see having him step up the same amount vocally could be a tall order (not that these guys couldn't handle it).
I pretty much agree with you on this. Not all lines are created equal, and there's also performance moments to factor in. Bouncy actually did a really good job in showcasing each member. Jongho has the least lines, but he also gets the most impressive ones. Wooyoung has the second least lines, but I think his "slow it down make it bouncy" in the final chorus has everyone by the throat. I could go through each member and point out their "moment" on stage, and that's what's really important. If a performance-oriented idol hardly gets any lines in all their songs, then we have a problem. But if one or two members are just generally on the lower end because they're too busy giving us everything on stage, I see no problem
Wooyoung was great on the current album. He has chorus or pre-chorus parts in both Django and Wake Up, and has memorable lines in pretty much everything. From what I can tell he seems to have the highest chest voice aside from Jongho and maybe Hongjoong, and his voice has a very sweet and delicate quality that is unlike anyone else. He is an absolutely dominant, magnetic dancer (and from what I can tell, he's happy that way and would rather be a dancer than a vocalist), but I still wish we could hear him sing more. He does have a unique role in the tenor line as far as I can tell - delicate, melodic vocal moments that don't require Jongho's power or Hongjoong's grit. He also has this thing he does with San where San will hit a high note and then Wooyoung will build on San's line by either hitting a higher note (Halazia) or hitting the same note in a lower register (This World).
I've long been a fan of Yeosang's voice and have often wondered if the K-pop music persons currently making moves would have a collabo of Yeosang, Felix and Ni-ki. It seems that K-pop shy's away from their vocalist that have powerful lower registers unless they are rapping like Mingi or Chanyeol. Skz was the only Gen 4 one to really try to cash in on the appeal by highlighting Felix and that was only because the decision came from within the group and groups producers section 3Racha and the leader BangChan. Sidebar, you really have to commend a group leader like BangChan who does not move by being threatened by the popularity of his other group members. He still seeks to make the best final product for the fan and bring out the best of all the members. Back to Yeosang, It was really fun to see how viral his parts in Crazy Form went. It was in every tiktok/short/reel and that combo of his part with Wooyoung drew such a crowd response at all of their live performances.
Thank you so much for this video ! Make the next ones as long as you want. You definitely have passionate listeners here -I am included. Agree to all of it. Would just like to add: If Yeosang was a 1970-80s' US rock singer he would not be considered a "deep voice" but just ordinary tone and he would perfectly fit. K-pop style and standards make it difficult. But I trust KQ to take care of him. And Eden probably knows the boys' voices, strengths and weaknesses better than we do. Yeosang is gaining confidence these days and it shows in his stage presence too. Falsetto when you're dancing so hard... better leave it to Jongho for the moment, but potential is here! Do you know what I'd really like? To watch him enjoy singing on stage, not being afraid of putting joy and emotion in it (borrow some from San!) and have FUN! Then I'll be happy for him 😄
Hiiiiii!!! Just stumbled upon your channel with the Wooyoung analysis and since you said to start here, i started here lmao What a fantastic analysis, I just love Yeosang's voice so much and Halazia is my favourite title track and one of the reasons is Yeosang's parts like i was so happy 😭😭😭 Dune is my favourite song on Outlaw because of Yeosang too mainly (i also just watched your part 2) and I'm just glad we're getting more of his vocals. I don't have anything smart to say so i'll just say brilliant video, thank you so much for delving into Yeo's vocals and see you on Wooyo's vid bye👍🏾
Very excited for this series! His part in Halazia changed me as a person. Since that song I started paying a closer attention to them. With the latest comeback on my hands I'm FOR SURE staning them hehe (thanks in some part to your videos 💛) . by the way, maybe, just maybe, this type of vocal deep dive for dreamcatcher someday?😉
I have been tossing around the idea of doing this for Dreamcatcher... I'm not as familiar with their discography, so it would probably be wayyy down the line, but I am definitely open to it
I forgot to include this in the analysis but it’s really important ruclips.net/video/U0G5OA6ZH5w/видео.html
Was this supposed to go to a time stamp? For me it starts at the beginning.
It's just a joke to try and get people to stream Bouncy 😂
@@catchingteez 😂
Totally just started your video, but your voice sounds sooo familiar? 🧐 Do you have a classical music background? Love your ATEEZ content btw!
Can we talk. About his voice. In Dune. OBSESSED
I asked for a Maniac chorus moment and BOY HOWDY did I get it
I was blown away. Almost a sort of metal like growl, unlike anything we’ve heard from him.
ALSO the bridge in Bouncy where we get Yeosang’s line then we jump an octave to Yunho’s line then another octave to Jongho’s line. I swear I levitated.
Yeosang part in Dune make me ascended and Levitated. Cult level greatness
The first two lines are sung by yeosang and then Yunho just saying cuz a lot of people don't know . They both got such a deep and sexy voice 😵
BRO AND THEY UTILIZED HIS DEEP VOICE SO MUCH IN THIS NEW ALBUM BECAUSE THEY SAW HOW CRAZY WE WENT ABT HIS DEEP COICE IN HALAZIA
KQ LISTENED KQ LISTENED KQ LISTENED
They’d better keep listening ✋😩 I’m addicted to his deep voice, and his voice in general. Let this man sing
seeing as how his new cover got 3m views in under 3 days, they’re gonna _have_ to listen
As a fellow atiny with an ateez jazz agenda, WE NEED YEOSANG BASS JAZZ. LIKE NEED. ITS NOT A WANT, ITS A NEED.
YES SOMEONE GETS IT
Halazia, just Halazia, what a masterpiece, the way I screamed when I heard Yeo's part for the first time!
That may or may not be a section I'm saving for Wooyoung's video... but yes those two harmonizing are just perfect
@@catchingteez thats a sign for me to subscribe
ALSO Hoongjong has said that he’s exited to be able to fully utilise his voice in the future so I’m confident we’ll hear more of him !!!!
(I think stray kids is different because they produce themselves and Bangchan and Felix's music background might be a bit more western, owing to growing up in Australia.)
I love the video, you really nailed what makes his voice important to Ateez' music, in a way I don't think a lot of people realize.
actually i was curious about the claims atinys made about yeosang asking for less lines due to confidence because i’ve never seen evidence of him saying that. so i did pretty in depth research searching for any time he may have said that and i couldn’t find anything except for atinys theorizing that idea.. so i think it’s important to note that he never said that ^^
A lot of good points here. "Perfect storm" is a great way to say it. He may have never said he asked for fewer lines, but I would be willing to bet that he certainly never asked for more in their earlier years.
@@catchingteez he actually did! in the 2020 seasons greetings (which was filmed in 2019) his main ask was for more parts
I totally didn’t save Yeosang’s part in Halazia on my phone so I could replay it repeatedly whenever I desired 😅
I’m not quite sure how to explain it but I dream Ateez will do a sexy, sultry horror concept in the future and would love Yeosang to sort of “control” the song with his voice (again idk how to explain it) but the song starts relatively low with his voice sort of “creeping” throughout and eventually climaxes at the end with harmonies with the other members.
I see your vision. 😈
We just need more Yeosang. He's not just a pretty face. He can dance and sing and he needs a chance to really shine! ❤
(though I'm a little sad that San's and Seonghwa's haven't passed the million yet 😢)
It's so true about his lisp, I was made aware of it in that one Wanteez episode and now I can't unhear it
San has one of my favorite voices ever so I'm definitely excited to hear a 2 hour long essay on it 😂 I love how versatile he is and how many emotions he can conjure with it
Legit almost started crying when he hit that high note.
Them: just where has this vibrato been hiding?
Me: EXACTLY.
But I have to ask about one thing though (and I don’t trust my judgment/understand bc I’m not versed vocal techniques)- you mentioned that Yeosang is lowest on the ATEEZ vocalist totem pole and that his voice in the rookie days is very untrained.
The tone of his voice is as like touches you with velvet...In combination with his sweet face, it becomes so explosive!
The cover he dropped for his birthday blew me away like omg
I am finally glad to meet someone who realizes the versatility yunho has as a vocalist. He first stood out to me in be with you but now i note how much variety he brings in how he sings every song also his cover of stary nights on idol radio is such so so good will look forward to this series
I think san yunho and hongjoong are the ones who play the most with the vocals variety, hongjoong plays with diction, speed, sounds, words the man is crazy creative , mingi has started too as a rapper to play with his rap delivery which im gald to see ,
Yunho and San's videos are already giving me premature headaches but god am I excited to cover them
@@catchingteez im looking forward to them ,, thankyou for your hard work :)
Just found this. I'm no vocal expert but can agree that Yeosang sounds heavenly when used. Halazia was a turning point for sure. Hope to hear from him even more in 2024.
No cause its the way I go feral every time his halazia part comes on
Oh I’m so excited for this series! I firmly believe that ATEEZ have the most underrated vocal line in K-pop today, not only in terms of raw talent but in terms of how they play their voices off against each other.
And Yeosang’s growth into a whole new pillar of their sound is a big part of that.
Especially considering that they always sing live with their insane choreography. No idea how they aren't all recognized more (especially Jongho)
I think it might have been that they were trying to push him as more of a performer than a vocalist and then didn't know what to do when San went viral instead
@missright9159 You might know this, but Seonghwa was originally supposed to be a rapper for the group.
Imagine a jongho high notes and Yeosang low notes subunit song, something orchestral/sea shanty vibe -- we gonna explode from so much eargasm.
I was absolutely shocked at Halazia when I first heard it, immediately thought "WE NEED MORE OF THIS" 😂
Also this sounds like the perfect start of a series, I love how you analyse these things as I am extremely interested in music/vocal theory and I haven't really found a lot of people doing these kinds of things with kpop songs! I would not mind watching a 2 hour video at all 😍
His voice is just so satisfying. Glad to hear people like the music theory side of this!
To me it seems like Yeosang has had 4 vocal eras:
1) somewhat confident with little technique.
"he's the victor, not the victim" that's a beautiful way to put it, I agree so much
I think the issue is that Yeosang never got to sing all that much, so people who don't know a lot about singing couldn't tell what he was or wasn't capable of with so few examples.
Because you better say some good things about my bias, unique ‘Jimin-like’ voice.❤😉 Just joking 😂😂
Btw did you see Hongjoongs cover on bouncy, starman, Cupid and Billie Jean!! Those were amazing to be honest. Rapper Seonghwa and Singer Hongjoong where not on my bingo card this comback but it’s amazing♥️♥️
And thank you for your in-depth analysis it’s amazing. I’m definitely gonna follow you. Thank you so much ❤
A 2 hour analysis is fine :)
Encouraging me like this is dangerous...
Oh great now I have a whole 6 seconds instead of 2 😭 (but thank you for reminding me about the Blooming Day cover)
I just want to hear floaty notes in a ballad. Is that so much to ask KQ
@@catchingteez i get it as a yeosang ult 😭 his voice is so beautiful and im just happy that hes been able to be more confident with it now
I wish Yeosang would watch this
Halazia is what triggered me to search Yeosang voice analysis. And I'm not someone easily moved by voices. His voice in Halazia is outofworldly.
Thanks for watching! He definitely sounds stronger after that diaphragm discovery and we love that for him
I ALSO WANT YEOSANG BASS JAZZ TO HAPPEN
To be honest, he really has a unique voice but I think the way they use Yeosang's voice is very, VERY purposeful.
Yeosang's voice is my favorite in ATEEZ, so distinct from others ... I really hope we'll finally get to hear more from him. Ty!!
Absolutely stoked to watch this video essay on Yeosang's voice. There's never enough vocal appreciation for Yeosang and ATEEZ so I'm so excited to hear that you've decided to make this a series.
A few thoughts:
It's definitely unpopular but I actually like Yeosang singing brighter as much as I adore his lower ones.
Best ex, New World, Halazia
I love the points you have made about CONTRAST.
it's pretty rare to see vocal contrasts being used sooo effectively and consistently in kpop as much as EDENARY and ATEEZ. Which is something I noticed pretty early on in my journey of exploring their discography and I LOVE IT! 🔥
Take a look at HALAZIA.
I love love LOVE ateez all of them ❤❤❤ thank you for the video i enjoyed it
kudos to you for talking about Halazia. his voice is so damNNNNN HYPNOTISING!!
help i knew he had a lisp but you accentuating it made me HYPERAWARE of it. Oh no, what have you done LMAO
(Plus it gives me an excuse to listen to Ateez's discography over and over again shhhhhh)
I never understood the obsession with bright voices tbh. And a lot of the popular deeper voices are harsher and trying to sound super intense. I really like that soft, fuzzy quality of Yeosang's voice, and I feel like it really sets him apart.
I love you 😊
I love Yeosang's voice. Whenever I hear him sing live, I cannot believe it is so beautiful
Please, can you explain what you mean in your bracket ?
Halazia is not only my favorite Ateez song, but one of my favorite songs of all time. Candy to my ears and brain. It was also the first Ateez song i heard. When i heard Yeosang's part, lets just say, if he came from hell as a demon and said follow me. Be my pet (not in a seggsual way of course🥲), i wouldn't even hesitate. "Yes master"
His slight lisp brings so much more color to his parts. For me, at the beginning it was what really set him apart from the rest of the members and it still does.
7:33 that actually sounded almost operatic damn. His progress has been so gradual I didn’t even notice the difference but yikes
I am new to Ateez and what ultimately hooked me was Yeosangs voice in Halazia. He made me stop dead in my tracks and I was just like: who the hell is that. It literally went into my bones and I loved every second of it. Those boys have me in a death grip ever since.
21:07
Answer as well has a bit of this contrast!!!! The song overall is obviously a bit more mellow/ slow building than Thanxx and Fireworks, BUT
Yeosangs deep honey vocals, followed by Hongjoongs risen punchy, almost spoken lines &pitch, only for it to deepen AGAIN with Mingi while he still manages to keep the hype Hongjoong built up is just 😙🤌🏽
OMG!, I can’t believe it!!!
4M & counting for his Birthday Cover song 🎉
the vocal power this man holds 🔥
YESSS i’m so happy you made this video 😭♥️ yeosang’s voice is so underappreciated ;-;
Also like Felix, I'm so glad that both Stray Kids and Ateez are learning to use their low end singers as more than just special effects.
while you have a jazzy ateez agenda, i have an r&b ateez agenda. i feel like their voices suit r&b SO WELL especially wooyoung, san, and yeosang. i will NEVER stop preaching about that 😭
YESSS OMGGGG
Casually adding this to my list of things I need to see from Ateez
OMG IT'S YOU BY WOOSANSANG IS OUT AND IT'S R&B
@atzbf dude you predicted it's you that's crazyyyy
Make it 2 hours long! I am craving a video essay on Ateez and the members that isn't full of memes
Thank you. Your explanation made me understand how relay singing can be used effectly.
im loving this so much! yeosang has developed so much since debut and many people just now is being aware of that, this video is everything and explains so well how yeosang contributes to ateez more and more everyday
I AM HERE FOR WHITE LOVE AND JAZZTEEZ 👏👏👏👏👏
Videos like this are the reason why I can appreciate artists. Thank you
Thanks u very much for doing this. There's a lot of us agree with u. I have no musical background but enjoy great music like ATEEZ. I do hope Yeosang will get more lines now. Again thanks ❤❤❤
10:42 just need to replay this because holy fuck i seriously never noticed but now i can't unhear it😭😭
11:34 oh my here too!!
14:24 here too😭😭 i'm so in love with it now my god🫠😖
12:10 ok but this and the comparisons are my favourite part of the video like idk that really made it click for me
26:53 hear ME out ateez jazz bar by dreamcatcher cover... come on that would be so so glorious
So proud.
Love this and the songs that you used Yeosang is so slept on hope you do Choi San
It might be a while before I get to him, but I promise I WILL get to him. I have so many things to say
I AM SEATED. I can't to see the rest of your videos for this vocal analysis series.
YES GAWD SERVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate that my first reaction to this was "serve it with cheongyang chili peppers?"
I need to touch grass between my Bouncy streams 😂
Thank you so much for this video ! Make the next ones as long as you want. You definitely have passionate listeners here -I am included. Agree to all of it. Would just like to add:
If Yeosang was a 1970-80s' US rock singer he would not be considered a "deep voice" but just ordinary tone and he would perfectly fit.
Then I'll be happy for him 😄
Hiiiiii!!! Just stumbled upon your channel with the Wooyoung analysis and since you said to start here, i started here lmao
What a fantastic analysis, I just love Yeosang's voice so much and Halazia is my favourite title track and one of the reasons is Yeosang's parts like i was so happy 😭😭😭
Dune is my favourite song on Outlaw because of Yeosang too mainly (i also just watched your part 2) and I'm just glad we're getting more of his vocals.
